“Spring Time, Happy Time!”

Hello everyone, I am back once again with another SoKawaii box to review. This time I have May’s box, which focuses on Spring Time. With a number of items dedicated to making your homelife that bit more kawaii, with merch from Sanrio, Studio Ghibli and San-X. So let’s get started with information on who SoKawaii is!

For those of you that don’t know – SoKawaii is a company based in Japan, home of practically everything kawaii (the Japanese word for cute). They create monthly subscription boxes, jam packed with 100% licensed products from brands such as Hello Kitty, Pokémon, Sanrio, Studio Ghibli and more. The items range from plushies to Gachapon, little figures, stationary, lifestyle, kitchenware and more. The staff at SoKawaii handpicks 5 to 7 cute & useful items exclusive to Japan, pack them up in a very decorative box and send it straight to your doorstep each month. You can also check out their Instagram for even more info and insights into what is currently trending in Japanese arcades and stores. As well as sneak peeks into what they could be including in next month’s box. They also listen to what you would like to be included in future boxes, by asking across their social media accounts. So make sure to have your opinions heard over on their social media posts, particularly their Instagram one – https://www.instagram.com/sokawaii/

"sokawaiimay2021_1"

So our first item this month is one I have longed to own - a Kuromi plush! This adorable plush mascot comes in her very own maid outfit, all set for the big Spring Clean. With an outfit that would fit right in with any maid café in Japan, Kuromi has a matching headband and bows as well. This officially licensed mascot comes straight from Sanrio, however she won’t be in every May box as there is also a My Melody version that could also be included. This was obviously the best item from the box this month for me!

"sokawaiimay2021_2"

Moving on to our second Sanrio item, which is a magnetic hook featuring a number of Sanrio’s most iconic characters. There were two designs available for this product, as it is unusual to find a magnetic hook as it leaves very few places to actually use it. Mine ended up being attached to the side of my cooker, so I can hang up my oven glove. It really makes you think, how many places have you in your home that you can actually attach a magne.

"sokawaiimay2021_3"

Next up is our kitchenware items for this month, which include a bowl and chopsticks. The bowl is actually made from bamboo fiber, which makes it more eco friendly than plastic and is also food safe. It even includes a fun looking Sumikkogurashi design on the inside, which will make a lovely little surprise for when you are done eating your food. Now I wouldn’t suggest putting this in a dishwasher, as it could either ruin the design or it mightn’t be suitable for high temperatures. Best keep with the old fashion way and wash it by hand.

Accompanying this bowl is two sets of chopsticks, featuring everyone's favourite My Neighbor Totoro from Studio Ghibli. These 21cm chopsticks (which I don’t really know they came in different sizes), are decorated at the top by the lovable character. Perfect for sharing a meal, or having as a back up.

"sokawaiimay2021_4"

Our final item this month comes once again from San-X with this super soft Rilakkuma pillow. This pillow is in fact more of a cushion, going by the size and shape. It’s quite soft, but not very ‘plump’ as though it could have done with some more stuffing for a more firm cushion. However if it was, it may not have fitted inside the box! This cushion of course has two ‘faces’ to it, with Rilakkumas’ face taking up the entirety of one side with flowers printed on the corners. The opposite side is more sparse, with a beautiful background filled with sakura petals and flowers. With Rilakkuma enjoying a Dango and Korilakkuma sitting beside him in the corner. We also have the little chick Kiiroitori sitting on top of a flower in the top corner. It really does make for a lovely throw pillow, but practicality not so much as there are so many warnings on the label that this cushion can never be machine washed. So once again, make sure and wash this one by hand if you need to.

"sokawaiimay2021_5"

There we have it folks, that was Mays’ SoKawaii box. Very Sanrio and San-X heavy in the merch, with a good mix of items. Now let’s get on to the all important information, for how YOU can begin your own subscription, as well as a special discount code just for you guys.

So here is the price breakdown of the box each month and the savings you can get. SoKawaii are back to shipping their boxes via Japan Post, so delivery may take a number of weeks. Whether you subscribe month to month, or for their 3, 6 or even 12 month package options – there are savings to be had.

1 Month – $35.00 (€29.00mo roughly)

3 Months – $33.50 (€28.00mo roughly)

6 Months – $32.00 (€26.50mo roughly)

Now if you enjoyed May’s box, then just wait for June’s! It’s theme is “Dreamy Creatures”, which will feature a number of items from Sanrio, Kirby, My Neighbour Totoro and Pokémon. That box is already sold out and on the way to me, and will include my very own Totoro plush! Stay tuned to SoKawaiis’ social media, as they announced their themes, sneak peaks and opinion polls on what fans want to see next in their boxes. They are very active on their Instagram and really listen to what their customers are looking for – so go have your say now! Also make sure and use that special discount code I left you all above!

“Full Bloom Sakura”

Hello everyone, I’m back with another SoKawaii box review! Although a little later than usual, seeing as Japan Post is back up and running international postage again - shipping now takes a couple of weeks compared to 5 days tops from DHL during the pandemic. Don’t worry though, I still see myself doing the subscription box reviews for quite some time yet. So let’s get on to April’s box and its “Full Bloom Sakura” theme, which was celebrating Cherry Blossom season. So everything in this box more or less followed the same color palette. This month’s items are mostly from Sanrio, with one Pokémon item included.

For those of you that don’t know - SoKawaii is a company based in Japan, home of practically everything kawaii (the Japanese word for cute). They create monthly subscription boxes, jam packed with 100% licensed products from brands such as Hello Kitty, Pokémon, Sanrio, Studio Ghibli and more. The items range from plushies to Gachapon, little figures, stationary, lifestyle, kitchenware and more.

"sokawaiiapril2021_1"

Our first item this month is a rather large one for the size of the box, and it’s this Sakura Cinnamoroll plush from Sanrio. This mochi plush is perfect for those day time naps that we all dream about post lunch. It’s pillow-like design features the iconic white character, with a light pink blush across its cheeks, sakura petals printed on its floppy ears and a sakura flower adorned on its head. It’s very well detailed and is also an exclusive item, as this plush is a limited run 2021 design from Sanrio. Better yet we have four items from this Sakura Sanrio collection in this very box.

"sokawaiiapril2021_2"

The next item is also from the same collection and is a mini memo pad. Following the same character design as the Cinnamoroll plush, each page is ruled and has the same image on the front of the memo pad on the top of each page. This item is available in 8 different Sanrio character designs, of which I received Cinnamoroll.

"sokawaiiapril2021_3"

Our third item from the Sakura collection is this Character pen, pictured on the left in the picture above. Now it is always handy to have an extra pen in the house and on you at all times, especially one as cute as this. This pen has a decent grip and weight to it, so it will be good for all that general paperwork you have to do. This item was available in three designs, all of which had Sanrio characters in the same traditional clothing designs as the memo pad.

Our next item is the Hello Kitty - Flower Body Spray, pictured on the right in the photo above. It’s in a handy travel size bottle, so you can put it in your handbag if you're on the go. It follows the same Sakura theme and has a cute packaging design. I am actually amazed it never leaked or broke during shipping. The scent might be a bit too strong for some, as I find just one spritz goes a long way. Can be used by adults, but would also make a nice gift for younger girls that are a bit too young for perfume yet.

"sokawaiiapril2021_4"

Now a pair of fluffy socks is always a welcome sight in any box, especially if they are character themed. This pair is once again from Sanrio, and is available in three character designs including My Melody, Hello Kitty and Pompompurin, but with four designs available. So it will be a real pick and mix in regards to what designs everyone will get. It’s made from stretchy material, super fluffy and for me, they fit a UK size 4 comfortably. They are more fluffy ankle socks, will stretch to a UK size 5 to 7 but don’t think there will be anymore room after that.

"sokawaiiapril2021_5"

We are now onto our sixth and final Sanrio item from this month’s box - in this gorgeous Sakura Tote bag! This dual handled tote bag comes with two zippers on top with a rather sizable pocket on the inside. Would be ideal perhaps as a handbag, would easily carry a lunch or maybe even for a beach trip. This adorable bag is covered all around by a floral print, with several Sanrio characters printed across it including Keroppi, Little Twin Stars and Pompompurin. This bag was guaranteed in every April box.

"sokawaiiapril2021_6"

We are now onto our final item for this April's box and it comes from Pokémon, with Volume 5 of their Pokemofu mini doll series. This item is very similar to the Sylvanian Families, where we have a small figure that is covered in a light fur, giving it a fuzzy appearance. This series has been running since 2018 and is being made by Bandai, each figure also comes with a small piece of gum - which allows them to be sold in convenience stores near the sweets. There are seven available in Volume 5, including Pikachu, Grookey, Scorbunny, Sobble, Sandshrew, Alolan Sandshrew and Bewear.

"sokawaiiapril2021_7"

There we have it folks, that was Aprils’ SoKawaii box. Very Sanrio heavy in the merch, a number of limited collectables, very on theme with the Cheery Blossom season. Now let’s get on to the all important information, for how YOU can begin your own subscription, as well as a special discount code just for you guys.

So here is the price breakdown of the box each month and the savings you can get. This months’ box theme is “Super Kawaii Squad” and features an interesting mix of items from Sailor Moon, Sanrio, San-X and PreCure. With two household items inside, we also have an unusual ‘stationery’ item and some collectable figures to add to your display cases. This month’s box has got it all! So let’s get the company description out of the way, shall we!

SoKawaii is a company based in Japan, home of practically everything kawaii (the Japanese word for cute). So make sure to have your opinions heard over on their social media posts, particularly their Instagram one - https://www.instagram.com/sokawaii/

"sokawaiimarch2021_1"

First up, we have our household item which is perfect for the bathroom. With the Pompompurin Foaming Soap Dispenser, which is perfect for the bags of refillable liquid soap you can purchase in Lidl. Now as to how it creates the foam, I’m unsure. As I haven’t used this dispenser enough yet to see it fully working. Now Pompompurin is the only version available, which mightn’t be to everyone's taste. I myself would have much preferred a Kuromi one! It’s a plastic bottle at the end of the day, so it will last for quite some time, but it does look like something that would be bought rather cheaply.

"sokawaiimarch2021_2"

Our second item this month is a small cat plush. Much similar to the ones we have gotten in the past, when we received the Tanuki & Kitsune plush range in last August’ box. This very cute, fluffy and almost TsumTsum like sized plush is from the “Funwari Korokoro Nayanko Neko '' plush range. Now I love these small plushies, so easy to stack and display in small spaces. I now have a small pyramid of these small plushies, so its very satisfying to look at them. The most adorable detail to these plushies, is that they all have a small black butthole sewn onto them! It’s both hilarious and cute! There are six different cats available in this collection, with one supplied at random in every box this month.

Up next is our San-X item, which is a “Rilakkuma Friends Blind Box Figure”, which has 6 different characters available. Now these items are rather large and are made of a hard plastic material that reminds me a lot of those bath toy figures you may have had as a child, that used to squirt water out of their months. Now they are hollow inside, but the detail is quite good and has a decent paint job. They are also fully licensed figures, as they are made by Bandai.

"sokawaiimarch2021_3"

The next item we have this month is a rather unusual one. As we have a “My Melody Adhesive Mirror set”, which are basically reflective stickers that you can attach to the back of your phone, notebooks etc. Advertised as a ‘handy mirror’, for those quick touch ups. Now I don’t see why they are saying that you can place it on the back of your phone, when in fact practically all mobile phones these days have a front and rear facing camera - making this item absolutely pointless. Unless you are a young girl that hasn’t come of age yet to have the responsibility of a phone. Either way, this item is definitely aimed at a much younger generation compared to the people that actually subscribe to this box. It’s more of a cheap filler item in my opinion.

"sokawaiimarch2021_4"

Next up is our PreCure item! From the show “Healin' Good♥Pretty Cure”, comes this high quality melamine spoon. A rather large one at that, which is perfect to eat all of those deserts with. It’s also a good rice spoon as well. It’s also perfect for just displaying. With three designs available at random in March’s box.

"sokawaiimarch2021_5"

Now onto our final item this month, the one that has certainly made the box well worth the subscription cost! Each box for March received one of the five designs of the recently released Sailor Moon Q posket figures. Which featured Sailor Moon, Chibi Moon, Mars, Jupiter and Venus. Sailor Moon is all the rage at the moment due to the recent release of the Sailor Moon Eternal movies, which this collection is named after. Q Poskets are ‘unusual’ looking figures, made to bring attention to the eyes and large scale heads attached to the figures, mostly known as the chibi figure range. Which have been made by Banpresto. Although not entirely my cup of tea, as I prefer figures that are closer to the character design in the anime than chibi designs such as these, I was ecstatic to see that I actually got Sailor Moon in my box!

"sokawaiimarch2021_6"

And that has been March’s So Kawaii box! Now let’s get on to the all important information, for how YOU can begin your own subscription, as well as a special discount code just for you guys.

"sokawaiimarch2021_7"

So here is the price breakdown of the box each month and the savings you can get. At the moment, SoKawaii are shipping their boxes via DHL as Japan Post is still not allowing worldwide postage from Japan. Whether you subscribe month to month, or for their 3, 6 or even 12 month package options – there are savings to be had.

1 Month – $35.00 (€29.00mo roughly)

3 Months – $33.50 (€28.00mo roughly)

6 Months – $32.00 (€26.50mo roughly)

12 Months – $31.50 (€26.00mo roughly)

Better yet, here is a 10% discount code that you can use on your first box!

http://sokawaii.refr.cc/maryhealy

Now if you liked everything you saw in this review of March’s box, rest assured that the items are different every month, for the most part. Each box has 5 to 6 items included and a few of them will be revealed online through SoKawaiis’ social media as the weeks go by. April’s box theme is “Full Bloom Sakura”, which will feature goods from Pokémon and Sanrio, with a few of the products included already announced across their social media.

https://www.sokawaii.com/
Although February’s box was slightly late in arriving due to a delay on one of the items, it was still very much welcomed. Hello and welcome back again everyone, to another SoKawaii Box unboxing. ( Which is still not sponsored !)

February’s theme was all about love and self care, instead of the traditional Valentine's Day celebrations in Japan where the girls give chocolates to the boys they fancy. We have products from San-X, Pokémon, Sumikkogurashi and Hello Kitty. We have a large plush bag, some hair accessories and a cookie mould. So let’s get started with the usual important bits of info!

SoKawaii is a company based in Japan, home of practically everything kawaii (the Japanese word for cute). They create monthly subscription boxes, jam packed with 100% licensed products from brands such as Hello Kitty, Pokémon, Sanrio, Studio Ghibli and more. The items range from plushies to Gachapon, little figures, stationary, lifestyle, kitchenware and more. The staff at SoKawaii handpicks 5 to 6 cute & useful items exclusive to Japan, pack them up in a very decorative box and send it straight to your doorstep. As well as sneak peeks into what they could be including in next month’s box. They also listen to what you would like to be included in future boxes, by asking across their social media. So make sure to have your opinions heard over on their social media posts. https://www.instagram.com/sokawaii/

"sokawaiifebruary2021_1"

Our first item this month is a large plush hand bag from San-X. This adorable cream Korilakkuma shoulder bag is super soft, has a rather large inside pocket that will at least fit your phone and purse, as well as actually being a quick pillow if need be. I would have preferred a Rilakkuma bag instead, as this version is sure to get marks on it very quickly if using it out & about. However it is perfect for those that enjoy dressing up as lolithas’ for conventions and such, otherwise it will be nice to display it at home. The only issue is that we have already gotten plenty of bags in various sizes in the last number of months, and it’s becoming a bit repetitive. I for one, which there was an option given to subscribers who may want to option out a bag for a plush or ReMent figure as an alternative.

"sokawaiifebruary2021_2"

"sokawaiifebruary_2021_3"

Our Second item is from Pokémon, with this blush pink Pikachu hair brush from the “Girly Collection”. Now I have REALLY long hair, so I need a good hairbrush to tackle it every day. Now I haven’t started using it yet, but this cute design is well worth adding into my routine. It’s pretty sturdy and is actually much larger than what I was expecting, this could easily have been in and around 12 to 15euro if you were to buy that in the Pokémon store I say. It also never hurts to have a second hairbrush around!

"sokawaiifebruary2021_4"

"sokawaiifebruary_2021_5"

Moving on to our third item, we have a pair of Hello Kitty hair ties. Now these remind me of the bobble hair ties I used to have as a kid, that if you were unlucky, they would whack you in the head when you were putting them on. They felt like you got hit with a rock, and they didn't just hit you once! Although they were adorable, they were a b**** to get on! Also kind of wondering, what age demographic is SoKawaii aiming for really? As I imagine most of the subscribers have to be between 16 and 30, and even then I doubt many of them will be wearing their hair in pigtails with these hair ties. They are cute all the same, but are definitely aimed at little girls.

Our fourth item is a Sumikko Gurashi headband. Made of towel like material, this is actually going to be pretty handy for people that are doing their skin care routine and wish to keep their bangs off of their face. I imagine it would also be handy to have on right after you have a shower too. This item was available in two designs: Shirokuma or Neko.

"sokawaiifebruary_2021_6"

Our fifth and final item for this box, is a Gudetama Cookie Mould. This is probably the closest we are going to get this month to an actual Valentines day gift. This baking mould is a two pack cookie cutter featuring the laziest egg mascot of all time - Gudetama. What would have been a nice touch, would have been an actual recipe we could use these for!

So this month’s box has been a bit of a mixed bag really. With yet another large bag to add to the collection, a pair of hair ties that could cause a concussion, and even a pair of cookie moulds that are just going to remind me of breakfast. For those, this months’ box has been a gold mine. For myself, it wasn’t really worth it as the majority of the items are really no use to me in my life. But I am sure to find a good home for them amongst friends and family. Now let’s get on to the all important information, for how YOU can begin your own subscription as well as a special discount code just for you guys.

"sokawaiifebruary_2021_7"

So here is the price breakdown of the box each month and the savings you can get. At the moment, SoKawaii are shipping their boxes via DHL as Japan Post is still not allowing worldwide postage from Japan. Whether you subscribe month to month, or for their 3, 6 or even 12 month package options – there are savings to be had.

1 Month – $35.00 (€29.00mo roughly)3 Months – $33.50 (€28.00mo roughly)

6 Months – $32.00 (€26.50mo roughly)

12 Months – $31.50 (€26.00mo roughly)

Better yet, here is a 10% discount code that you can use on your first box!

http://sokawaii.refr.cc/maryhealy

Now if you liked everything you saw in this review of February’s box, rest assured that the items are different every month, for the most part. Each box has 5 to 6 items included and a few of them will be revealed online through SoKawaiis’ social media as the weeks go by. March’s box theme is “Super Kawaii Squad”, which will feature goods from Sanrio, San-X and Sailor Moon, with a few of the products included already announced across their social media.

https://www.sokawaii.com/

SoKawaii January 2021

“Cheers To A Kawaii Year”

Happy New Year peeps!

We are now in a new year and January feels like it will last an eternity at this rate. So thankfully, like clockwork my SoKawaii box lands on my doorstep yet again with a collection of items that I hope bring some joy and laughter to us all. So let’s dive into the first SoKawaii box of 2021!

This month’s box theme is ‘Cheers To A Kawaii Year’, and features six products from Sanrio, Sailor Moon and even Animal Crossing. They range from household items, to help with storage, cleaning and some decoration. Another is great for time keeping and the last is another addition to all of our stationary supplies. So if you are new to these reviews, then let's begin with what exactly SoKawaii is.

The staff at SoKawaii handpicks 6 to 8 cute & useful items exclusive to Japan, pack them up in a very decorative box and send it straight to your doorstep. You can also check out their Instagram for even more info and insights into what is currently trending in Japanese arcades and stores. As well as sneak peeks into what they could be including in next month’s box. They also listen to what you would like to be included in future boxes, by asking across their social media. So make sure to have your opinions heard over on their social media posts. https://www.instagram.com/sokawaii/

"sokawaiijanuary2021_1"

Our first item this month is a Sanrio Daruma plush, which is available in two designs, featuring either Hello Kitty or My Melody. Daruma are a very popular good luck charm in Japan, and are usually bought at the beginning of the new year. They are commonly painted red and are purchased as a gift for encouragement. When bought, the figure's eyes are both blank white. A user will then select a goal or wish and paint in the left eye of the figure's two eyes. Once the desired goal is achieved, the right eye is filled in. At the end of each year, the doll is burned and a new one is bought. Is a lovely little ritual that also acts as a source of encouragement to help you complete your wish and fill in that second eye. The plush that we receive in this box is based off of these dolls, but thankfully they come with their eyes attached! They are well stitched and made of soft material, perfect as either a throw plush or some seasonal decor.

"sokawaiijanuary2021_2"

Our second item is also from Sanrio, as we all receive a small towel mascot. Made of flannel fabric and with a small hook to hang it up, its a small face towel at best to have about in your bathroom. It is available in three characters, including Kuromi, Cinnamoroll and Pompompurin.

Moving on from an item to clean yourself with, we also get six individual Sanrio sponges to prepare for that upcoming Spring clean! Each sponge features a Sanrio character printed on one side, as we get two of Hello Kitty, My Melody and Pompompurin. These sponges are made of melamine material, small in size but could perform well maybe. I haven’t used these yet for cleaning, so I have high expectations for these. Interestingly enough, I googled what the material was and found this description: “It is used as the main sound and thermal insulation material for bullet trains, due to its high sound absorption, excellent thermal insulation performance and lightweight.” The more you know I guess!

"sokawaiijanuary2021_3"

Our fourth item this month is the previously announced Sailor Moon Kira Kira jar. This is all to tie in with this month's announcement of the all new ‘Sailor Moon Eternal’ movie releasing in Japan. Made of hard pink plastic and gives a geometric look in its design. It is a tad squeeky when trying to open it, but is very handy to store your accessories, cosmetics or stationary. For me, I use it to store my go-go’s. That's hair scrunchies to those of you in the U.S.

"sokawaiijanuary2021_4"

Next up we have our final Sanrio items, which are a three pack of scented pencils. Available in three character designs, including Pompompurin, Little Twin Stars and Gudetama. They are lightly scented, but I’m not entirely sure what off as its that lightly scented. Either way, its still quite handy having some pencils, but I would have preferred either a mechanical pencil or pens. Kinda surprised they didn't include a calendar or pocket diary of sorts this month. Either of which would have been more useful.

"sokawaiijanuary2021_5"

Last but not least, we have our Animal Crossing item which is a ‘Uki Uki Watch’. Which looks to have been a gacha prize, going by how it came packaged. This was available in 5 different designs, which all associated to an ingame character. It features a digital screen underneath a die-cut character symbol. That sits on top of a printed strap. It’s a must have for a die hard Animal Crossing fan, for others it may look slightly kiddish. I’ve never gotten into Animal Crossing but can already think of a number of people I could give this to.

And there we have it folks, that was 2021’s very first SoKawaii box! Now let’s get on to the all important information, for how YOU can begin your own subscription as well as a special discount code just for you guys.

"sokawaiijanuary2021_6"

So here is the price breakdown of the box each month and the savings you can get. At the moment, SoKawaii are shipping their boxes via DHL as Japan Post is still not allowing worldwide postage from Japan. Whether you subscribe month to month, or for their 3, 6 or even 12 month package options – there are savings to be had.

1 Month – $35.00 (€29.00mo roughly)

3 Months – $33.50 (€28.00mo roughly)

6 Months – $32.00 (€26.50mo roughly)

12 Months – $31.50 (€26.00mo roughly)

Better yet, here is a 10% discount code that you can use on your first box!

http://sokawaii.refr.cc/maryhealy

Now if you liked everything you saw in this review of January’s box, rest assured that the items are different every month, for the most part. Each box has 6 to 8 items included and a few of them will be revealed online through SoKawaiis’ social media as the weeks go by. February’s box theme is “From SoKawaii, With Love”, which will feature goods from Pokémon, Sanrio and San-X, with a few of the products included already announced across their social media.

https://www.sokawaii.com/
;

“Too Cute To Spook”

Hello everyone and welcome back once again to another subscription box review with us over on ComicBuzz. Today let’s take a look back at what was included in October’s edition of SoKawaii, which ran with the theme of ‘Too Cute To Spook’. We had six items this month that ranged from homewares, a plush, an accessory and beauty, from the likes of Sanrio, Pokémon and Twisted Wonderland. So before we get this review started, let’s take a look at who SoKawaii is!

"sokawaiioct2021_1"

Our first item this month is far from spooky, with this bright pink Pokemon alarm clock. This item was available in four designs and colors, including pink, yellow, green and purple. As you can see from the pink version above, it features Slowpoke, Mew, Luvdisc and Alcremie. This is a battery operated clock, with the battery not included. It is rather cute, great for a bedroom decoration.

"sokawaiioct2021_2"

Next up is this Makeup Brush Cleaner and stand from Sanrio. Featuring two of my favorite girls - Kuromi and My Melody. Now this is a rather practical item I must say. As you can see from the packaging above, all you need to do is take the lid off of the tub, add some water or cleaning solution and wash your makeup brushes in it by moving the bristles along the pointed spikes at the bottom which help to remove the likes of foundation from the brush. Now I’m not one to wear much makeup, so I’m unsure as to how well this item actually works but going by just the design alone - it is actually quite clever and well thought out. And who knows, maybe it also works on kids' paint brushes?

"sokawaiioct2021_3"

Moving on now to our Twisted Wonderland item, with this acrylic stand featuring Idia Shroud. With one of seven characters included in every box, its a series that is still rather unheard of here outside of Japan. Twisted Wonderland is actually a Japanese mobile game created by Aniplex and Disney. Interestingly enough, the character designs, scenario and concept was actually created by the author of Black Butler - Yana Toboso. There is even an anime in the works at the moment and should hopefully be released sometime next year over on Disney+.

"sokawaiioct2021_4"

Our next item is a Narikiri face mask from Sanrio. I’m unsure as to how many varieties of designs that were available, as there were at least two. I received the Hello Kitty design, while the Pompompurin one is advertised in the leaflet. These character designed face masks make a great inexpensive souvenir and are a good seller in Japan. This particular one is rose scented and claims to be packed full of everything your skin needs to feel revitalised including ingredients such as witch hazel water, damask rose, hydrolyzed collagen and soybean extract, it will also leave your skin smelling like roses. If you missed out on getting your own face mask last month, then do not fear as ToFu Cute is also selling them over on their UK based website and store based in Portsmouth.

TofuCute: https://www.tofucute.com/narikiri-face-pack-mask-kawaii-hello-kitty~p4970.html

"sokawaiioct2021_5"

"sokawaiioct2021_6"

Okay so who here also loves Aggretsuko? Exactly, practically everybody that has come across her! Retsuko is a 25year old red panda, working in the accounting department of a Japanese business. She is the most realistic Sanrio character I have ever come across, as she depicts the many ups and downs of being single, dating and working life. In order to blow off some steam, she goes on solo trips to a karaoke booth to play some heavy metal as she screams out her frustrations. It is definitely an entertaining watch, and you can catch it all now over on Netflix. Season Four is set to hit screens shortly, on the 16th December. So in order to get on the hype train, everyone received this Two sided Aggretsuko pouch. Where one side shows her calm demeanor, the other has her Rage side! It’s a small zipped pouch that you can attach to your bag with enough room inside for a couple of coins.

"sokawaiioct2021_7"

And our last item this month is this Halloween inspired Cinnamoroll plush. This exclusive Halloween plush takes our normal Cinnamoroll design and makes it a tad more magical. It’s ears now have a colorful fade on them from purple to orange on the tips, with both bat, black stars and spider web designs printed on. The plush also has a small black witches hat attached, a black and orange cape and the cutest of pumpkin wands attached to their right hand. With the addition of this new plush, I now have a trio of Sanrio Halloween plushies to break out each year. All thanks to the last three years of the October SoKawaii box. I wonder just what character we will be receiving in 2022?!

And there we have it folks, that was the end of our October box review from SoKawaii. What did you think of this one? Let us know by reaching out to us across our social media accounts. So let’s continue with how you can get your very own SoKawaii box, as well as a small discount for all your first time buyers!

12 Months – $31.50 (€26.00mo roughly)

Better yet, here is a $3 discount code that you can use on your first box by clicking this link!http://sokawaii.refr.cc/maryhealy

Now if you enjoyed October’s box, then just wait for Novembers’! It’s theme is “Wish Upon A Star”, which will feature a number of items from Sanrio, Pokémon and Cardcaptor Sakura. That box is already sold out and on the way to me and will include an exclusive Kuromi Pastel Rainbow plushie. Stay tuned to SoKawaiis’ social media, as they announced their themes, sneak peaks and opinion polls on what fans want to see next in their boxes. They are very active on their Instagram and really listen to what their customers are looking for – so go have your say now! SoKawaii - September

“After School Party”

Hello again and welcome back to another subscription box review! Today let’s take a good look at what was included in Septembers’ box from SoKawaii. The Japanese monthly subscription box service that gathers a number of super cute and sometimes exclusive items each month, packs them neatly into a very striking box and ships them right to your doorstep. September’s box ran with the theme of ‘After School Party’, as the new school semester starts for many of you out there. So let’s get started with our usual SoKawaii info!

"sokawaiisep2021_1"

Our first item this month is perfectly timed with going back to school, as we all received this Himouto! Umaru-chan pencil case. From the popular and short lived 2015 anime, we get this slim pencil case that is entirely decorated in Umaru-chans’ face. Featuring 13 various facial expressions that you are sure to experience throughout an entire school day! Like I mentioned it is fairly slim, so no point expecting to fit in a scientific calculator. Ideal for a couple of pens & pencils, as well as that all important Tipp-Ex pen so you can doodle a few mustaches on your new pencil case.

"sokawaiisep2021_2"

Moving on, we have a rather handy foldable straw and case from Sanrio. Available in four character designs, including Kuromi, My Melody, Cinnamoroll and Pompompurin. This set comes with two foldable straws, a cleaning brush and a small case that could very easily be mistaken for an airpod case. Now I say this is handy for the simple reason, those that have braces will find this incredibly useful.

"sokawaiisep2021_3"

Our next item features the wonderful keeper of the Clow Cards - Cardcaptor Sakura. In this mini ring notebook, with a hardcover and star shaped cut out design that showcases Sakura on the front page. Also on each individual page there is a little Kero-chan on the bottom corner. The pages are also dotted on the inside edge, so they can be easily be torn away for cute notes.

"sokawaiisep2021_4"

"sokawaiisep2021_5"

We return once again to Sanrio, with this My Melody magnet clip. A pretty useful magnet to keep on your fridge, to keep those all important school calendars or class timetables on hand. It has a fairly strong clip on it, as well as a pretty powerful magnet which is a plus.

"sokawaiisep2021_6"

And now we get to our final item for this month, with this Pompompurin Sakura plushie bag. Not only is Sanrio’s favourite Golden Retriever mascot carrying its own sakura flower, but he has also been dyed a soft pink color to match. This bag is so incredibly soft, if you could remove the straps it would make a great plush to just cuddle. However this plush is indeed a bag and a rather spacious one at that. Not only was I able to fit my phone lengthways, I would easily get in a wallet and keys. You could very possibly be able to go out for an entire day and still manage to just use this handbag for your necessities. It does have a rather long strap as well. When extended to its last it does come to just above my hip - and I’m 5ft 2”. As for practicality, I don’t know what way you would style your outfit around this bag. It is incredibly girly and from where I live, it would be seen as incredibly childish to walk around with. Once again this is another item we have been sent that is either only going to get an outing at an anime convention or on the streets of Harajuku if one was lucky enough to go. Personally, I think SoKawaii needs to start rethinking exactly what they should be including in their boxes as I am strongly thinking of ending my subscription in the new year due to the impractical items such as this bag that are regularly featured. But hey, that is just my own personal opinion and taste.

So that is everything that was included in Septembers’ box from SoKawaii. Let me know what you thought about it in the comments below, or tag us across our social media. For me, this month's box was a bit of a let down. Having received yet another notebook, straw set and plush bag. The same sorts of items are being repeated a bit too often now for my taste. Although most are indeed practical, there is such a thing as having too much of one thing. Either way, let’s continue on with how YOU can order your very own subscription to SoKawaii!

12 Months – $31.50 (€26.00mo roughly)

Better yet, here is a $3 discount code that you can use on your first box by clicking this link!

http://sokawaii.refr.cc/maryhealy

Now if you enjoyed September’s box, then just wait for Octobers’! It’s theme is “Too Cute To Spook”, which will feature a number of items from Sanrio, Pokémon and Twisted Wonderland. That box is already sold out and on the way to me and will include an exclusive Cinnamoroll plush. Stay tuned to SoKawaiis’ social media, as they announced their themes, sneak peaks and opinion polls on what fans want to see next in their boxes. This month we took an in depth look at what was included in Augusts’ box, which featured six items across Sanrio, Studio Ghibli and Kirby. Some were useful everyday items, others were decorative, whilst the rest were more from a beauty category. So let’s get started with the usual, and all important info!

"sokawaiiaug2021_1"

Our first two items this month come from Sanrio and are of the plush variety. We have a small Pompompurin plush mascot on a keychain that is super soft and squishy. This little dough ball can simply be used as a normal bag charm, decoration or can even be placed in this very secure and dust free pouch - featuring Cinnamoroll. What would look like a normal plastic pouch, similar looking to a drinks holder, but features a Cinnamoroll plush head on top as a lid. The overall design reminds me of a vanilla milkshake, as there is a red & white straw sticking out of Cinnamoroll’s head. The clear plastic pouch makes it ideal as a small fashion accessory, if you want to carry another plush with you inside of it. However this could be aimed more at younger girls, but it only features a keychain attachment. Which if they wanted this to be worn as part of an outfit, it really should have been designed with a shoulder strap in mind. This item in my mind, is more aimed as a decorative item at home, rather than a fashion accessory.

"sokawaiiaug2021_2"

Moving on, we have our Kirby item! Of which we all received a fairly hefty sized tin of peach scented moisturizing cream, featuring our favorite pink skinned, competitive eater! This item was available in four tin designs, all limited edition and taken inspiration from a number of famous places in Japan. The one I received is a very tropical one, as it has the Okinawa design - the Hawaii of Japan.

"sokawaiiaug2021_3"

Our fourth item this month comes from Sanrio once again, but instead we get a mini spray bottle featuring Kiki & Lala from Little Twin Stars. This 30ml reusable spray bottle is perfect for those weekend aways, where you just intend on bringing a small amount of perfume, without any of the worry of thinking ‘what if the glass bottle breaks in the bag?’. This travel ready bottle is also ideal for other liquids, including toners. Pretty handy to have lying around in the house, as it’s not very often you can just pick one of these up in the shop without being forced to buy a multi pack or set.

"sokawaiiaug2021_4"

Moving on, we have a rather ‘unusual’ item. One that mightn’t be of much use to everyone, but will certainly be a huge hit with some individuals. Here we have a My Melody pill box, which is in fact two four compartment made medicine boxes which will be ideal to store your daily meds. However it is rather small, and also I do not see the point of it being made into two separate eight compartments, when most pill boxes either cover seven or fourteen days. I assume this might also be ideal for those that have piercings or contact lenses, as it’s simple to pop into your bag and there is nothing to say on it that it is essentially for medicine.

"sokawaiiaug2021_5"

And our final item this month comes from My Neighbour Totoro by Studio Ghibli. This award winning film that has captured many generations of viewers, ever since it was first viewed by audiences back in 1988, returns once more to a SoKawaii box with this reusable water bottle. Not only that but it also includes a tea infuser as well just under the lid. An interesting sight and a first for me, as I have never seen this in a simple water bottle design over here in Ireland before. I would assume that this is more for cold tea drinkers, as I doubt this bottle is meant to store hot liquids for long. This design is also the exact same as the one that was included on the My Neighbour Totoro tumbler that wa included in Nihon Boxes June crate this year.

"sokawaiiaug2021_6"

So that is everything that was included in Augusts’ box from SoKawaii. Let me know what you thought about it in the comments below, or tag us across our social media. For me, this was kind of just an okay box as the only items of interest to me were the Kirby cream and Totoro bottle. The rest felt more like fillers. Either way, let’s continue on with how YOU can order your very own subscription to SoKawaii!

12 Months – $31.50 (€26.00mo roughly)

Better yet, here is a $3 discount code that you can use on your first box by clicking this link!

http://sokawaii.refr.cc/maryhealy

Now if you enjoyed August’s box, then just wait for September’s! It’s theme is “After School Party”, which will feature a number of items from Sanrio, Cardcaptor Sakura and Umaru-chan. That box is already sold out and on the way to me and will include a Pompompurin Sakura plushie bag. Stay tuned to SoKawaiis’ social media, as they announced their themes, sneak peaks and opinion polls on what fans want to see next in their boxes. They are very active on their Instagram and really listen to what their customers are looking for – so go have your say now! “Dreamy Creatures”

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another ComicBuzz review! In todays’ post I took a look into what was included in SoKawaii’s June Box. The theme they ran with this time is “Dreamy Creatures”, which features six products from a number of licenses. Including Studio Ghibli, Sanrio, Pokémon and Kirby. So let’s get started on our usual description of what SoKawaii is and what they have to offer you!

"sokawaiijune2021_1"

So our first item this month is surely worth the price of the box alone, and that is the official Totoro plush from My Neighbour Totoro. Studio Ghibli merch is not cheap folks, especially on this side of the World. I have seen this exact plush go for £45 in HMV - and it’s not a massive plush by any regards! So for me, everything else in this box I may have just gotten for free cause this plush was definitely the cream of the crop. It’s super fluffy, plump, stands freely on its own and is an official merch. Although it doesn’t have its toothy, almost creepy looking grin - it is still adorable as heck and perfect to be put on display alongside your Studio Ghibli film collection.

"sokawaiijune2021_2"

"sokawaiijune2021_3"

Moving on we head on over to the world of Pokémon, with this highly adorable Pikachu masking tape. This item was available in four designs, all from the Pokemon Sepia Graffiti collection. Looking into it now, this is a fairly old release, as it first came out back in 2016. However the designs are still just as adorable all the same, I wouldn’t say no to another item from this collection being added again in a future box.

"sokawaiijune2021_4"

We are now onto our second Pokémon item, with this very large Face Towel. With two designs available at random in every box, one of which will feature both Pikachu and Eevee enjoying a relaxing nap. This super soft towel is quite large and is more of a hand towel in my eyes, than a face towel. It looks like 8 times the size of a face cloth and the picture I took of it above is with the towel folded over 3 times!

"sokawaiijune2021_5"

We are now back to stationary with this next item, featuring Kirby. June’s box saw everyone getting a set of two limited edition KIrby clear file folders, which were available in four regional designs. Including Tokyo, Osaka, Okinawa and Fujisan, with Kirby posing at each location. Now this is another older collection, as this was originally released last April. However it is quite adorable, but what does everyone do with their clear files? Do you display them, and if so how? Reach out to us on either Twitter or Facebook and tag us in your posts, to show us your clear file display ideas.

"sokawaiijune2021_6"

Our final two items are both from Sanrio, the largest of which is the My Melody circular floor mat in the picture above. Which is just one of three designs that was available at random in every box, the other two included Cinnamoroll and Hello Kitty. This mat is 50x50cm, probably amongst the smallest you can find and would be perfect to have at your computer desk. Better yet it has numerous anti slip bumps underneath, so it shouldn't go sliding about the place when you walk on it. The upside has a printed design of one of the three characters included, with the name in pastel print and a quote about the character underneath. This item was released in 2020, going by the trademark on the mat. It’s nice and soft, but I could easily see this getting stained very quickly and I’m unsure how machine washable it is. So best be careful with this one.

And our final item is a small Hello Kitty storage box. This clip-closed box would easily work as a small lunch box, for storing your washi/masking tape, for hair ties or even your medication as long as you don’t have small kids in the house that will be quickly drawn to such a cute box as this one. It also looks like a classic vintage Hello Kitty design, one that is sure to last the ages.

There we have it folks, that was Junes’ SoKawaii box. This month had a good mix of items, from decorative, storage, household and stationary from some iconic franchises.

12 Months – $31.50 (€26.00mo roughly)

Now if you enjoyed June’s box, then just wait for July’s! It’s theme is “Enchanting Matsuri”, which will feature a number of items from Sumikko Gurashi, Sanrio and Rilakkuma. That box is already sold out and on the way to me and will include a Sumikko Gurashi electric hand fan! Shame the Irish heatwave has already been and gone! Stay tuned to SoKawaiis’ social media, as they announced their themes, sneak peaks and opinion polls on what fans want to see next in their boxes.

6 Months – $32.00 (€26.50mo roughly)

12 Months – $31.50 (€26.00mo roughly)

Now if you enjoyed May’s box, then just wait for June’s! It’s theme is “Dreamy Creatures”, which will feature a number of items from Sanrio, Kirby, My Neighbour Totoro and Pokémon. That box is already sold out and on the way to me, and will include my very own Totoro plush! Stay tuned to SoKawaiis’ social media, as they announced their themes, sneak peaks and opinion polls on what fans want to see next in their boxes.

They create monthly subscription boxes, jam packed with 100% licensed products from brands such as Hello Kitty, Pokémon, Sanrio, Studio Ghibli and more. The items range from plushies to Gachapon, little figures, stationary, lifestyle, kitchenware and more. The staff at SoKawaii handpicks 5 to 6 cute & useful items exclusive to Japan, pack them up in a very decorative box and send it straight to your doorstep each month. You can also check out their Instagram for even more info and insights into what is currently trending in Japanese arcades and stores. As well as sneak peeks into what they could be including in next month’s box. They also listen to what you would like to be included in future boxes, by asking across their social media accounts.

February’s box theme is “From SoKawaii, With Love”, which will feature goods from Pokémon, Sanrio and San-X, with a few of the products included already announced across their social media.

https://www.sokawaii.com/
;

Well hello again and welcome back for another So Kawaii subscription box review. Each month I take a look into what has been included in the most recent of Japanese anime subscription boxes from both So Kawaii and Nihon Box. Today's entry is none other than November's edition of So Kawaii, which ran with the theme of “Wish Upon A Star”. A theme that included such fan favorite franchises, including Cardcaptor Sakura, Pokemon, Sanrio and Sumikkogurashi. So before we begin looking at what was inside, let’s just do a recap on the company that makes these addictive boxes.

For those of you that don’t know – So Kawaii is a company based in Japan, home of practically everything kawaii (the Japanese word for cute). They create monthly subscription boxes, jam packed with 100% licensed products from brands such as Hello Kitty, Pokémon, Sanrio, Studio Ghibli and more. The items range from plushies to Gachapon, little figures, stationary, lifestyle, kitchenware and more. The staff at So Kawaii handpicks 5 to 7 cute & useful items exclusive to Japan, packs them up in a very decorative box and sends it straight to your doorstep each month.

"sokawaiinov2021_1"

So let’s start off with our first item this month, which comes straight from Sanrio with this adorable Little Twin Stars 'cosme case’. Designed in the shape of a star, with images of Kiki & Lala riding on a magical unicorn with their castle floating on a cloud behind them. This decorative storage box is ideal to help declutter your desk or make-up table, whilst also adding a splash or kawaii to the room.

"sokawaiinov2021_2"

Next up are two items from the San-X brand - Sumikkogurashi. The one on our left is a squishy Ebifurai no Shippo, who is a leftover tail of fried shrimp. This item is incredibly pleasing to just squish in between your hands, I can fully understand now why people have come to be fascinated with items such as this. It also has a rather pleasing scent to it, I am still unsure what exactly it is but I think it’s something like vanilla pudding. This item was one of many characters that were available at random in every box last month, that either came as a squishy bread or a candy pouch.

Our second Sumikkogurashi item is this wooden bookmark which was also entirely made in Japan according to the leaflet. With four character duo designs available at random, I was happy to see that Ebifurai no Shippo returned once again but was featured sitting on top of her friend Tonkatsu. Now I adore books and have gathered quite a collection of bookmarks over the years, from ordering online and in stores. However I must say this one is quite adorable, never have I owned a wooden bookmark before.

"sokawaiinov2021_3"

Moving on, we have our Pokémon item in this latest Re-Ment “Starrium” Season 2 collection. This series has a total of six designs to collect, of which I received the Pikachu and Eevee duo sitting upon a cloud with a starry night sky behind them. It’s almost a shame that you only get one of the designs in every box, as these Re-Ment figures are so addictive to collect as you will always crave a complete set once you see the various designs. This one in particular has now been added to my now full shelf of other Re-Ment figures from various other series including Pokémon, Kirby and San-X.

"sokawaiinov2021_4"

Our largest item this month came in the form of this Kuromi plush from Sanrio. Now you would normally expect to see Kuromi in her iconic black and white colors, even a dark shade of purple would be understandable. However in this month's box, Kuromi has been transformed into this pastel rainbow plush, much like a large TsumTsum. Rather unusual and certainly out of character for the mischievous punk rabbit. However this item is rather unique, as it was made by Sanrio especially for this very box - so you won’t find this anywhere else in the World.

"sokawaiinov2021_5"

Our final item for this rather special So Kawaii box comes from the one and only Cardcaptor Sakura. A franchise that is very close to my own heart, so I am always delighted to see it being included in boxes from time to time. This item however is a tad lacking though, as it is simply two clear zip lock bags. This is a two piece set, which includes a small and medium sized document pocket as I would see it. Now the designs printed on them are adorable as heck, both featuring original images from the Clear Card anime. They can be used to hold your important papers whilst travelling, or maybe even your make up. End of the day, they are just resealable pouch pockets with cute images on the front and back.

And there we have it folks, that was the end of our November box review from SoKawaii. What did you think of this one? Let us know by reaching out to us across our social media accounts. So let’s continue with how you can get your very own SoKawaii box, as well as a small discount for all your first time buyers!

12 Months – $31.50 (€26.00mo roughly)

Better yet, here is a $3 discount code that you can use on your first box by clicking this link! http://sokawaii.refr.cc/maryhealy

Now if you enjoyed November’s box, then just wait for Decembers’! It’s theme is “Kawaii Under The Christmas Tree”, which will feature a number of items from Rilakkuma, Sanrio and Pokémon. That box is already sold out and on the way to me and will include an Aggretsuko Christmas plushie amongst many other items.

So make sure to have your opinions heard over on their social media posts, particularly their Instagram one – https://www.instagram.com/sokawaii/

SoKawaii - September

“After School Party”

Hello again and welcome back to another subscription box review! Today let’s take a good look at what was included in Septembers’ box from SoKawaii. The Japanese monthly subscription box service that gathers a number of super cute and sometimes exclusive items each month, packs them neatly into a very striking box and ships them right to your doorstep. September’s box ran with the theme of ‘After School Party’, as the new school semester starts for many of you out there. So let’s get started with our usual SoKawaii info!

12 Months – $31.50 (€26.00mo roughly)

Better yet, here is a $3 discount code that you can use on your first box by clicking this link!

http://sokawaii.refr.cc/maryhealy

Now if you enjoyed September’s box, then just wait for Octobers’! This month we took an in depth look at what was included in Augusts’ box, which featured six items across Sanrio, Studio Ghibli and Kirby. Some were useful everyday items, others were decorative, whilst the rest were more from a beauty category. So let’s get started with the usual, and all important info!

For those of you that don’t know – SoKawaii is a company based in Japan, home of practically everything kawaii (the Japanese word for cute). So make sure to have your opinions heard over on their social media posts, particularly their Instagram one – https://www.instagram.com/sokawaii/

They are very active on their Instagram and really listen to what their customers are looking for – so go have your say now!

SoKawaii are back to shipping their boxes via Japan Post, so delivery may take a number of weeks. Whether you subscribe month to month, or for their 3, 6 or even 12 month package options – there are savings to be had.

1 Month – $35.00 (€29.00mo roughly)

3 Months – $33.50 (€28.00mo roughly)

6 Months – $32.00 (€26.50mo roughly)

12 Months – $31.50 (€26.00mo roughly)Better yet, here is a $3 discount code that you can use on your first box by clicking this link!

http://sokawaii.refr.cc/maryhealy

Now if you enjoyed April's box, then just wait for May’s! It’s theme is “Springtime, Happy Time!” Featuring a number of items from San-X, My Neighbour Totoro and Sanrio. This box is already sold out, but act quick if you want June’s box where you can get your very own Totoro plush! So let’s get the company description out of the way, shall we!

SoKawaii is a company based in Japan, home of practically everything kawaii (the Japanese word for cute).
