Summary:
We start off with a visit to the doctor for Yvonne’s pregnancy. Yvonne is Toxie’s girlfriend, and they have a baby on the way, but with a caveat: they want to make sure that the baby is healthy, considering that Toxie is a mutant. The scene switches over to a craft convention, after the choice is made between the two.

The artwork shows the grotesque look and feel of Tromaville, as the captions are designed in slime and dribble off the page, which I think is a great way to introduce Toxie’s voice and perspective for readers who aren’t as familiar with the Toxic Avenger. The artwork doubles down on this and enhances the dialogue and the captions by being grotesque and using gross-out humor to tie all of these elements together; characters such as Blobby return for this issue. The issue also features newer characters, such as the appearance of what might be Toxie’s dad, and the issue ends on a climax that will make current readers of the series want to pick up the next issue.

“Meat” by Carol Lay is a short story that is also featured in this issue, as well as “Rich” by Carol Lay and “The Ritual” by Margaret Beeler.
A good start to another Toxie issue outside of the regular series. I would recommend this book for people who love gross-out humor and underlying messages about consumerism and other topics within the eccentric world of Tromaville.
Overall: 9/10
