Summary:
This issue starts off in a trailer park, where a man gets a visit from another man asking if he’s found salvation in Jesus Christ. The man is revealed to be Vernon Stubbs, and the other man is revealed to be called Mike. Mike kills Vernon and travels to a hotel to take his money from an abused woman, which he uses to buy meth.
Mike travels in his Ford truck, completing odd jobs. Mike wakes up from the dose, as he meets William and his wife, Cindy. The two decide to hire him for a hit that costs four thousand dollars in payment at the end, which he agrees to. He’s taken to a warehouse where he and a group of other men and women all jump in a van and drive to East Camden, Nevada. The group are in the middle of a robbery inside this small town when something unsettling happens; the residents inside the bank seem to be unfazed by the robbery.
William and Cindy separate from the group to find a huge metal arm that wraps around the arm and hand like armour, while glowing. William puts it on and activates it, while police appear at the scene, only to escalate the danger of the robbery. The issue ends with a twist to it all.
The artwork looks dark and grimy, which fits the main character, Mike. I’m interested to see where this story goes, as I could not predict where the story was leading me at the end. I think this series is better suited for mature readers, as it has a few elements here and there that will make more sense to those readers. The dialogue is tight, not too sparse and not too detailed.
