Thematically Watch Dogs is based around the effects of technology in this future dystopian world of London. Ubisoft has done a stunning job in recreating London. The level of detail and attention to detail makes it feel like London. I was instantly impressed by the environment and the sheer amount of madness in this game.

"watchdogslegion_1"

Watch Dogs is primarily a sand-boxed game where you can approach missions in a few ways: hacking, all-out attack and stealth. Hacking is the core element of this game that differentiates it to its peers. Hacking takes two forms: stealthy or offensive. Hacking in stealth mode allows you to complete missions with minimal casualties. Hacking allows for chaotic mayhem and destruction as you use your drones and turrets against enemies. You can take the approach of just going out all guns blazing and dispatching enemies. You can play in a hitman way and take out enemies in a stealthy way. How you play is your choice, I found a mix of elements to be the most fun. The hacking of drones and cars is where the game shines. It's lots of fun. As with any Watch Dogs, you can take control of a whole host of vehicles and enjoy the stunning views of London.

One twist with the games is the ability to recruit almost any character you encounter in the world to fight for your cause. These recruits become playable characters. Each character has their strengths and weaknesses and unique abilities. You can enable permadeath which means as your characters die, they can't respawn. If all your characters die, the game is over when permadeath is enabled. This feature adds another element to the solid gameplay, a real sense of tension and suspense.

"watchdogslegion_2"

The gameplay is familiar to any GTA, drive, kill and finish the story. The gameplay is easy to pick up. The hacking elements can be tricky at times when doing it through the lens of a security camera. The voice acting and your sidekick Bagley add a voice of reason to the whole story. The main missions are well structured, dystopian excels through the storytelling of the gameplay. There is enough variety in gameplay to keep you occupied for hours on end. If you finish the game, there are tons of side quests, recruiting opportunities and mini-games like football and darts.

"watchdogslegion_3"

There will be online and co-op, it's pencilled in for December.

Legion is lots of fun. You can spend hours just wondering around the city and taking in the sights. Gameplay and in particular, the hacking mechanisms and the use of drones add a whole another layer to the gameplay. It's fun to hijack a drone and take out the Albion henchmen. Car mechanics are decent. It treads the line between a simulator and arcade racing, it's decent but not the highlight of the game. In conclusion, it's worth picking up and will have you coming back for more.

Overall: 8/10

Cloudpunk is the journey of the newbie driver, Rania, who has fled her home-world to become a delivery driver in Navalis to make ends meet. The game centres on Rania's first night delivering packages for Cloudpunk, an illicit delivery company. Game mechanics involve driving through a dystopian pixelated world and hand-delivering packages in either first person or 3rd person. While the mechanics and game-play are straightforward and easy to get to grips, it mainly serves as a way to deliver the heavily driven narrative story of Navalis and the ills of this world.

The neon-noir pixelated world of Navalis is visually stunning. The mixture of neon-bright skyscapes mixed with darkness brings the bleakness of the world to life. Pixelated blocky rendering adds to the city and doesn't detract from the game. Different parts of the city have different density of people, cars and buildings which makes each part of the city worthy of a visit. The main storyline will guide you through the many parts of the city.

"cloudpunk_1"

This game is driven heavily by the interactions of "Control" (the voice of Cloudpunk) and Rania. However, as you complete more missions and interact with people, you begin to scratch away at the surface of Navalis and find out more about this place. The missions make Rania choose between keeping the status quo in the city or challenging the powerful and rich. Rania's AI companion Camus acts as a sounding board, large parts of the game involve monologues where we uncover more about Rania and the isolation she feels. The game excels in the narrative aspects, the storyline and creating the world and people of Navalis. There are a few drawbacks, the use of character animation as opposed to static pictures would have brought the characters to life when they are conversing.

I was playing the game on the Xbox and found the load times frustratingly slow. When the maps did load, I found your car unresponsive and then frame rates would severely drop too. Elements of the map and markers weren't particularly clear especially at the start of the game. These were all minor annoyances in an otherwise very enjoyable game.

"cloudpunk_2"

Cloundpunk is an interesting mix of narrative-driven game-play with superb visuals that embrace the neon-noir style. Thematically the game looks at poverty, isolation, greed and class which it underpins the majority of missions. The interaction between Control and Rania drives the narrative and is further enhanced by missions. Certain missions will require the player to make judgement calls on what the best approach is. The game is about 9 hours long. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, the mechanics and how it played. The load times and framerate issues were a minor issue in the grand scheme of things.

You play as a flamed headed character as you navigate through every murkier chapter of Purgatory.

"westofdead1"

The dark cartoony world and art style make this game visually stunning, every aspect of the characters, enemies, and environment detail fit perfectly well into the world of West of Dead. This is all complemented with the voice acting skills of Ron Perlman who helps to bring your character to life. The wild west theme, music, and artifacts further enhance the level of immersion transporting you to this hellish world. Sound effects evoke the wild west. The animations are impressive and the character design is superb. The clever use of lighting sources serve as game mechanics and also a way of making your journey more treacherous.

"westofdead2"

The game mechanics centre around a procedurally generated roguelike shooter that uses a cover system. If you expect to casually pick up this game and navigate this world with ease you will be surprised, a fundamental understanding of the cover mechanics, dodge, and twin-stick shooting controls are needed. There is a fairly steep learning curve to progress any sort of distance within each chapter. It can be frustrating at the start but as you learn more the game becomes more enjoyable. The cover mechanism, dodging, and shooting are all super responsive and you feel in total control which is required as this game is unforgiving if you make mistakes. It's all about strategy and how you will approach to clear out a section of enemies. The gameplay is varied enough to keep you interested and coming back for more pain. A decent variety of enemies will keep you on your toes and will engage your brain.

"westofdead3"
West of Dead picks the wild west theme in purgatory and excels at bringing it to life. PES has come a long way since its inception back in 1995. It's the iconic brand of the football game that has spanned a two-decade rivalry with FIFA.

This year we have eFootball PES 2021 Season Update which is a reduced-priced version of the game. It does what it says in the title, it's a season update and not an entirely updated version. The new improved overhaul of PES is pencilled in for 2021. This year's version of PES is almost identical to eFootball PES 2020 with updated players, a few additions to the master leagues, and some minor gameplay improvements.

"PES2021_1"

FIFA and PES suffer from an annual release syndrome, where minor changes are applied from the previous edition but the game is priced at full whack. In theory, you could be paying for a full-priced game just for updated teams and rosters. It's been mooted for a long time that an update that has no major changes shouldn't be a full-price game. This year's PES is that, the updated rooster and some minor changes but at a reduced price. The makers are fairly clear about this in the title of the game.

Gameplay changes centre around better close control and more attentive feedback with players. You seem to better ball control which in turn leads to better player control. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a huge thing but these minor changes do give an extra sense of realism to the game. Game fluidity is improved. This is welcomed and is duly noted. Apart from the updated team rosters and additional managers, it's the same as eFootball PES 2020.

"PES2021_2"

There is one point that should have been addressed is some AI. Issues around AI occur when a ball is deflected and the AI just ceases to exist. This leads to comical moments in the game where players stay stationary as a ball slowly rolls by them. It would have been nice if this bug was addressed as it's the most obvious issue with the gameplay mechanics. The clunky menus from the late 90s persist too.

The PES franchise is the best football game out there and eFootball PES 2021 Season Update brings some minor improvements. The question is whether eFootball PES 2021 Season Update is worth buying if you have eFootball PES 2020 and this is the tough question. I'm a big fan of football games and will get my money's worth. The reduced price would be a huge incentive and will entice owners of eFootball PES 2020.

"PES2021_3"

If you haven't played or don't own eFootball PES 2020, you should buy eFootball PES 2021 Season Update it's unbelievable value. I can understand the reluctance of owners to pay for a seasonal update of a game but we have been doing this for years for the cost of the full price game. There is a mix of story updates, free-roaming mode, and 4k visuals. This update of Mafia has been built from scratch as opposed to just being a 4K update which Mafia II and Mafia III have been given in their latest incarnation. The updates for Mafia include plots and aspects of gameplay. Mafia is a heavily narrative-driven crime mob story.

Lost Haven, the world you navigate is set in America during the 1930s. Prohibition is in full swing and the mobsters rule their city with an iron fist. The world is detailed and meticulously created, the guns, the cars, the people, the clothes and the language is all of that 1930s era. It looks stunning in 4K, detailed environment, textures, and the lighting is stunning. The game designers have excelled at making the game look fantastic. This is a massive upgrade from the initial Mafia game. The world is huge and immersive. The character textures and detailed facial composition is impressive.

"mafia_de1"

You will play as Tommy Angelo who is a cab driver who ends up being caught up in the mob world. It follows his life in the world of the mob, it is a narrative-driven cinematic story, the gameplay centres around predefined missions where you uncover more about the mob and Tommy's life. This part of Mafia is linear despite being in a massive open world, the mission led stories are intertwined in the overall story. The game emphasizes storytelling and gameplay together. The player becomes invested in the characters as you progress through each mission. I was drawn in by the story, there are twists and turns with lots of intrigues too.

"mafia_de4"

It's easy to think of Mafia as a mob film mixed with GTA style gameplay. There is an emphasis on driving as you are a cab driver but this mixed in with a third-person shooter/adventurer. If you played any GTA game, the mechanics are akin to it, drive a car around, get out, and complete missions. The interesting aspect of the driving aspects is that cars handle like cars without power steering. This mimics the cars of that era. Ancient cars are what you will experience and it's a throwback to 1930s America, this is captured and plays well. The third-person gameplay incorporates a cover system that underpins the gameplay style. Similarly, the guns are of the 1930s with handguns, shotguns, and Tommy guns. The gameplay mechanics are smooth, responsive, and easy to pick up. There isn't much of a learning curve which means you will be thrown into missions instantly.

"mafia_de2"

While, the graphics, textures and the draw distance is on point. I found the load times to be frustrating, I'm not sure if this is due to the level detail of maps and how the game loads them. It is quite noticeable from early on and is the only real gripe I had. I found the load times stifling and breaks your rhythm too. Reloading the last checkpoint, new missions, and the open mode ( "Free ride" mode) of the game are impacted. The story mode of the game may be a little short too, it took me about 4 days of extended play to get through it however there is an open mode available once you complete the first mission which allows you to navigate the world.

"mafia_de3"

In totality, I found myself quickly hooked to the story mode, and the up to date graphics made everything seem more lifelike. The world is immersive and the gameplay is so easy to pick and play. I mean you will be completing your first mission within minutes. Simply game mechanics and less fuss is a huge bonus. The storytelling, cinematics, soundtracks, and voiceovers give this an authentic film feel. You feel a part of the mob world and invested in your character. While the open world allows you to wander and find missions and tasks to do, I loved the story-based missions the most. The addition of the "Free Ride" open mode gives some extra longevity to the game.

The Mafia trilogy which includes Mafia: Definitive Edition, Mafia II: Definitive Edition (4K update) and Mafia III: Definitive Edition (4K update) is €59.99 but the Mafia: Definitive Edition standalone edition is €39.99.

Overall: 8.5/10

Developer: Vicarious Visions

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One (Reviewed)

Genre: Sports, Skateboard

Publisher: Activision

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater at one was the most anticipated game from Activision back in the late '90s and the early '00s. I was a huge fan back then so I was looking to see what the modern update would be like and whether it would hit the legendary status of the original. Tony Hawk emulated the physics of skating, the skate parks, and characters and their signature moves. They combined all these and a hugely competitive side to Tony Hawk and allow you to chain ridiculous (but satisfying combos). Tony Hawk was the de facto standard of skating games and the bench for all competitors.

"THPS1+2_1"

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 is a faithful update of the original games with some added features too. The most obvious update is the graphics, the levels, and character design has been meticulously brought to modern generation consoles. Levels, textures, and environments are fantastically vivid and vibrant with no draw distance. The original maps from games 1 and 2 and their layouts are as per the original games. Straightaway, there is a newness about the game, it's bright and just more polished granted it has been 20 years. This is the most obvious and drastic update on the current version of Tony Hawk. It's all super slick from a visual perspective. The main skating mechanics are just like the original if anything the controls are a bit smoother, it's combined elements from other moves from other Tony Hawk's games. Overall, the gameplay is fluid and you have a real sense of control which allows some amazing stunt chains. Sound effects and control mechanics go hand in hand and you feel the skate trucks grinding against edges and the slap when you hit the ground.

"THPS1+2_2"

Like with all Tony Hawk games, customisation is a huge aspect from skater and to creating skate parks. The create a skater option has a wide variety of face choices, swag, and clothing to choose from if you love the whole create a skater option or you can pick your favourite skater.

Other modes include skate park builder mode where you can create and share your custom skate parks. The tools in the builder are intuitive and will lead to some crazy and fun skate parks, you are unable to set goals or any particular tasks in the skater mode which is lacking.

"THPS1+2_3"

There is local split-screen play and multiplayer too. Local split-screen is a cool local play option that is welcomed to see. Multiplayer in online mode allows you to play a graffiti mode, horse, tag, score challenge, combo, and challenge. Online play can be competitive or not whichever tickles your fancy.

The game is awesome but so was the original, the minor tweaks to control have made the game feel more responsive. Updated versions of the course bring the levels to life. This game felt like a reboot was needed and they have timed it right. The gameplay is superb and has always been - the strongest point of Tony Hawk. The 2-minute rounds create a sense of urgency and will have you playing the levels again and again. The time limit in the rounds also gives a sense of challenge. It's one of the few games that there is tons of replay value in the game. This is mainly due to the ability to chain tricks amazingly. Tony Hawk update is a success and is a must-own.

Overall: 9/10

Developer: Sumo Digital Ltd, Lucky Mountain G

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, Xbox One (Reviewed)

Genre: Action, Indie, Racing

Publisher: Curve Digital

Hotshot Racing is a throwback to a genre of racing games in the 90s (Virtua Racing, Ridge Racer, and Daytona USA) when the low-polygon visual style dominated games. The underlying retro style sets the entire tone for the game. I love the retro style, the bright colours, and the arcade-style racing game that doesn't take itself too seriously.

The game is an arcade-style drift racer, it's high paced, bright, and full of action. It's the opposite of the super-realistic games that have been at the fore lately. It has 16 tracks across 4 different environments which are fairly short and concise. There is an arcade mode, time trial, Grand Prix, cops & robbers, and drive or explode mode.

"hotshotracing1"

Hotshot Racing reminds me of a mix of Virtua Racing and Daytona USA but upgraded for the current generation of PC and consoles. The game still relies on simple card models, character models, and level models. They all have a current generation of polish to them which brings them to life. The gameplay is super simple, there is an emphasis on steering, drifting, and accelerating. On your first play, it will take you a minute or so to get used to controls if not less. There is no need to have a definitive racing line that you must take, you are left to own your devices and devise your strategy. The addition of the car boost adds to the arcade / coin-op feel.

The arcade, Grand Prix, and single race modes pit you against 7 other competitors and the winner takes all. In the case of Grand Prix mode, the driver with the most points over 4 games is the winner. These are the standard racing modes but Hotshot has two other fantastic modes - Drive or Explode and Cops & Robbers. These modes turn this arcade racer into a party game. In Cops & Robbers, you have to catch and destroy the other cars, the drive or explode mode requires you to stay above a certain speed or lose (think of the film Speed). These game modes with their chaotic nature are amazing breaks from arcade racing and will breed longevity into the game. I would have liked to see more game modes and more tracks but I think the game proposition is more than worth it without the additional game modes and tracks.

"hotshotracing2"

The Hotshot Racing contains a Boombastic and loud ass soundtrack that is loud and vibrant. It adds to the whole driving and racing experience. It plays homage to Ridge Racer and other arcade racers back in the 90s too. The speed of soundtrack and track changes as you progress through each race, the closer you get to complete the level, the more intense it gets building to a crescendo. The soundtrack is really well thought out and fits the game perfectly.

"hotshotracing3"

Hotshot Racing also has the ability of 8 players online and co-op play too. One fantastic feature that many games miss is the ability to play multiplayer locally, Hotshot Racing allows for up to 4 players to play locally or in co-op mode. The Switch allows for LAN play too. These features add another level of fun to a super enjoyable game. The ability to both play online and locally adds to the party mode and game experience too.

"hotshotracing4"

Hotshot Racing does a fantastic job of re-creating and improving the arcade racer. Its visuals are superb and the colours hit all the right notes. The characters, voice-overs, and general sound complement the game and make it more immersive. The addition of party games is a brilliant idea and executed superbly. The addition of more tracks and more party games is the only issue I have. The gameplay is fantastic and so easy to pick up and play. Ultimately the sense of speed and the combination of the soundtrack make this an impactful driving game.

Overall: 8.5/10

Developer: EA Vancouver

Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One (Reviewed)

Genre: Fighting, sports

Publisher: EA Sports

UFC 4 is the latest iteration of the UFC game series from EA. This game follows firmly in the footsteps of the predecessors, this latest version is about improvements and updates as opposed to an overhaul of the series. One interesting aspect of UFC is that you are thrown into the career mode straight away which may be a bit too much into the deep end for some.

"UFC4_1"

Before you can settle in and get used to the game, you are fighting your first foe, the career mode is underpinned by you being and upcoming fighter spotted by coach Davis. The first few fights of the game can be considered a tutorial, you get used to the core concepts of the game standing game (boxing and Muay Thai), ground game (BJJ), and wrestling. In the lead up to every fight, you have a period of weeks (in-game time) to train, promote, and invite other fighters to your gym to learn new moves. As you train, you can level up whichever aspect of fighting you want to excel at, using moves while playing will increase their effectiveness too. The career mode follows the same steps to pick a fight, post to social media, train, and improve your fighter. You can customise the entire look of the character and build it in your mould. In career mode, it is fairly formulaic however you get to build the style of your fighter.

"UFC4_2"

I always found the stand-up game superb in UFC, boxing and kickboxing have always been my go-to and it was the same this time too. The mechanisms in boxing, the movement, and gameplay whilst standing are slick. The actual feel of fighting is exciting and enjoyable, it does that factor that makes it feel immersive. This is complemented by the sound and the graphics. I enjoyed the clinch scenarios and Muay Thai too. I have an issue with the ground game, wrestling, BJJ, and transitioning. The controls are clunky and it's difficult to get feedback as to how to control your opponent and block their movements too. I think this part of the game needs more tweaking and was my least favourite. The mini-games for submission are novel and also give the player an advantage for being methodical will submitting.

"UFC4_3"

UFC 4 probably suffers from a lack of competition in this space of fighting games. UFC4 is minor tweaks and improvements from UFC 3, it's not groundbreaking. Despite this and the clunky mechanisms for the ground game, UFC 4 is lots of fun, integrates a huge roster of players, several styles of fighting in a well-made game that has all the usual EA polish. If you need a UFC or a fighting fix, this is lots of fun and worth getting.

Overall: 8/10

Developer: Owlcat Games

Platforms: PlayStation 4 (Reviewed), Xbox One

Genre: RPG

Publisher: Deep Silver

The Pathfinder main story: Kingmaker will take us through the Stolen Lands. Throughout the adventure, we'll see plenty of well know Pathfinder characters (of course that is only for those who already know Pathfinder’s tabletop RPG game) and locations, with a dozen companions to get acquainted and equipped. It will delight fans of classic PC RPGs. In Pathfinder: Kingmaker there are moments of humor, political intrigue and warring factions, all of this is pretty much expected from this kind of RPG/Fantasy. In Pathfinder each companion will have his/her personality and moral compass, our actions, questions and answers that we give can cause friction with them and make your companion to even leave the group.

As the main story campaign begins you will need to deal with a group of bandits who have been terrorizing the inhabitants of a region known as Stolen Lands, but first you will be able to interact with countless characters to get to know their personalities, alignments and objectives in order to count on their help in the future (or not). The first quest, which at first glance seems quite simple, can take players, even in the first hours of the game, to encounters with enemies that regardless of how well familiar you are with this type of game, will result in the death of your group.

The game has a lot of different options for difficulty (Including custom), but they are all so well detailed so choose wisely. The game mechanics are simple… but there are a lot of them, so take your time to get used to it, for that the game’s tutorial is very complete and extremely detailed so you shouldn’t have any problem.

"PFWOTR_6"

The character creation was the real challenge for me, and I consider myself an expert on the RPG area, there are (like I said before) way to many options to unlock some skills… and you have to understand exactly how it works to get where you were planning to… according with my research is pretty much the same as the tabletop version of the game but for a first-time player it can be very very very confusing… So, my tip is to be patient and read everything as many times as you need to get it right.

The dialogues take a huge part to this game, which was a big success to me and here is why, during the dialogues, you will notice that some words are bolded in green, these words have their full explanation if you press the glossary button, that is pretty handy for who isn’t familiar with the Pathfinder’s lore. If you give proper attention to the dialogues you will easily have a better game experience. You will also notice that because we don’t have a proper dungeon master to describe things, the game shows the written description of what that person is doing or how they are reacting in details for you, and I must say, they nailed it!

The camping works to heal/recover spells from your characters and rest, each one of your characters can have a job to do during it, like; hunting, camp camouflage, cooking, guarding and special roles. Pay attention to the camp protection because it can be attacked during the night (camping inside a dungeon or on any dangerous area will increase that matter). Using the camp saves the game and it doesn’t run out of times that you can use.

"PFWOTR_4"

Level up is pretty standard… although there can be so many options that a first-time player can get very confused, to be honest, I believe that even an experienced player still finds it confusing. Is interesting to know that you can mix classes if you want when you level up, all you need is to follow the requirements and you are gold.

The map is where you spend a big part of your time, there you will have the paths to go through and the cities you can visit when you get enough information of a place that you have to go, that place will automatically appear so you can make you way there. When inside a city or an ordinary area, pay attention to the skills check, because as a true RPG this game asks for specific skills to do some specific actions.

The game’s quests require you to explore the map by following the clues that were given to you… but that is a lot of times very confusing and not at all clear… what you can do to make it “easier” is to pay very close attention to the names of places that the npc gives you when the quest is accepted.

"PFWOTR_2"

Well… once you finish the Stag lord’s quest you become the new baron… and then the game turns into another one completely, I personally didn’t like it so much because it doesn’t go so well with the vibe the early game gives you (a pool of radiance feeling), but if you are into managing stuff, in this case, a “kingdom” you will definitely have a good time, it just requires you taking plenty of time reading and making a decision, which is pretty much what someone sitting in a throne have to do, you will have plenty of action during the quest but you will have to keep your full mind on your kingdom to keep everyone happy. One of the difficulty’s options before you start the game has the option of you not having to deal with these things, which for me would have been better, but since I was writing this review, I preferred a full game experience.

The battles are awesome! And you have the feeling of total control! The game has an automatic dice rolling system that works really well (when you are lucky enough). The combat is turn-based, so you have plenty of time to get your strategy built, something important is to always keep your eye on the combat log which has all the information in details of what happened in battle, it is located on the right bottom corner of the screen. You can also during battle access the menu to change your items, just press R2, also pay attention to the game’s tips about some specific foes, because some of them only die with a specific element or magic. Each turn you can do two actions among a few options like; attack, walk, use a spell and a few others.

Voice Acting- The voice acting in this game is very well made, unfortunately, it’s not all the time, only a few characters have the voice acting in some specific situations.

Sounds- The game sound are well put, like the sound of a pencil writing when you gain XP or something is added to your character.

The game artwork is beautiful and carefully done.

The game graphics are a bit “old” for that matter (looks like Warcraft III) but they don’t get on your way of a good emersion, you will be delighted with them clime changes such as; Raining, fog, sunny, pitch dark night and etc. A nice detail is when you finish fighting an ambush (Which you can choose to avoid) there is an animation of a meeple falling, that helps a lot on the emersion of the game that feeling that you are playing some boardgame.

"PFWOTR_5"

My version had the 6 following DLCs

Varnhold’s Lot - Just as you were claiming your first title, another hero from the Stolen Lands also became a baron: Maegar Varn, captain of the mercenary band of Varnling ruler of Varnhold. In this DLC, you join Varn as your general and experience first-hand the value of Varnhold's story. Playing a completely new story, parallel to the main story, players are important to the results of this adventure into the main story, facing the consequences of their choices as they advance with the main group and the story.

Beneath The Stolen Lands - Brave adventurers meet with the self-proclaimed protector of Golarion and discover what secrets are buried under the Stolen Lands, in an ever-changing maze of madness, where nothing is what it seems and to defend the lands against one of the deadliest enemies the world has ever seen. Enter the dungeon as your main character. You can also wait for an invitation from a mysterious protector of Golarion as you go through the main story. The default version of the dungeon is included in the main campaign, allowing you to use your character and companions to conquer the dark depths.

The Wildcards - The intrepid explorers of the Stolen Lands can discover a new playable race the Tieflings, enjoy the power of a new playable kinetic class, the Tiefling Kineticist his own rich and engaging story.

Bloody Mess - The name says it all - adding more blood to the game as an additional option.

Arcane Unleashed - DLC adding more spells to the game.

Royal Ascension - Includes soundtrack, Digital Artbook, two character card in the game, board game module, hi-rez map and a red panda.

"PFWOTR_3"

Tips

- Variety of characters classes are vital for the game so keep that in mind.

- Keep in mind that your abilities like mobility, athletics, knowledge, etc are summed to solve stuff.

- If you pass a part of the dialogue by accident you can easily scroll the dialogue box up to see what you missed, that’s very useful to make hard decisions… believe me.

- There is an early quest that you will have nightmares, my council is to solve that asap because your main character will get very tired for not sleeping well… you can sleep on the trading post (in a bed) to get your energies back up, but camping? Nope… you will be tormented by these nightmares…

- Some items are “made” to be sold to a specific person, so read the item description before selling (some of them even add to the game’s lore is sold to the right person, others can just give you way more money).

First of all, and most important before you buy Pathfinder, you must like reading.

On this new version of the game, the battles have the option of using a turn-based mode, which gives the game a more of a “tabletop” kind of look and let’s be honest… more RPG like, also allow you to see the attacks/animation better. The “first part” of the game makes you feel like you are playing a true RPG.

We don’t have a dungeon master so they did their best so we can miss it, and kudos to them! Well done!

"PFKM_1"

As I said before this version of the game comes with 6 DLCs of the game, so be a bit careful when choosing between the “main story” and the DLCs… it can be very frustrating discover that you pick the “wrong” option to start the game… I mean… it still works just fine… But is better to get how the game works beforehand.

For those not familiarized with D&D RPGs, in general, don’t worry, the game gives you a complete explanation for everything… Just be ready to read a lot, but if you are familiar with the genre you will be able to deduce some things.

The game gives you XP for actions that goes with what you choose for your characters (again, like a true RPG).

The answers are really important and they are fare! Not like some options on Witcher 3 for example, where you answer someone with a “no I don’t agree” and Gerald ends up killing that person…

Every dungeon you “clean” remains clean afterwards, also the traps that were trigged will stay there as well for a very long time.

To get a better view of what is happening on the battlefield, the camera could spin to see different angles of it.

“Bad times and good times”;

Pros

-Your abilities unlock different options on the dialogues.

-Your group formation whilst walking is important, the game already gives you some options, but my tip is to do your own formation.

Cons

-There are (at least on the early game) very few options of weapons and armour… that can be something really disappointing for some player…

- When you are selling items to a merchant you can select several items to sell all at once… what you can do (but even though is very confusing to learn how to use) is use the bulk selling which as far as I understood is an automatic selling of some items, a tip that I give you is to not sell the books… they can be useful for a future quest… so careful with what you are selling.

- [BUG] On the character build the voices can have a bug, and just stop showing how they sound like.

Overall: 6.5 /10

;

As part of the new PS5, the User Interface and navigation has received an update too, there are still of the similar Sony menu structures and tabs. However, the main log is more a stripped-back tiled affair with an emphasis on sharing and progress in the game via pop up-cards. Pop-up cards give updates on game progression and trophy progression The primary noticeable feature of the interface is responsiveness to the user interface and better integration into the PS store. There is a noticeable difference between the PS4 and PS5 UI, it's a case of night and day. It's clean, slick and a huge leap forward from the last one.

"PS5_8"

PS5 comes with a superfast 825GB hard-drive with only 667GB of usable space, any game loaded on the main SSD will run lightning quick. There is an expansion port to extend the capacity of the PS5. You will have to manage what you store on the internal drive or your expanded drive. The trade-off is speed versus capacity is worth it, I'd prefer less space with enhanced performance. Reduced load times are underrated.

"PS5_9"

The PS5 has been mooted to have more than 99% backward compatibility with the PS4 library. I tried the physical copy of Bloodborne and Ghosts of Tsushima digital download to test it. Starting with Bloodborne I installed the game from the disc drive, in terms of gameplay it plays exactly like the PS4 copy. I did notice the game did load quicker than PS4 version and load between sections wasn't as noticeable, however, the game isn't optimised for PS5 but the experience is fluid and solid. Ghosts was a digital download from the library and the comparison between both systems was similar in-game boot and load times, the developers did a fantastic job to optimise Ghosts for PS4. Gameplay and visuals are superb and I can't complain one bit with the backward compatibility. With access to all the previous content in my PS4 library, it's super easy to download and play your favourites again.

"PS5_11"

Over the last few days, I have been doing a lot of content from my library and new games, I have noticed a drastic improvement on network speeds via WIFI. The WIFI performance is quick and updates (console and games) have been seamless and rapid.

This is all complemented with the voice acting skills of Ron Perlman who helps to bring your character to life. The wild west theme, music, and artifacts further enhance the level of immersion transporting you to this hellish world. Sound effects evoke the wild west. The animations are impressive and the character design is superb.

“Bad times and good times”;

Overall: 6.5 /10

;

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition (€79.99) contains two games: Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (€59.99 on its own) and Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered.

Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is an updated version of the original classic with beefed up graphics and the addition of a performance mode which manages 60fps (dynamic 4K) frame rate. There are vast improvements in the texture and rendering of the environments. Everything is more realistic and the attention to detail is to behold: the weather, lighting, and the people in this world. It feels like a real-life city with improved graphics. Ray-tracing (30fps) reflections are evident as you move through the urban sprawl of Manhattan. Character animation is even more lifelike, and this extra lick of paint adds another glossy layer to this stunning game. The character was remodelled for the game to have improved resolution. These performance updates also apply to the new Miles Morales story. If you haven't played the original game on the PS4, this is a worthy addition to any players library. The city of New York is the environment for this Peter Parker inspired version of the game. This is the vibrant imagining of New York is also the setting of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

"MSM_MilesMorales_PS5_1"

Miles is the central character (Miles Morales story), the story follows his trials and tribulations as being the new Spider-Man on the block. This revisiting of the original Spider-Man (thematically) as he comes to term with his powers and his place in the world. The themes of family, discovery, maturing, and the lack of black-white scenarios are ubiquitous in this game. Just like the original Spider-Man game, you have a deep and rich story arc with many characters playing into the narrative of the world. The original Spider-Man excelled at storytelling - it made the game feel like a playable interactive movie. a while. I am unfamiliar with Miles as a character from the comics. Miles is duty-bound by honour and loyalty to his family as he tries to come to terms with his powers.

"MSM_MilesMorales_PS5_2"

There are two factions in this world that Spider-Man must get to grips with - the Underground and the Roxxon corporation. The Underground are a terrorist group with aspirations of taking over New York, whereas Roxxon is the security firm of New York. In between the two factions, we will see a host of other characters like Rhino. The game is centred around a web of connections, stories and links between Spider-Man and his world. Gameplay in the story mode is linear but there are plenty of side missions and collectables in the world. The levelling up system allows you to adapt your style of play to how you want your character to be. The gameplay is varied with the choice of all action or the meticulous stealth approach to beat the enemies.

"MSM_MilesMorales_PS5_3"

This Miles Morales story is another fantastic addition to the Spider-Man series. The immersive nature of the storytelling mixed in with playability of the game creates a living and breathing world. Before you know it, you become entangled in the characters and their story. The gameplay is superb with the addition of this fantastic story to make the game shine. The environment, animation, ray-tracing (30fps), and the 60fps (dynamic 4K) frame rate on the PS5 are breath-taking. The game is pure joy. The fighting elements are superb too, the sense of achievement as you chain together massive combos. The voice acting, directing, and production makes this a brilliant game. It's quite the introduction to our new web-slinger.

This is all complemented with the voice acting skills of Ron Perlman who helps to bring your character to life. The wild west theme, music, and artifacts further enhance the level of immersion transporting you to this hellish world. Sound effects evoke the wild west.

“Bad times and good times”;

Overall: 6.5 /10

;
