SoKawaii September Box Review

This week I received by 5th consecutive SoKawaii box, filled with goodies straight from Japan. The second I signed for my light blue box, I was already excited to open it. Unfortunately I had a full day at work to get through first. To start off, the theme for September’s box is “Friendship Reunion”, which has items from Gudetama, Pokémon, Kirby and Kiki’s Delivery Service.

For those of you that haven’t heard of SoKawaii before, here’s a little info. SoKawaii is a monthly subscription service that handpicks 6 to 8 cute & useful items exclusive in Japan, pack them up real cute and send it straight to your doorstep. The items range from plushies to Gachapon, little figures, stationary, lifestyle, kitchenware and more. Also everything you get is 100% Officially Licensed, so no knock offs. You can also check out their Instagram for even more info, sneak peaks and insights into what is currently appearing in Japanese arcades.

So first up in this box are the Pokémon items, beginning with a trio of tumbles. All of which feature Pikachu’s face, and come in three different designs. Perfect for when you have company over. They also come with lids and straws, so even better for the Summer time when you want to have a few drinks outside. Now who wouldn’t want to enjoy a cheeky cocktail in one of these?! They also seem to be fairly sturdy and well made, so these could last a few years and will definitely be used regularly. I’d just hand wash them to be on the safe side.

Here we have our second Pokémon item, in the form of a mochi plush that fits comfortably in your hand, so it’s perfect to put in your bag without anyone knowing. It’s very high quality and is made of stretchy material that gives it its’ mochi name. Slowpoke is one of four Pokémon that you could get, the others are of course Pikachu, Eevee and Snorlax. All are officially licensed, which adds to the excitement of this box each month.

Gudetama is one of Sanrio’s more recent popular characters, which comes in the form of a lazy egg. It can be found on hundreds of products, but kitchenware seems the most appropriate. Now So Kawaii not only include pushies and little figures in their boxes, they also put in some really useful & practical items, like the Pikachu tumblers for example. So our Gudetama item in this month’s crate are two food bag clips. Very handy in the kitchen to tie up those pasta bags and slice bread packets. So this item is cute and practical – so a win win in my books!

Our Kirby item is a mystery Kirby terrarium from the DX Memories Re-ment series. There is a selection of six figures to collect, and I got the battle one with both Kirby and Meta Knight. They don’t take up much space on a shelf, are well built and have so much detail involved. I love these little figures. I would suggest though that when you have them assembled, put a small bit of tape on the bottom of the bottle so if it falls there is less of a chance the small figures go missing. Also they seem to be perfectly acceptable to put on your work desk. So, what figure did you get in your box?

Now on to our last two items, which feature some stationary. We have our Kiki’s Delivery Service notebook – Officially licensed! A serious plus for me, also it’s covered in Jijis’! Which if you couldn’t tell is my favorite character in the Studio Ghibli film. Each page is also detailed around the border. It has a good number of pages included, although would fill up fairly quickly if you use it for college/school. Now to further decorate this notebook, SoKawaii have included a sheet of chubby shiba stickers. These cute puppies are sure to brighten up anything you put them on.

And that is it for this month’s SoKawaii box! What has been your favourite item included and have you signed up yet for your very own box? If not, here are all the details you need to know. So here is the price break down of the box each month and the savings you can get, weather you subscribe month to month, or for 3, 6 or even 12 months. The longer you subscribe, the cheaper the box is each month.

1 MONTH – $35.00/mo

3 MONTHS – $33.50/mo

6 MONTHS – $32.00/mo

12 MONTHS – $31.50/mo

Now if you liked everything you saw in this review of September’s crate, rest assured that the items are different every month. Each box has 6 to 8 items included and a few of them will be revealed online through the SoKawaii social media as the weeks go by. October’s box theme is “Spooky Tales”, which will feature goods from Sailor Moon, Kiby, Sanrio, Pokémon and Kiki’s Delivery Service, with a few of the products included already announced across their social media.

Better yet there is free worldwide shipping, but I do suggest spending that extra few euros or dollars to get the track shipping, so you can locate your parcel once dispatched. So that is September’s box, I will be back again next month to show you what October’s box has in store!
