Assassin's Creed has a long legacy of delivering open-world action RPGs and Valhalla continues this well-trodden path.

You take the reins of Eivor, the central character in this game and his journey of being a Viking in Norway in the 9th century. From the start, you get a background to Eivor's upbringing, his values and ideals. All these things will shape how you play the game and the choices you make. The game is a mix of wonderful huge open environments with towns, villages and cities dotted around the map. A mix of puzzles, combat and exploring the countryside and waterways too. Longships and boats are used as transport between islands. The game uses this to enhance your movement from place to place as well as horseback too. As with any Assassin's Creed games, there is an element of stealth too which is obligatory in certain parts of the story. However, for large periods of the game, it's up to you how you approach the world. The storyline incorporates the nomadic nature of the Vikings, their customs and beliefs.

"ACV_1"

The game is stunning, the environments, characters and all visual effects have the hallmark of an Assassin's game. In this action RPG, you roam the world completing the main quests and side quests to level up Eivor for bigger battles and wars that will come. I found plenty of variety in the gameplay, characters and stories. I liked that animus didn't feature as prevalent as previous outings. There was one time the game was interrupted to the modern-day, it did break the illusion of being in 9th century Norway. While I get the idea of the animus and the sci-fi elements of it plus to bring a cohesive narrative amongst the many stories, I preferred being in Eivor's world without the animus distractions. This is a minor gripe.

"ACV_2"

Action, fighting and combat elements are intuitive and impactful, the addition of special abilities means you can custom your fight style too. The game has a rich levelling up system that allows you to build your character as you see fit. Voice acting, cutscenes and dramatic interludes enhance Valhalla, I think the developers have managed to keep all the elements of the gameplay and story well balanced and addictive.

The Xbox Series X|S / PS5 supports a performance mode which adapts the resolution to keep the game running at 60FPS. Similarly, for these consoles, there is a quality mode that maintains the best resolution while maintaining 30FPS. The game features ray-tracing and dynamic 4K. More games should adopt this, it makes the gamine experience more predictable.

"ACV_3"

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is fantastic: the game has managed to mix RPG gaming elements, action gameplay, huge environments, stunning visuals, levelling up system, storytelling elements and puzzles into a cohesive game where it all fits together. Side missions and main missions all make sense. There is a wonderful cadence to the game, you become immersed in the world of the Vikings. I found it super-addictive and found myself coming back to either finish side quests or the main missions. I have to say it's one of my favourite games of the year. Addictive gameplay, stunning voice acting, graphics and amazing action in an open world.

Overall: 9/10
Developer: Ubisoft Toronto

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One (Reviewed)

Genre: Action, Adventure

Publisher: Ubisoft

Watch Dogs: Legion is a massively open-world game. Thematically Watch Dogs is based around the effects of technology in this future dystopian world of London. Ubisoft has done a stunning job in recreating London. The level of detail and attention to detail makes it feel like London. I was instantly impressed by the environment and the sheer amount of madness in this game.

"watchdogslegion_1"

Watch Dogs is primarily a sand-boxed game where you can approach missions in a few ways: hacking, all-out attack and stealth. Hacking is the core element of this game that differentiates it to its peers. Hacking takes two forms: stealthy or offensive. Hacking in stealth mode allows you to complete missions with minimal casualties. Hacking allows for chaotic mayhem and destruction as you use your drones and turrets against enemies. You can take the approach of just going out all guns blazing and dispatching enemies. You can play in a hitman way and take out enemies in a stealthy way. How you play is your choice, I found a mix of elements to be the most fun. The hacking of drones and cars is where the game shines. It's lots of fun. As with any Watch Dogs, you can take control of a whole host of vehicles and enjoy the stunning views of London.

One twist with the games is the ability to recruit almost any character you encounter in the world to fight for your cause. These recruits become playable characters. Each character has their strengths and weaknesses and unique abilities. You can enable permadeath which means as your characters die, they can't respawn. If all your characters die, the game is over when permadeath is enabled. This feature adds another element to the solid gameplay, a real sense of tension and suspense.

"watchdogslegion_2"

The gameplay is familiar to any GTA, drive, kill and finish the story. The gameplay is easy to pick up. The hacking elements can be tricky at times when doing it through the lens of a security camera. The voice acting and your sidekick Bagley add a voice of reason to the whole story. The main missions are well structured, dystopian excels through the storytelling of the gameplay. There is enough variety in gameplay to keep you occupied for hours on end. If you finish the game, there are tons of side quests, recruiting opportunities and mini-games like football and darts.

"watchdogslegion_3"

There will be online and co-op, it's pencilled in for December.

Legion is lots of fun. You can spend hours just wondering around the city and taking in the sights. Gameplay and in particular, the hacking mechanisms and the use of drones add a whole another layer to the gameplay. It's fun to hijack a drone and take out the Albion henchmen. Car mechanics are decent. It treads the line between a simulator and arcade racing, it's decent but not the highlight of the game. In conclusion, it's worth picking up and will have you coming back for more.

Overall: 8/10

Cloudpunk is the journey of the newbie driver, Rania, who has fled her home-world to become a delivery driver in Navalis to make ends meet. The game centres on Rania's first night delivering packages for Cloudpunk, an illicit delivery company. Game mechanics involve driving through a dystopian pixelated world and hand-delivering packages in either first person or 3rd person. While the mechanics and game-play are straightforward and easy to get to grips, it mainly serves as a way to deliver the heavily driven narrative story of Navalis and the ills of this world.

The neon-noir pixelated world of Navalis is visually stunning. The mixture of neon-bright skyscapes mixed with darkness brings the bleakness of the world to life. Pixelated blocky rendering adds to the city and doesn't detract from the game. Different parts of the city have different density of people, cars and buildings which makes each part of the city worthy of a visit. The main storyline will guide you through the many parts of the city.

"cloudpunk_1"

This game is driven heavily by the interactions of "Control" (the voice of Cloudpunk) and Rania. However, as you complete more missions and interact with people, you begin to scratch away at the surface of Navalis and find out more about this place. The missions make Rania choose between keeping the status quo in the city or challenging the powerful and rich. Rania's AI companion Camus acts as a sounding board, large parts of the game involve monologues where we uncover more about Rania and the isolation she feels. The game excels in the narrative aspects, the storyline and creating the world and people of Navalis. There are a few drawbacks, the use of character animation as opposed to static pictures would have brought the characters to life when they are conversing.

I was playing the game on the Xbox and found the load times frustratingly slow. When the maps did load, I found your car unresponsive and then frame rates would severely drop too. Elements of the map and markers weren't particularly clear especially at the start of the game. These were all minor annoyances in an otherwise very enjoyable game.

"cloudpunk_2"

Cloundpunk is an interesting mix of narrative-driven game-play with superb visuals that embrace the neon-noir style. Thematically the game looks at poverty, isolation, greed and class which it underpins the majority of missions. The interaction between Control and Rania drives the narrative and is further enhanced by missions. Certain missions will require the player to make judgement calls on what the best approach is. The game is about 9 hours long. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, the mechanics and how it played. The load times and framerate issues were a minor issue in the grand scheme of things.

It is a hack and slash that requires thought and strategy, you can't just button bash through monsters, spirits, and bosses. It's light on the RPG elements but builds a hugely impressive and immersive world.

The first thing that struck me is the art style, hand-drawn Chinese art style. It underpins all the aspects of the game from level design, character design, demon, and boss design. This wonderful art-style brings all the aspects together. The level design and game presentation look amazing, it's a visual feast. On top of this, the wonderful character animation brings your character and his actions to life. You get immersed in this dark and demon-filled world from your first battle. The level design complements this world so well, the world enhances the story and game progression. The animation of the character is just superb, every enemy and boss has the same attention to detail as the protagonist. The art style brings this game to life and to be honest, I haven't been this impressed by the visual of a game in a long time. You could spend hours in awe of the visuals alone.

"easternexorcist1"

The game centres around a hack and slash combat style with a highly responsive control system. Every action you make with your character is fluid, realistic, and responsive. This game perfects the mechanics of combat and character movement, you get the sense you are in total control. There is no lag or jitteriness in your character control. The game places an understanding that each mechanic serves a purpose. To successfully negotiate the game you need to master and understand when to use each mechanic. Every aspect of the game has it's a purpose and as the player explores, the more you learn. Eastern Exorcist is a difficult but rewarding challenge, while it may become frustrating at times, there is a huge sense of achievement as you progress.

Game controls and the visual feast on display emphasise the two most important parts of the game, the other less integral part is the RPG element. I'm not a huge RPG fan, I like a mix of RPG and combat with the emphasis being on combat and game mechanics. For me the game strikes the right balance, there are some light RPG elements, and the storyline complements and enhances the game. I loved the storyline is set out fairly early and this darkness sets a backdrop for the entire game. The dark levels, bosses, and world play well with the story of the battles in the game. The story element isn't obsolete but is somewhat of an unsung hero in the game.

"easternexorcist2"

In totality, I thoroughly enjoyed the game however I did find parts of the game samey. In between each boss fight, I found there was a level of repetition of platform sections and killing demons. Some more variety of puzzles would have complemented the killing a lot more. I think this is where you could find criticism of the game. I felt the variation in bosses more than outweighed the pre-boss section.

This is a real gem, wonderfully animated and designed. A good learning curve with a lot of frustration at times due to boss fights, the frustration is the unforgiving nature of the game if you use the wrong mechanic as opposed to a badly designed or skewed game. The payoff of beating each boss and progressing to the next one and the relief in some cases. It's a wonderfully tough game that requires a level of concentration to beat it. It's a must buy.

Overall: 9/10

Developer: Asobo Studio

Platforms: PlayStation 4 (Reviewed), Xbox One, PC

Genre: Action/Adventure

Publisher: Focus Home Interactive

Follow the grim tale of young Amicia and her little brother Hugo (Who has an unknown disease forcing him to spend his childhood locked in his room, so for that reason he never saw the world per se) in a heartrending journey through one of the darkest hours of history. Hunted by Inquisition soldiers and surrounded by unstoppable swarms of rats, Amicia and Hugo will learn how to trust each other as they struggle to survive against overwhelming odds and will fight to find the doctor that was taking care of Hugo in this brutal, unforgiving world.

The Year is 1349. The plague ravages the Kingdom of France. Amicia and her younger brother Hugo are pursued by the Inquisition through villages devastated by the disease. On their way, they will have to join forces with other children and evade swarms of rats using fire and light. Aided only by the link that binds their fates together, they will face untold horrors in their struggle to survive, as their adventure begins… the time of innocence ends.

"A_Plague_Tale-Innocence12"

Enough of what we know already! Let´s get into this game!

A Plague Tale: Innocence it’s a third person stealth/story driven kind of game but if you are not a fan of the genre (like I was BEFORE playing this game) I STRONGLY advise you to try this game out! The game follows a straight line so there is no real difficulty for you to accomplish the game (There is no Easy, Medium or Hard mode), the game also doesn’t give you many options other than where you should go if you try to go to a place that the game doesn’t want you to go you will face an invisible wall that blocks you from going there, the open areas have a path for you to follow but you can look for items like “gifts”, these items have a story behind them, and if you are into history its guaranteed that you will like to read each one of them.

The puzzles: The puzzles aren’t hard to solve, because you always have the resources you need either at hand or really near you when you need it and the characters explain exactly what you have to do and how to do it. Don’t get me wrong! That DEFINITELY does not make the game bad, actually, the puzzles and sneaking through the inquisitors are one of the best things on the game. To help you get past the inquisitors and the puzzles Amicia has a Sling, which you can give a good upgrade, after learning alchemy you can create stun ammo or fireballs (Or Fire Stones if you like hahaha). You can also expand your carrying capacity, improve your resistance “armor” or even reduce the noise you make when walking with these upgrades. Playing as Amicia the game mechanics work very well BUT I do have a small issue on that part… for the first hours that I played the game, I found it very “heavy” to control Amicia, after getting used to it, it was ok. I read some people saying that other characters could be a challenge for you to fulfil your puzzles and that they have a bit of a delay to follow your commands and that could be the end for you… I strongly disagree, if you play the game properly and pay attention to the NPCs you won´t have any problem like I didn’t. Another great thing on the game is that if a rat or an inquisitor gets you… that’s it… try again! BUT this isn’t a real problem to this game because the auto-save is very reliable, it saves your progress all the time so you don’t go back too much from where you died.

One of the options you have is to face the inquisitors with your sling and for that, you can count with an auto-aim system to hit them on the head, don´t try to turn into some kind of Rambo and face many inquisitors at once because you won’t be able to face too many of them. Aside from your sling, you can choose to throw stones (Or jars) with your hand to call enemies´ attention and the most important thing of all is that when you use your hand instead of using your sling you don’t make any noise.

"A_Plague_Tale-Innocence11"

If I wasn’t writing a review I would just say “NAILED IT” hahaha but like Jack, the Ripper would say “Let´s go piece by piece” … (This expression works better in Portuguese I guess hahaha).

RATS DUDE! RATS EVERYWERE! ANGRY! BLOODTHISTY ANGRY MULTIPLE RATS! They are the main thing on this game, the sound of them squealing around you or when they break through walls or come out of the floor… Craving for a piece of your flesh is real… really disturbing! But in some points, it’s a bit “clumsy?” or “bumbling?” I´m not sure… the thing is that they walk through each other and don´t follow the laws of gravity (aside from other bugs), which breaks the immersion for a few seconds, unfortunately. Like I said before, the sound and the number of rats that are coming for you is at least agonizing as hell, as it should be.

The characters voice: That is something that the creators need to work on it and improve a bit. I played the game both in English and French to see if there was any “acting” difference and the conclusion was: None at all… It´s the same, to be honest It was really hard to play the game in French because I don´t speak French so I needed the subtitles and since the game has some really struggling action scenes, you have to choose between read what they are talking or run for your life…its nearly impossible to do both.

The Soundtrack/ Environment: They have made a BEAUTIFUL soundtrack for “The Plague Tale” it has all the elements that the game atmosphere needs and totally goes with the scenarios and what the game is trying to pass! The soundtrack basically walks together with the environment that is full of accurate history moments from the XIV century, everything is well built, and the graphics are beautiful, giving you the exact sensation of how things look like on that dark period, it is very immersive.

"A_Plague_Tale-Innocence08"

I really hope that “Innocence” it’s just the beginning and that this game is just a first chapter of the “Plague Tales” because you can easily see that this game is made by people who LOVE what they´re doing! What they accomplished here is quite unique, because every time we see a medieval game the first things that come to our mind is “Ohhh another RPG… An Action game… etc” but not this time! They brought a very new approach to the theme.

The game has 17 chapters and has a lot of stealth/sneak parts which I never really enjoyed until now. The graphics are excellent! The plot is really HEAVY and the kid´s innocence makes everything darker. Unfortunately, there are some ugly bugs (which I understand in a company that is “starting” this kind of games now). The game has some strong points like the real danger feeling that the action scenes give you and how well built is the brother and sister relationship and also the fact that the kid you´re protecting is not annoying like normal kids in games are, these elements help the game to “catch” you pretty quickly.

"A_Plague_Tale-Innocence04"

The environment is unbelievable! They are scary, disturbed, horrible, gory and gives you that agony that we all love in a game, right? Hahaha, the developers described their landscapes like this:

“This Game may contain content not appropriate for all ages, or may not be appropriate for viewing at work: Frequent Violence or Gore, General Mature Content”.

So that’s it! The game has all the elements to be an EPIC 10, but unfortunately, it is really hard to get it right on the first time. Hope to hear about the next game really soon.

Overall: 8/10
;

It plays along the line of a modern Assassin's Creed game but with a heavy emphasis on puzzles. It's nowhere near a straight Assassin's Creed clone and does diverge away from AC. I was expecting something similar to AC but was pleasantly surprised.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising comes to life with a cartoon style of graphics, it's bright and wonderful, but quickly turns dark and foreboding. It alternates between both quite a bit. The stage is the age of The Greek Gods, and the game uses a voiceover of two Gods: Zeus and Prometheus to tell the tale of Fenyx and the protagonist's fight against Typhoon (deadliest Titan in Greek mythology). While there are elements of the parkour in Fenyx Rising a whole host of extra features make the gameplay vastly different from AC. This is mainly due to the sheer amount of puzzle sections on the game.

"immortlasfenyxrising1"

First off Fenyx possesses a host of powers and acquires extra "Godly" powers like flight (Wings of Daidalos) just to name one. You have the ability to run, fight, mount stead or fly through this open world that is full of mythological beasts (Cyclops, Minotaur and Medusa). Fenyx emphasises these gameplay elements throughout and there is a ton of variety. I think Fenyx comes into its own after about 3-4 hours into the game where you have levelled up sufficiently and have the broad variety of weapons and special powers to take on the vaults (dungeons). Puzzles come in the form of speed run challenges, archery puzzles and platforming puzzles too. This variety keeps you engaged. As this is an action RPG the fighting mechanics are solid and a decent levelling up system makes you do side missions too. The fighting is fun and you can chain huge combos whilst using additional God powers too.

"immortalsfenyxrising2"

The voice acting, visuals and level design are superb. The narration of Zeus and Prometheus is somewhat of a bad comedy duo with some Dad jokes thrown in. It's not amazingly funny but I can see the intent to lighten and narrate throughout the game. The narrative does succeed and paints a more vibrant picture of the world and mythology. The Greek mythology theme permeates the whole game and design and adds an air of authenticity to the game.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X (I assume) support a quality mode 30 fps at 4K native and a performance mode that supports 60 fps dynamic 4K.

"immortlasfenyxrising3"

The game plays phenomenally well once you get used to the controls and all the variety of specials you will acquire. There is a huge amount of puzzles, enemies and diversion in the world to keep you coming back. The powering up system is rich enough without being complex, it's a fun game that you will lose hours in. It's a surprising mix of puzzles merged to an open-world RPG. I have put in a lot of hours and keep coming back to the game.

Overall: 8/10
Developer: Giant Squid

Platforms: Apple TV via Apple Arcade, iPhone, iPad, Mac, PC, PS4, PS5 (Reviewed)

Genre: Adventure

Publisher: Annapurna Interactive

Pathless is a wonderful gaming experience where you take the role of an archer with the aid of an eagle. The game is a journey through a forest that has been corrupted and you must defeat the bosses to bring it back to normality.

The game is set in a cel-shaded forest and the art style is the texture of the world you inhabit. The game is open-world technically but the gameplay is fairly linear, the game involves solving a series of puzzles and navigating the world to each boss section. A huge emphasis is placed on the exploration of the world.

"thepathless1"

The game's main mechanic is using your bow to hit diamonds which gives you a burst of energy that speeds you through the terrain. This is a satisfying sensation when you hit each diamond too. Using this mechanic you can chain together a series of hits to race through the amazing world. There is a real sense of achievement chaining your movement throughout the game. Your eagle is your trusty companion that lets you fly and glide through the landscapes. Puzzles either use a combination of using your bow, pressure points and elements of platforming games to scale buildings. The lack of a map is interesting but further emphasises the gameplay through exploration. The sonar mechanic is used to help you to guide you to points of interest.

"thepathless2"

The setting, detail and artwork are amazing. It has a unique feel and the soundtrack (Austin Wintory) is used effectively throughout. The cel-shaded textures and the pace of the game adds a real serene feel at times. Game mechanics as mentioned above gives a sense of movement, gliding and flying, it's a wonderful experience. The boss elements are where the land lights up and the use of the richer reds and fire transform this game. This dichotomy enhances the feel of the game, the score sets the mood and binds the games together.

"thepathless3"

The one downfall is that there isn't much replay value in the game. The game mechanics and puzzles aren't too complex and it's a bit samey at times. When a boss is encountered it breaks up the gameplay considerably and turns the game into another cinematic feast. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the cinematics of the world. I liked the emphasis on experiencing the game with the sparse tutorial and no map. It's a game that craves to be explored. It's something that will take probably less than 10 hours to complete. If you are looking for something a bit different on the PS5/PS4, I would recommend getting it. Observer: System Redux is a psychological horror thriller set in a futuristic cyberpunk world. You play the role of Daniel Lazarski (Rutger Hauer) an observer detective. You investigate an anonymous call and you follow this journey through this dystopian world.

The first thing is the striking visuals mixed with the mixture of cyberpunk elements, modified humans and a sense of unease of your surroundings. It's a first-person detective game where you have to get to the bottom of a series of strange events. As a neural detective, the key elements involve investigating crime scenes using your additional powers (human mods). There is one critical ability which is the ability to hack the minds of humans. Observer draws on this gameplay mechanic to help further the investigation. It's also used for dramatic effect to provide further tension, suspense and horror to the game.

"observer_r1"

The voice acting is superb, the interactions with NPCs is fantastic, there is an amazing amount of detail. Corridors and hallways are dimly lit, it's a dark world with neon lights that stand out. The artwork, levels and the whole game combines all the aspects superbly. The game is linear but there is a wonderful build-up of the atmosphere, tension and dread throughout. The voice acting and characters you meet make each interaction noteworthy and interesting. It all plays into this fantastic horror game. The tone, music, and effects all add to the air of uncertainty too.

"observer_r2"

I played on the Xbox Series X, this version has updated graphics (textures, models and effects), the graphics look superb and provides a much-needed update for next-gen consoles. PS 5 and Xbox Series X support 4K at 60 fps, this is with no ray tracing.

"observer_r3"

Characters, details, voice acting and cinematics add a superb sense of dread, horror and an uneasy sense to the whole game. This game has a tense and thrilling atmosphere that underpins the whole game. It's eerie, moody and full of dread. The game gets the mix of cinematics and cyberpunk elements right. All the elements work amazingly well together.

Overall: 8/10
;

The first set of DLC has come out for Valhalla, titled Wrath of the Druids. The expansion sees Eivor on his way to Ireland where you will pick up a new story arc and will see the amazing expanse that is Ireland.

To play the DLC you will have to complete one of the two first story arcs in England and an option to sail to Ireland will come via a stranger who will arrive in your camp. The power level in Ireland is 55 but it will adjust to your character level. This means you don't have to progress that much in the main game to enjoy the DLC. If you have played through Valhalla you will be higher than 55.

"ACV_druids1"

Ireland is a huge new area you get to explore, the map is impressive. The terrain is a lot more rugged and mountainous than the original game. If you are from Ireland or have visited Ireland, you will familiar with the locations which is a nice touch. As a gamer from Ireland, it's novel to travel to in-game places you know and have visited. The game does a good job of having that Irish vibe with the voice acting and lore of Ireland portrayed well. Irish landscapes are well rendered and you get a sense of life in the Viking era of Ireland. A mixture of Latin, Irish and English is spoken too. Druids add a sense of mysticism and mystery to the proceedings too. The architecture is faithfully recreating buildings of that era. You will be able to equip new unique items such as clothing and weapons too. You will encounter new enemies, animals throughout the DLC. Ubisoft gets the mix of a new place to play through with solid gameplay, stunning visuals and intriguing story arcs to boot. It was a joy to play and see places I was familiar with. There are new abilities and new gameplay mechanics and buildings too. It's a really solid offering and it adds to the game.

"ACV_druids2"

The standalone price for the season pass for Valhalla costs €39.99.

The season pass is included in the Gold and Ultimate editions of Valhalla.

The season pass will include access to Wrath of the Druids (released 13th May) and The Siege of Paris which will be released later in the year.

"ACV_druids3"

While the standalone price for the season pass may seem high, the Wrath of Druids is sizeable about 13 hours of main quests and 5 hours of side quests. It depends on if you need another fix of Valhalla, and if you do I think you will get your money's worth, this only part 1 of the DLC. I liked the new arcs, the additional skills, new enemies and the general Irish feel about the DLC. I have been to a lot of these places so it was interesting seeing the "Viking" version in the game. The voice acting, mysticism, the darkness all have been executed well. It was a joy to play the DLC. I remembered how much I have enjoyed Vahalla after I revisited the game via the DLC. I'm looking forward to the next set of DLC.

Dude, Where Is My Beer? (DWIMB?) is a throwback to the fantastic genre of point and click adventure games, this is reminiscent of some of the classics from Lucas Arts and Sierra. The game follows the journey of a man looking for a pilsner in a world gone mad of craft beer and snobby hipster nonsense all set in Oslo.

"dude1"

DWIMB? is beautifully crafted in a cartoony hipster art style, the world has a fantastic comic feel as well. The world of Oslo and its inhabitants bring this game to life, characters give the sense this is a living breathing place as you journey through it. The character design has a great hipster vibe with the personality being brought to the fore through dialogue. The only thing lacking is the lack of voice dialogue but this is understandable considering it's a small team building this game. The themes of hipsters, beer and Oslo in terms of level design and gameplay is superb and even the use of fonts adds to themes as well. The superb soundtrack and music bring different scenes and areas to life. I loved the metal bar in particular with the metal music and metal fans in the bar.

It's been a while since I played a point and click adventure, I used to play games like Monkey Island and Sam & Max, this game did evoke memories of both. With any point and click adventure, you will have to set actions and the use of dialogue to understand how to achieve your objective of getting a pilsner. The menu system and short keys make the game easy to pick up and play. Controlling and interacting with the world is smooth and effortless.

"dude2"

The gameplay is complemented by great wit and a fantastic sense of humour, I would have loved to hear the characters being voiced as well but maybe in the future. Each character you interact with has their unique personality and their dialogue brings them to life. Their dialogue and what they say will help you in our ultimate goal.

As you progress through Oslo you will pick up items and clues that will help you along the way, the game has lots of puzzles and problem solving required to progress. The game also pokes fun at the genre point and click adventure which is present throughout.

"dude3"

The game is beautiful from the moment you get off the bus until you search for that elusive pilsner. You meet and speak to a host of wonderfully created characters who give the world a sense of meaning. The elements of the point and click adventure are all there with a great soundtrack to boot. The mixture of puzzles and game design making for a challenging game. The only thing I would like to see in future versions would be some voice acting otherwise I enjoyed playing this stylish and fun game.

Overall: 8/10
;
