Hi James, it’s so great to have you here with us again.
When did you discover Creepshow?
Like a lot of horror fans of my generation, I discovered Creepshow through the movie first. George Romero and Stephen King created something special — a love letter to the horror comics that inspired them. It had everything I loved: monsters, dark humor, twist endings, and that comic book vibe.
Can you tell us about the origins of Creepshow: 13 Tales of Terror?
The project grew out of my love of anthology horror. Whether it’s Creepshow, Tales From the Crypt, The Twilight Zone or classic horror comics from EC, I’ve always been fascinated by short-form stories that can surprise readers in just a few pages. When the opportunity arose to create an anthology set within the world of Creepshow, I wanted to assemble a collection that honored the franchise’s legacy while allowing creators to bring fresh ideas to the table. The result is thirteen unique nightmares that capture the spirit of Creepshow while offering readers something new.

How did you select the creators to be involved in Creepshow: 13 Tales of Terror?
The most important thing was finding creators who genuinely understood horror. I wanted writers and artists who loved the genre and appreciated what makes Creepshow special. And of course they had to be incredible writers and I think most will agree that these are the best of the best: Jonathan Maberry, Simon Bestwick, Gwendolyn Kiste, Dennis Crosby, Tim Waggoner, Lisa Morton, Keith R.A. DeCandido, Thomas E. Sniegoski, Nick Roberts, David Avallone, Nancy A. Collins, and Steve Niles.
In terms of a horror franchise, how do you rate Creepshow?
For me, Creepshow is one of the most important horror franchises there is. It’s right up there with the great anthology properties because it perfectly captures the spirit of classic horror comics. The franchise has endured because it understands that horror can be frightening, funny, shocking, and emotional all at once. Few horror brands have maintained that balance as successfully as Creepshow.
How are you ensuring that Creepshow: 13 Tales of Terror retains Creepshow’s DNA and continues its legacy?
It starts with understanding what Creepshow is at its core. It’s not just about monsters or gore. It’s about morality tales, ironic twists, dark humor, and larger-than-life characters getting exactly what they deserve. Every story in the anthology was developed with those elements in mind.
What can you tell us about Creepshow: 13 Tales of Terror?
Readers can expect thirteen terrifying tales filled with monsters, revenge, supernatural horrors, and unexpected twists. The anthology showcases a talented lineup of writers and artists who each bring something unique to the book. Some stories are creepy, some are shocking, and some are darkly funny, but all of them embrace the spirit of classic horror storytelling. Whether you’ve been a Creepshow fan for decades or you’re discovering it for the first time, there’s something in this collection for you.
