We are now in full swing into this festive season and I am unsure as to when this particular review will be going up on the website - so either way I hope you are all in a jolly mood!<\/span><\/p>\n

Now before I even had the review for the November box up on the site, the December edition of Nihon Box was already on my doorstep. The staff over in the warehouse has been working flat out in order to ship this month's box off a few weeks earlier, so everyone would have it in time for Christmas. So without further ado, let\u2019s get started with the usual speel of how you can sign up for your very own Nihon Box.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nihon Box is a Japanese monthly subscription service that handpicks at least 6 items each month that are almost exclusive to Japan and ships them straight to your door. Their items are a mixture of Otaku Anime related merchandise and figures, as well as traditional Japanese items, from sweets to tableware. All of this is available to subscribe to monthly, just keep reading along to see just how affordable it can be.<\/span><\/p>\n

Like SoKawaii, the more months you pay upfront the cheaper the price for individual boxes will be.<\/span> https:\/\/www.nihonbox.com\/en<\/a><\/p>\n

Monthly is \u20ac29.99 plus shipping costs<\/span><\/p>\n

3 Months is a single payment of \u20ac86.97, making each box \u20ac28.99, plus shipping costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

6 Months is a single payment of \u20ac170.94, making each box \u20ac28.49, plus shipping costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Due to the latest European VAT legislation, the overall cost after shipping has increased slightly. The folks behind Nihon Box have done all they can to make this transition as simple as possible, so they have taken the necessary steps & changes in order to include the VAT directly in the subscription\u2019s price. This change will normally be effective starting from the next renewal of your subscription, with the addition of the VAT in the final price (19% for Germany). And from August of this year, as a small gift of appreciation to their overseas customers they will be including a 1000yen gift card to their YattaJapan.com store. As an idea of how much the charge has gone up, prior to August I was paying \u20ac32.89 a month. The new price I pay now is \u20ac40.45 a month, which is a nice increase but I believe the value is still there within the box. Now once it arrived in Ireland, I have been charged customs through An Post. Totalling just under \u20ac9euro the first month, with this particular box being around the \u20ac10 mark on top of the \u20ac40.45 I pay each month, making this a rather expensive price hike in the end. However this is all due to inflation and the recent customs changes within the EU, whilst Nihon Box is still cramming in as much value into the box as possible from their side.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our first item this month is a Shaman King figure from Banpresto. Seeing as Shaman King has had a remake just this year from Netflix, the merch and figures have begun to appear at a steady pace. So fair play to Nihon Box for including these figures in the final box of the year. With three characters available, including main man Yoh Asakura, his brother Hao and even Yoh\u2019s fianc\u00e9e Anna Kyoyama.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Our next item is from the infamous Dragon Ball franchise, with this Shenron towel. This towel is more of a long, narrow hand towel. Although it does very much look like a cool scarf. It also resembles the color of a christmas tree, so why not include it in the December box! Also who doesn\u2019t want a towel of a mighty dragon?!<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Following in Dragon Balls footsteps, is one of the more recent big hits from Shonen Jump - with Jujutsu Kaisen. This dark fantasy, supernatural adventure follows a young high school student named Yuji Itadori as he joins a secret organization in order to kill a powerful curse that has possessed him. This is a series I have yet to jump into myself, so let me know in the comments below or across our social media what your opinions are on Jujutsu Kaisen. So Nihon Box has included a plush in every box this month, to celebrate the release of the first Jujutsu Kaisen film in cinemas over in Japan. With four character plushies to collect, including Yuji Itadori, Gojo Satoru, Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki. They are a handy size, perfect to put on a shelf, seem to be well stitched together and dressed. I\u2019m sure any JJK fan would be happy to own one of these.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Our next item is pretty damn well special, as it\u2019s a 3D puzzle of Tokyo Tower. Even more amazing and something I did not realize until reading the leaflet, is that when you take it out of the packaging, the building parts are arranged in a way that they spell out Tokyo in Kanji. So in fact this item is actually known as a Kanji Model kit of Tokyo Tower. However I do have to say that although it was simple enough to put together, getting it out of the packaging and trying to remove all the little plastic bits that held it together - was a bit of a nuisance. This would be no issue at all for those that have had experience with model kits like Gundam.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Moving right along, we have the return of Kirby and his Limited Edition Beauty Care range. We have had this same exact range before where we received hand cream, this time it's back with lip cream. The packaging is just adorable and would make a lovely little gift, or even just used for display. The design also celebrates five different prefectures in Japan, including Okinawa, Kyoto, Yokohama, Osaka and Hokkaido. Only one of which is available in every box.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Next up, is a nod towards the new year as we all received a Tiger Dorei Statuette, to symbolize 2022 - The year of the Tiger. Those of you that have enjoyed the Fruits Basket franchise, will be all too familiar with the Chinese Zodiac and their animal spirits. Whereas over here in the West we are more familiar with the astrology zodiac, where the time of year you are born points out your star sign. In Japan, your zodiac animal is determined by what year you are born. With it coming full circle every 12 years to begin again. This particular statuette has a small bell inside, comes with its own little pedestal and traditional looking folding screen for some decorative background art. This is a lovely piece of Japanese culture to own and one day, I would like to own the rest of the zodiac animals in the same design.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are almost at the end of this box, so hold on just a bit longer. Our latest recurring product has been a 1000 Yen gift card from Yatta Japan, which can be used on their website. Yatta Japan is also run by the same folks behind Nihon Box, where you can pre-order figures, buy Japanese snacks and even issues of Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine! Shipping is also a bit pricey for those of us in Ireland, as they only offer express shipping. So let\u2019s get started with the first item from November\u2019s box, with this beautiful \u2018Aki in Japan\u2019 furoshiki. This piece of fabric is traditionally used to wrap up your bento or a gift, which is very eco friendly due to its reusability. Personally I will be using this as a decorative piece, although I haven\u2019t decided how to as of yet. This particular furoshiki was made in collaboration with a professional craftsman in Kyoto, who has been doing this for the past fifty years. The design is based off of an Autumn scene featuring Mount Fuji in the background of a shrine.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Our next item this month is for all you Inuyasha fans out there, with this Sessh\u00f3maru noodle stopper figure. This boy has a bit of weight to him, that keeps him perfectly balanced when sitting on the edge of a shelf or indeed a Cup Ramen. This series of noodle stopper figures always have such unique poses, this one is no different. It\u2019s well crafted, skillfully designed and indeed well painted. It can join my other Inuyasha noodle stopper on the shelf, which was included in September's Nihon Box from 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

We now move onto a slightly more recent anime franchise, with Haikyuu! This series follows a high school volleyball team as they compete in local matches, all the way up to nationals in order to repair their reputation with the assistance of a pair of talented new players. This series has a massive fanbase and Nihon Box has included it in this box with a Hug Chara Collection figure. This series of small plushies, are very cute but also useful. As within the arms will be a strong bull clip, which you can open and close by using the legs. With six characters to collect, every box will receive the main character of Sh\u00f3y\u00f3 Hinata.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

We now move on to yet another Shonen Jump franchise with Hunter x Hunter. This franchise first began back in 1998 but has been on hiatus since 2018, but still carries a strong fan base. Due to this, it has been included with this Figurine Fuchipito collection from Re-Ment. With six characters to collect, these small detailed figures each have their unique pose and sit on top of a wooden box. Like the Noodle Stopper series, they are also designed to sit on the edge of shelves, die to how well they are balanced.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Our snack item for this month is the Kurobou Meimon. A traditional sweet and specialty of the city of Kurume, from the Fukuoka prefecture. Made from brown sugar, it carries its own unique taste that is unlike anything I have tried here in Ireland. It may not be for everyone's palette, as I didn\u2019t find myself going back very quickly to finish the second one in the package.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

So let\u2019s begin with the item on the left, which is a loyalty item bonus that you receive several times during the year when you have a continuous subscription. It is always a delight to see what might be included for free every quarter. This time, it was a small keychain plush from the FairyTail and Mameshiba collab, but I can not seem to find when this is from so it may be an old release. It\u2019s an interesting item no doubt and a collaboration I never would have put together, but it kind of works. It\u2019s cute, right?!<\/span><\/p>\n

On the right, is our new regular to every Nihon Box - a 1000 Yen gift card for their side company \u2018Yatta Japan\u2019. This time, the gift card is valid until next Summer. However at the moment, it doesn't appear to be a good time ordering from their website as the delivery option pricing is through the roof! At least for Ireland it is, no way I want to pay over \u20ac40 in shipping for items that barely come to \u20ac20. Fingers crossed they manage to sort this out in the new year, as I would prefer some economy shipping at least.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our last anime related item of the box is the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba item pictured above. Which is known as an Eco Kairo in Japan, otherwise known as a reusable pocket hand warmer. I have not seen these items in years, not since I was in school. There is a gel inside that heats up as soon as a metal tab inside is broken, it just causes a chain reaction. In order to reuse it again, you just place it inside a kitchen cloth and then in boiling water. Within five minutes it will have returned to its original state, ready to be used again. Perfect for the current cold season. This is available in 10 character designs, all with their own unique backgrounds. Also in time for the latest season of Demon Slayer, which has just started airing over on Funimation And Crunchyroll.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

And now onto our final item this month, with these Ukiyo-e coasters. This is a set of four coasters, traditionally made with washi paper. They feature images from four of the most famous Ukiyo-e paintings, including Kabuki (by Kunisada Utagawa), Meisho Hakkei (by Toyokuni Utagawa), Aka Fuji (by Hokusai Katsushika) and Two Women ( by Kitagawa Utamaro). All made by a company that has been specializing in washi paper for over 90 years. It is a shame however that neither the name of the company or any links to their work is never listed in the brochure. Hopefully they can add this information for future boxes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although he has some decent grades, he is disliked by fellow students for his otaku interests. Although he is a recluse, his only friend in the World is his classmate Y\u00fato It\u00f3 who is a bit of an oddball himself. These two boys have resigned themselves to believing they could never get a 3-D girlfriend and have instead dedicated themselves to anime. However, by pure chance one day, Tsutsui is late to class and is sentenced to pool cleaning duty. He is not alone however, as he is paired up with the beautiful but the schools most talked about girl - Iroha Igarashi. Through just this single interaction, their lives become intertwined forever as the love story behind Real Girl<\/em> begins.<\/span>\n\nOkay okay, I wasn\u2019t expecting much out of this show at the beginning but wow! It hit me right in the feels in the last couple of episodes! This high school romance had its ups and downs, its misunderstandings and surprises, it\u2019s far from your typical rom-com anime series. This show had deapt, so I can only imagine how good the source material was in the manga. Tsutsui is your classic teenage otaku, who prefers his own company and is incredibly awkward when it comes to interacting with \u2018real people\u2019. He does however have a best friend in It\u00f3, who has his own unique interests. It\u2019s no wonder these two had become social outcasts in high schools. However high school kids can be incredibly harsh, as all these characters are in and around 18 years old. It\u2019s not only the \u2018nerds\u2019 being bullied, but even the gorgeous Iroha who has been labelled as the \u2018school slut\u2019. The pairing is almost unimaginable, but it really works. Both Tsutsui and Iroha take their new found relationship very seriously and it changes them both for the better.<\/span>\n\nHowever there is always a catch, Iroha announces to Tsutsui that she only has another six months in this school before she transfers. They make the most of their time together, Tsutsui has difficulty expressing and understanding emotions so there are the odd misunderstandings. Iroha does all she can to improve Tsutsui\u2019s impression of himself and build his self confidence, which has a number of setbacks due to him not entirely believing her words at times. And like all great shows, there is just another massive plot twist near the end of the show. One that was utterly heartbreaking, yet with all that happens, the character development, actions, emotions - it was all utterly believable. I have to admit though, I did shead the odd tear or two during the finale episode!<\/span>\n\n\u2018Real Girl\u2019 (Riaru G\u00e1ru) first began as a sh\u00f3jo manga series by mangaka Mao Nanami back in 2011. Having completed with a total of 12 volumes in 2016, it has been published in English by Kodansha comics. However I have only been able to find the first six volumes in print, the entire series however is available to buy digitally.<\/span>\n\nIt wasn\u2019t until the manga series had ended for quite some time, was this 24 episode anime adaption released in 2018 from studio - Hoods Entertainment. This animation studio is still rather new having founded in 2009, but have since done a number of animes including Mysterious Girlfriend X and Drifters, under the name Hoods Drifters Studio. If that wasn\u2019t enough, there was also a live action film adaption released in 2018 under the name \u201c3D Kanojo Riaru G\u0101ru\u201d<\/span>\n\nBonus Features Include:<\/span>\n

It was a seriously good show, great character development, played out like a more serious teen drama rather than a romantic comedy. Would highly suggest this anime for fans of \u2018Golden Time\u2019 and \u2018Toradora\u2019.   Hello everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Today we are going to do a recap of what was inside the very last SoKawaii box of 2021! The theme they ran with this month was \u2018Kawaii Under The Christmas Tree\u2019. Which certainly lived up to its name for sure. So let\u2019s begin with the usual info on just who exactly SoKawaii is.<\/span><\/p>\n

  For those of you that don\u2019t know \u2013 So Kawaii is a company based in Japan, home of practically everything kawaii (the Japanese word for cute). They create monthly subscription boxes, jam packed with 100% licensed products from brands such as Hello Kitty, Pok\u00e9mon, Sanrio, Studio Ghibli and more.   Our first item straight out of the box is this holiday themed Summikko Gurashi plate. Made from bamboo fiber, making it more sustainable than plastic. This plate is a lovely addition to all your meals and snacks this holiday season, as it features all of the Summikko Gurashi characters in their festive outfits. This is also a SoKawaii exclusive, so you can\u2019t even buy this item in the shops. Aren\u2019t we lucky!<\/span><\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

  Next up is this pair of Pok\u00e9mon hair scrunchies, aka go-go\u2019s for all you fellow Irish folks. This item is available in 6 designs, including Pikachu and Jigglypuff. The pack will include two scrunchies of the same Pok\u00e9mon, with the elastic matching the color of the character you receive. The main design will feature the head of the Pok\u00e9mon enclosed in plastic with a number of small sparkly stars inside. It\u2019s very cute looking, but I don't see myself using these very often.<\/span><\/p>\n

  Following that we have a small Keychain Photo holder from Disney. This item is available in seven character designs, a perfect size if you wish to carry a small sentimental picture on your keys. This item looks like it came from a gachapon series, worth just a few euros but will only grow in value when you add a cherished photo to it.<\/span><\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

  Our next item comes straight from Sanrio, with this My Melody soap case. There is just something about having a bar of soap in the bathroom, that is just more comforting to see than just a bottle of hand wash. This case is pretty well thought out, with the top being in the shape of My Melody's head and the bottom dish having built in slits that are there to allow the water to run out when you put the soap back. This item is sure to add just another touch of kawaii to your bathroom.<\/span><\/p>\n

  Our second last item is one that was previously announced prior to the boxes being shipped out. In celebration of season 4 after hitting Netflix, we have a Christmas themed Retsuko plush from the hit show - Aggretsuko! This item was available in every single box and was an exclusive plushie for SoKawaii. In which we got a medium sized Retsuko plush, in a Santa inspired outfit. This plush is sure to make a reappearance every year when the festive season returns!<\/span><\/p>\n

  And we are now onto our final item of 2021, with this Rilakkuma \u2018Pajama Party\u2019 Home Mat. Yes people you heard that right, I have received yet another mat in a subscription box! I think that now makes four in total, so fingers crossed that\u2019s the end of it for a long time. However this is quite an adorable mat, featuring our trio of San-X characters - Rilakkuma, Korilakkuma and Kiiroitori. With slip mat bobbles on the bottom, so you don\u2019t slip all over the place. This is certainly a great addition to a little girls room, or in my case - right in front of my wardrobe.<\/span><\/p>\n

  We are now in full swing into this festive season and I am unsure as to when this particular review will be going up on the website - so either way I hope you are all in a jolly mood!<\/span><\/p>\n

  Now before I even had the review for the November box up on the site, the December edition of Nihon Box was already on my doorstep. The staff over in the warehouse has been working flat out in order to ship this month's box off a few weeks earlier, so everyone would have it in time for Christmas. So without further ado, let\u2019s get started with the usual speel of how you can sign up for your very own Nihon Box.<\/span><\/p>\n

  Nihon Box is a Japanese monthly subscription service that handpicks at least 6 items each month that are almost exclusive to Japan and ships them straight to your door. Their items are a mixture of Otaku Anime related merchandise and figures, as well as traditional Japanese items, from sweets to tableware. All of this is available to subscribe to monthly, just keep reading along to see just how affordable it can be.<\/span><\/p>\n

  Due to the latest European VAT legislation, the overall cost after shipping has increased slightly. The folks behind Nihon Box have done all they can to make this transition as simple as possible, so they have taken the necessary steps & changes in order to include the VAT directly in the subscription\u2019s price. This change will normally be effective starting from the next renewal of your subscription, with the addition of the VAT in the final price (19% for Germany). And from August of this year, as a small gift of appreciation to their overseas customers they will be including a 1000yen gift card to their YattaJapan.com store. As an idea of how much the charge has gone up, prior to August I was paying \u20ac32.89 a month. The new price I pay now is \u20ac40.45 a month, which is a nice increase but I believe the value is still there within the box. Now once it arrived in Ireland, I have been charged customs through An Post. Totalling just under \u20ac9euro the first month, with this particular box being around the \u20ac10 mark on top of the \u20ac40.45 I pay each month, making this a rather expensive price hike in the end. However this is all due to inflation and the recent customs changes within the EU, whilst Nihon Box is still cramming in as much value into the box as possible from their side.<\/span><\/p>\n

  Our first item this month is a Shaman King figure from Banpresto. Seeing as Shaman King has had a remake just this year from Netflix, the merch and figures have begun to appear at a steady pace. So fair play to Nihon Box for including these figures in the final box of the year. With three characters available, including main man Yoh Asakura, his brother Hao and even Yoh\u2019s fianc\u00e9e Anna Kyoyama.<\/span><\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

  Our next item is from the infamous Dragon Ball franchise, with this Shenron towel. This towel is more of a long, narrow hand towel. Although it does very much look like a cool scarf. It also resembles the color of a christmas tree, so why not include it in the December box! Also who doesn\u2019t want a towel of a mighty dragon?!<\/span><\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

  Following in Dragon Balls footsteps, is one of the more recent big hits from Shonen Jump - with Jujutsu Kaisen. This dark fantasy, supernatural adventure follows a young high school student named Yuji Itadori as he joins a secret organization in order to kill a powerful curse that has possessed him. This is a series I have yet to jump into myself, so let me know in the comments below or across our social media what your opinions are on Jujutsu Kaisen. So Nihon Box has included a plush in every box this month, to celebrate the release of the first Jujutsu Kaisen film in cinemas over in Japan. With four character plushies to collect, including Yuji Itadori, Gojo Satoru, Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki. They are a handy size, perfect to put on a shelf, seem to be well stitched together and dressed. I\u2019m sure any JJK fan would be happy to own one of these.<\/span><\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

  Our next item is pretty damn well special, as it\u2019s a 3D puzzle of Tokyo Tower. Even more amazing and something I did not realize until reading the leaflet, is that when you take it out of the packaging, the building parts are arranged in a way that they spell out Tokyo in Kanji. So in fact this item is actually known as a Kanji Model kit of Tokyo Tower. However I do have to say that although it was simple enough to put together, getting it out of the packaging and trying to remove all the little plastic bits that held it together - was a bit of a nuisance. This would be no issue at all for those that have had experience with model kits like Gundam.<\/span><\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

  Moving right along, we have the return of Kirby and his Limited Edition Beauty Care range. We have had this same exact range before where we received hand cream, this time it's back with lip cream. The packaging is just adorable and would make a lovely little gift, or even just used for display. The design also celebrates five different prefectures in Japan, including Okinawa, Kyoto, Yokohama, Osaka and Hokkaido. Only one of which is available in every box.<\/span><\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

  Next up, is a nod towards the new year as we all received a Tiger Dorei Statuette, to symbolize 2022 - The year of the Tiger. Those of you that have enjoyed the Fruits Basket franchise, will be all too familiar with the Chinese Zodiac and their animal spirits. Whereas over here in the West we are more familiar with the astrology zodiac, where the time of year you are born points out your star sign. In Japan, your zodiac animal is determined by what year you are born. With it coming full circle every 12 years to begin again. This particular statuette has a small bell inside, comes with its own little pedestal and traditional looking folding screen for some decorative background art. This is a lovely piece of Japanese culture to own and one day, I would like to own the rest of the zodiac animals in the same design.<\/span><\/p>\n

  We are almost at the end of this box, so hold on just a bit longer. Our latest recurring product has been a 1000 Yen gift card from Yatta Japan, which can be used on their website.   So let\u2019s get started with the first item from November\u2019s box, with this beautiful \u2018Aki in Japan\u2019 furoshiki. This piece of fabric is traditionally used to wrap up your bento or a gift, which is very eco friendly due to its reusability. Personally I will be using this as a decorative piece, although I haven\u2019t decided how to as of yet. This particular furoshiki was made in collaboration with a professional craftsman in Kyoto, who has been doing this for the past fifty years. The design is based off of an Autumn scene featuring Mount Fuji in the background of a shrine.<\/span><\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

  Our next item this month is for all you Inuyasha fans out there, with this Sessh\u00f3maru noodle stopper figure. This boy has a bit of weight to him, that keeps him perfectly balanced when sitting on the edge of a shelf or indeed a Cup Ramen. This series of noodle stopper figures always have such unique poses, this one is no different. It\u2019s well crafted, skillfully designed and indeed well painted. It can join my other Inuyasha noodle stopper on the shelf, which was included in September's Nihon Box from 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

  We now move onto a slightly more recent anime franchise, with Haikyuu! This series follows a high school volleyball team as they compete in local matches, all the way up to nationals in order to repair their reputation with the assistance of a pair of talented new players. This series has a massive fanbase and Nihon Box has included it in this box with a Hug Chara Collection figure. This series of small plushies, are very cute but also useful. As within the arms will be a strong bull clip, which you can open and close by using the legs. With six characters to collect, every box will receive the main character of Sh\u00f3y\u00f3 Hinata.<\/span><\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

  We now move on to yet another Shonen Jump franchise with Hunter x Hunter. This franchise first began back in 1998 but has been on hiatus since 2018, but still carries a strong fan base. Due to this, it has been included with this Figurine Fuchipito collection from Re-Ment. With six characters to collect, these small detailed figures each have their unique pose and sit on top of a wooden box. Like the Noodle Stopper series, they are also designed to sit on the edge of shelves, die to how well they are balanced.<\/span><\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

  Our snack item for this month is the Kurobou Meimon. A traditional sweet and specialty of the city of Kurume, from the Fukuoka prefecture. Made from brown sugar, it carries its own unique taste that is unlike anything I have tried here in Ireland. It may not be for everyone's palette, as I didn\u2019t find myself going back very quickly to finish the second one in the package.<\/span><\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

  So let\u2019s begin with the item on the left, which is a loyalty item bonus that you receive several times during the year when you have a continuous subscription. It is always a delight to see what might be included for free every quarter. This time, it was a small keychain plush from the FairyTail and Mameshiba collab, but I can not seem to find when this is from so it may be an old release. It\u2019s an interesting item no doubt and a collaboration I never would have put together, but it kind of works. It\u2019s cute, right?!<\/span><\/p>\n

  On the right, is our new regular to every Nihon Box - a 1000 Yen gift card for their side company \u2018Yatta Japan\u2019. This time, the gift card is valid until next Summer. However at the moment, it doesn't appear to be a good time ordering from their website as the delivery option pricing is through the roof! At least for Ireland it is, no way I want to pay over \u20ac40 in shipping for items that barely come to \u20ac20. Fingers crossed they manage to sort this out in the new year, as I would prefer some economy shipping at least.<\/span><\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

  Our last anime related item of the box is the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba item pictured above. Which is known as an Eco Kairo in Japan, otherwise known as a reusable pocket hand warmer. I have not seen these items in years, not since I was in school. There is a gel inside that heats up as soon as a metal tab inside is broken, it just causes a chain reaction. In order to reuse it again, you just place it inside a kitchen cloth and then in boiling water. Within five minutes it will have returned to its original state, ready to be used again. Perfect for the current cold season. This is available in 10 character designs, all with their own unique backgrounds. Also in time for the latest season of Demon Slayer, which has just started airing over on Funimation And Crunchyroll.<\/span><\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

  And now onto our final item this month, with these Ukiyo-e coasters. This is a set of four coasters, traditionally made with washi paper. They feature images from four of the most famous Ukiyo-e paintings, including Kabuki (by Kunisada Utagawa), Meisho Hakkei (by Toyokuni Utagawa), Aka Fuji (by Hokusai Katsushika) and Two Women ( by Kitagawa Utamaro). All made by a company that has been specializing in washi paper for over 90 years. It is a shame however that neither the name of the company or any links to their work is never listed in the brochure. Hopefully they can add this information for future boxes.<\/span><\/p>\n

He is not alone however, as he is paired up with the beautiful but the schools most talked about girl - Iroha Igarashi. Through just this single interaction, their lives become intertwined forever as the love story behind Real Girl<\/em> begins.<\/span>\n\nOkay okay, I wasn\u2019t expecting much out of this show at the beginning but wow! It hit me right in the feels in the last couple of episodes! This high school romance had its ups and downs, its misunderstandings and surprises, it\u2019s far from your typical rom-com anime series. This show had deapt, so I can only imagine how good the source material was in the manga. Tsutsui is your classic teenage otaku, who prefers his own company and is incredibly awkward when it comes to interacting with \u2018real people\u2019. He does however have a best friend in It\u00f3, who has his own unique interests. It\u2019s no wonder these two had become social outcasts in high schools. However high school kids can be incredibly harsh, as all these characters are in and around 18 years old. It\u2019s not only the \u2018nerds\u2019 being bullied, but even the gorgeous Iroha who has been labelled as the \u2018school slut\u2019. The pairing is almost unimaginable, but it really works. Both Tsutsui and Iroha take their new found relationship very seriously and it changes them both for the better.<\/span>\n\nHowever there is always a catch, Iroha announces to Tsutsui that she only has another six months in this school before she transfers. They make the most of their time together, Tsutsui has difficulty expressing and understanding emotions so there are the odd misunderstandings. Iroha does all she can to improve Tsutsui\u2019s impression of himself and build his self confidence, which has a number of setbacks due to him not entirely believing her words at times. And like all great shows, there is just another massive plot twist near the end of the show. One that was utterly heartbreaking, yet with all that happens, the character development, actions, emotions - it was all utterly believable. I have to admit though, I did shead the odd tear or two during the finale episode!<\/span>\n\n\u2018Real Girl\u2019 (Riaru G\u00e1ru) first began as a sh\u00f3jo manga series by mangaka Mao Nanami back in 2011. Having completed with a total of 12 volumes in 2016, it has been published in English by Kodansha comics. However I have only been able to find the first six volumes in print, the entire series however is available to buy digitally.<\/span>\n\nIt wasn\u2019t until the manga series had ended for quite some time, was this 24 episode anime adaption released in 2018 from studio - Hoods Entertainment. This animation studio is still rather new having founded in 2009, but have since done a number of animes including Mysterious Girlfriend X and Drifters, under the name Hoods Drifters Studio. If that wasn\u2019t enough, there was also a live action film adaption released in 2018 under the name \u201c3D Kanojo Riaru G\u0101ru\u201d<\/span>\n\nBonus Features Include:<\/span>\n

    Hello everyone and welcome back to a new Nihon Box review. We are now well underway into 2022, so let\u2019s begin this review with that all important information on just who Nihon Box is!<\/span><\/p>\n

    Nihon Box is a Japanese monthly subscription service that handpicks at least 6 items each month that are almost exclusive to Japan and ships them straight to your door. Their items are a mixture of Otaku Anime related merchandise and figures, as well as traditional Japanese items, from sweets to tableware. All of this is available to subscribe to monthly, just keep reading along to see just how affordable it can be.<\/span><\/p>\n

    There are savings to be had with the monthly subscriptions, as the more months you pay upfront the cheaper the price for individual boxes will be.<\/span> https:\/\/www.nihonbox.com\/en<\/a><\/p>\n

    Monthly is \u20ac29.99 plus shipping costs<\/span><\/p>\n

    3 Months is a single payment of \u20ac86.97, making each box \u20ac28.99, plus shipping costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

    6 Months is a single payment of \u20ac170.94, making each box \u20ac28.49, plus shipping costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Due to the latest European VAT legislation that came about last year, the overall cost after shipping has increased slightly. The folks behind Nihon Box have done all they can to make this transition as simple as possible, so they have taken the necessary steps & changes in order to include the VAT directly in the subscription\u2019s price. This change will normally be effective starting from the next renewal of your subscription, with the addition of the VAT in the final price (19% for Germany). And from August last year, as a small gift of appreciation to their overseas customers they will be including a 1000yen gift card to their YattaJapan.com store. As an idea of how much the charge has gone up, prior to last August I was paying \u20ac32.89 a month. The new price I pay now is \u20ac40.45 a month, which is a nice increase but I believe the value is still there within the box. Now once it arrived in Ireland, I have been charged customs through An Post. Totalling just under \u20ac9euro the first month, with this particular box being around the \u20ac10 mark on top of the \u20ac40.45 I pay each month, making this a rather expensive price hike in the end. However this is all due to inflation and the recent customs changes within the EU, whilst Nihon Box is still cramming in as much value into the box as possible from their side.<\/span><\/p>\n

    So let\u2019s get underway with seeing just what was included in this particular Nihon Box. I will also be doing something a bit different with these reviews, as I will try to find the same products online based on UK websites and see if the value is indeed there with Nihon Box. So first up we have the \u2018Pok\u00e9mon Kids Pikachu Pika Pika\u2019 figure. This is a collection of thumb sized Pikachu figures that were released last February in celebration of Pok\u00e9mons 25th anniversary. With 12 to collect, each Nihon Box received one at random.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The second item out of the box is this Coreful figure from The Quintessential Quintuplets, in celebration of the upcoming movie that is hitting the big screen in Japan this Summer. This figure range has five to collect, with each box receiving one of the sisters. All appear to be in their school uniforms, and I must admit they would make a lovely display if you were able to get all five together. The poses they all have, seem to portray each of their personalities, however this is still a series I have yet to delve into. These figures are also made by Taito and you would be more inclined to see them as arcade prizes in Japan, however they are still pretty decent quality.<\/span><\/p>\n

    You can find this particular figure going for \u00a319.99 over on Dekai Anime, which is still up for January pre-order. Meaning many of us have just gotten this figure weeks before its general release in the U.K<\/span><\/p>\n

    Our third item comes straight from My Hero Academia, with their own Fuwakororin. This is a series of small round plush keychains, with six characters to collect. The characters appear all short and deformed, making it a rather interesting character appearance for this range. The characters included in this series include Deku, Bakugo, All Might, Shoto, Ochako and Tsuyu. I wasn\u2019t able to find this particular series on any known anime merch websites that I am aware of, but would price it around the \u00a310 to \u00a312 mark.<\/span><\/p>\n

    However I did find it on ebay for an extortionate amount! For Bakugo in particular, which was the one I received, the seller was asking for \u20ac26.89 and another \u20ac26.89 for postage! For the combined cost alone of this one small item you could just order your own Nihon Box and still have change left over!<\/span><\/p>\n

    Our fourth item is this rather stylish Haikyu shirt, featuring Hinata and Kageyama. Now this really is a treat as it has been some time since we have had a tshirt included in the box, not forgetting also getting a figure as well! This particular shirt is black in color, featuring our two main protagonists Hinata and Kageyama with Haikyu!! written lengthways down the center. Now I can not find this particular shirt online, however I can not see it being any way under \u00a320 to buy. It seems to be of fine quality and well printed, looking forward to trying this one on.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Our fifth item is perfect for a quick snack, with this entire packet of Okoshi. A traditional puffed rice snack in Japan, with three different flavors featuring in this packet - including shiso plum, matcha and peanuts. Also this particular product was made in Kyoto, by a company that has been producing them since 1890. However once again I was unable to find these anyway online for sale, but would price it around the \u00a34 to \u00a35 mark.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Our sixth item is this authentic Daruma rice bowl, which is incredibly detailed as you can see from the images above. The inside of the bowl features a very ghibli esque Daruma, with kanji painted inside, which I believe translates to:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u2018Fall seven times, stand up eight.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

    Which is a sentence commonly associated with Daruma\u2019s, due to their designs and being a traditional symbol of the New Year. The outside of the bowl also has the same Daruma design and sentence, but in color. It really is a rather delightful edition to the ever growing collection and in fact you can also find it on Amazon for \u00a315.<\/span><\/p>\n

The voucher can be used at check out, on all items except pre-orders. So watch out for that folks, also you can only use one gift card per transaction. Shipping is also a bit pricey for those of us in Ireland, as they only offer express shipping at the moment. Also don\u2019t forget that you will have to pay Customs separately for anything from outside the EU through An Post when it arrives in the country. So it all adds up unfortunately.<\/span><\/p>\n

    So there we have it folks, that is everything from our first box of 2022. So at the end of the day this box is \u20ac40.45, throw on another \u20ac10 to cover customs, for a grand total of \u20ac50.45.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Hello everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Today we are going to do a recap of what was inside the very last SoKawaii box of 2021! The theme they ran with this month was \u2018Kawaii Under The Christmas Tree\u2019. Which certainly lived up to its name for sure. So let\u2019s begin with the usual info on just who exactly SoKawaii is.<\/span><\/p>\n

    For those of you that don\u2019t know \u2013 So Kawaii is a company based in Japan, home of practically everything kawaii (the Japanese word for cute). They create monthly subscription boxes, jam packed with 100% licensed products from brands such as Hello Kitty, Pok\u00e9mon, Sanrio, Studio Ghibli and more. The items range from plushies to Gachapon, little figures, stationary, lifestyle, kitchenware and more. The staff at So Kawaii handpicks 5 to 7 cute & useful items exclusive to Japan, packs them up in a very decorative box and sends it straight to your doorstep each month. You can also check out their Instagram for even more info and insights into what is currently trending in Japanese arcades and stores. As well as sneak peeks into what they could be including in next month\u2019s box.     Our first item straight out of the box is this holiday themed Summikko Gurashi plate. Made from bamboo fiber, making it more sustainable than plastic. This plate is a lovely addition to all your meals and snacks this holiday season, as it features all of the Summikko Gurashi characters in their festive outfits. This is also a SoKawaii exclusive, so you can\u2019t even buy this item in the shops. Aren\u2019t we lucky!<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    Next up is this pair of Pok\u00e9mon hair scrunchies, aka go-go\u2019s for all you fellow Irish folks. This item is available in 6 designs, including Pikachu and Jigglypuff. The pack will include two scrunchies of the same Pok\u00e9mon, with the elastic matching the color of the character you receive. The main design will feature the head of the Pok\u00e9mon enclosed in plastic with a number of small sparkly stars inside. It\u2019s very cute looking, but I don't see myself using these very often.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Following that we have a small Keychain Photo holder from Disney. This item is available in seven character designs, a perfect size if you wish to carry a small sentimental picture on your keys. This item looks like it came from a gachapon series, worth just a few euros but will only grow in value when you add a cherished photo to it.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Our next item comes straight from Sanrio, with this My Melody soap case. There is just something about having a bar of soap in the bathroom, that is just more comforting to see than just a bottle of hand wash. This case is pretty well thought out, with the top being in the shape of My Melody's head and the bottom dish having built in slits that are there to allow the water to run out when you put the soap back. This item is sure to add just another touch of kawaii to your bathroom.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Our second last item is one that was previously announced prior to the boxes being shipped out. In celebration of season 4 after hitting Netflix, we have a Christmas themed Retsuko plush from the hit show - Aggretsuko! This item was available in every single box and was an exclusive plushie for SoKawaii. In which we got a medium sized Retsuko plush, in a Santa inspired outfit. This plush is sure to make a reappearance every year when the festive season returns!<\/span><\/p>\n

    And we are now onto our final item of 2021, with this Rilakkuma \u2018Pajama Party\u2019 Home Mat. Yes people you heard that right, I have received yet another mat in a subscription box! I think that now makes four in total, so fingers crossed that\u2019s the end of it for a long time. However this is quite an adorable mat, featuring our trio of San-X characters - Rilakkuma, Korilakkuma and Kiiroitori. With slip mat bobbles on the bottom, so you don\u2019t slip all over the place. This is certainly a great addition to a little girls room, or in my case - right in front of my wardrobe.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Our first item this month is a Shaman King figure from Banpresto. Seeing as Shaman King has had a remake just this year from Netflix, the merch and figures have begun to appear at a steady pace. So fair play to Nihon Box for including these figures in the final box of the year. With three characters available, including main man Yoh Asakura, his brother Hao and even Yoh\u2019s fianc\u00e9e Anna Kyoyama.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Our next item is from the infamous Dragon Ball franchise, with this Shenron towel. This towel is more of a long, narrow hand towel. Although it does very much look like a cool scarf. It also resembles the color of a christmas tree, so why not include it in the December box! Also who doesn\u2019t want a towel of a mighty dragon?!<\/span><\/p>\n

    Following in Dragon Balls footsteps, is one of the more recent big hits from Shonen Jump - with Jujutsu Kaisen. This dark fantasy, supernatural adventure follows a young high school student named Yuji Itadori as he joins a secret organization in order to kill a powerful curse that has possessed him. This is a series I have yet to jump into myself, so let me know in the comments below or across our social media what your opinions are on Jujutsu Kaisen. So Nihon Box has included a plush in every box this month, to celebrate the release of the first Jujutsu Kaisen film in cinemas over in Japan. With four character plushies to collect, including Yuji Itadori, Gojo Satoru, Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki. They are a handy size, perfect to put on a shelf, seem to be well stitched together and dressed. I\u2019m sure any JJK fan would be happy to own one of these.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Our next item is pretty damn well special, as it\u2019s a 3D puzzle of Tokyo Tower. Even more amazing and something I did not realize until reading the leaflet, is that when you take it out of the packaging, the building parts are arranged in a way that they spell out Tokyo in Kanji. So in fact this item is actually known as a Kanji Model kit of Tokyo Tower. However I do have to say that although it was simple enough to put together, getting it out of the packaging and trying to remove all the little plastic bits that held it together - was a bit of a nuisance. This would be no issue at all for those that have had experience with model kits like Gundam.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Moving right along, we have the return of Kirby and his Limited Edition Beauty Care range. We have had this same exact range before where we received hand cream, this time it's back with lip cream. The packaging is just adorable and would make a lovely little gift, or even just used for display. The design also celebrates five different prefectures in Japan, including Okinawa, Kyoto, Yokohama, Osaka and Hokkaido. Only one of which is available in every box.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Next up, is a nod towards the new year as we all received a Tiger Dorei Statuette, to symbolize 2022 - The year of the Tiger. Those of you that have enjoyed the Fruits Basket franchise, will be all too familiar with the Chinese Zodiac and their animal spirits. Whereas over here in the West we are more familiar with the astrology zodiac, where the time of year you are born points out your star sign. In Japan, your zodiac animal is determined by what year you are born. With it coming full circle every 12 years to begin again. This particular statuette has a small bell inside, comes with its own little pedestal and traditional looking folding screen for some decorative background art. This is a lovely piece of Japanese culture to own and one day, I would like to own the rest of the zodiac animals in the same design.<\/span><\/p>\n

    We are almost at the end of this box, so hold on just a bit longer. Our latest recurring product has been a 1000 Yen gift card from Yatta Japan, which can be used on their website.     Hello everyone and welcome back to another Nihon Box review, where today I take a look at what was included in November's box. So sit back and enjoy this Autumn season themed box. But first, a quick word about Nihon Box. The Anime and Japanese culture subscription box, with details on how you can sign up for your very own subscription.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Nihon Box is a Japanese monthly subscription service that handpicks at least 6 items each month that are almost exclusive to Japan and ships them straight to your door. Their items are a mixture of Otaku Anime related merchandise and figures, as well as traditional Japanese items, from sweets to tableware. All of this is available to subscribe to monthly, just keep reading along to see just how affordable it can be.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Monthly is \u20ac29.99 plus shipping costs<\/span><\/p>\n

    3 Months is a single payment of \u20ac86.97, making each box \u20ac28.99, plus shipping costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Due to the latest European VAT legislation, the overall cost after shipping has increased slightly. The folks behind Nihon Box have done all they can to make this transition as simple as possible, so they have taken the necessary steps & changes in order to include the VAT directly in the subscription\u2019s price. This change will normally be effective starting from the next renewal of your subscription, with the addition of the VAT in the final price (19% for Germany). And from August of this year, as a small gift of appreciation to their overseas customers they will be including a 1000yen gift card to their YattaJapan.com store. As an idea of how much the charge has gone up, prior to August I was paying \u20ac32.89 a month. The new price I pay now is \u20ac40.45 a month, which is a nice increase but I believe the value is still there within the box. Now once it arrived in Ireland, I have been charged customs through An Post. Totalling just under \u20ac9euro the first month, with this particular box being around the \u20ac10 mark on top of the \u20ac40.45 I pay each month, making this a rather expensive price hike in the end. However this is all due to inflation and the recent customs changes within the EU, whilst Nihon Box is still cramming in as much value into the box as possible from their side.<\/span><\/p>\n

    So let\u2019s get started with the first item from November\u2019s box, with this beautiful \u2018Aki in Japan\u2019 furoshiki. This piece of fabric is traditionally used to wrap up your bento or a gift, which is very eco friendly due to its reusability. Personally I will be using this as a decorative piece, although I haven\u2019t decided how to as of yet. This particular furoshiki was made in collaboration with a professional craftsman in Kyoto, who has been doing this for the past fifty years. The design is based off of an Autumn scene featuring Mount Fuji in the background of a shrine.<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    Our next item this month is for all you Inuyasha fans out there, with this Sessh\u00f3maru noodle stopper figure. This boy has a bit of weight to him, that keeps him perfectly balanced when sitting on the edge of a shelf or indeed a Cup Ramen. This series of noodle stopper figures always have such unique poses, this one is no different. It\u2019s well crafted, skillfully designed and indeed well painted. It can join my other Inuyasha noodle stopper on the shelf, which was included in September's Nihon Box from 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

    We now move onto a slightly more recent anime franchise, with Haikyuu! This series follows a high school volleyball team as they compete in local matches, all the way up to nationals in order to repair their reputation with the assistance of a pair of talented new players. This series has a massive fanbase and Nihon Box has included it in this box with a Hug Chara Collection figure. This series of small plushies, are very cute but also useful. As within the arms will be a strong bull clip, which you can open and close by using the legs. With six characters to collect, every box will receive the main character of Sh\u00f3y\u00f3 Hinata.<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    We now move on to yet another Shonen Jump franchise with Hunter x Hunter. This franchise first began back in 1998 but has been on hiatus since 2018, but still carries a strong fan base. Due to this, it has been included with this Figurine Fuchipito collection from Re-Ment. With six characters to collect, these small detailed figures each have their unique pose and sit on top of a wooden box. Like the Noodle Stopper series, they are also designed to sit on the edge of shelves, die to how well they are balanced.<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    Our snack item for this month is the Kurobou Meimon. A traditional sweet and specialty of the city of Kurume, from the Fukuoka prefecture. Made from brown sugar, it carries its own unique taste that is unlike anything I have tried here in Ireland. It may not be for everyone's palette, as I didn\u2019t find myself going back very quickly to finish the second one in the package.<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    So let\u2019s begin with the item on the left, which is a loyalty item bonus that you receive several times during the year when you have a continuous subscription. It is always a delight to see what might be included for free every quarter. This time, it was a small keychain plush from the FairyTail and Mameshiba collab, but I can not seem to find when this is from so it may be an old release. It\u2019s an interesting item no doubt and a collaboration I never would have put together, but it kind of works. It\u2019s cute, right?!<\/span><\/p>\n

    On the right, is our new regular to every Nihon Box - a 1000 Yen gift card for their side company \u2018Yatta Japan\u2019. This time, the gift card is valid until next Summer. However at the moment, it doesn't appear to be a good time ordering from their website as the delivery option pricing is through the roof! At least for Ireland it is, no way I want to pay over \u20ac40 in shipping for items that barely come to \u20ac20. Fingers crossed they manage to sort this out in the new year, as I would prefer some economy shipping at least.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Our last anime related item of the box is the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba item pictured above. Which is known as an Eco Kairo in Japan, otherwise known as a reusable pocket hand warmer. I have not seen these items in years, not since I was in school. There is a gel inside that heats up as soon as a metal tab inside is broken, it just causes a chain reaction. In order to reuse it again, you just place it inside a kitchen cloth and then in boiling water. Within five minutes it will have returned to its original state, ready to be used again. Perfect for the current cold season. This is available in 10 character designs, all with their own unique backgrounds. Also in time for the latest season of Demon Slayer, which has just started airing over on Funimation And Crunchyroll.<\/span><\/p>\n

    And now onto our final item this month, with these Ukiyo-e coasters. This is a set of four coasters, traditionally made with washi paper. They feature images from four of the most famous Ukiyo-e paintings, including Kabuki (by Kunisada Utagawa), Meisho Hakkei (by Toyokuni Utagawa), Aka Fuji (by Hokusai Katsushika) and Two Women ( by Kitagawa Utamaro). All made by a company that has been specializing in washi paper for over 90 years. It is a shame however that neither the name of the company or any links to their work is never listed in the brochure. Hopefully they can add this information for future boxes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although he has some decent grades, he is disliked by fellow students for his otaku interests. Although he is a recluse, his only friend in the World is his classmate Y\u00fato It\u00f3 who is a bit of an oddball himself. These two boys have resigned themselves to believing they could never get a 3-D girlfriend and have instead dedicated themselves to anime. However, by pure chance one day, Tsutsui is late to class and is sentenced to pool cleaning duty. He is not alone however, as he is paired up with the beautiful but the schools most talked about girl - Iroha Igarashi. Through just this single interaction, their lives become intertwined forever as the love story behind Real Girl<\/em> begins.<\/span>\n\nOkay okay, I wasn\u2019t expecting much out of this show at the beginning but wow! It hit me right in the feels in the last couple of episodes! This high school romance had its ups and downs, its misunderstandings and surprises, it\u2019s far from your typical rom-com anime series. This show had deapt, so I can only imagine how good the source material was in the manga. Tsutsui is your classic teenage otaku, who prefers his own company and is incredibly awkward when it comes to interacting with \u2018real people\u2019. He does however have a best friend in It\u00f3, who has his own unique interests. It\u2019s no wonder these two had become social outcasts in high schools. However high school kids can be incredibly harsh, as all these characters are in and around 18 years old. It\u2019s not only the \u2018nerds\u2019 being bullied, but even the gorgeous Iroha who has been labelled as the \u2018school slut\u2019. The pairing is almost unimaginable, but it really works. Both Tsutsui and Iroha take their new found relationship very seriously and it changes them both for the better.<\/span>\n\nHowever there is always a catch, Iroha announces to Tsutsui that she only has another six months in this school before she transfers. They make the most of their time together, Tsutsui has difficulty expressing and understanding emotions so there are the odd misunderstandings. Iroha does all she can to improve Tsutsui\u2019s impression of himself and build his self confidence, which has a number of setbacks due to him not entirely believing her words at times. And like all great shows, there is just another massive plot twist near the end of the show. One that was utterly heartbreaking, yet with all that happens, the character development, actions, emotions - it was all utterly believable. I have to admit though, I did shead the odd tear or two during the finale episode!<\/span>\n\n\u2018Real Girl\u2019 (Riaru G\u00e1ru) first began as a sh\u00f3jo manga series by mangaka Mao Nanami back in 2011. Having completed with a total of 12 volumes in 2016, it has been published in English by Kodansha comics. However I have only been able to find the first six volumes in print, the entire series however is available to buy digitally.<\/span>\n\nIt wasn\u2019t until the manga series had ended for quite some time, was this 24 episode anime adaption released in 2018 from studio - Hoods Entertainment. This animation studio is still rather new having founded in 2009, but have since done a number of animes including Mysterious Girlfriend X and Drifters, under the name Hoods Drifters Studio. If that wasn\u2019t enough, there was also a live action film adaption released in 2018 under the name \u201c3D Kanojo Riaru G\u0101ru\u201d<\/span>\n\nBonus Features Include:<\/span>\n

It was a seriously good show, great character development, played out like a more serious teen drama rather than a romantic comedy. Would highly suggest this anime for fans of \u2018Golden Time\u2019 and \u2018Toradora\u2019. Time sure is flying by, as a full year has almost passed since Cocoa transferred to this delightful town. Chino has begun to open up more to her new friends, much to Cocoas\u2019 delight as she continues to play the self appointed role of \u2018Big Sister'. They go on a number of adventures this season, including investigating what is haunting Sharo\u2019s house, taking up ballet and helping Chino and her school friends come up with a dance routine for an arts festival. Cocoa\u2019s older sister comes to visit and the young girls go on a mountain trip, to stay the night in Rize\u2019s family cabin. There is plenty of fun, mischief and caffeine in this second season of Is The Order A Rabbit??<\/span><\/em>\n\nThis is such a wholesome anime, that is just a group of girls who help run local caf\u00e9s and who just so happen to be friends. It\u2019s been about five months since my last review on this series with season one and I am delighted to be returning back to this show again. It reminds me a good bit of K-On, just minus the music element to the show. The same familiar faces return with their bubbly attitudes, their friendships seem to have grown and there is now a lovely connection between the older and younger girls in the show as both groups do hang out with one another. This is of course down to Chino being a key member of both friend groups. We also see the return of Tippy, also known as the rabbit that Chino\u2019s grandfather possessed. Although we have yet to discover just how on Earth this happened?!<\/span>\n\nNot only do we see some growth in this series from our characters, but also some of the fears and insecurities they have. For instance, Cocoa was always trying to imitate her older sister Mocha, due to Cocoa being the youngest within her family. Although delighted to see her sister again, for the first time in twelve months. Cocoa is incredibly nervous as to how Mocha will react to how she has been doing as a \u2018big sister\u2019 and is also afraid that Mocha will take over her role within the group. Then we have Chino, she has never been outside of her town before, let alone without her family. So the trip with her friends to the mountains was a first for the girl as she battled against the fear she had of leaving her familiar surroundings. There is also a pivotal scene in that particular episode between Cocoa and Chino, but I don\u2019t want to spoil it. Rize is still our combat ready expert, but has even come forth with trying to appear a bit more feminine in a certain episode where they all dress up as house maids. This is definitely one of those wholesome slice of life shows, despite the possessed rabbit.<\/span>\n\nStudio White Fox returns once again to produce Season two of this series, having already made a name for themselves with shows including Steins: Gate, The Devil is a Part-Timer and Goblin Slayer. However they are joined for Season Two by Studio Kinema Citrus, who have produced Made in Abyss, Revue Starlight, The Rising of the Shield Hero and the episode The Village Bride as part of the Star Wars Visions series. The animation for season two maintains the same crisp quality as the season before, with the characters bright eyes and energetic over reactions.<\/span>\n\nBonus features include:<\/span>\n

Just when he thinks his short life is about to end at the hands of a monster, Dororo is saved by a masked fighter, with hidden blades for arms. His name is Hyakkimaru, a human that was cursed from the day he was born. His limbs, sight, speech, hearing and even skin were traded to demons in order for his father to get his wish to rule his land unchallenged and have it flourish. Having seen just what this young warrior is capable of, Dororo decides to join him on his mission to slay every demon that stole from him and regain his humanity in the process.<\/span><\/em>\n\nMy, oh my! Now this was an action packed series, one that was full of gore, blood shed, pacts with demons and plenty of violence. I have to say, this may very well end up being my favorite anime of the year already. The story is certainly intriguing, and was actually told more from the side characters point of view instead of our demon slayer Hyakkimaru. In just 24 episodes it succeeded in developing practically every character involved, answered all questions and fully delivered on the action. It\u2019s no wonder this anime was produced by Studio MAPPA. In fact the story itself was actually first created by the \u2018Father of Manga\u2019 - Osamu Tezuka!<\/span>\n\nDororo is in fact the name of our young orphan thief, who has their own personal tragedy when it comes to their parents and identity. A whimsical child, cunning and sly, who has managed to survive thus far in this war torn land. One that is beginning to be ruled by the corrupt samurai, instead of the everyday farmers and general population. As luck would have it, Dororo is quickly saved by the traveling Hyakkimaru as he was on the hunt for one of the 48 demons that cursed him. Throughout this series, Hyakkimaru begins to restore not only his body parts, but also his emotions, voice and the ability to feel pain. One that I am sure he almost came to regret when those he began to spend time with are brutally slaughtered. We learn about both our main characters' pasts and how their stories became intertwined. Although this show did very well in managing all that it did in just 24 episodes, I still would have loved to have seen more. It is definitely a show I would recommend to people and one I will certainly be rewatching again in the future.<\/span>\n\n\u2018Dororo\u2019 was directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi, a Japanese anime director and supervisor, whose work has included the anime series of Rurouni Kenshin, Hunter x Hunter, Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn and one of the most anticipated animes of the year: Spy x Family. \u2018Dororo\u2019 was then brought to life by a collaboration between studios MAPPA and Tezuka Productions. MAPPA is of course most renowned for Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kakegurui and the up-coming Chainsaw Man! Tezuka Productions was an animation company founded by Osamu Tezuka himself, which also produced anime adaptations of many of his own manga works. Including Astro Boy, The New Adventures of Kimba, The White Lion and Black Jack. So the animation on \u2018Dororo\u2019 was incredibly sleek, well choreographed and just a pure delight to watch.<\/span>\n\nBonus features include:<\/span>\n

        • Promos<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\nThis isn\u2019t the first anime adaption of \u2018Dororo\u2019, in fact the story was first published in 1967 and ran for just two years before being canceled. Thankfully however the title was picked up by another magazine and the tale was concluded in 1969. This manga was then adapted into a 26 episode anime series by Mushi Production, way back in 1969.<\/span>\n\nDororo later had a revival in 2018, when the manga was later adapted again in an ongoing series by Satoshi Shiki, entitled: The Legend of Dororo and Hyakkimaru. This one in fact has been picked up by Seven Seas Entertainment and was done in the same character design as this very anime adaptation which was released in 2019. She awakens from a cocoon after experiencing a realistic dream about falling from the sky. Rakka has no memories of her past, but is soon comforted by a number of other Haibane that live within the same building. Rakka\u2019s mind is tormented with questions of her own existence, she learns the rules of living as a Haibane, the dark truth behind the charcoal wings and the heart ache associated with losing a close friend. There is nowhere for Rakka to run to, as she must now reside herself to living within this sleepy town surrounded by impenetrable walls - where only the crows and a mysterious group known as the Toga may come and go.<\/span>\n\nThis is a rather odd series I have to say, however there is much to unpack when it comes to each of the characters and the existence of the Haibane. Although they appear similar to angels, they can not use their wings but do indeed have halos above their heads. This is a very painful process we learn in the first episode, as Rakka goes through the bloody transformation when two wings begin to sprout from her back. It\u2019s not entirely explained as to why this town is sealed off from the outside world, but my interpretation is that they are in purgatory. A rest stop before going to heaven of hell, to see if their spirits\/souls can be cleansed. Which would make sense in my mind. However the series is still left up to interpretation by the end.<\/span>\n\nRakka is the latest Haibane to arrive in the town and we mostly see the world through her eyes. However we do also meet several other Haibane who are struggling with their own issues, either emotionally, responsibility, communicating with others or are simply so racked up in quilt from their past actions that they were born sin-bound with black charcoal wings. The series soon turns to one about breaking the \u2018Circle of Sin\u2019 when Rakka becomes infected and later learns of another's' struggle. The series has a somewhat satisfying ending, although is left open for future development - which never occurred unfortunately.<\/span>\n\nHaibane Renmei was directed by Tomokaze Tokoro, a Japanese animator who has also directed Hellsing Ultimate, Seven Deadly Sins: Signs of Holy War and Maria Holic Alive. With studio Radix Ace Entertainment handling the animation. Unfortunately this studio closed back in 2006, but was responsible for bringing us the Sakura Wars movies.<\/span>\n\nBonus features include:<\/span><\/strong>\n\nThe Collector\u2019s Edition will arrive in a hardback art box, featuring an artistic image of Rakka as though she has been immortalized in a painting. He is probably best known for his earlier work: Serial Experiments Lain. He has since worked on a number of other media, including anime, music videos, games and even art books. His artistic career first began when he was a teenager in Tokyo, as he used to be a graffiti artist who had regular run-ins with the police due to his artwork. ABe continued to expand the Haibane Renmei universe with a total of five d\u00f3jinshi released between 1998 and 2002, but I am unaware if these were ever professionally published or translated. The 13 episode anime series was later adapted and released in 2002.<\/span>\n\nThis isn\u2019t your typical high budget, fan favorite modern anime series, it\u2019s more or a trip to the not too distant past and the types of anime that were released back then. This will be a nostalgic trip for some and a complete bore for others. They eventually join forces when they discover what the other can lend to the investigation. However danger soon arises when strange half-human, half-beast creatures begin to attack during the night. The plot deepens when connections begin to form between the victims, a local pharmaceutical company and a mysterious religious sect. Just what does this skull masked vigilante have to do with all of this?<\/span>\n\nOtomo city resembles more of a prison than a metropolis. With guards posted at train stations, with strict requirements for those entering, a curfew at night for the \u2018residents safety\u2019 and a select few that appear to govern the entire city at a wim - however all appear to be corrupt. Almost every single character we meet has their own terrible secret - a hidden past, are plotting a takeover, are seeking revenge or have become slaves to the people that created them into the monsters they have become. Then we have the innocent children that attend the church orphanage, under the kind and gentle teachings of a former member - Fr. Yoshio Kanzaki, a close friend of Hayato\u2019s. There are still innocent people in this World, even though they appear helpless.<\/span>\n\nThere is much to unpack in this series, with some surprise character twists, family connections, mysterious but highly intelligent monsters and some captivating fights. This show was quite different from what I was expecting, it was actually quite enjoyable and well worth checking out. I actually find it hard to believe that this particular anime first came out in 2007 - I actually thought this was perhaps one or two years old.<\/span>\n\n\u2018The Skull Man\u2019 was directed by Takeshi Mori, who is perhaps better known for Ruin Explorers, Gunsmith Cats, Vandread and Stratos 4. \u2018Skull Man\u2019 was animated then by studio Bones, infamous for their work on Wolf\u2019s Rain, Fullmetal Alchemist, Space Dandy, My Hero Academia and Carole & Tuesday.<\/span>\n\nBonus features include:<\/span><\/strong>\n

Created by iconic mangaka: Shotaro Ishinomori, whose other works included Kamen Rider, Cyborg 009 and Super Sentai. Without his creative genius, we may never have gotten Power Rangers. Skull Man was originally a 100 page one shot manga that he had pitched to the producers at Toei, while they were developing the Kamen Rider TV series. After several revisions, due to how dark the initial story was - one I would have loved to have seen, he called upon manga artist Kazuhiko Shimamoto to adapt his original story after Ishinomori had fallen ill in the late 90\u2019s. That adaptation turned into seven manga volumes, which was later picked up and translated by Tokyopop. Which may very well be a rare find nowadays. The franchise later adapted a live action television film in 2007, just before this 13 episode anime was released. Following that another 2 manga volumes were released by Shotaro Ishinomori in 2007, which was picked up by Kodansha.<\/span>\n\n\u2018The Skull Man\u2019 is renowned for being amongst one of the first antiheroes to be seen in a manga. As well as being just another creative title from the influential manga artist - Shotaro Ishinomori. This item is also from a similar series that was included exactly a year ago in the first box of 2021, which featured a Hello Kitty\/My Melody daruma plush. These are great for cuddling and even for display.<\/span>\n\n\n\n\n\nOur second item is also from Sanrio, with this DIY Mascot sewing kit. This kit is available in two different Sanrio characters, including Pompompurin and Cinnamoroll. The end result is supposed to make a Sanrio felt plushie keychain, on the second image above on the left in yellow, are the items that are included in the packet. The items on the right is everything you will need to complete this craft. This character has since had his own animated series in 2020, which follows the daily adventures of Kapibarasan and his animal friends as they chill out among the Midorino Grasslands. His merchandise also includes this small decorative plate, which you could place individual mochi on, maybe as a saucer for your cup of green tea or even maybe as a soy sauce dish.<\/span>\n\n\n\nMoving on we have a small tube of hand gel, featuring Sumikkogurashi. This particular item was available in four character designs including Shirokuma, Neko, Tokage and Penguin. Due to the clear liquid inside of the tube, I was thinking perhaps it was hand sanitizer which would have been very thoughtful given the ongoing global situation. However I did not find any indication of an alcohol level, so I would assume this is just normal hand gel with chamomile extract. Thoughtful all the same and a handy size to keep on you while you travel.<\/span>\n\n\n\nOur third Sanrio item of this month's box is a stacking case. This cube shaped desk organizer is constructed in a way that just screams, \u2018buy all of them in order to create your own organizational tower!\u2019 Available in four character designs including Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, My Melody and Pompompurin. Each box is color themed around a Sanrio character, with the front of each box having its own window and character designs stickered on it. The ideal size for storing jewelry, small items of stationary, nail varnishes or other little knick knacks.<\/span>\n\n\n\n\n\nOur last item from this box is a rather adorable hanging face towel from Sumikkogurashi, which has been hand stitched into the back of the character's plush head. This item was available in three character designs, including Shirokuma, Neko and Tokage. This item is quite soft, the towel can be rolled up and tucked neatly into the plush character head and then hung up from a loop on the back of a door or hook.               We return to an integrated social media society, with technology that allows a user to dive right into a whole other world where they can recreate themselves using their \u2018biometrics\u2019. Which is exactly what 17 year old Japanese high school girl Suzu does in order to escape her self isolating life. Through her new form and online identity, she finds the courage to sing aloud again through the social networking platform - \u2018U\u2019. Her performance soon begins to gain immense momentum, as she rises to the top of the music charts, with regular performances and expert promotion from her classmate - Belle becomes an online icon.<\/span><\/p>\n

              Belle is idolized by her fans, although much like reality there are also many that scrutinize her, with cyber bullying and trolls being a constant presence. Just like how many are hoping to unmask Belle and discover her real life identity - just as many are also after the \u2018beast\u2019 known as The Dragon. A highly skilled fighter that has been making a name for himself in the online combat circuit, who is also being chased down by a self-righteous vigilante group led by superhero wannabe Justin. As Belle and the \u2018Beast\u2019s\u2019 paths cross during one of her performances, Suzu develops a fascination into doing all she can to uncover just who The Dragon is. From here Suzu seeks him out, only to find his castle and the story of Disney\u2019s Beauty and the Beast begins to be recreated almost scene for scene. The similarity in this film is too on the nose for my taste.<\/span><\/p>\n

              However there is plenty of character development, a very entertaining music score and performances, as well as real depictions of everyday life in a Japanese countryside town. As well as a high school girl's normal life, as she struggles with her feelings of not being enough, the loss of her mother, developing a first crush and the complexity of \u2018mean girl politics\u2019 in school. But then there is a massive curve ball I never saw coming! One that was so shocking, that I don\u2019t think the viewers were really prepared for it. This film is emotional, for instance with Suzu who lost her mother in a very tragic way several years ago, she has since grown distant from her father every day and also has so little confidence that she instead prefers to sing underneath a table than stand with the local choir club she is with. There are a number of interesting characters within this film, ones I wish were explored just a bit more, perhaps with an extra 30 minutes this may have been achieved. \u2018Belle\u2019 doesn\u2019t feel entirely original, it has so many similarities to a number of Hosoda\u2019s other works including the first Digimon film and Summer Wars. It is still far from Hosoda\u2019s best, but it is still worth checking out even just for the visuals and music.<\/span><\/p>\n

              And if that wasn\u2019t enough, I have to give a massive shout out to the Oscar\u00ae-nominated team of Tom Moore and Ross Stewart from Irish animation studio - Cartoon Saloon (Wolfwalkers, Song of the Sea, The Secret of Kells), who brought to life the fantastic scenes that are part of the virtual world \"U\".<\/span><\/p>\n

              Hello everyone and welcome back to a new Nihon Box review. We are now well underway into 2022, so let\u2019s begin this review with that all important information on just who Nihon Box is!<\/span><\/p>\n

              Nihon Box is a Japanese monthly subscription service that handpicks at least 6 items each month that are almost exclusive to Japan and ships them straight to your door. Their items are a mixture of Otaku Anime related merchandise and figures, as well as traditional Japanese items, from sweets to tableware. All of this is available to subscribe to monthly, just keep reading along to see just how affordable it can be.<\/span><\/p>\n

              There are savings to be had with the monthly subscriptions, as the more months you pay upfront the cheaper the price for individual boxes will be.<\/span> https:\/\/www.nihonbox.com\/en<\/a><\/p>\n

              Monthly is \u20ac29.99 plus shipping costs<\/span><\/p>\n

              3 Months is a single payment of \u20ac86.97, making each box \u20ac28.99, plus shipping costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

              6 Months is a single payment of \u20ac170.94, making each box \u20ac28.49, plus shipping costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

              Due to the latest European VAT legislation that came about last year, the overall cost after shipping has increased slightly. The folks behind Nihon Box have done all they can to make this transition as simple as possible, so they have taken the necessary steps & changes in order to include the VAT directly in the subscription\u2019s price. This change will normally be effective starting from the next renewal of your subscription, with the addition of the VAT in the final price (19% for Germany). And from August last year, as a small gift of appreciation to their overseas customers they will be including a 1000yen gift card to their YattaJapan.com store. As an idea of how much the charge has gone up, prior to last August I was paying \u20ac32.89 a month. The new price I pay now is \u20ac40.45 a month, which is a nice increase but I believe the value is still there within the box. Now once it arrived in Ireland, I have been charged customs through An Post. Totalling just under \u20ac9euro the first month, with this particular box being around the \u20ac10 mark on top of the \u20ac40.45 I pay each month, making this a rather expensive price hike in the end. However this is all due to inflation and the recent customs changes within the EU, whilst Nihon Box is still cramming in as much value into the box as possible from their side.<\/span><\/p>\n

              So let\u2019s get underway with seeing just what was included in this particular Nihon Box. I will also be doing something a bit different with these reviews, as I will try to find the same products online based on UK websites and see if the value is indeed there with Nihon Box. So first up we have the \u2018Pok\u00e9mon Kids Pikachu Pika Pika\u2019 figure. This is a collection of thumb sized Pikachu figures that were released last February in celebration of Pok\u00e9mons 25th anniversary. With 12 to collect, each Nihon Box received one at random.<\/span><\/p>\n

              The second item out of the box is this Coreful figure from The Quintessential Quintuplets, in celebration of the upcoming movie that is hitting the big screen in Japan this Summer. This figure range has five to collect, with each box receiving one of the sisters. All appear to be in their school uniforms, and I must admit they would make a lovely display if you were able to get all five together. The poses they all have, seem to portray each of their personalities, however this is still a series I have yet to delve into. These figures are also made by Taito and you would be more inclined to see them as arcade prizes in Japan, however they are still pretty decent quality.<\/span><\/p>\n

              You can find this particular figure going for \u00a319.99 over on Dekai Anime, which is still up for January pre-order. Meaning many of us have just gotten this figure weeks before its general release in the U.K<\/span><\/p>\n

              Our third item comes straight from My Hero Academia, with their own Fuwakororin. This is a series of small round plush keychains, with six characters to collect. The characters appear all short and deformed, making it a rather interesting character appearance for this range. The characters included in this series include Deku, Bakugo, All Might, Shoto, Ochako and Tsuyu. I wasn\u2019t able to find this particular series on any known anime merch websites that I am aware of, but would price it around the \u00a310 to \u00a312 mark.<\/span><\/p>\n

              However I did find it on ebay for an extortionate amount! For Bakugo in particular, which was the one I received, the seller was asking for \u20ac26.89 and another \u20ac26.89 for postage! For the combined cost alone of this one small item you could just order your own Nihon Box and still have change left over!<\/span><\/p>\n

              Our fourth item is this rather stylish Haikyu shirt, featuring Hinata and Kageyama. Now this really is a treat as it has been some time since we have had a tshirt included in the box, not forgetting also getting a figure as well! This particular shirt is black in color, featuring our two main protagonists Hinata and Kageyama with Haikyu!! written lengthways down the center. Now I can not find this particular shirt online, however I can not see it being any way under \u00a320 to buy. It seems to be of fine quality and well printed, looking forward to trying this one on.<\/span><\/p>\n

              <\/p>\n

              Our fifth item is perfect for a quick snack, with this entire packet of Okoshi. A traditional puffed rice snack in Japan, with three different flavors featuring in this packet - including shiso plum, matcha and peanuts. Also this particular product was made in Kyoto, by a company that has been producing them since 1890. However once again I was unable to find these anyway online for sale, but would price it around the \u00a34 to \u00a35 mark.<\/span><\/p>\n

              Our sixth item is this authentic Daruma rice bowl, which is incredibly detailed as you can see from the images above. The inside of the bowl features a very ghibli esque Daruma, with kanji painted inside, which I believe translates to:<\/span><\/p>\n

              \u2018Fall seven times, stand up eight.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

              Which is a sentence commonly associated with Daruma\u2019s, due to their designs and being a traditional symbol of the New Year. The outside of the bowl also has the same Daruma design and sentence, but in color. It really is a rather delightful edition to the ever growing collection and in fact you can also find it on Amazon for \u00a315.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yatta Japan is also run by the same folks behind Nihon Box, where you can pre-order figures, buy Japanese snacks and even issues of Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine! The voucher can be used at check out, on all items except pre-orders. So watch out for that folks, also you can only use one gift card per transaction. Shipping is also a bit pricey for those of us in Ireland, as they only offer express shipping at the moment. Also don\u2019t forget that you will have to pay Customs separately for anything from outside the EU through An Post when it arrives in the country. So it all adds up unfortunately.<\/span><\/p>\n

              So there we have it folks, that is everything from our first box of 2022. So at the end of the day this box is \u20ac40.45, throw on another \u20ac10 to cover customs, for a grand total of \u20ac50.45.<\/span><\/p>\n

              Hello everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Today we are going to do a recap of what was inside the very last SoKawaii box of 2021! The theme they ran with this month was \u2018Kawaii Under The Christmas Tree\u2019. Which certainly lived up to its name for sure. So let\u2019s begin with the usual info on just who exactly SoKawaii is.<\/span><\/p>\n

              For those of you that don\u2019t know \u2013 So Kawaii is a company based in Japan, home of practically everything kawaii (the Japanese word for cute). They create monthly subscription boxes, jam packed with 100% licensed products from brands such as Hello Kitty, Pok\u00e9mon, Sanrio, Studio Ghibli and more. The items range from plushies to Gachapon, little figures, stationary, lifestyle, kitchenware and more. The staff at So Kawaii handpicks 5 to 7 cute & useful items exclusive to Japan, packs them up in a very decorative box and sends it straight to your doorstep each month. You can also check out their Instagram for even more info and insights into what is currently trending in Japanese arcades and stores. As well as sneak peeks into what they could be including in next month\u2019s box.               Our first item straight out of the box is this holiday themed Summikko Gurashi plate. Made from bamboo fiber, making it more sustainable than plastic. This plate is a lovely addition to all your meals and snacks this holiday season, as it features all of the Summikko Gurashi characters in their festive outfits. This is also a SoKawaii exclusive, so you can\u2019t even buy this item in the shops. Aren\u2019t we lucky!<\/span><\/p>\n

              <\/p>\n

              Next up is this pair of Pok\u00e9mon hair scrunchies, aka go-go\u2019s for all you fellow Irish folks. This item is available in 6 designs, including Pikachu and Jigglypuff. The pack will include two scrunchies of the same Pok\u00e9mon, with the elastic matching the color of the character you receive. The main design will feature the head of the Pok\u00e9mon enclosed in plastic with a number of small sparkly stars inside. It\u2019s very cute looking, but I don't see myself using these very often.<\/span><\/p>\n

              Following that we have a small Keychain Photo holder from Disney. This item is available in seven character designs, a perfect size if you wish to carry a small sentimental picture on your keys. This item looks like it came from a gachapon series, worth just a few euros but will only grow in value when you add a cherished photo to it.<\/span><\/p>\n

              Our next item comes straight from Sanrio, with this My Melody soap case. There is just something about having a bar of soap in the bathroom, that is just more comforting to see than just a bottle of hand wash. This case is pretty well thought out, with the top being in the shape of My Melody's head and the bottom dish having built in slits that are there to allow the water to run out when you put the soap back. This item is sure to add just another touch of kawaii to your bathroom.<\/span><\/p>\n

              Our second last item is one that was previously announced prior to the boxes being shipped out. In celebration of season 4 after hitting Netflix, we have a Christmas themed Retsuko plush from the hit show - Aggretsuko! This item was available in every single box and was an exclusive plushie for SoKawaii. In which we got a medium sized Retsuko plush, in a Santa inspired outfit. This plush is sure to make a reappearance every year when the festive season returns!<\/span><\/p>\n

              And we are now onto our final item of 2021, with this Rilakkuma \u2018Pajama Party\u2019 Home Mat. Yes people you heard that right, I have received yet another mat in a subscription box! I think that now makes four in total, so fingers crossed that\u2019s the end of it for a long time. However this is quite an adorable mat, featuring our trio of San-X characters - Rilakkuma, Korilakkuma and Kiiroitori. With slip mat bobbles on the bottom, so you don\u2019t slip all over the place. This is certainly a great addition to a little girls room, or in my case - right in front of my wardrobe.<\/span><\/p>\n

              Our first item this month is a Shaman King figure from Banpresto. Seeing as Shaman King has had a remake just this year from Netflix, the merch and figures have begun to appear at a steady pace. So fair play to Nihon Box for including these figures in the final box of the year. With three characters available, including main man Yoh Asakura, his brother Hao and even Yoh\u2019s fianc\u00e9e Anna Kyoyama.<\/span><\/p>\n

              <\/p>\n

              Our next item is from the infamous Dragon Ball franchise, with this Shenron towel. This towel is more of a long, narrow hand towel. Although it does very much look like a cool scarf. It also resembles the color of a christmas tree, so why not include it in the December box! Also who doesn\u2019t want a towel of a mighty dragon?!<\/span><\/p>\n

              <\/p>\n

              Following in Dragon Balls footsteps, is one of the more recent big hits from Shonen Jump - with Jujutsu Kaisen. This dark fantasy, supernatural adventure follows a young high school student named Yuji Itadori as he joins a secret organization in order to kill a powerful curse that has possessed him. This is a series I have yet to jump into myself, so let me know in the comments below or across our social media what your opinions are on Jujutsu Kaisen. So Nihon Box has included a plush in every box this month, to celebrate the release of the first Jujutsu Kaisen film in cinemas over in Japan. With four character plushies to collect, including Yuji Itadori, Gojo Satoru, Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki. They are a handy size, perfect to put on a shelf, seem to be well stitched together and dressed. I\u2019m sure any JJK fan would be happy to own one of these.<\/span><\/p>\n

              <\/p>\n

              Our next item is pretty damn well special, as it\u2019s a 3D puzzle of Tokyo Tower. Even more amazing and something I did not realize until reading the leaflet, is that when you take it out of the packaging, the building parts are arranged in a way that they spell out Tokyo in Kanji. So in fact this item is actually known as a Kanji Model kit of Tokyo Tower. However I do have to say that although it was simple enough to put together, getting it out of the packaging and trying to remove all the little plastic bits that held it together - was a bit of a nuisance. This would be no issue at all for those that have had experience with model kits like Gundam.<\/span><\/p>\n

              <\/p>\n

              Moving right along, we have the return of Kirby and his Limited Edition Beauty Care range. We have had this same exact range before where we received hand cream, this time it's back with lip cream. The packaging is just adorable and would make a lovely little gift, or even just used for display. The design also celebrates five different prefectures in Japan, including Okinawa, Kyoto, Yokohama, Osaka and Hokkaido. Only one of which is available in every box.<\/span><\/p>\n

              <\/p>\n

              Next up, is a nod towards the new year as we all received a Tiger Dorei Statuette, to symbolize 2022 - The year of the Tiger. Those of you that have enjoyed the Fruits Basket franchise, will be all too familiar with the Chinese Zodiac and their animal spirits. Whereas over here in the West we are more familiar with the astrology zodiac, where the time of year you are born points out your star sign. In Japan, your zodiac animal is determined by what year you are born. With it coming full circle every 12 years to begin again. This particular statuette has a small bell inside, comes with its own little pedestal and traditional looking folding screen for some decorative background art. This is a lovely piece of Japanese culture to own and one day, I would like to own the rest of the zodiac animals in the same design.<\/span><\/p>\n

              Hello everyone and welcome back to another Nihon Box review, where today I take a look at what was included in November's box. So sit back and enjoy this Autumn season themed box. But first, a quick word about Nihon Box. The Anime and Japanese culture subscription box, with details on how you can sign up for your very own subscription.<\/span><\/p>\n

              Nihon Box is a Japanese monthly subscription service that handpicks at least 6 items each month that are almost exclusive to Japan and ships them straight to your door. Their items are a mixture of Otaku Anime related merchandise and figures, as well as traditional Japanese items, from sweets to tableware. All of this is available to subscribe to monthly, just keep reading along to see just how affordable it can be.<\/span><\/p>\n

              Monthly is \u20ac29.99 plus shipping costs<\/span><\/p>\n

              3 Months is a single payment of \u20ac86.97, making each box \u20ac28.99, plus shipping costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

              Due to the latest European VAT legislation, the overall cost after shipping has increased slightly. The folks behind Nihon Box have done all they can to make this transition as simple as possible, so they have taken the necessary steps & changes in order to include the VAT directly in the subscription\u2019s price. This change will normally be effective starting from the next renewal of your subscription, with the addition of the VAT in the final price (19% for Germany). And from August of this year, as a small gift of appreciation to their overseas customers they will be including a 1000yen gift card to their YattaJapan.com store. As an idea of how much the charge has gone up, prior to August I was paying \u20ac32.89 a month. The new price I pay now is \u20ac40.45 a month, which is a nice increase but I believe the value is still there within the box. Now once it arrived in Ireland, I have been charged customs through An Post. Totalling just under \u20ac9euro the first month, with this particular box being around the \u20ac10 mark on top of the \u20ac40.45 I pay each month, making this a rather expensive price hike in the end. However this is all due to inflation and the recent customs changes within the EU, whilst Nihon Box is still cramming in as much value into the box as possible from their side.<\/span><\/p>\n

              So let\u2019s get started with the first item from November\u2019s box, with this beautiful \u2018Aki in Japan\u2019 furoshiki. This piece of fabric is traditionally used to wrap up your bento or a gift, which is very eco friendly due to its reusability. Personally I will be using this as a decorative piece, although I haven\u2019t decided how to as of yet. This particular furoshiki was made in collaboration with a professional craftsman in Kyoto, who has been doing this for the past fifty years. The design is based off of an Autumn scene featuring Mount Fuji in the background of a shrine.<\/span><\/p>\n

              <\/p>\n

              Our next item this month is for all you Inuyasha fans out there, with this Sessh\u00f3maru noodle stopper figure. This boy has a bit of weight to him, that keeps him perfectly balanced when sitting on the edge of a shelf or indeed a Cup Ramen. This series of noodle stopper figures always have such unique poses, this one is no different. It\u2019s well crafted, skillfully designed and indeed well painted. It can join my other Inuyasha noodle stopper on the shelf, which was included in September's Nihon Box from 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

              We now move onto a slightly more recent anime franchise, with Haikyuu! This series follows a high school volleyball team as they compete in local matches, all the way up to nationals in order to repair their reputation with the assistance of a pair of talented new players. This series has a massive fanbase and Nihon Box has included it in this box with a Hug Chara Collection figure. This series of small plushies, are very cute but also useful. As within the arms will be a strong bull clip, which you can open and close by using the legs. With six characters to collect, every box will receive the main character of Sh\u00f3y\u00f3 Hinata.<\/span><\/p>\n

              <\/p>\n

              We now move on to yet another Shonen Jump franchise with Hunter x Hunter. This franchise first began back in 1998 but has been on hiatus since 2018, but still carries a strong fan base. Due to this, it has been included with this Figurine Fuchipito collection from Re-Ment. With six characters to collect, these small detailed figures each have their unique pose and sit on top of a wooden box. Like the Noodle Stopper series, they are also designed to sit on the edge of shelves, die to how well they are balanced.<\/span><\/p>\n

              <\/p>\n

              Our snack item for this month is the Kurobou Meimon. A traditional sweet and specialty of the city of Kurume, from the Fukuoka prefecture. Made from brown sugar, it carries its own unique taste that is unlike anything I have tried here in Ireland. It may not be for everyone's palette, as I didn\u2019t find myself going back very quickly to finish the second one in the package.<\/span><\/p>\n

              <\/p>\n

              So let\u2019s begin with the item on the left, which is a loyalty item bonus that you receive several times during the year when you have a continuous subscription. It is always a delight to see what might be included for free every quarter. This time, it was a small keychain plush from the FairyTail and Mameshiba collab, but I can not seem to find when this is from so it may be an old release. It\u2019s an interesting item no doubt and a collaboration I never would have put together, but it kind of works. It\u2019s cute, right?!<\/span><\/p>\n

              On the right, is our new regular to every Nihon Box - a 1000 Yen gift card for their side company \u2018Yatta Japan\u2019. This time, the gift card is valid until next Summer. However at the moment, it doesn't appear to be a good time ordering from their website as the delivery option pricing is through the roof! At least for Ireland it is, no way I want to pay over \u20ac40 in shipping for items that barely come to \u20ac20. Fingers crossed they manage to sort this out in the new year, as I would prefer some economy shipping at least.<\/span><\/p>\n

              Our last anime related item of the box is the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba item pictured above. Which is known as an Eco Kairo in Japan, otherwise known as a reusable pocket hand warmer. I have not seen these items in years, not since I was in school. There is a gel inside that heats up as soon as a metal tab inside is broken, it just causes a chain reaction. In order to reuse it again, you just place it inside a kitchen cloth and then in boiling water. Within five minutes it will have returned to its original state, ready to be used again. Perfect for the current cold season. This is available in 10 character designs, all with their own unique backgrounds. Also in time for the latest season of Demon Slayer, which has just started airing over on Funimation And Crunchyroll.<\/span><\/p>\n

              And now onto our final item this month, with these Ukiyo-e coasters. This is a set of four coasters, traditionally made with washi paper. They feature images from four of the most famous Ukiyo-e paintings, including Kabuki (by Kunisada Utagawa), Meisho Hakkei (by Toyokuni Utagawa), Aka Fuji (by Hokusai Katsushika) and Two Women ( by Kitagawa Utamaro). All made by a company that has been specializing in washi paper for over 90 years. It is a shame however that neither the name of the company or any links to their work is never listed in the brochure. Hopefully they can add this information for future boxes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although he has some decent grades, he is disliked by fellow students for his otaku interests. Although he is a recluse, his only friend in the World is his classmate Y\u00fato It\u00f3 who is a bit of an oddball himself. These two boys have resigned themselves to believing they could never get a 3-D girlfriend and have instead dedicated themselves to anime. However, by pure chance one day, Tsutsui is late to class and is sentenced to pool cleaning duty. He is not alone however, as he is paired up with the beautiful but the schools most talked about girl - Iroha Igarashi. Through just this single interaction, their lives become intertwined forever as the love story behind Real Girl<\/em> begins.<\/span>\n\nOkay okay, I wasn\u2019t expecting much out of this show at the beginning but wow! It hit me right in the feels in the last couple of episodes! This high school romance had its ups and downs, its misunderstandings and surprises, it\u2019s far from your typical rom-com anime series. This show had deapt, so I can only imagine how good the source material was in the manga. Tsutsui is your classic teenage otaku, who prefers his own company and is incredibly awkward when it comes to interacting with \u2018real people\u2019. He does however have a best friend in It\u00f3, who has his own unique interests. It\u2019s no wonder these two had become social outcasts in high schools. However high school kids can be incredibly harsh, as all these characters are in and around 18 years old. It\u2019s not only the \u2018nerds\u2019 being bullied, but even the gorgeous Iroha who has been labelled as the \u2018school slut\u2019. The pairing is almost unimaginable, but it really works. Both Tsutsui and Iroha take their new found relationship very seriously and it changes them both for the better.<\/span>\n\nHowever there is always a catch, Iroha announces to Tsutsui that she only has another six months in this school before she transfers. They make the most of their time together, Tsutsui has difficulty expressing and understanding emotions so there are the odd misunderstandings. Iroha does all she can to improve Tsutsui\u2019s impression of himself and build his self confidence, which has a number of setbacks due to him not entirely believing her words at times. And like all great shows, there is just another massive plot twist near the end of the show. One that was utterly heartbreaking, yet with all that happens, the character development, actions, emotions - it was all utterly believable. I have to admit though, I did shead the odd tear or two during the finale episode!<\/span>\n\n\u2018Real Girl\u2019 (Riaru G\u00e1ru) first began as a sh\u00f3jo manga series by mangaka Mao Nanami back in 2011. Having completed with a total of 12 volumes in 2016, it has been published in English by Kodansha comics. However I have only been able to find the first six volumes in print, the entire series however is available to buy digitally.<\/span>\n\nIt wasn\u2019t until the manga series had ended for quite some time, was this 24 episode anime adaption released in 2018 from studio - Hoods Entertainment. This animation studio is still rather new having founded in 2009, but have since done a number of animes including Mysterious Girlfriend X and Drifters, under the name Hoods Drifters Studio. If that wasn\u2019t enough, there was also a live action film adaption released in 2018 under the name \u201c3D Kanojo Riaru G\u0101ru\u201d<\/span>\n\nBonus Features Include:<\/span>\n

It was a seriously good show, great character development, played out like a more serious teen drama rather than a romantic comedy. Would highly suggest this anime for fans of \u2018Golden Time\u2019 and \u2018Toradora\u2019. Time sure is flying by, as a full year has almost passed since Cocoa transferred to this delightful town. Chino has begun to open up more to her new friends, much to Cocoas\u2019 delight as she continues to play the self appointed role of \u2018Big Sister'. They go on a number of adventures this season, including investigating what is haunting Sharo\u2019s house, taking up ballet and helping Chino and her school friends come up with a dance routine for an arts festival. Cocoa\u2019s older sister comes to visit and the young girls go on a mountain trip, to stay the night in Rize\u2019s family cabin. There is plenty of fun, mischief and caffeine in this second season of Is The Order A Rabbit??<\/span><\/em>\n\nThis is such a wholesome anime, that is just a group of girls who help run local caf\u00e9s and who just so happen to be friends. It\u2019s been about five months since my last review on this series with season one and I am delighted to be returning back to this show again. It reminds me a good bit of K-On, just minus the music element to the show. The same familiar faces return with their bubbly attitudes, their friendships seem to have grown and there is now a lovely connection between the older and younger girls in the show as both groups do hang out with one another. This is of course down to Chino being a key member of both friend groups. We also see the return of Tippy, also known as the rabbit that Chino\u2019s grandfather possessed. Although we have yet to discover just how on Earth this happened?!<\/span>\n\nNot only do we see some growth in this series from our characters, but also some of the fears and insecurities they have. For instance, Cocoa was always trying to imitate her older sister Mocha, due to Cocoa being the youngest within her family. Although delighted to see her sister again, for the first time in twelve months. Cocoa is incredibly nervous as to how Mocha will react to how she has been doing as a \u2018big sister\u2019 and is also afraid that Mocha will take over her role within the group. Then we have Chino, she has never been outside of her town before, let alone without her family. So the trip with her friends to the mountains was a first for the girl as she battled against the fear she had of leaving her familiar surroundings. There is also a pivotal scene in that particular episode between Cocoa and Chino, but I don\u2019t want to spoil it. Rize is still our combat ready expert, but has even come forth with trying to appear a bit more feminine in a certain episode where they all dress up as house maids. This is definitely one of those wholesome slice of life shows, despite the possessed rabbit.<\/span>\n\nStudio White Fox returns once again to produce Season two of this series, having already made a name for themselves with shows including Steins: Gate, The Devil is a Part-Timer and Goblin Slayer. However they are joined for Season Two by Studio Kinema Citrus, who have produced Made in Abyss, Revue Starlight, The Rising of the Shield Hero and the episode The Village Bride as part of the Star Wars Visions series. The animation for season two maintains the same crisp quality as the season before, with the characters bright eyes and energetic over reactions.<\/span>\n\nBonus features include:<\/span>\n

Just when he thinks his short life is about to end at the hands of a monster, Dororo is saved by a masked fighter, with hidden blades for arms. His name is Hyakkimaru, a human that was cursed from the day he was born. His limbs, sight, speech, hearing and even skin were traded to demons in order for his father to get his wish to rule his land unchallenged and have it flourish. Having seen just what this young warrior is capable of, Dororo decides to join him on his mission to slay every demon that stole from him and regain his humanity in the process.<\/span><\/em>\n\nMy, oh my! Now this was an action packed series, one that was full of gore, blood shed, pacts with demons and plenty of violence. I have to say, this may very well end up being my favorite anime of the year already. The story is certainly intriguing, and was actually told more from the side characters point of view instead of our demon slayer Hyakkimaru. In just 24 episodes it succeeded in developing practically every character involved, answered all questions and fully delivered on the action. It\u2019s no wonder this anime was produced by Studio MAPPA. In fact the story itself was actually first created by the \u2018Father of Manga\u2019 - Osamu Tezuka!<\/span>\n\nDororo is in fact the name of our young orphan thief, who has their own personal tragedy when it comes to their parents and identity. A whimsical child, cunning and sly, who has managed to survive thus far in this war torn land. One that is beginning to be ruled by the corrupt samurai, instead of the everyday farmers and general population. As luck would have it, Dororo is quickly saved by the traveling Hyakkimaru as he was on the hunt for one of the 48 demons that cursed him. Throughout this series, Hyakkimaru begins to restore not only his body parts, but also his emotions, voice and the ability to feel pain. One that I am sure he almost came to regret when those he began to spend time with are brutally slaughtered. We learn about both our main characters' pasts and how their stories became intertwined. Although this show did very well in managing all that it did in just 24 episodes, I still would have loved to have seen more. It is definitely a show I would recommend to people and one I will certainly be rewatching again in the future.<\/span>\n\n\u2018Dororo\u2019 was directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi, a Japanese anime director and supervisor, whose work has included the anime series of Rurouni Kenshin, Hunter x Hunter, Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn and one of the most anticipated animes of the year: Spy x Family. \u2018Dororo\u2019 was then brought to life by a collaboration between studios MAPPA and Tezuka Productions. MAPPA is of course most renowned for Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kakegurui and the up-coming Chainsaw Man! Tezuka Productions was an animation company founded by Osamu Tezuka himself, which also produced anime adaptations of many of his own manga works. Including Astro Boy, The New Adventures of Kimba, The White Lion and Black Jack. So the animation on \u2018Dororo\u2019 was incredibly sleek, well choreographed and just a pure delight to watch.<\/span>\n\nBonus features include:<\/span>\n

Thankfully however the title was picked up by another magazine and the tale was concluded in 1969. This manga was then adapted into a 26 episode anime series by Mushi Production, way back in 1969.<\/span>\n\nDororo later had a revival in 2018, when the manga was later adapted again in an ongoing series by Satoshi Shiki, entitled: The Legend of Dororo and Hyakkimaru. This one in fact has been picked up by Seven Seas Entertainment and was done in the same character design as this very anime adaptation which was released in 2019. Rakka\u2019s mind is tormented with questions of her own existence, she learns the rules of living as a Haibane, the dark truth behind the charcoal wings and the heart ache associated with losing a close friend. There is nowhere for Rakka to run to, as she must now reside herself to living within this sleepy town surrounded by impenetrable walls - where only the crows and a mysterious group known as the Toga may come and go.<\/span>\n\nThis is a rather odd series I have to say, however there is much to unpack when it comes to each of the characters and the existence of the Haibane. Although they appear similar to angels, they can not use their wings but do indeed have halos above their heads. This is a very painful process we learn in the first episode, as Rakka goes through the bloody transformation when two wings begin to sprout from her back. It\u2019s not entirely explained as to why this town is sealed off from the outside world, but my interpretation is that they are in purgatory. A rest stop before going to heaven of hell, to see if their spirits\/souls can be cleansed. Which would make sense in my mind. However the series is still left up to interpretation by the end.<\/span>\n\nRakka is the latest Haibane to arrive in the town and we mostly see the world through her eyes. However we do also meet several other Haibane who are struggling with their own issues, either emotionally, responsibility, communicating with others or are simply so racked up in quilt from their past actions that they were born sin-bound with black charcoal wings. The series soon turns to one about breaking the \u2018Circle of Sin\u2019 when Rakka becomes infected and later learns of another's' struggle. The series has a somewhat satisfying ending, although is left open for future development - which never occurred unfortunately.<\/span>\n\nHaibane Renmei was directed by Tomokaze Tokoro, a Japanese animator who has also directed Hellsing Ultimate, Seven Deadly Sins: Signs of Holy War and Maria Holic Alive. With studio Radix Ace Entertainment handling the animation. Unfortunately this studio closed back in 2006, but was responsible for bringing us the Sakura Wars movies.<\/span>\n\nBonus features include:<\/span><\/strong>\n\nThe Collector\u2019s Edition will arrive in a hardback art box, featuring an artistic image of Rakka as though she has been immortalized in a painting. He is probably best known for his earlier work: Serial Experiments Lain. He has since worked on a number of other media, including anime, music videos, games and even art books. His artistic career first began when he was a teenager in Tokyo, as he used to be a graffiti artist who had regular run-ins with the police due to his artwork. ABe continued to expand the Haibane Renmei universe with a total of five d\u00f3jinshi released between 1998 and 2002, but I am unaware if these were ever professionally published or translated. The 13 episode anime series was later adapted and released in 2002.<\/span>\n\nThis isn\u2019t your typical high budget, fan favorite modern anime series, it\u2019s more or a trip to the not too distant past and the types of anime that were released back then. This will be a nostalgic trip for some and a complete bore for others. Just what does this skull masked vigilante have to do with all of this?<\/span>\n\nOtomo city resembles more of a prison than a metropolis. With guards posted at train stations, with strict requirements for those entering, a curfew at night for the \u2018residents safety\u2019 and a select few that appear to govern the entire city at a wim - however all appear to be corrupt. Almost every single character we meet has their own terrible secret - a hidden past, are plotting a takeover, are seeking revenge or have become slaves to the people that created them into the monsters they have become. Then we have the innocent children that attend the church orphanage, under the kind and gentle teachings of a former member - Fr. Yoshio Kanzaki, a close friend of Hayato\u2019s. There are still innocent people in this World, even though they appear helpless.<\/span>\n\nThere is much to unpack in this series, with some surprise character twists, family connections, mysterious but highly intelligent monsters and some captivating fights. This show was quite different from what I was expecting, it was actually quite enjoyable and well worth checking out. I actually find it hard to believe that this particular anime first came out in 2007 - I actually thought this was perhaps one or two years old.<\/span>\n\n\u2018The Skull Man\u2019 was directed by Takeshi Mori, who is perhaps better known for Ruin Explorers, Gunsmith Cats, Vandread and Stratos 4. \u2018Skull Man\u2019 was animated then by studio Bones, infamous for their work on Wolf\u2019s Rain, Fullmetal Alchemist, Space Dandy, My Hero Academia and Carole & Tuesday.<\/span>\n\nBonus features include:<\/span><\/strong>\n

Created by iconic mangaka: Shotaro Ishinomori, whose other works included Kamen Rider, Cyborg 009 and Super Sentai. Without his creative genius, we may never have gotten Power Rangers. Skull Man was originally a 100 page one shot manga that he had pitched to the producers at Toei, while they were developing the Kamen Rider TV series. After several revisions, due to how dark the initial story was - one I would have loved to have seen, he called upon manga artist Kazuhiko Shimamoto to adapt his original story after Ishinomori had fallen ill in the late 90\u2019s. That adaptation turned into seven manga volumes, which was later picked up and translated by Tokyopop. Which may very well be a rare find nowadays. The franchise later adapted a live action television film in 2007, just before this 13 episode anime was released. Following that another 2 manga volumes were released by Shotaro Ishinomori in 2007, which was picked up by Kodansha.<\/span>\n\n\u2018The Skull Man\u2019 is renowned for being amongst one of the first antiheroes to be seen in a manga. As well as being just another creative title from the influential manga artist - Shotaro Ishinomori. These are great for cuddling and even for display.<\/span>\n\n\n\n\n\nOur second item is also from Sanrio, with this DIY Mascot sewing kit. This kit is available in two different Sanrio characters, including Pompompurin and Cinnamoroll. The end result is supposed to make a Sanrio felt plushie keychain, on the second image above on the left in yellow, are the items that are included in the packet. The items on the right is everything you will need to complete this craft. His merchandise also includes this small decorative plate, which you could place individual mochi on, maybe as a saucer for your cup of green tea or even maybe as a soy sauce dish.<\/span>\n\n\n\nMoving on we have a small tube of hand gel, featuring Sumikkogurashi. This particular item was available in four character designs including Shirokuma, Neko, Tokage and Penguin. Due to the clear liquid inside of the tube, I was thinking perhaps it was hand sanitizer which would have been very thoughtful given the ongoing global situation. However I did not find any indication of an alcohol level, so I would assume this is just normal hand gel with chamomile extract. Thoughtful all the same and a handy size to keep on you while you travel.<\/span>\n\n\n\nOur third Sanrio item of this month's box is a stacking case. This cube shaped desk organizer is constructed in a way that just screams, \u2018buy all of them in order to create your own organizational tower!\u2019 Available in four character designs including Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, My Melody and Pompompurin. Each box is color themed around a Sanrio character, with the front of each box having its own window and character designs stickered on it.                       From the Oscar nominated director - Mamoru Hosoda (Wolf Children, Summer Wars, Mirai), comes his latest animated feature film - \u2018Belle\u2019<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      We return to an integrated social media society, with technology that allows a user to dive right into a whole other world where they can recreate themselves using their \u2018biometrics\u2019. Which is exactly what 17 year old Japanese high school girl Suzu does in order to escape her self isolating life. Through her new form and online identity, she finds the courage to sing aloud again through the social networking platform - \u2018U\u2019. Her performance soon begins to gain immense momentum, as she rises to the top of the music charts, with regular performances and expert promotion from her classmate - Belle becomes an online icon.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Belle is idolized by her fans, although much like reality there are also many that scrutinize her, with cyber bullying and trolls being a constant presence. Just like how many are hoping to unmask Belle and discover her real life identity - just as many are also after the \u2018beast\u2019 known as The Dragon. A highly skilled fighter that has been making a name for himself in the online combat circuit, who is also being chased down by a self-righteous vigilante group led by superhero wannabe Justin. As Belle and the \u2018Beast\u2019s\u2019 paths cross during one of her performances, Suzu develops a fascination into doing all she can to uncover just who The Dragon is. From here Suzu seeks him out, only to find his castle and the story of Disney\u2019s Beauty and the Beast begins to be recreated almost scene for scene. The similarity in this film is too on the nose for my taste.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      However there is plenty of character development, a very entertaining music score and performances, as well as real depictions of everyday life in a Japanese countryside town. As well as a high school girl's normal life, as she struggles with her feelings of not being enough, the loss of her mother, developing a first crush and the complexity of \u2018mean girl politics\u2019 in school. But then there is a massive curve ball I never saw coming! One that was so shocking, that I don\u2019t think the viewers were really prepared for it. This film is emotional, for instance with Suzu who lost her mother in a very tragic way several years ago, she has since grown distant from her father every day and also has so little confidence that she instead prefers to sing underneath a table than stand with the local choir club she is with. There are a number of interesting characters within this film, ones I wish were explored just a bit more, perhaps with an extra 30 minutes this may have been achieved. \u2018Belle\u2019 doesn\u2019t feel entirely original, it has so many similarities to a number of Hosoda\u2019s other works including the first Digimon film and Summer Wars. It is still far from Hosoda\u2019s best, but it is still worth checking out even just for the visuals and music.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      And if that wasn\u2019t enough, I have to give a massive shout out to the Oscar\u00ae-nominated team of Tom Moore and Ross Stewart from Irish animation studio - Cartoon Saloon (Wolfwalkers, Song of the Sea, The Secret of Kells), who brought to life the fantastic scenes that are part of the virtual world \"U\".<\/span><\/p>\n

                      \u2018Belle\u2019 is currently playing across Irish and UK cinemas, thanks to the hard working people over at Anime Limited (<\/span>https:\/\/www.alltheanime.com\/<\/a>).                       Due to the latest European VAT legislation that came about last year, the overall cost after shipping has increased slightly. The folks behind Nihon Box have done all they can to make this transition as simple as possible, so they have taken the necessary steps & changes in order to include the VAT directly in the subscription\u2019s price. This change will normally be effective starting from the next renewal of your subscription, with the addition of the VAT in the final price (19% for Germany). And from August last year, as a small gift of appreciation to their overseas customers they will be including a 1000yen gift card to their YattaJapan.com store. As an idea of how much the charge has gone up, prior to last August I was paying \u20ac32.89 a month. The new price I pay now is \u20ac40.45 a month, which is a nice increase but I believe the value is still there within the box. Now once it arrived in Ireland, I have been charged customs through An Post. Totalling just under \u20ac9euro the first month, with this particular box being around the \u20ac10 mark on top of the \u20ac40.45 I pay each month, making this a rather expensive price hike in the end. However this is all due to inflation and the recent customs changes within the EU, whilst Nihon Box is still cramming in as much value into the box as possible from their side.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      So let\u2019s get underway with seeing just what was included in this particular Nihon Box. I will also be doing something a bit different with these reviews, as I will try to find the same products online based on UK websites and see if the value is indeed there with Nihon Box. So first up we have the \u2018Pok\u00e9mon Kids Pikachu Pika Pika\u2019 figure. This is a collection of thumb sized Pikachu figures that were released last February in celebration of Pok\u00e9mons 25th anniversary. With 12 to collect, each Nihon Box received one at random.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      The second item out of the box is this Coreful figure from The Quintessential Quintuplets, in celebration of the upcoming movie that is hitting the big screen in Japan this Summer. This figure range has five to collect, with each box receiving one of the sisters. All appear to be in their school uniforms, and I must admit they would make a lovely display if you were able to get all five together. The poses they all have, seem to portray each of their personalities, however this is still a series I have yet to delve into. These figures are also made by Taito and you would be more inclined to see them as arcade prizes in Japan, however they are still pretty decent quality.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      You can find this particular figure going for \u00a319.99 over on Dekai Anime, which is still up for January pre-order. Meaning many of us have just gotten this figure weeks before its general release in the U.K<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Our third item comes straight from My Hero Academia, with their own Fuwakororin. This is a series of small round plush keychains, with six characters to collect. The characters appear all short and deformed, making it a rather interesting character appearance for this range. The characters included in this series include Deku, Bakugo, All Might, Shoto, Ochako and Tsuyu. I wasn\u2019t able to find this particular series on any known anime merch websites that I am aware of, but would price it around the \u00a310 to \u00a312 mark.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      However I did find it on ebay for an extortionate amount! For Bakugo in particular, which was the one I received, the seller was asking for \u20ac26.89 and another \u20ac26.89 for postage! For the combined cost alone of this one small item you could just order your own Nihon Box and still have change left over!<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Our fourth item is this rather stylish Haikyu shirt, featuring Hinata and Kageyama. Now this really is a treat as it has been some time since we have had a tshirt included in the box, not forgetting also getting a figure as well! This particular shirt is black in color, featuring our two main protagonists Hinata and Kageyama with Haikyu!! written lengthways down the center. Now I can not find this particular shirt online, however I can not see it being any way under \u00a320 to buy. It seems to be of fine quality and well printed, looking forward to trying this one on.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Our fifth item is perfect for a quick snack, with this entire packet of Okoshi. A traditional puffed rice snack in Japan, with three different flavors featuring in this packet - including shiso plum, matcha and peanuts. Also this particular product was made in Kyoto, by a company that has been producing them since 1890. However once again I was unable to find these anyway online for sale, but would price it around the \u00a34 to \u00a35 mark.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Our sixth item is this authentic Daruma rice bowl, which is incredibly detailed as you can see from the images above. The inside of the bowl features a very ghibli esque Daruma, with kanji painted inside, which I believe translates to:<\/span><\/p>\n

                      \u2018Fall seven times, stand up eight.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Which is a sentence commonly associated with Daruma\u2019s, due to their designs and being a traditional symbol of the New Year. The outside of the bowl also has the same Daruma design and sentence, but in color. It really is a rather delightful edition to the ever growing collection and in fact you can also find it on Amazon for \u00a315.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shipping is also a bit pricey for those of us in Ireland, as they only offer express shipping at the moment.                       Hello everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Today we are going to do a recap of what was inside the very last SoKawaii box of 2021! The theme they ran with this month was \u2018Kawaii Under The Christmas Tree\u2019. Which certainly lived up to its name for sure. So let\u2019s begin with the usual info on just who exactly SoKawaii is.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      For those of you that don\u2019t know \u2013 So Kawaii is a company based in Japan, home of practically everything kawaii (the Japanese word for cute). They create monthly subscription boxes, jam packed with 100% licensed products from brands such as Hello Kitty, Pok\u00e9mon, Sanrio, Studio Ghibli and more. The items range from plushies to Gachapon, little figures, stationary, lifestyle, kitchenware and more. The staff at So Kawaii handpicks 5 to 7 cute & useful items exclusive to Japan, packs them up in a very decorative box and sends it straight to your doorstep each month. You can also check out their Instagram for even more info and insights into what is currently trending in Japanese arcades and stores. As well as sneak peeks into what they could be including in next month\u2019s box. They also listen to what you would like to be included in future boxes, by asking across their social media accounts.                       Our first item straight out of the box is this holiday themed Summikko Gurashi plate. Made from bamboo fiber, making it more sustainable than plastic. This plate is a lovely addition to all your meals and snacks this holiday season, as it features all of the Summikko Gurashi characters in their festive outfits. This is also a SoKawaii exclusive, so you can\u2019t even buy this item in the shops. Aren\u2019t we lucky!<\/span><\/p>\n

                      <\/p>\n

                      Next up is this pair of Pok\u00e9mon hair scrunchies, aka go-go\u2019s for all you fellow Irish folks. This item is available in 6 designs, including Pikachu and Jigglypuff. The pack will include two scrunchies of the same Pok\u00e9mon, with the elastic matching the color of the character you receive. The main design will feature the head of the Pok\u00e9mon enclosed in plastic with a number of small sparkly stars inside. It\u2019s very cute looking, but I don't see myself using these very often.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Following that we have a small Keychain Photo holder from Disney. This item is available in seven character designs, a perfect size if you wish to carry a small sentimental picture on your keys. This item looks like it came from a gachapon series, worth just a few euros but will only grow in value when you add a cherished photo to it.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Our next item comes straight from Sanrio, with this My Melody soap case. There is just something about having a bar of soap in the bathroom, that is just more comforting to see than just a bottle of hand wash. This case is pretty well thought out, with the top being in the shape of My Melody's head and the bottom dish having built in slits that are there to allow the water to run out when you put the soap back. This item is sure to add just another touch of kawaii to your bathroom.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Our second last item is one that was previously announced prior to the boxes being shipped out. In celebration of season 4 after hitting Netflix, we have a Christmas themed Retsuko plush from the hit show - Aggretsuko! This item was available in every single box and was an exclusive plushie for SoKawaii. In which we got a medium sized Retsuko plush, in a Santa inspired outfit. This plush is sure to make a reappearance every year when the festive season returns!<\/span><\/p>\n

                      And we are now onto our final item of 2021, with this Rilakkuma \u2018Pajama Party\u2019 Home Mat. Yes people you heard that right, I have received yet another mat in a subscription box! I think that now makes four in total, so fingers crossed that\u2019s the end of it for a long time. However this is quite an adorable mat, featuring our trio of San-X characters - Rilakkuma, Korilakkuma and Kiiroitori. With slip mat bobbles on the bottom, so you don\u2019t slip all over the place. This is certainly a great addition to a little girls room, or in my case - right in front of my wardrobe.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      We are now in full swing into this festive season and I am unsure as to when this particular review will be going up on the website - so either way I hope you are all in a jolly mood!<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Now before I even had the review for the November box up on the site, the December edition of Nihon Box was already on my doorstep. The staff over in the warehouse has been working flat out in order to ship this month's box off a few weeks earlier, so everyone would have it in time for Christmas. So without further ado, let\u2019s get started with the usual speel of how you can sign up for your very own Nihon Box.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Our first item this month is a Shaman King figure from Banpresto. Seeing as Shaman King has had a remake just this year from Netflix, the merch and figures have begun to appear at a steady pace. So fair play to Nihon Box for including these figures in the final box of the year. With three characters available, including main man Yoh Asakura, his brother Hao and even Yoh\u2019s fianc\u00e9e Anna Kyoyama.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Our next item is from the infamous Dragon Ball franchise, with this Shenron towel. This towel is more of a long, narrow hand towel. Although it does very much look like a cool scarf. It also resembles the color of a christmas tree, so why not include it in the December box! Also who doesn\u2019t want a towel of a mighty dragon?!<\/span><\/p>\n

                      <\/p>\n

                      Following in Dragon Balls footsteps, is one of the more recent big hits from Shonen Jump - with Jujutsu Kaisen. This dark fantasy, supernatural adventure follows a young high school student named Yuji Itadori as he joins a secret organization in order to kill a powerful curse that has possessed him. This is a series I have yet to jump into myself, so let me know in the comments below or across our social media what your opinions are on Jujutsu Kaisen. So Nihon Box has included a plush in every box this month, to celebrate the release of the first Jujutsu Kaisen film in cinemas over in Japan. With four character plushies to collect, including Yuji Itadori, Gojo Satoru, Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki. They are a handy size, perfect to put on a shelf, seem to be well stitched together and dressed. I\u2019m sure any JJK fan would be happy to own one of these.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Our next item is pretty damn well special, as it\u2019s a 3D puzzle of Tokyo Tower. Even more amazing and something I did not realize until reading the leaflet, is that when you take it out of the packaging, the building parts are arranged in a way that they spell out Tokyo in Kanji. So in fact this item is actually known as a Kanji Model kit of Tokyo Tower. However I do have to say that although it was simple enough to put together, getting it out of the packaging and trying to remove all the little plastic bits that held it together - was a bit of a nuisance. This would be no issue at all for those that have had experience with model kits like Gundam.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Moving right along, we have the return of Kirby and his Limited Edition Beauty Care range. We have had this same exact range before where we received hand cream, this time it's back with lip cream. The packaging is just adorable and would make a lovely little gift, or even just used for display. The design also celebrates five different prefectures in Japan, including Okinawa, Kyoto, Yokohama, Osaka and Hokkaido. Only one of which is available in every box.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Next up, is a nod towards the new year as we all received a Tiger Dorei Statuette, to symbolize 2022 - The year of the Tiger. Those of you that have enjoyed the Fruits Basket franchise, will be all too familiar with the Chinese Zodiac and their animal spirits. Whereas over here in the West we are more familiar with the astrology zodiac, where the time of year you are born points out your star sign. In Japan, your zodiac animal is determined by what year you are born. With it coming full circle every 12 years to begin again. This particular statuette has a small bell inside, comes with its own little pedestal and traditional looking folding screen for some decorative background art. This is a lovely piece of Japanese culture to own and one day, I would like to own the rest of the zodiac animals in the same design.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      We are almost at the end of this box, so hold on just a bit longer.                       \u2018Aki no Kizuna - The Fall Bonds\u2019<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

                      Hello everyone and welcome back to another Nihon Box review, where today I take a look at what was included in November's box. So sit back and enjoy this Autumn season themed box. But first, a quick word about Nihon Box. The Anime and Japanese culture subscription box, with details on how you can sign up for your very own subscription.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Nihon Box is a Japanese monthly subscription service that handpicks at least 6 items each month that are almost exclusive to Japan and ships them straight to your door. Their items are a mixture of Otaku Anime related merchandise and figures, as well as traditional Japanese items, from sweets to tableware. All of this is available to subscribe to monthly, just keep reading along to see just how affordable it can be.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Like SoKawaii, the more months you pay upfront the cheaper the price for individual boxes will be. <\/span>https:\/\/www.nihonbox.com\/en<\/a><\/p>\n

                      Monthly is \u20ac29.99 plus shipping costs<\/span><\/p>\n

                      3 Months is a single payment of \u20ac86.97, making each box \u20ac28.99, plus shipping costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      6 Months is a single payment of \u20ac170.94, making each box \u20ac28.49, plus shipping costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Due to the latest European VAT legislation, the overall cost after shipping has increased slightly. The folks behind Nihon Box have done all they can to make this transition as simple as possible, so they have taken the necessary steps & changes in order to include the VAT directly in the subscription\u2019s price. This change will normally be effective starting from the next renewal of your subscription, with the addition of the VAT in the final price (19% for Germany). And from August of this year, as a small gift of appreciation to their overseas customers they will be including a 1000yen gift card to their YattaJapan.com store. As an idea of how much the charge has gone up, prior to August I was paying \u20ac32.89 a month. The new price I pay now is \u20ac40.45 a month, which is a nice increase but I believe the value is still there within the box. Now once it arrived in Ireland, I have been charged customs through An Post. Totalling just under \u20ac9euro the first month, with this particular box being around the \u20ac10 mark on top of the \u20ac40.45 I pay each month, making this a rather expensive price hike in the end. However this is all due to inflation and the recent customs changes within the EU, whilst Nihon Box is still cramming in as much value into the box as possible from their side.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      So let\u2019s get started with the first item from November\u2019s box, with this beautiful \u2018Aki in Japan\u2019 furoshiki. This piece of fabric is traditionally used to wrap up your bento or a gift, which is very eco friendly due to its reusability. Personally I will be using this as a decorative piece, although I haven\u2019t decided how to as of yet. This particular furoshiki was made in collaboration with a professional craftsman in Kyoto, who has been doing this for the past fifty years. The design is based off of an Autumn scene featuring Mount Fuji in the background of a shrine.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      <\/p>\n

                      Our next item this month is for all you Inuyasha fans out there, with this Sessh\u00f3maru noodle stopper figure. This boy has a bit of weight to him, that keeps him perfectly balanced when sitting on the edge of a shelf or indeed a Cup Ramen. This series of noodle stopper figures always have such unique poses, this one is no different. It\u2019s well crafted, skillfully designed and indeed well painted. It can join my other Inuyasha noodle stopper on the shelf, which was included in September's Nihon Box from 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      <\/p>\n

                      We now move onto a slightly more recent anime franchise, with Haikyuu! This series follows a high school volleyball team as they compete in local matches, all the way up to nationals in order to repair their reputation with the assistance of a pair of talented new players. This series has a massive fanbase and Nihon Box has included it in this box with a Hug Chara Collection figure. This series of small plushies, are very cute but also useful. As within the arms will be a strong bull clip, which you can open and close by using the legs. With six characters to collect, every box will receive the main character of Sh\u00f3y\u00f3 Hinata.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      <\/p>\n

                      We now move on to yet another Shonen Jump franchise with Hunter x Hunter. This franchise first began back in 1998 but has been on hiatus since 2018, but still carries a strong fan base. Due to this, it has been included with this Figurine Fuchipito collection from Re-Ment. With six characters to collect, these small detailed figures each have their unique pose and sit on top of a wooden box. Like the Noodle Stopper series, they are also designed to sit on the edge of shelves, die to how well they are balanced.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      <\/p>\n

                      Our snack item for this month is the Kurobou Meimon. A traditional sweet and specialty of the city of Kurume, from the Fukuoka prefecture. Made from brown sugar, it carries its own unique taste that is unlike anything I have tried here in Ireland. It may not be for everyone's palette, as I didn\u2019t find myself going back very quickly to finish the second one in the package.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      <\/p>\n

                      So let\u2019s begin with the item on the left, which is a loyalty item bonus that you receive several times during the year when you have a continuous subscription. It is always a delight to see what might be included for free every quarter. This time, it was a small keychain plush from the FairyTail and Mameshiba collab, but I can not seem to find when this is from so it may be an old release. It\u2019s an interesting item no doubt and a collaboration I never would have put together, but it kind of works. It\u2019s cute, right?!<\/span><\/p>\n

                      On the right, is our new regular to every Nihon Box - a 1000 Yen gift card for their side company \u2018Yatta Japan\u2019. This time, the gift card is valid until next Summer. However at the moment, it doesn't appear to be a good time ordering from their website as the delivery option pricing is through the roof! At least for Ireland it is, no way I want to pay over \u20ac40 in shipping for items that barely come to \u20ac20. Fingers crossed they manage to sort this out in the new year, as I would prefer some economy shipping at least.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      Our last anime related item of the box is the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba item pictured above. Which is known as an Eco Kairo in Japan, otherwise known as a reusable pocket hand warmer. I have not seen these items in years, not since I was in school. There is a gel inside that heats up as soon as a metal tab inside is broken, it just causes a chain reaction. In order to reuse it again, you just place it inside a kitchen cloth and then in boiling water. Within five minutes it will have returned to its original state, ready to be used again. Perfect for the current cold season. This is available in 10 character designs, all with their own unique backgrounds. Also in time for the latest season of Demon Slayer, which has just started airing over on Funimation And Crunchyroll.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      <\/p>\n

                      And now onto our final item this month, with these Ukiyo-e coasters. This is a set of four coasters, traditionally made with washi paper. They feature images from four of the most famous Ukiyo-e paintings, including Kabuki (by Kunisada Utagawa), Meisho Hakkei (by Toyokuni Utagawa), Aka Fuji (by Hokusai Katsushika) and Two Women ( by Kitagawa Utamaro). All made by a company that has been specializing in washi paper for over 90 years. It is a shame however that neither the name of the company or any links to their work is never listed in the brochure. Hopefully they can add this information for future boxes.<\/span><\/p>\n

                      So there we have it everyone, that was November\u2019s Nihon Box. Did you like it? This month\u2019s topic was about Momijigari, the hunt for Autumn. Where people go out of their way, to forests, mountains and even different prefectures in order to admire the changing of the leaves colors during Fall. It is also the perfect time to go out on a hike, as the Autumn brings a much needed break from the scorching Summer heat that Japan is known for. It\u2019s details such as these that make this subscription box so unique and talked about.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although he has some decent grades, he is disliked by fellow students for his otaku interests. Although he is a recluse, his only friend in the World is his classmate Y\u00fato It\u00f3 who is a bit of an oddball himself. These two boys have resigned themselves to believing they could never get a 3-D girlfriend and have instead dedicated themselves to anime. However, by pure chance one day, Tsutsui is late to class and is sentenced to pool cleaning duty. He is not alone however, as he is paired up with the beautiful but the schools most talked about girl - Iroha Igarashi. Through just this single interaction, their lives become intertwined forever as the love story behind Real Girl<\/em> begins.<\/span>\n\nOkay okay, I wasn\u2019t expecting much out of this show at the beginning but wow! It hit me right in the feels in the last couple of episodes! This high school romance had its ups and downs, its misunderstandings and surprises, it\u2019s far from your typical rom-com anime series. This show had deapt, so I can only imagine how good the source material was in the manga. Tsutsui is your classic teenage otaku, who prefers his own company and is incredibly awkward when it comes to interacting with \u2018real people\u2019. He does however have a best friend in It\u00f3, who has his own unique interests. It\u2019s no wonder these two had become social outcasts in high schools. However high school kids can be incredibly harsh, as all these characters are in and around 18 years old. It\u2019s not only the \u2018nerds\u2019 being bullied, but even the gorgeous Iroha who has been labelled as the \u2018school slut\u2019. The pairing is almost unimaginable, but it really works. Both Tsutsui and Iroha take their new found relationship very seriously and it changes them both for the better.<\/span>\n\nHowever there is always a catch, Iroha announces to Tsutsui that she only has another six months in this school before she transfers. They make the most of their time together, Tsutsui has difficulty expressing and understanding emotions so there are the odd misunderstandings. Iroha does all she can to improve Tsutsui\u2019s impression of himself and build his self confidence, which has a number of setbacks due to him not entirely believing her words at times. And like all great shows, there is just another massive plot twist near the end of the show. One that was utterly heartbreaking, yet with all that happens, the character development, actions, emotions - it was all utterly believable. I have to admit though, I did shead the odd tear or two during the finale episode!<\/span>\n\n\u2018Real Girl\u2019 (Riaru G\u00e1ru) first began as a sh\u00f3jo manga series by mangaka Mao Nanami back in 2011. Having completed with a total of 12 volumes in 2016, it has been published in English by Kodansha comics. However I have only been able to find the first six volumes in print, the entire series however is available to buy digitally.<\/span>\n\nIt wasn\u2019t until the manga series had ended for quite some time, was this 24 episode anime adaption released in 2018 from studio - Hoods Entertainment. This animation studio is still rather new having founded in 2009, but have since done a number of animes including Mysterious Girlfriend X and Drifters, under the name Hoods Drifters Studio. If that wasn\u2019t enough, there was also a live action film adaption released in 2018 under the name \u201c3D Kanojo Riaru G\u0101ru\u201d<\/span>\n\nBonus Features Include:<\/span>\n

It was a seriously good show, great character development, played out like a more serious teen drama rather than a romantic comedy. Would highly suggest this anime for fans of \u2018Golden Time\u2019 and \u2018Toradora\u2019.
