Babylon Berlin TV series, which aired in Europe in October 2017 to huge critical acclaim, is a 16-part crime drama set in the hedonistic days of 20s and 30s Weimar Germany. Directed by Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run), Babylon Berlin is the most expensive drama in European history, costing a reported $47 million and filmed over seven months in 300 locations. The New York Times has praised the show’s “lavish production” and said it “lovingly recreates the city’s 1920s streets, cafes and nightclubs.” The Financial Times called the TV show “wonderfully gripping” with The Guardian adding it has “plenty of contemporary resonance.”
Announced at New York Comic Con 2017, Babylon Berlin is part of Titan’s new Hard Case Crime comics imprint, which has seen recent graphic novel publications, Triggerman by visionary director Walter Hill (The Warriors), Peepland, by crime author Christa Faust, a new adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo – Millennium, and the highly anticipated graphic novel release of Normandy Gold in April 2018 – written by acclaimed author Megan Abbott (You Will Know Me, TV writer on HBO’s The Deuce), and bestselling crime novelist Alison Gaylin (What Remains Of Me).
