Nippets is a hidden object game inspired by the joy of people watching and telling small stories. This game was developed and published by Blink Industries. There are several hidden object games like Hidden Folks, Hidden Cats and many more. Nippets is currently only available for PC Steam.
Nippets is a charming hidden-object game where you are tasked with finding misplaced items and returning them to where they belong. Each level gives you a set of outlined objects at the bottom of the screen, and it is up to you to scan the scene to locate them. Hovering over each item gives you a small hint, like snippets of context, that help guide you toward their location. These descriptions feel like fragments of people’s lives, adding a subtle layer of storytelling to the experience. It encourages you to slow down, observe and really take in the beautifully hand-drawn world around you.

What makes Nippets different from other hidden-object games is how interactive it is. The game is not just about clicking on items, but rather interacting with the environment. You can shake trees, open windows to peek inside homes, and interact with all sorts of elements in the world. The game gets the player to think outside the box, which makes finding items feel rewarding rather than just clicking on objects. For instance, when I found Billy’s ball stuck in a tree during the Spring level, I kept clicking on the ball, yet nothing happened, thinking it might be a bug, until I realised I needed to shake the tree for it to fall.

Nippets features a hand-drawn isometric art style that feels extremely cosy. Each environment is packed with so much detail, from packed grocery store shelves to sunny beachside gyms. The colour palette is soft yet vibrant, with each level using distinct tones to reflect the specific season and setting, whether that be a forest or a ski resort. The game features four themed levels: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, each filled with seasonal activities and lively characters. This included activities such as people sunbathing on the beach, walking their dogs in the park, and ice-skating on a frozen pond; every scene feels full of life. Despite the relaxing visuals, the game has a good amount of challenge, which makes Nippets even more enjoyable.

As a part of the visuals, what truly stood out was how characters were constantly moving and going about their day, which makes every scene feel like a snapshot of a living world rather than a still puzzle. Once you return items, small animations play out, adding a satisfying sense of completion. The interactivity did not just stop at the levels either. Even the main menu is playful; you can move magnets on a fridge, interact with a toaster, and even pet the cats. It is these small touches that give the game so much personality. The soundtrack complements the experience perfectly. It is calm, relaxing and fits the tone of the game nicely. The sound effects add even more charm, especially when interacting with characters (endlessly posking someone just to hear their goofy ‘oof’ sounds never gets old).

There are also plenty of fun references and Easter eggs scattered throughout. As a fan of Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared, I loved spotting little nods like the DHMIS poster in the cinema. There are also playful inclusions like plushies and other recognisable references from other games that reward players who take the time to explore every corner and unlock secrets.

I completed the game in about two hours, and while the experience was thoroughly enjoyable, it did leave me wanting more. The gameplay is strong, and it would be great to see additional levels added in the future.

Nippets is a fun hidden-object game that is set in a vibrant, interactive world filled with charm and surprises. With its relaxing pace, engaging mechanics, and hand-drawn environments, it’s the perfect game to unwind with while still enjoying a bit of a challenge, so be sure to check out Nippets!
