Summary:
The first issue of Crimes Against Nature is titled “Monkey Business”, and we are pulled into an interview with one of the main characters, Dr. Kermit Groedan. He begins to explain an occurrence that happened sometime in the past, where we see animals that can walk and talk and hold down jobs, such as Amigo the ape. Later on in this issue, I think readers will start to pick up on that it’s more than meets the eye when it comes to Dr. Kermit. He seems to coach animals that have an unusual advantage of having human connections.

Throughout the issue, we see the duo go to star on an episode of a late-night television show, which results in a heavy aftermath of being asked to leave once Kermit lands a punch on the show host. Different occurrences of mistakes and bad decisions are seen as Kermit continues to explain parts of his life, such as run-ins with criminals and the like.

The issue ends with a twist and a bang, and I would recommend this to adult readers who like action, fast-paced scenes and eccentricity. The artwork looks colorful and vibrant, and it’s clear and easy to follow from panel to panel. If readers like stories that include animals as main hooks or characters, this is the one to read. I am curious to see how far the duo will go, considering that violence seems to follow the two, time after time.
Overall: 9/10
