I felt something that is kind of obvious which is the nostalgia that the game brings; for example, I remember the feeling I had when I played Crysis 2 on my PS3 I was astonished with the graphics and now I get that feeling again! Also gladly I’ve forgotten a lot of stuff! So it was great to play it again.

The Crysis Remastered trilogy is a huge hit from the past. For those who played already any of the games will have fun playing these classics again, even the new players, especially the new players.

"crysis_rt_2"

I will start with Crysis 1 because there is some stuff that needs to be said. The aiming system is just terrible! The controls are way outdated on the first one; everything seems very heavy and slow… but for the two sequels, the gameplay is perfect just the way they used to be back when they were first released I mean… the base is the same, that being the buttons, they are pretty much the same for all 3 games, but you can fell a huge difference on the “effect” that the abilities have, everything is more fluid. The tactical part is not really necessary; I mean, you can just go forward shooting everything up and alternate between the cloak mode and the armor mode without the need of putting much thought into it…You have to remember that the game is 14 years old, it is also short and there aren’t enough boss encounters. I do love the story and the soundtrack is a total 10 out of 10, so you have to keep in mind that the game does get better on the two sequels. (but you can choose a feminine voice for the suit, which is cool)

Now!!! Crysis 2 and 3 are just as perfect as it was back then! I’m talking about those two together because after the huge improvements they did since the first game (mechanically speaking), they didn’t do any big change to the game, just some display stuff, like the suit’s voice is now louder (which for me is great, I think it adds a “charm” to the game). Now the tactical part is extremely important and you can create your own strategy based on the options the visor gives you, an impressively flexibility, observe your surroundings and switch your tactics to suit your mood. Want to storm straight into battle with your armor activated? Do it, rather snipe from long-range, flank your enemies or just sneak past the lot of them and head straight to your next objective? It’s all up to you so keep in mind that now the armor’s abilities are 100% used.

"crysis_rt_3"

The graphics are now beyond incredible, making the game great for those who like to explore the map not just to see the beautiful scenarios but there are some rewards to get. From the second game on you do feel like you are playing as a weapon! This package is a great deal, one that offers two very awesome shooters and Crysis 1 for less than the cost of one new release (there's no Crysis Warhead and that can be responsible for some angry faces since it is one of fan's favorite), this trilogy is totally worth it of buying and playing it, they sum up at least 30 hours of fun there.

Crysis 3 is an improvement of the second game, and it is also by far the most visually impressive of the bunch. Having previously only played it on the PS3 it is awesome to see it looking so sharp on my PS4. Crysis 3 can actually be the high point of the entire trilogy from a main mechanical point of view.

There is not much to talk about since it is a remaster, but I must highlight that unfortunately, they removed the multiplayer mode… it was my favorite multiplayer game, although it does make a lot of sense not to get a server to a remake.

"crysis_rt_1"

Final Impressions (and more about graphics and soundtrack):

I was over the moon when I was asked to do this review because I’m a huge fan of this franchise. I still own copies of Crysis 2 and 3 even tho I don’t have a PS3 anymore, so playing it again with such incredible graphics on my PS4; was extremely satisfying. Crysis has one of the most impressive soundtracks; the music has a heavyweight on it… it’s sinister and beautiful. The geniuses behind the Crysis trilogy soundtrack are Inon Zur (The same composer from Fallout, Pathfinder Kingmaker, Dragon Age 2…), freaking Hanz Zimmer! Recognized worldwide for his work on blockbuster films like “Inception” and “The Dark Knight”, Zimmer and his team featuring Lorne Balfe worked with the existing composers Borislav Slavov and Tilman Sillescu to create the intense and dramatic score for Crysis 2 which sets the tone for the game’s backdrop of a devastated New York City in 2023 and Borislav Slavov who is famous for his work in Baldur's Gate, Divinity, etc...

Crysis is not a very challenging game on normal mode, so if you really want to get a full experience of how necessary is the armor “gadgets” during the combat, you should consider going for a higher difficulty option.

Overall: 8/10
Developer: Bird Bath Games

Platform(s): PlayStation 4, Xbox One (Reviewed), PC

Gene(s): Action, Indie

Publisher: Raw Fury

It's a crazy world in Atomicrops. It's a strange mix of a roguelike game. It's a part farming simulator and part crazy shooter. This combination is what makes Atomicrops an interesting and varied experience. It starts off a slow-paced farming simulator, make a small little patch to plant your seeds, water them and watch them grow. Before you know it you run out of valuable garden equipment, you must wander the land to find seeds, tools, and anything else of use. Just as you get settled at the pace of the game, it all changes. Out of nowhere during the night, your plants come under attack, you must rush back to protect them. This is when it becomes topsy turvy, the action begins and before you know it swarms of nasties want to eat your crop and you too, though mainly your crop. It's at this point it turns out to be an all-action shooter with enemies, and bosses appearing from every angle, you must and you will protect your valuable crop. As dawn is about to appear, the crazed hordes subside and you can be at peace for a few minutes. It's a case of powering up, tending to your crop, exploring, and then awaiting another onslaught.

"atomicrops1"

This is Atomicrops in a nutshell. Each period ties into a season and as your progress through each season it becomes tougher, the battles become bigger and the mayhem more pronounced. The bright visuals, the shift between day and night from season to season bring this bright vivid game to life. Sounds and effects add to each shift in gameplay too. The shift between game pace makes for a chaotic but enjoyable experience. It's super simple to pick and play but incredibly enjoyable. With any roguelike, the enjoyable factor is how much time and effort you put into mastering it.

"atomicrops2"

The game has solid game mechanics, fun, and easy to pick up with tons of action to boot. This game will keep you addicted for many an hour and will have you coming back to last another season in this crazy world.

Overall: 8/10

Developer: EA Vancouver

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, Xbox One (Reviewed)

Genre: Sports

Publisher: EA Sports

Like the changing of the seasons and the start of the latest football (soccer) season in the majority of Europe, the latest FIFA football game is out. EA has introduced one major change in FIFA 20, Volta mode.

What is Volta? Volta is the introduction of indoor football in the game, to the uninitiated, this a remastered version of FIFA Street, FIFA Street is the standalone indoor football that was released in 2005 and had its last outing on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012, time flies when you are having fun.

"FIFA20_1"

You are probably asking your self, what's the big deal with a new mode, I think the big deal is that Volta really breaks the mould of minor tweaks and improvements we have seen in FIFA over the last few years. A mode that doesn't require as much of your time, geared towards quick play that's fun and doesn't take itself too seriously.

In Volta (FIFA Street) mode, you can play 3v3, 4v4, 5v5 and Futsal rules, rules can be tweaked in FIFA too. The emphasis of Volta is short, punchy and tricked based action in a smaller environment. It's great fun and the age-old of the question of whether to bring back this mode is validated for sure. Smaller pitches and smaller goals put an emphasis on player control, precision, tricks and accuracy. It's like street football but on your screen. It's playful and exciting, a real joy.

I found the gameplay in standard games to be a bit slower and more predictable than the previous version, it does feel like you have more control over the ball and your player, 1 v 1 situations seem more authentic. The computer AI does learn if you do the same trick over in the one game. One major improvement is when you break free of defenders leading to a chance on goal with just the goalie. Defenders can't track you back as quickly as in previous games, for example, if you are using a player with a lot of pace and a slow defender, the defender will find it difficult to catch up with you as in real life, a much-needed improvement.

"FIFA20_2"

It has been claimed that AI of defenders has been improved, I haven't seen any major differences as of yet but they may be subtle. There is better physics and reactions of players when they collide, push and pull at each other.

Changes around how penalty and free kicks, giving more precision and onscreen indicators as to how you are taking the free-kick and what after-effects are being applied to the ball.

Volta on its own is the biggest reason to get FIFA 20, however, there have been improvements in FUT, Career modes, free kicks, penalties, close control, a slow down in gameplay. I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the new free kick system, only time will tell.

"FIFA20_3"

Overall there have been minor tweaks in the gameplay but I think this season about refinement rather re-invention. Visuals, presentation and design have been quite similar to last year, the overall presentation has always been very slick and intuitive. It's a solid game that is a must-buy for football fans, Volta is worth the purchase and play but don't expect huge changes elsewhere but minor tweaks. Still very satisfying to play in all honesty.

Overall: 8/10

Codemasters has pulled out all the stops to deliver the world of F1 ( and F2) with that real-world feel. This game is close as possible replicable to the real-life experience of F1 driving, I assume. This is the officially licenced game for F1 World Championship.

Layouts, visual and the sound struck me first as I took my car around the Melbourne Grand Prix for a time trial lap. I tried to keep up with ghost car and the race line but I failed awfully, the realisation dawned that I would need to invest some hours to get F1 ready. First impressions were fantastic, from the detail of the car, track and just the sense of speed while driving in the cockpit. The sense of immersion is hard to explain but these come close to the real thing. Tracks are unforgiving and expect a high degree of competence to navigate them. All the Grand Prix tracks from the world are ready to play straight off. Pick your favourite and give it a bash. You can just put the foot down and hope for the best, you have to drive like an F1 driver to compete at any level in this game. It took me a few laps to realise a gung-ho approach wouldn't work. It took a few hours before I could get a grip of any car I used, to be honest, the slightest mistake is punished. It was relentless and the learning curve is steep but well worth the effort. The gameplay is stunning, I'm not a massive fan of F1 but I enjoyed getting in and trying to be number 1 in each race. This game delivers an experience so well.

"F12019_1"

The small things - you can tune every detail of your car which is probably more than I would ever do. If you are so inclined, you can customise to the nth degree or just go with the normal setting. I went with the default in the majority of cases. The huds and cockpit display the complex car data in that's easily understandable and actually useful. Voice commands from your pit, the sound and ambience from the crowd give a real-world feel, it's hard to feel you are not racing the real thing. Graphics are stunning and every bit of the game is extremely well polished and slick. This gives the authentic feel of being a driver. I don't have pedals and steering wheel but I'd say they would further enhance the spectacle. Crash damage and collisions affect your performance,

Careers modes are available where you can pick a team and progress with them throughout grand Prix and title challenges if you want to build a dynasty. Grand Prix and the single-player modes are where I played most of the game. There are online, solo modes, just play any track you love.

"F12019_2"

F1 2019 is an immersive and thrilling experience that tries to replicate and succeeds mostly, the teams, licences, tracks and amazing visuals give a real F1 car racing experience. In-depth detail from the car set up to driving styles and the ability to tweak almost everything on the car is mind-boggling. Overall, a real F1 experience backed with everything you expect from a racing simulation game.

Overall: 8/10

Developer: One More Level

Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One (Reviewed), PC

Genre: Action, Indie

Published by: Techland Publishing

You play as the original odd couple in this ultra violent and amazingly fun game that is Gods Trigger. It's a top down shooter with elements of stealth and or strategy, depending on your approach to life / games. You can either play co-op or single player, my buzz was single player. A single button allows for a quick shift between characters, Angel or Demon, with their own particularly killing style which can be upgraded throughout the game. A shiny narrative and a comic book feel add to this glossy and well presented game.

Level design is key to the game play, each stage allows for different approaches and the arcade feel to the gameplay are just superb. There is a real enjoyment and satisfaction as you progress through each section of each level, checkpoints are well spaced out and when you die which is a lot the checkpoints are handy. Graphics and animations are slick and a visual feast, the killing, the blood and the voice acting lends to a great experience.

This game is crazy fun, with loads of action and has that element of addictiveness that makes you want to just keep playing. Really simple and elegant controls allows for the instant gratification to draw you in but keeps you coming back. The level design and your approach style dictate the way you want to play and it's up to you. I love the fact that a single hit from an enemy results in death, this level of toughness adds so much to the game. Superb graphics, environment and a cool comic book feel with great story telling make this a fantastic game.

We got our hands on a preview build of Splashteam's second game Tinykin. Tinykin is a wonderful cartoon animated 3D adventure. It does pay homage to Pikmin for sure and does give me Toy Story vibes through the look and feel. The perspective is from a small character (the size of a small toy) in a human world. You start in the living room, which seems massive, and you encounter a whole cast of creatures on your journey. What hit me straight away was the stunning cartoony graphics that were bright but in a beautiful 3D world. I was more than pleasantly surprised; it was polished from start to finish.

"tinykin1"

The preview does give you an entire level to discover the game mechanics and a feel for the game. You play as Milo, the explorer, who is in this amazing living room full of life and creatures. The game does have that mix of platform and puzzle all rolled into one. It's a joyful, bright, and wonderful experience. The game has tons of characters, and the cartoon art style gives a fantastic look and feel.

Milo has a supporting cast of Tinykins little creatures with special powers; in the preview, you encounter two types of Tinykins who can move items and blow things up.

"tinykin4"

A mix of platform, strategy and using Tinykins constitute the gameplay. It's a very fun platform game with a lot of puzzles to solve in a beautifully rendered world. I played the game using an Xbox controller, and the controls are super intuitive. The game does give directed guidelines as you uncover a new mechanic. The game is super slick and a real joy to play.

"tinykin5"

I was impressed from the start with the wonderful look and feel. The game looks and feels polished. The game mechanics were intuitive, and the art style lends itself to a beautiful looking game. This one level was a great taster, but I'm looking forward to seeing what the full game holds and how much richer it will be.

Developer: Codemasters

Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One (Reviewed), PC

Genre: Racing, Simulation, Sports

Publisher: Codemasters

If you are a fan of simulation racing games then you are in for a treat with F1 2019.
