Displate Poster Review

Displate is the go-to brand if you want premium metal posters that look good and actually last. Their whole thing is magnet-mounted art prints; super clean, no drilling, no mess. They have got a ton of options too: different sizes (small to extra large), matte or gloss finishes, framed or unframed and honestly an insane amount of artwork. Like, thousands from small and big artists, plus officially licensed stuff, gaming, anime, movies, everything. Displate also offers personalisation, so you can customise a poster to what you want. They also have a membership for people who are hardcore collectors or like switching up their room vibe often. I think it is pretty cool for anyone who decorates a lot or just wants to get their next best poster. Displate was super kind and sent us two medium matte prints (45 x 32 cm): ‘Toothless Card’ from How To Train Your Dragon and ‘Staircase’ from Squid Games. Each costs €49.99.

The posters arrived in a flat cardboard pack that is eco-friendly. Everything inside was neatly arranged, and they even included a sticker and a discount code, whereas nothing beats a good deal. Our first impression of the poster was how light it was compared to what we expected from a metal poster. This was surprisingly good as they feel like premium quality and are not heavy, so they are easy to move around or reposition.

The matte finishes on the posters we received seem like they would be the better option without even having a gloss finish. The reason for this is that with a gloss finish, you would expect some reflection, which is not observed with the matte poster. The matte finish looks clean and works so nicely with the artwork.

The ‘Toothless Card’ poster felt like a prop that was pulled straight out of the movies. It was designed like an ancient scroll with discoloured textures, runic lettering and a sketch-like illustration of Toothless, which looks like something Hiccup drew in his journal. The colour palette is warm and rustic, and the metal gives it this subtle premium sheen that makes it feel more like decoration than a poster. It is sturdy, hangs completely flat on the wall and brings such a nice cosy fantasy vibe to the room. This is perfect if you are into dragons or want Viking-style art.

The ‘Staircase’ poster was a contrast to the Toothless poster in the best way possible. It is bold, super vibrant, and has a chaotic, trippy, maze-like layout that fans of Squid Game will instantly recognise. These are the stairs where the guards and players walk through on their way to each deadly game. The pink guard uniforms, the masked shapes, and even small references to major moments from the show are packed so effortlessly and beautifully into this design, which grabs your attention. The colours pop on the metal and make it feel 3D When you walk it into the room, it is definitely a show stealer. The print is crisp, and the visuals are sharp, which brings together the surreal dystopian energy that goes well with the show.
Toothless is warm and rustic, and the Staircase is modern and energetic. They both look amazing and go to show how versatile Displate’s art styles are.

Mounting the posters is the easiest thing ever. You need no nails, no hammer, and no worry about wrecking your wall. You get two items: a sticky pad and a magnet. All you need to do is three simple steps: you peel, stick the pads to your wall, attach the magnet, and the poster instantly snaps on tightly. I was worried that there would be a gap between the side of the poster and the back of the poster, which has slight depth to it, which fits the magnet in well, and snugs the poster to the wall with no movement. If you do plan on rearranging your posters, you can always buy extra magnet pads from Displate and swap your posters around as you like, which is super convenient.

Displate’s metal posters extremely impressed us. The size, weight and durability all feel worth the price. As someone who usually hangs paper posters (which tear, wrinkle and get annoying), these feel like such a massive upgrade. These posters do not fade, will not rip and can easily be moved. We have had these posters for almost two weeks now, and there are no signs of movement or damage, suggesting these posters will last long with no worry.

The only thing to keep in mind is that the price varies depending on a few factors, including size, finish, frame, etc. However, the quality of these posters matches the price, and you are not buying anything worth less. Also, Displate released limited-edition drops pretty often. We recently saw that they released the Stranger Things limited edition set just in time for the new season, which looks insane. Displate offers something for everyone, and you can never really go wrong with a poster, which is what I love so much about this.

With the holidays coming up, a Displate is a perfect gift. You can pick something based on someone’s favourite show, movie, game or even make a custom one. Pretty much everyone has an empty spot on their wall that they can easily fill in with these stunning posters. If you are someone who loves decorating, collecting or wants an artwork that will last, then Displate is just for you. Make sure to check out Displate, and there is always something new dropping, and the collections just keep getting better!

Overall: 10/10
