Metal Suits is a classic 2D run-and-gun side-scrolling action platformer. The game brilliantly combines these various styles to create a truly enjoyable gaming experience.
As Kevin, a reborn cyborg, you start your revenge mission equipped with a basic gun. Throughout the levels, you’ll gain limited-time power-ups that transform Kevin into a super cyborg. Beyond your initial pistol, you’ll acquire an arsenal including flamethrowers and RPGs. Your weapon choice influences your play style—”claws” require close combat with enemies, while RPGs let you eliminate foes from a distance. Each power-up is clearly marked and optional to collect.
The excellent level design reveals potential paths and collectable locations as you progress through stages. Enemies spawn as you enter new areas, requiring quick thinking and environmental awareness to overcome them. While rarely, some cave sections can be unclear about whether they’re traversable, leading to accidental deaths from going out of bounds. This was the only significant drawback during my playthrough. Otherwise, the intuitive level design guides you through each stage, with some collectables and elements hidden off the main path for more adventurous players.
The gameplay is straightforward and easy to learn, with a concise but effective tutorial.
I loved this fantastic run-and-gun shooter, packed with challenges and non-stop action. You’ll face diverse enemies and impressive bosses trying to halt your progress. The blend of platforming and strategic elements is particularly enjoyable, though all-out combat remains satisfying. The thoughtful level design hides plenty of secrets for explorers, while risk-reward elements influence both gameplay style and completion status. Various power-ups and weapons let you demolish enemies however you prefer—there’s nothing quite like torching a swarm of enemies trying to overwhelm you.
As a huge fan of retro 2D shooter/run-and-gun games, this title perfectly matches my tastes. It’s accessible and action-packed from the start. While I’m not keen on the close-combat weapons, they’re entirely optional. I’m finding it difficult to find negatives it’s an awesome game.
Overall: 8/10

Enjoys more than the odd game, long time gamer, somewhat a technologist and everything else in between.
Also enjoys a good solid game of FIFA online. Currently PS4, XBOX 360 and STEAM.
