Summary:
Issue three takes place before the first issue of Toxic Avenger, as it focuses on Senator Lindsey proposing a clean act; a proposal for Tromaville, dealing with the toxic waste and chemicals that plague the streets. We switch over to another scene, where a robotic convention takes place; called the Robo-Reveal.
The robot named Sentiac walks around a conference hall examining humans, to the point of eradicating some convention attendees. Toxie goes to a yearly physical with his doctor, and his doctor tells him that he’s in prime shape for a mutant, as he goes home to discover the sentient robot named Sentiac. Toxie groups up with other avengers such as No-Zone, a mutant with an enlarged nose; Fungirl, a girl with a spot of fungus moulds growing from her crown; and Junkyard, a mutant dog with fleas.
Sentiac travels to Tromaville to confront the avengers, as they convert him. After a few kicks and punches, Sentiac, along with the avengers, visit the ground zero site where the first mutant transformation took place. The issue ends with Sentiac leaving Tromaville, only to return to his maker.
The dialogue remains tight as each page turn hits you with a witty comment on humanity or a punch in speech that gave me a laugh. I think it’s interesting that the theme of this issue was a sentient machine running questions, scenarios, and ultimately acting on those impulses and desires of its own. Another great issue of The Toxic Avenger; I enjoyed this one more than the last. Comic readers that enjoy dark comedy should get a kick out of this one.
