Thematically Watch Dogs is based around the effects of technology in this future dystopian world of London. Ubisoft has done a stunning job in recreating London. The level of detail and attention to detail makes it feel like London. I was instantly impressed by the environment and the sheer amount of madness in this game.

"watchdogslegion_1"

Watch Dogs is primarily a sand-boxed game where you can approach missions in a few ways: hacking, all-out attack and stealth. Hacking is the core element of this game that differentiates it to its peers. Hacking takes two forms: stealthy or offensive. Hacking in stealth mode allows you to complete missions with minimal casualties. Hacking allows for chaotic mayhem and destruction as you use your drones and turrets against enemies. You can take the approach of just going out all guns blazing and dispatching enemies. You can play in a hitman way and take out enemies in a stealthy way. How you play is your choice, I found a mix of elements to be the most fun. The hacking of drones and cars is where the game shines. It's lots of fun. As with any Watch Dogs, you can take control of a whole host of vehicles and enjoy the stunning views of London.

One twist with the games is the ability to recruit almost any character you encounter in the world to fight for your cause. These recruits become playable characters. Each character has their strengths and weaknesses and unique abilities. You can enable permadeath which means as your characters die, they can't respawn. If all your characters die, the game is over when permadeath is enabled. This feature adds another element to the solid gameplay, a real sense of tension and suspense.

"watchdogslegion_2"

The gameplay is familiar to any GTA, drive, kill and finish the story. The gameplay is easy to pick up. The hacking elements can be tricky at times when doing it through the lens of a security camera. The voice acting and your sidekick Bagley add a voice of reason to the whole story. The main missions are well structured, dystopian excels through the storytelling of the gameplay. There is enough variety in gameplay to keep you occupied for hours on end. If you finish the game, there are tons of side quests, recruiting opportunities and mini-games like football and darts.

"watchdogslegion_3"

There will be online and co-op, it's pencilled in for December.

Legion is lots of fun. You can spend hours just wondering around the city and taking in the sights. Gameplay and in particular, the hacking mechanisms and the use of drones add a whole another layer to the gameplay. It's fun to hijack a drone and take out the Albion henchmen. Car mechanics are decent. It treads the line between a simulator and arcade racing, it's decent but not the highlight of the game. In conclusion, it's worth picking up and will have you coming back for more.

Overall: 8/10

Cloudpunk is the journey of the newbie driver, Rania, who has fled her home-world to become a delivery driver in Navalis to make ends meet. The game centres on Rania's first night delivering packages for Cloudpunk, an illicit delivery company. Game mechanics involve driving through a dystopian pixelated world and hand-delivering packages in either first person or 3rd person. While the mechanics and game-play are straightforward and easy to get to grips, it mainly serves as a way to deliver the heavily driven narrative story of Navalis and the ills of this world.

The neon-noir pixelated world of Navalis is visually stunning. The mixture of neon-bright skyscapes mixed with darkness brings the bleakness of the world to life. Pixelated blocky rendering adds to the city and doesn't detract from the game. Different parts of the city have different density of people, cars and buildings which makes each part of the city worthy of a visit. The main storyline will guide you through the many parts of the city.

"cloudpunk_1"

This game is driven heavily by the interactions of "Control" (the voice of Cloudpunk) and Rania. However, as you complete more missions and interact with people, you begin to scratch away at the surface of Navalis and find out more about this place. The missions make Rania choose between keeping the status quo in the city or challenging the powerful and rich. Rania's AI companion Camus acts as a sounding board, large parts of the game involve monologues where we uncover more about Rania and the isolation she feels. The game excels in the narrative aspects, the storyline and creating the world and people of Navalis. There are a few drawbacks, the use of character animation as opposed to static pictures would have brought the characters to life when they are conversing.

I was playing the game on the Xbox and found the load times frustratingly slow. When the maps did load, I found your car unresponsive and then frame rates would severely drop too. Elements of the map and markers weren't particularly clear especially at the start of the game. These were all minor annoyances in an otherwise very enjoyable game.

"cloudpunk_2"

Cloundpunk is an interesting mix of narrative-driven game-play with superb visuals that embrace the neon-noir style. Thematically the game looks at poverty, isolation, greed and class which it underpins the majority of missions. The interaction between Control and Rania drives the narrative and is further enhanced by missions. Certain missions will require the player to make judgement calls on what the best approach is. The game is about 9 hours long. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, the mechanics and how it played. The load times and framerate issues were a minor issue in the grand scheme of things.

You play as a flamed headed character as you navigate through every murkier chapter of Purgatory.

"westofdead1"

The dark cartoony world and art style make this game visually stunning, every aspect of the characters, enemies, and environment detail fit perfectly well into the world of West of Dead. This is all complemented with the voice acting skills of Ron Perlman who helps to bring your character to life. The wild west theme, music, and artifacts further enhance the level of immersion transporting you to this hellish world. Sound effects evoke the wild west. The animations are impressive and the character design is superb. The clever use of lighting sources serve as game mechanics and also a way of making your journey more treacherous.

"westofdead2"

The game mechanics centre around a procedurally generated roguelike shooter that uses a cover system. If you expect to casually pick up this game and navigate this world with ease you will be surprised, a fundamental understanding of the cover mechanics, dodge, and twin-stick shooting controls are needed. There is a fairly steep learning curve to progress any sort of distance within each chapter. It can be frustrating at the start but as you learn more the game becomes more enjoyable. The cover mechanism, dodging, and shooting are all super responsive and you feel in total control which is required as this game is unforgiving if you make mistakes. It's all about strategy and how you will approach to clear out a section of enemies. The gameplay is varied enough to keep you interested and coming back for more pain. A decent variety of enemies will keep you on your toes and will engage your brain.

"westofdead3"
West of Dead picks the wild west theme in purgatory and excels at bringing it to life. Every detail from the room layouts, the voice acting (Ron Perlman), sound effects, soundtrack, and animations bring this world to life. It's a superbly crafted game and the art-style is stunning. The gameplay mechanics are on point and unforgiving, the difficulty level is quite severe in parts but this adds to the sense of being in purgatory. PES has come a long way since its inception back in 1995. It's the iconic brand of the football game that has spanned a two-decade rivalry with FIFA.

This year we have eFootball PES 2021 Season Update which is a reduced-priced version of the game. It does what it says in the title, it's a season update and not an entirely updated version. The new improved overhaul of PES is pencilled in for 2021. This year's version of PES is almost identical to eFootball PES 2020 with updated players, a few additions to the master leagues, and some minor gameplay improvements.

"PES2021_1"

FIFA and PES suffer from an annual release syndrome, where minor changes are applied from the previous edition but the game is priced at full whack. In theory, you could be paying for a full-priced game just for updated teams and rosters. It's been mooted for a long time that an update that has no major changes shouldn't be a full-price game. This year's PES is that, the updated rooster and some minor changes but at a reduced price. The makers are fairly clear about this in the title of the game.

Gameplay changes centre around better close control and more attentive feedback with players. You seem to better ball control which in turn leads to better player control. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a huge thing but these minor changes do give an extra sense of realism to the game. Game fluidity is improved. This is welcomed and is duly noted. Apart from the updated team rosters and additional managers, it's the same as eFootball PES 2020.

"PES2021_2"

There is one point that should have been addressed is some AI. Issues around AI occur when a ball is deflected and the AI just ceases to exist. This leads to comical moments in the game where players stay stationary as a ball slowly rolls by them. It would have been nice if this bug was addressed as it's the most obvious issue with the gameplay mechanics. The clunky menus from the late 90s persist too.

The PES franchise is the best football game out there and eFootball PES 2021 Season Update brings some minor improvements. The question is whether eFootball PES 2021 Season Update is worth buying if you have eFootball PES 2020 and this is the tough question. I'm a big fan of football games and will get my money's worth. The reduced price would be a huge incentive and will entice owners of eFootball PES 2020.

"PES2021_3"

If you haven't played or don't own eFootball PES 2020, you should buy eFootball PES 2021 Season Update it's unbelievable value. I can understand the reluctance of owners to pay for a seasonal update of a game but we have been doing this for years for the cost of the full price game. I think the game is fairly priced considering what you get for it.

As I said it's the best football game despite the lack of licenses.

Overall: 8/10

Developer: Hangar 13

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One (Reviewed)

Genre: Action, Adventure

Publisher: 2k

Mafia: Definitive Edition is the updated version of the 2002 original Mafia game. There is a mix of story updates, free-roaming mode, and 4k visuals. This update of Mafia has been built from scratch as opposed to just being a 4K update which Mafia II and Mafia III have been given in their latest incarnation. The updates for Mafia include plots and aspects of gameplay. Mafia is a heavily narrative-driven crime mob story.

Lost Haven, the world you navigate is set in America during the 1930s. Prohibition is in full swing and the mobsters rule their city with an iron fist. The world is detailed and meticulously created, the guns, the cars, the people, the clothes and the language is all of that 1930s era. It looks stunning in 4K, detailed environment, textures, and the lighting is stunning. The game designers have excelled at making the game look fantastic. This is a massive upgrade from the initial Mafia game. The world is huge and immersive. The character textures and detailed facial composition is impressive.

"mafia_de1"

You will play as Tommy Angelo who is a cab driver who ends up being caught up in the mob world. It follows his life in the world of the mob, it is a narrative-driven cinematic story, the gameplay centres around predefined missions where you uncover more about the mob and Tommy's life. This part of Mafia is linear despite being in a massive open world, the mission led stories are intertwined in the overall story. The game emphasizes storytelling and gameplay together. The player becomes invested in the characters as you progress through each mission. I was drawn in by the story, there are twists and turns with lots of intrigues too.

"mafia_de4"

It's easy to think of Mafia as a mob film mixed with GTA style gameplay. There is an emphasis on driving as you are a cab driver but this mixed in with a third-person shooter/adventurer. If you played any GTA game, the mechanics are akin to it, drive a car around, get out, and complete missions. The interesting aspect of the driving aspects is that cars handle like cars without power steering. This mimics the cars of that era. Ancient cars are what you will experience and it's a throwback to 1930s America, this is captured and plays well. The third-person gameplay incorporates a cover system that underpins the gameplay style. Similarly, the guns are of the 1930s with handguns, shotguns, and Tommy guns. The gameplay mechanics are smooth, responsive, and easy to pick up. There isn't much of a learning curve which means you will be thrown into missions instantly.

"mafia_de2"

While, the graphics, textures and the draw distance is on point. I found the load times to be frustrating, I'm not sure if this is due to the level detail of maps and how the game loads them. It is quite noticeable from early on and is the only real gripe I had. I found the load times stifling and breaks your rhythm too. Reloading the last checkpoint, new missions, and the open mode ( "Free ride" mode) of the game are impacted. The story mode of the game may be a little short too, it took me about 4 days of extended play to get through it however there is an open mode available once you complete the first mission which allows you to navigate the world.

"mafia_de3"

In totality, I found myself quickly hooked to the story mode, and the up to date graphics made everything seem more lifelike. The world is immersive and the gameplay is so easy to pick and play. I mean you will be completing your first mission within minutes. Simply game mechanics and less fuss is a huge bonus. The storytelling, cinematics, soundtracks, and voiceovers give this an authentic film feel. You feel a part of the mob world and invested in your character. While the open world allows you to wander and find missions and tasks to do, I loved the story-based missions the most. The addition of the "Free Ride" open mode gives some extra longevity to the game.

The Mafia trilogy which includes Mafia: Definitive Edition, Mafia II: Definitive Edition (4K update) and Mafia III: Definitive Edition (4K update) is €59.99 but the Mafia: Definitive Edition standalone edition is €39.99.

Overall: 8.5/10

Developer: Vicarious Visions

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One (Reviewed)

Genre: Sports, Skateboard

Publisher: Activision

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater at one was the most anticipated game from Activision back in the late '90s and the early '00s. I was a huge fan back then so I was looking to see what the modern update would be like and whether it would hit the legendary status of the original. Tony Hawk emulated the physics of skating, the skate parks, and characters and their signature moves. They combined all these and a hugely competitive side to Tony Hawk and allow you to chain ridiculous (but satisfying combos). Tony Hawk was the de facto standard of skating games and the bench for all competitors.

"THPS1+2_1"

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 is a faithful update of the original games with some added features too. The most obvious update is the graphics, the levels, and character design has been meticulously brought to modern generation consoles. Levels, textures, and environments are fantastically vivid and vibrant with no draw distance. The original maps from games 1 and 2 and their layouts are as per the original games. Straightaway, there is a newness about the game, it's bright and just more polished granted it has been 20 years. This is the most obvious and drastic update on the current version of Tony Hawk. It's all super slick from a visual perspective. The main skating mechanics are just like the original if anything the controls are a bit smoother, it's combined elements from other moves from other Tony Hawk's games. Overall, the gameplay is fluid and you have a real sense of control which allows some amazing stunt chains. Sound effects and control mechanics go hand in hand and you feel the skate trucks grinding against edges and the slap when you hit the ground.

"THPS1+2_2"

Like with all Tony Hawk games, customisation is a huge aspect from skater and to creating skate parks. The create a skater option has a wide variety of face choices, swag, and clothing to choose from if you love the whole create a skater option or you can pick your favourite skater.

Other modes include skate park builder mode where you can create and share your custom skate parks. The tools in the builder are intuitive and will lead to some crazy and fun skate parks, you are unable to set goals or any particular tasks in the skater mode which is lacking.

"THPS1+2_3"

There is local split-screen play and multiplayer too. Local split-screen is a cool local play option that is welcomed to see. Multiplayer in online mode allows you to play a graffiti mode, horse, tag, score challenge, combo, and challenge. Online play can be competitive or not whichever tickles your fancy.

The game is awesome but so was the original, the minor tweaks to control have made the game feel more responsive. Updated versions of the course bring the levels to life. This game felt like a reboot was needed and they have timed it right. The gameplay is superb and has always been - the strongest point of Tony Hawk. The 2-minute rounds create a sense of urgency and will have you playing the levels again and again. The time limit in the rounds also gives a sense of challenge. It's one of the few games that there is tons of replay value in the game. This is mainly due to the ability to chain tricks amazingly. Tony Hawk update is a success and is a must-own.

Overall: 9/10

Developer: Sumo Digital Ltd, Lucky Mountain G

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, Xbox One (Reviewed)

Genre: Action, Indie, Racing

Publisher: Curve Digital

Hotshot Racing is a throwback to a genre of racing games in the 90s (Virtua Racing, Ridge Racer, and Daytona USA) when the low-polygon visual style dominated games. The underlying retro style sets the entire tone for the game. I love the retro style, the bright colours, and the arcade-style racing game that doesn't take itself too seriously.

The game is an arcade-style drift racer, it's high paced, bright, and full of action. It's the opposite of the super-realistic games that have been at the fore lately. It has 16 tracks across 4 different environments which are fairly short and concise. There is an arcade mode, time trial, Grand Prix, cops & robbers, and drive or explode mode.

"hotshotracing1"

Hotshot Racing reminds me of a mix of Virtua Racing and Daytona USA but upgraded for the current generation of PC and consoles. The game still relies on simple card models, character models, and level models. They all have a current generation of polish to them which brings them to life. The gameplay is super simple, there is an emphasis on steering, drifting, and accelerating. On your first play, it will take you a minute or so to get used to controls if not less. There is no need to have a definitive racing line that you must take, you are left to own your devices and devise your strategy. The addition of the car boost adds to the arcade / coin-op feel.

The arcade, Grand Prix, and single race modes pit you against 7 other competitors and the winner takes all. In the case of Grand Prix mode, the driver with the most points over 4 games is the winner. These are the standard racing modes but Hotshot has two other fantastic modes - Drive or Explode and Cops & Robbers. These modes turn this arcade racer into a party game. In Cops & Robbers, you have to catch and destroy the other cars, the drive or explode mode requires you to stay above a certain speed or lose (think of the film Speed). These game modes with their chaotic nature are amazing breaks from arcade racing and will breed longevity into the game. I would have liked to see more game modes and more tracks but I think the game proposition is more than worth it without the additional game modes and tracks.

"hotshotracing2"

The Hotshot Racing contains a Boombastic and loud ass soundtrack that is loud and vibrant. It adds to the whole driving and racing experience. It plays homage to Ridge Racer and other arcade racers back in the 90s too. The speed of soundtrack and track changes as you progress through each race, the closer you get to complete the level, the more intense it gets building to a crescendo. The soundtrack is really well thought out and fits the game perfectly.

"hotshotracing3"

Hotshot Racing also has the ability of 8 players online and co-op play too. One fantastic feature that many games miss is the ability to play multiplayer locally, Hotshot Racing allows for up to 4 players to play locally or in co-op mode. The Switch allows for LAN play too. These features add another level of fun to a super enjoyable game. The ability to both play online and locally adds to the party mode and game experience too.

"hotshotracing4"

Hotshot Racing does a fantastic job of re-creating and improving the arcade racer. Its visuals are superb and the colours hit all the right notes. The characters, voice-overs, and general sound complement the game and make it more immersive. The addition of party games is a brilliant idea and executed superbly. The addition of more tracks and more party games is the only issue I have. The gameplay is fantastic and so easy to pick up and play. Ultimately the sense of speed and the combination of the soundtrack make this an impactful driving game.

Overall: 8.5/10

Developer: Wildfire Game

Platforms: PC

Genre: Action, Adventure, RPG, Early Access

Publisher: bilibili

Eastern Exorcist is the wonderfully dark animated side-scrolling hack and slash RPG. It is a hack and slash that requires thought and strategy, you can't just button bash through monsters, spirits, and bosses. It's light on the RPG elements but builds a hugely impressive and immersive world.

The first thing that struck me is the art style, hand-drawn Chinese art style. It underpins all the aspects of the game from level design, character design, demon, and boss design. This wonderful art-style brings all the aspects together. The level design and game presentation look amazing, it's a visual feast. On top of this, the wonderful character animation brings your character and his actions to life. You get immersed in this dark and demon-filled world from your first battle. The level design complements this world so well, the world enhances the story and game progression. The animation of the character is just superb, every enemy and boss has the same attention to detail as the protagonist. The art style brings this game to life and to be honest, I haven't been this impressed by the visual of a game in a long time. You could spend hours in awe of the visuals alone.

"easternexorcist1"

The game centres around a hack and slash combat style with a highly responsive control system. Every action you make with your character is fluid, realistic, and responsive. This game perfects the mechanics of combat and character movement, you get the sense you are in total control. There is no lag or jitteriness in your character control. The game places an understanding that each mechanic serves a purpose. To successfully negotiate the game you need to master and understand when to use each mechanic. Every aspect of the game has it's a purpose and as the player explores, the more you learn. Eastern Exorcist is a difficult but rewarding challenge, while it may become frustrating at times, there is a huge sense of achievement as you progress.

Game controls and the visual feast on display emphasise the two most important parts of the game, the other less integral part is the RPG element. I'm not a huge RPG fan, I like a mix of RPG and combat with the emphasis being on combat and game mechanics. For me the game strikes the right balance, there are some light RPG elements, and the storyline complements and enhances the game. I loved the storyline is set out fairly early and this darkness sets a backdrop for the entire game. The dark levels, bosses, and world play well with the story of the battles in the game. The story element isn't obsolete but is somewhat of an unsung hero in the game.

"easternexorcist2"

In totality, I thoroughly enjoyed the game however I did find parts of the game samey. In between each boss fight, I found there was a level of repetition of platform sections and killing demons. Some more variety of puzzles would have complemented the killing a lot more. I think this is where you could find criticism of the game. I felt the variation in bosses more than outweighed the pre-boss section.

This is a real gem, wonderfully animated and designed. A good learning curve with a lot of frustration at times due to boss fights, the frustration is the unforgiving nature of the game if you use the wrong mechanic as opposed to a badly designed or skewed game. The payoff of beating each boss and progressing to the next one and the relief in some cases. It's a wonderfully tough game that requires a level of concentration to beat it. It's a must buy.

Overall: 9/10

Developer: EA Vancouver

Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One (Reviewed)

Genre: Fighting, sports

Publisher: EA Sports

UFC 4 is the latest iteration of the UFC game series from EA. This game follows firmly in the footsteps of the predecessors, this latest version is about improvements and updates as opposed to an overhaul of the series. One interesting aspect of UFC is that you are thrown into the career mode straight away which may be a bit too much into the deep end for some.

"UFC4_1"

Before you can settle in and get used to the game, you are fighting your first foe, the career mode is underpinned by you being and upcoming fighter spotted by coach Davis. The first few fights of the game can be considered a tutorial, you get used to the core concepts of the game standing game (boxing and Muay Thai), ground game (BJJ), and wrestling. In the lead up to every fight, you have a period of weeks (in-game time) to train, promote, and invite other fighters to your gym to learn new moves. As you train, you can level up whichever aspect of fighting you want to excel at, using moves while playing will increase their effectiveness too. The career mode follows the same steps to pick a fight, post to social media, train, and improve your fighter. You can customise the entire look of the character and build it in your mould. In career mode, it is fairly formulaic however you get to build the style of your fighter.

"UFC4_2"

I always found the stand-up game superb in UFC, boxing and kickboxing have always been my go-to and it was the same this time too. The mechanisms in boxing, the movement, and gameplay whilst standing are slick. The actual feel of fighting is exciting and enjoyable, it does that factor that makes it feel immersive. This is complemented by the sound and the graphics. I enjoyed the clinch scenarios and Muay Thai too. I have an issue with the ground game, wrestling, BJJ, and transitioning. The controls are clunky and it's difficult to get feedback as to how to control your opponent and block their movements too. I think this part of the game needs more tweaking and was my least favourite. The mini-games for submission are novel and also give the player an advantage for being methodical will submitting.

"UFC4_3"

UFC 4 probably suffers from a lack of competition in this space of fighting games. UFC4 is minor tweaks and improvements from UFC 3, it's not groundbreaking. Despite this and the clunky mechanisms for the ground game, UFC 4 is lots of fun, integrates a huge roster of players, several styles of fighting in a well-made game that has all the usual EA polish. If you need a UFC or a fighting fix, this is lots of fun and worth getting.

Overall: 8/10

Developer: Mediatonic

Platforms: PC (Reviewed), PlayStation 4,

Genre: Action, Casual, Indie, Massively Multiplayer, Sports

Publisher: Devolver Digital

Fall Guys is the ultimate party game that we needed in 2020. This is a last bean standing game in a battle royale mode. It's the virtual equivalent of Takeshi's Castle, Ninja Warrior, and Wipeout. The game is this wonderfully bright and fruit-filled levels of chaos where 60 beans start and get whittled down the winner bean through multiple puzzles (24 levels). It takes the approach of being focussed on the mechanics of a few puzzles and putting players against each other in a frenetic race to the finish.

"Fall_Guys_2"

The game hits the sweet spot of being amazingly fun, a mix of chaos, frustrating, and having a huge sense of accomplishment and relief if you win. The game isn't perfect but everyone starts on the same level, a mixture of luck and good gameplay will get you through the challenges. The random events like a banana or an orange squishing you as you negotiate a travelator will happen, but you need to get up and persist. All the spills, the falls, and, squishing are hugely entertaining even if you are on the receiving end. This game hugely emphasises fun and playfulness but does have a competitive edge, these all combined are a superb treat. It nails the fun factor so well.

"Fall_Guys_3"

I have to say this such a breath of fresh air, a party game that is amazingly simple but super addictive and so fun. It requires very little to pick up and play. It's fun if even if you don't know what you are doing at the start. You will still enjoy the straight forward game mechanics in the multiple puzzles.

"Fall_Guys_4"

This is an online gaming experience that could do with offline local party mode but this doesn't detract from how awesome and fun the game is. The game will leave you a little frustrated at the start as you constantly get bundled over as you try to qualify from your heat, but as you progress through the levels you have a huge pay-off which makes the game such fun.

Overall: 9/10

Developer: Superhot Team

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One (Reviewed)

Genre: Action, Indie

Publisher: Superhot Team

Superhot: Mind Contol Delete is the follow up to Superhot, it's set in this laboratory super white setting, where a host of enemies rush you. It's an FPS puzzler where you can control the speed by time with your movement. This is the twist in Superhot. This mechanism is what gives its uniqueness in gameplay. The minimalist background, character design, and the use of very few colours give this game a real clean and stylish feel, it's almost sterile. The game-play is far from sterile.

"superhot_mcd_2"

The stripped-back look and feel emphasise the game-play, it really gets players to think strategically about your choices in-game and how you approach your enemies. I like the emphasis on the game-play. It's not a case of style or substance, the intro and loading screens add to the futuristic feel of the game. I'm new to Superhot and I found my first few hours of gameplay disorientating, fascinating, and intriguing. I found the transition from load screens to actual gameplay with very little notice - exhilarating and chaotic. After the few hours of the gameplay and the familiarity of the puzzles in the game, I found the roguelike gameplay lots of fun. This is more focussed on the action and FPS element as opposed to puzzle games.

"superhot_mcd_3"

Even though the game centres around the one mechanism of being able to control the speed of time with movement, the levels with randomly generated enemies and layout stop the game from being repetitive. There are a plethora of weapons and items you can use to kill a variety of enemies. Cores and hacks that allow you to tweak the game in your favour by giving you superpowers or simplifying levels depending on what hack or core you choose. Cores allow you to have a persistent ability throughout the game whereas hacks are time bound or specific to a certain point in the game. The cores and hacks elevate the gameplay into a super immersive action film game where you can chain enemy kills like John Wick.

"superhot_mcd_4"

Superhot: Mind Control Delete is the unique action shooter that you haven't played before and won't put down. Its stripped-back clean feel is in direct contrast to the intense level of action throughout each level. The mix of action, the tactical approach, and chaos is stunning. It's an amazing experience and every gamer should experience it.

Overall: 8/10

;
