SOUNDPEATS Air6 HS Review

SOUNDPEATS Air6 HS is an affordable pair of true wireless earbuds that aims to deliver high-resolution audio, with a comfortable design, reliable battery life, and clear call quality all at an affordable price of €34,94, featuring Hi-Res Audio, LDAC support, a 13mm triple-magnet dynamic driver, Bluetooth 6.0, Spatial Audio, SOUNDPEATS App and AI-powered call noise reduction. A huge thank you to SOUNDPEATS for kindly sending these out for review.

Air6 HS arrives in a clean, professional package that highlights its key features and specifications. Inside the box, you get the SOUNDPEATS Air6 HS earbuds and charging case. USB Type-C charging cable and the User manual. The packaging is simple and practical, providing everything needed to start using the earbuds immediately.

The SOUNDPEATS Air6 HS features a lightweight semi-in-ear design that is inspired by modern open-fit earbuds. Each earbud weighs only 4 grams, making it extremely comfortable for extended use. The earbuds are designed using data from over 10000 ear profiles to achieve a more universal fit.

The earbuds and the charging case are constructed primarily from durable plastic with a glossy finish. While the glossy coat gives the earbuds a more premium-like finish, it does leave fingerprints over time.

The charging case is also lightweight, and it weighs around 43 grams, with the earbuds inside. The earbuds also feature an IPX5 water-resistance rating, protecting against sweat and light rain during workouts and daily use.

The SOUNDPEATS Air6 HS is equipped with a 13mm triple-magnet dynamic driver with a PU biological diaphragm, alongside LDAC support and Hi-Res Audio certification. Together, these features deliver impressive sound quality, especially considering the affordable price point. Audio comes through crisp and clear, with plenty of detail across music, podcasts, and videos.

One of the standout features is Spatial Audio, which creates a wider, more immersive soundstage. Whether you’re watching films or listening to your favourite playlists, it adds an extra sense of depth that enhances the overall experience.

Overall, the Air6 HS produces a warm, balanced sound signature with excellent clarity and detail, making it one of the strongest performers in the budget semi-in-ear category.

The earbuds also feature a dual-microphone system with AI-powered Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC). During calls, the microphones do a great job of reducing background noise while keeping voices clear and easy to understand.
In quieter environments, voice quality is excellent. Even in busier locations such as cafés, offices, or on public transport, the AI noise reduction effectively isolates your voice from surrounding noise. For everyday calls, online meetings, and voice chats, the microphone performance is impressive for earbuds at this price.

The earbuds are compatible with the SOUNDPEATS App, which, like the company’s previous earbuds, offers a wide range of customisation options. You can tailor the sound to your personal preference using the built-in EQ or choose from a selection of preset sound profiles. The app is straightforward to use, making it easy to fine-tune the audio if you want a different listening experience.

That said, using the app isn’t essential for day-to-day use. Most playback controls, volume adjustments, call management, and track skipping can be handled directly through the earbuds’ touch controls, so you rarely need to take out your phone.

The app does provide a few useful features that are worth enabling. You can customise the touch gestures to better suit your preferences, making the controls more convenient and intuitive. It also lets you enable LDAC, which provides higher-quality wireless audio on compatible Android devices. Keep in mind that enabling LDAC may disable certain features, such as multipoint connectivity or other processing modes, due to Bluetooth bandwidth limitations. Additional features, such as firmware updates, battery level monitoring, and gaming mode controls, are also available through the app, helping you get the most out of the Air6 HS earbuds.

Battery life is another area where the Air6 HS shines. The earbuds provide up to 9 hours of playback on a single charge, with the charging case extending total battery life to 45 hours. If you’re in a hurry, just 10 minutes of charging provides around 3 hours of listening time, making them ideal for busy days. The following are the battery specifications:

  • Earbud battery: 41mAh (each)
  • Charging case battery: 500mAh
  • Earbud charging time: Approximately 45 minutes
  • Charging case charging time: Approximately 1 hour 36 minutes
  • USB Type-C charging

These figures place the Air6 HS among the better-performing wireless earbuds in the budget category. We found these values to be very promising, which made using these earbuds much more convenient.

After using both the Air6 HS and the Air5 Pro, I found they each cater to slightly different audiences. While both offer excellent sound quality, I found myself using them in different situations.

The Air5 Pro definitely feels like the more premium pair. The addition of ANC makes a noticeable difference when travelling or working in busy environments, and there are plenty of extra features to play around with if you enjoy customising your listening experience. The sound is incredibly immersive and has a little more depth overall, making them my preferred choice when I really want to sit back and enjoy music.

The Air6 HS, on the other hand, is much more of an everyday earbud. I really liked how lightweight they felt, and because of the open-fit design, I could comfortably wear them for long periods without feeling like my ears needed a break. They also let in just enough background sound to stay aware of my surroundings, which I actually preferred when walking around or working.

One thing that really impressed me with the Air6 HS was the battery life. I found myself charging them much less often, and they were always ready to go whenever I needed them. The microphone quality was also consistently clear during calls, with people having no trouble hearing me.

If I had to choose between them, the Air5 Pro is the better all-around package if you want the extra premium features and better noise isolation. However, the Air6 HS offers fantastic value and is the pair I’d happily reach for every day thanks to its comfort, reliable battery life, and enjoyable sound. Especially because the price point is almost half the amount compared to the Pros, the Air6 stand out on their own. It really comes down to whether you prioritise premium features or everyday convenience.

While the Air6 HS offers fantastic value for money, there are a few areas where it could be improved:

  • Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is not included, although this is understandable given the price.
  • The glossy finish attracts fingerprints quite easily.
  • Personally, I found the semi-in-ear design less comfortable for smaller ears and would have preferred it.

The SOUNDPEATS Air6 HS is an excellent pair of budget-friendly wireless earbuds that delivers far more than its price suggests. With impressive sound quality, LDAC support, Hi-Res Audio certification, Spatial Audio, long battery life, Bluetooth 6.0, and reliable microphone performance, they offer outstanding value.

If you prefer the comfort of an open-style, semi-in-ear design and want audio quality that rivals more expensive earbuds, the Air6 HS is an easy recommendation. While the lack of ANC and the one-size-fits-all design won’t suit everyone, the overall package is highly competitive and makes these earbuds one of the best options in their price range.

Overall: 8/10
