Paleblue’s rechargeable batteries are the glow-up version of normal alkaline batteries. They are designed to outperform your usual single-use batteries, and on top of that, they are 25-50% lighter than standard alkaline batteries. I did not expect to actually notice the difference, but even holding onto the battery, you can feel the difference. After testing the Paleblue batteries, I understood the hype around them. The coolest feature these batteries have to offer from your regular batteries is that each battery has its own USB-C port built right in, so you do not need those bulky battery charging docks. You can literally plug the battery in like you are charging a tiny phone. The included cable can charge four batteries at once, which is super convenient when you are powering multiple gadgets. Paleblue sent us the sustainability kit to review.
Every battery can save up to 1000 single-use batteries from going to landfill, which feels like a win for the planet with hardly any effort. Paleblue offers AA, AAA, C, D and 9V options. For this review, we were kindly sent the starter pack: 8 AA + 8 AAA batteries. For anyone who uses batteries regularly, like for remotes, keyboard, controllers, and lights, this kit is honestly perfect.

These are the specifications for the batteries. Cycle rating is 1000+ recharges. Chemistry is lithium ion. Energy is 2550 mWh. Voltage is 1.5 V, and the capacity is 1700 mAh (AA) and 600 mAh (AAA). The price for the sustainability kit is at €99,99.
The packaging for these batteries is extremely thoughtful. Everything comes in a recyclable cardboard box with four separate little storage cases, each holding four batteries. Inside each case, there are individual battery slots plus a tiny compartment for the charging cable and the manual. This keeps everything neat, and you do not end up with random batteries rolling around in your drawer or just misplaced in your house.

The USB-C port is not positioned awkwardly on the battiers either. On the AAA batteries, it sits vertically near the positive end and on the AA, it sits horizontally near the top. It is so new and interesting to see a USB port directly on a battery, but it works so much better than expected. The only thing that threw me off at first was the outer wrap of the battery, which seems to have a sticker-like paper feel. But even though it felt a bit odd at first, it actually stays put and does not peel. Design-wise, the batteries look quite like batteries; simple and clean.
The charging times were pretty spot on with what Paleblue promises. In my testing, the AAA took an hour to charge, and the AA roughly took an hour and 40 minutes to charge. This is super quick compared to the giant multi-slot chargers I used for other kinds of rechargeable batteries before. When they are charging, you get a little flashing green ring on the top, and when they are done, it goes solid.

The included cable is a USB-A to a 4-head USB-C cable, so you can charge four batteries simultaneously. What you plug it into does affect charging time. I used my Samsung fast charge wall adapter and consistently got that 60-90-ish minute charge cycle. If you use a slower port (like a laptop USB), it will take longer, but that is just how charging works in general. I definitely do not recommend charging your batteries with a power bank, plus it is honestly not really needed. Basically, you can charge the Pale Blue batteries however you want, just expect different speeds.
Battery life depends on what you are using. For instance, in an alarm clock, the AAA batteries lasted about a week as it remained on for the entire duration. In a TV remote, the AAA has been going strong for over two weeks and has not died yet. In a flashlight, the brightness was impressive; there was no dullness, unlike some other rechargeable batteries used in comparison to Paleblue. Overall, I will say that the power output is strong and really consistent. Between the quick charging and solid runtime, these feel both eco-friendly and practical.

I have used rechargeable batteries for years, and honestly, Paleblue’s designs feel like the future. Having the USB-C port on the battery itself makes charging so much easier. No bulky charging station, no waiting four plus hours. Plug these batteries in, and they will be done sooner than expected. As someone who would always find it a hassle to charge those other types of rechargeable batteries, these options are so much better.
Performance-wise, especially when using them in things like mice, keyboards, little LED lights, and remotes, these batteries perform better than one can expect. A lot of older rechargeables I have tried do not have great power output, so I would still buy disposable batteries for certain things. However, with the Paleplue batteries, I have not needed to, and they are reliable across everything I have tested. Also, not having to keep buying disposable batteries is such a relief for the environment and the cost.

The only thing I would want to tweak or suggest is the USB-A cable. Since everything is shifting to USB-C anyway, it would make the whole setup feel more modern and consistent. A fully USB-C cable would be perfect.
Paleplue’s rechargeable batteries are fast charging, lightweight, super convenient, and surprisingly powerful. The built-in USB-C design is genius, and the storage cases are a nice touch. The batteries themselves perform really well across everyday devices. If you are someone who burns through batteries or just wants a more eco-friendly setup without sacrificing performance, then these batteries are definitely worth it!
Overall: 9/10
