‘Wielders of the Essence’, an incremental base-building bullet heaven game developed by Lavapotion, is out Today on PC!
SKÖVDE, Sweden, November 5th, 2026 — Today, Coffee Stain Publishing and Lavapotion are thrilled to launch Wielders of the Essence, a new horde survival game that combines the best elements of incremental, bullet heaven, and base-building games into one.
Originally revealed in November 2025, Wielders of the Essence is a spin-off to hit fantasy strategy game Songs of Conquest, bringing its established world, creatures, and distinct art style to a new genre. Players take on the role of a spell-slinging frog, and venture out into procedurally generated adventure maps, fighting their way across a world that’s familiar yet its own.
Every run in Wielders of the Essence is different, but the core goal remains the same: defeat enemies, enhance your abilities, and collect resources to upgrade your base. Every new building constructed adds something new, from spells, skills, and special powers, to mighty new Wielders, enhancing later runs through a satisfying progression path.
Since its demo launch in February, Wielders of the Essence has seen a range of new features announced and implemented, including but not limited to:
- A range of new trinkets and spells, offering wider gameplay diversity
- Superpowers with powerful effects that changes how builds behave
- Twitch chat integration for upgrade suggestions
- Refined summary screens with additional stats
- Enhanced visuals and animations
“Bringing Wielders of the Essence to life over the last year has been fantastic, and we can’t wait for fans to finally get their hands on the full game and experience the world of Aerbor in a new way.” said Lord Querkius, Dungeon Master at Lavapotion. “Expanding into a new genre is always a challenge, but it’s been an incredibly rewarding journey, especially with all the positive feedback and support from our community. Now what are you waiting for? Get on out there and slay some foes! Your base won’t build itself!”
Wielders of the Essence is Steamdeck verified and available for purchase on Steam for $5.99 / €5.89. To find out more, head to the official website or join the Discord server.
