Tom Cruise’s iconic 1986 classic, flies into theatres in immersive premium formats and IMAX 2D® for the first time ever, to screen for a limited one-week engagement.
The smash hit Top Gun: Maverick will also be screening in theatres and premium formats once again as part of this limited engagementÂ
HOLLYWOOD, CA (April 21, 2026)Â Get ready to feel the need for speed all over again.
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the iconic 1986 blockbuster Top Gun, Paramount Pictures today announced that audiences nationwide will experience the film back on the big screen for a special one-week-only theatrical event beginning May 13. For the first time ever, Top Gun will be presented in cutting-edge immersive formats, delivering a fully upgraded, high-octane experience for a new generation of moviegoers and longtime fans alike. As part of this celebration, moviegoers will also have the opportunity to experience Top Gun: Maverick in theatres once again. Tickets for Top Gunand Top Gun: Maverick go on sale April 21st.

The re-release will be paired with Top Gun: Maverick—which earned over $1.5B at the worldwide box office and was the #1 movie of 2022 and highest-grossing film in Paramount Pictures’ history—creating a must-see, back-to-back theatrical event that brings together two of the most celebrated aviation films of all time.
In Top Gun: Maverick, after more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.”
