Fresh off our biggest update yet, featuring a redesigned map, new animations, improved visuals, and more, we’re opening the gates to everyone. No paywall, just pure chaos, mystery, and multiplayer mayhem.
The response during the Steam Summer Sale was incredible. Players jumped in and confirmed what we already knew: this is the best version of Castle of Blackwater we’ve ever shipped. But one challenge remained: Player liquidity.
Even with a discount, and more marketing than ever, there was still a barrier stopping new players from trying the game. And without a critical mass of players, matchmaking just wasn’t as healthy as it needed to be.
We asked ourselves some hard questions. Is our mission just to squeeze out a few more sales? Or is it to create the thriving, chaotic, and hilarious community that Castle of Blackwater was always meant to have?
The answer was clear. We’re building a game powered by players, not price tags.
