Although he has some decent grades, he is disliked by fellow students for his otaku interests. Although he is a recluse, his only friend in the World is his classmate Y\u00fato It\u00f3 who is a bit of an oddball himself. These two boys have resigned themselves to believing they could never get a 3-D girlfriend and have instead dedicated themselves to anime. However, by pure chance one day, Tsutsui is late to class and is sentenced to pool cleaning duty. He is not alone however, as he is paired up with the beautiful but the schools most talked about girl - Iroha Igarashi. Through just this single interaction, their lives become intertwined forever as the love story behind Real Girl<\/em> begins.<\/span>\n\nOkay okay, I wasn\u2019t expecting much out of this show at the beginning but wow! It hit me right in the feels in the last couple of episodes! This high school romance had its ups and downs, its misunderstandings and surprises, it\u2019s far from your typical rom-com anime series. This show had deapt, so I can only imagine how good the source material was in the manga. Tsutsui is your classic teenage otaku, who prefers his own company and is incredibly awkward when it comes to interacting with \u2018real people\u2019. He does however have a best friend in It\u00f3, who has his own unique interests. It\u2019s no wonder these two had become social outcasts in high schools. However high school kids can be incredibly harsh, as all these characters are in and around 18 years old. It\u2019s not only the \u2018nerds\u2019 being bullied, but even the gorgeous Iroha who has been labelled as the \u2018school slut\u2019. The pairing is almost unimaginable, but it really works. Both Tsutsui and Iroha take their new found relationship very seriously and it changes them both for the better.<\/span>\n\nHowever there is always a catch, Iroha announces to Tsutsui that she only has another six months in this school before she transfers. They make the most of their time together, Tsutsui has difficulty expressing and understanding emotions so there are the odd misunderstandings. Iroha does all she can to improve Tsutsui\u2019s impression of himself and build his self confidence, which has a number of setbacks due to him not entirely believing her words at times. And like all great shows, there is just another massive plot twist near the end of the show. One that was utterly heartbreaking, yet with all that happens, the character development, actions, emotions - it was all utterly believable. I have to admit though, I did shead the odd tear or two during the finale episode!<\/span>\n\n\u2018Real Girl\u2019 (Riaru G\u00e1ru) first began as a sh\u00f3jo manga series by mangaka Mao Nanami back in 2011. Having completed with a total of 12 volumes in 2016, it has been published in English by Kodansha comics. However I have only been able to find the first six volumes in print, the entire series however is available to buy digitally.<\/span>\n\nIt wasn\u2019t until the manga series had ended for quite some time, was this 24 episode anime adaption released in 2018 from studio - Hoods Entertainment. This animation studio is still rather new having founded in 2009, but have since done a number of animes including Mysterious Girlfriend X and Drifters, under the name Hoods Drifters Studio. If that wasn\u2019t enough, there was also a live action film adaption released in 2018 under the name \u201c3D Kanojo Riaru G\u0101ru\u201d<\/span>\n\nBonus Features Include:<\/span>\n

It was a seriously good show, great character development, played out like a more serious teen drama rather than a romantic comedy. Would highly suggest this anime for fans of \u2018Golden Time\u2019 and \u2018Toradora\u2019.   Natsuo Fuji is just your typical high school boy, who has a massive crush on his teacher Ms Tachibana. Since there is zero chance he will ever get to go out with her, he agrees to attend a mixer with his friends in order to meet some cute girls. Whilst out he gets talking to Rui, a quiet but straight talking girl who persuades him to follow her home to do the \u2018deed\u2019. Thinking that they will never see one another again, Natsuo returns home to the news that his widowed father is getting remarried and she is on the way over with her two daughters - Rui and Ms Hina Tachibana. Let this chaotic new family dynamic begin, as Natsuo must learn to live with the woman he lost his virginity to and the one he wishes he could sleep with!<\/span><\/p>\n

  Well this is an anime that is just filled with drama and questions around romance within blended families and the morals that surround them. It initially began as Natuso having a long standing crush for his teacher Ms Hina Tachibana. In order to try and get past his one sided romance, he ended up sleeping with Rui, who inevitably ended up being the teacher's younger sister. As fate would have it, they all ended up under the one roof when their single parents remarried thus creating this incredibly complicated family. Following the initial revelation, the show then turns direction into Natuso and Rui keeping their first \u2018encounter\u2019 a secret from everyone and Natsuo also trying to resist all urges to pounce on Hina. The story further develops when Hina\u2019s secret relationship is exposed, Natsuo acts upon his feelings, Hina attempts to play the older sister and obviously Rui ends up transferring to the same school.<\/span><\/p>\n

  So there is clearly a reason this show is marked as an 18 classification, both for the nature of the story and the numerous naked scenes included. It\u2019s a pretty raunchy show at times and has a pretty narrow audience, however even though the premise of the show will be too much for many people to overlook - the character development, plot progression and the overall conclusion of the show is pretty well thought out! I can not falter the script whatsoever, it always keeps both feet in reality with its character reactions and inevitable consequences. We see the challenges that come about when step siblings develop romantic feelings for one another, normal high school antics, a school trip and even Natsuo thinking about his career as he throws himself back into his writing again towards the end thanks to the members of the Literature Club. Hina on the other hand is walking a tightrope, as her relationship to a married man is exposed and later we see how the cycle is repeating itself once more when the origins of which are revealed. With Hina now in the opposite role, her career ends on a cliff edge as well when a picture of her school trip antics lands on the Principal's desk. Its an inevitable conclusion to the series, a sad one at that but one that is more realistic than the hopeful happily ever after many would have been expecting from the series. As to if the anime\u2019s ending is the same as how the manga series ended, I\u2019m unsure as the manga concluded over a year after the anime did.<\/span><\/p>\n

  Speaking of which, the manga was created by Kei Sasuga, the same author behind the one shot harem romance \u2018GE - Good Ending\u2019. The \u2018Domestic Girlfriend\u2019 manga ran in Weekly Sh\u00f3nen Magazine from 2014 upto just last year in 2020, with a total of 28 volumes released with 11 extra chapters bundled together in one last volume. The English translation is being handled by Kodansha USA, with the volumes only being available in a digital format. The anime adaptation was then aired in 2019, with a total of 12 episodes all handled by studio Diomed\u00e9a. The same studio behind \u2018My Girlfriend is Shobitch\u2019, \u2018Girlish Number\u2019, \u2018Squid Girl\u2019 and \u2018Problem Children Are Coming From Another World, Aren\u2019t They?\u2019. This anime release is being handled by the dedicated team over at MVM Entertainment, giving it a BluRay only release.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Although this anime\u2019s plot is far from family friendly or aimed at casual anime viewers, it is still worth a watch for those that are willing to give the show a chance. The character development and interactions involved are rooted in a reality on par with our own, where actions such as student\/pupil relationships are met with dire consequences. No magic, adventure, epic battles or quests, just a show that dives into a plausible scenario where a student ends up with two step sisters and a romantic love triangle ensues. \u2018Domestic Girlfriend\u2019 is available now from MVM Entertainment as a BluRay only.<\/span><\/p>\n

However he is also flat broke and in need of some cheap accommodation, which he finds at Yuragi Inn. The local haunted hot springs, home to a number of interesting female residents and a ghost named Yuuna. Determined to help Yuuna move onto the afterlife before her spirit turns evil, Kogarashi moves in and helps to break any ties Yuuna has to this life. Trouble is, it\u2019s not going to be that simple!<\/span>\n\nWelcome back everyone to another anime harem, this time of the supernatural kind. So \u2018Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs\u2019 is a romantic comedy series, featuring a teenage boy who can interact with ghosts, ghouls, Gods etc. He wanders into a town famous for their hot springs, only to end up at Yuragi Inn due to their insanely cheap rent. There he meets the innkeeper Chitose Nakai, a woman who looks more like a middle schooler but is instead the one running the inn. She has a number of female borders, including Sagiri from a demon-slayin ninja clan, Yaya a timid girl who acts as the vessel for a Cat God and Nonko a famous manga author who is always hardly dressed, mostly drunk and always horny. And that is before you meet the resident ghost - Yuuna. Whose back story includes her dying one night in this very same hot springs resort, whilst on a school trip. So it\u2019s definitely a cast of lively characters to say the least. Thus far, its an interesting mix of personalities, so let\u2019s get down to the story aspect.<\/span>\n\nSo like I mentioned Yuuna once died at this Inn, thus tying her ghost to this resort. Now I am not entirely certain as to how long she has been dead, but I would say it has definitely been more than a decade. As to how she died, well that is still a bit of a mystery. One that I was hoping was going to be resolved in this season. However we are still none the wiser by the end of it.This anime finished airing in 2018, compared to the manga that only finished up just last Summer in June 2020. So there is some hope that we may get a season two.<\/span>\n\nNow Yuuna has a ditzy personality, she floats in her sleep, tends to lose her clothes very easily and also navigates towards Kogarashi\u2019s sleeping body every night. Resulting in him always waking up to some shocking scenes, closely followed by shocked screams and a nice morning dunk in the surrounding river outside the Inn. The comedy aspect is strong in this show, but so is the action. We have a number of supernatural monsters, creatures, encounters and even deities in this show. Apart from the action and comedy aspect, there are some touching moments - uncensored and uncut of course, wink wink. As well as some emotional scenes, some character developments, some backstories and the inevitable - rescue the ghost girl from the Black Dragon God.<\/span>\n\nBonus Features Include:<\/span><\/strong>\n\nSurprisingly, none whatsoever.<\/span>\n\nNo trailers<\/span>\n\nNo clean opening or closing credits<\/span>\n\nNo interviews<\/span>\n\nAnd certainly no OVA\u2019s<\/span>\n\nYuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs (Yuragi-s\u014d no Y\u016bna-san) was created by Japanese mangaka Tadahiro Miura. The supernatural, harem comedy was serialized in Weekly Sh\u00f3nen Jump from 2016 to 2020, with a total of 24 volumes released. The English translation and release was handled by Seven Seas Entertainment. The manga was first adapted into a four episode OVA series from studios Xebec and Singal.MD, none of which was included in this BluRay release. It was then adapted into this 12 episode series, once again by Xebec and the same director back in 2018. This was amongst one of the last productions ever to be released by studio Xebec, before they closed in 2019. The studio was most well known for their work on Martian Successor Nadesico, Love Hina, the original Shaman King and D. N. Angel. This BluRay release is being handled by MVM Entertainment, but is seriously lacking in the extras department. However it is still a solid stand alone series, but just could not be recommended for people that enjoy a good, complete ending. As you may have guessed from the title above, today I am taking a look into what was included in the September edition of Nihon Box. Which ran with the theme of \u2018Teens Power\u2019, with items from such hit anime shows including Demon Slayer, Bleach, Tokyo Revengers and Kaguya Sama: Love is War. So let\u2019s get the ball rolling with our usual Nihon Box infomercial.<\/span>\n\nNihon Box is a Japanese monthly subscription service that handpicks at least 6 items each month that are almost exclusive to Japan and ships them straight to your door. Their items are a mixture of Otaku Anime related merchandise and figures, as well as traditional Japanese items, from sweets to tableware. All of this is available to subscribe to for what I find a very affordable price each month.<\/span>\n\nLike SoKawaii, the more months you pay upfront the cheaper the price for individual boxes will be.<\/span> https:\/\/www.nihonbox.com\/en<\/a>\n\nMonthly is \u20ac29.99 plus shipping costs<\/span>\n\n3 Months is a single payment of \u20ac86.97, making each box \u20ac28.99, plus shipping costs.<\/span>\n\n6 Months is a single payment of \u20ac170.94, making each box \u20ac28.49, plus shipping costs.<\/span>\n\nDue to the latest European VAT legislation, the overall cost after shipping has increased slightly. The show focused around Ichigo Kurosaki, who became a substitute Soul Reaper in order to save his family. Many of you would be very well versed in the happenings of this show, and rightly so! It is also about to make a comeback in the not too distant future, as they will be adapting the final arc of the manga - the \u2018Thousand Year Blood War\u2019. So in order to help us all cope with the franchise about to reach its final anime conclusion, Nihon Box has included this tissue box cover with Ichigo and Rukia on the front.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNext up is this bamboo fibre cup, featuring the main characters from the latest hit anime - \u2018Tokyo Revengers\u2019. An anime that features the lead character travelling backwards in time in order to save his friends from their untimely deaths and thus change the future for the better. Kind of sounds like Steins: Gate, but with middle school kids and a street gang. I have yet to start this show, but let me know in the comments below if my description was even close to the truth. Anyway this cup could either be used as such or simply as a bit of decoration, you choose. They have even hinted in the leaflet this month that Tokyo Revengers may be making a return in future boxes.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNow we move on to the traditional Japanese item for this month, with a \u2018Tanuki Okiagari-Koboshi\u2019. The Okiagari-Koboshi (\u8d77\u304d\u4e0a\u304c\u308a\u5c0f\u6cd5\u5e2b, getting-up little boy) is a Japanese traditional doll. The toy is made from papier-m\u00e2ch\u00e9 and is a roly-poly toy, designed so that its weight causes it to return to an upright position if it is knocked over. This one is made to look like a Tanuki, the same creature you would have seen in Studio Ghibli\u2019s Pom Poko and the anime series \u2018The Eccentric Family\u2019. This item was hand made in Japan and is absolutely adorable.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNext up is our food item, with this packet of \u2018ochazuke\u2019 featuring Tanjiro and Nezuko from Demon Slayer. \u2018Ochazuke is a simple Japanese dish made by pouring green tea, dashi, or hot water over cooked rice. Ochazuke provides a good way to use leftover rice as a quick snack because this dish is easy to make.\u2019 This packet is in collaboration with Demon Slayer with its nori seaweed flavor and one of 18 collectable stickers inside the packet.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNext up is our Himouto! Umaru-chan item, in this incredibly vacuum packed pillow. This item features our main girl Lazy Umaru -chan as a super soft pillow. Made of \u2018mochi-mochi\u2019 material, making her very huggable, so you can just laze around with her and watch some anime. This series is a massive hit with everyone in the Nihon Box office, as they have said themselves that they have been wanting to include this franchise for quite some time.<\/span>\n\n\n\nOur figure for this month comes from the \u2018Kaguya-sama: Love is War\u2019 series, featuring Shinomiya Kaguya herself in her school outfit. This figure is from the Coreful Figure line from Taito, and features Shinomiya in her school uniform while placing a cute flower barrette in her hair! This figure was probably quite popular in the arcade machines in Japan when it was first released, its a good quality figure, sturdy base and has a simple, but elegant pose. Definitely one to buy for fans of the show.<\/span>\n\n\n\nAnd lastly we have the 1000 Yen Yatta Japan gift card, that can be used on their online store. However I must point out that these gift cards all expire at the end of 2021 and you can only use one per order over on their website. Something I only learned recently when placing my very first order. This month\u2019s topic was about the raccoon looking animal - tanuki. A native species to Japan, these animals have strong roots in Japanese mythology and even certain anime. Including the movie Pom Poko from Studio Ghibli. However the first thing he has to do is try and stop his funeral, so he can get back in his body again!<\/span>\n\nYu Yu Hakusho was already a fairly old series by the time I properly got into watching anime. Having debuted as a manga back in 1990, it was soon adapted into a 112 episode anime series by Studio Pierrot in 1992. Having gained popularity as a Shonen Jump series, fans of the ever popular Bleach series by Tite Kubo can easily spot where he got the influence for the franchise from. Yu Yu Hakusho follows a young teen named Yusuke, who ends up \u2018working\u2019 for the Spirit World after they restored his life following what should have been a fatal car crash. He is guided along the way by the grim reaper Botan, a young woman who resembles more of a pretty looking witch than the collector of souls. Over the space of season one we encounter many demons, some that even change their ways and work alongside Yusuke on some cases. With numerous brawls between human and demon opponents, Yusuke also gains some spiritual powers to help him out.<\/span>\n\nAs I mentioned above, Yusuke also gains some demon allies in the form of Kurama and Hiei. Both of which are incredibly strong opponents in their own right, with surprising backstories. Joining them will also be Botan and Yusuke\u2019s rival from school - Kazuma Kuwabara. A human born with some spiritual connection, in which he was able to even sense Yusuke\u2019s spirit when everyone believed he was dead. Now the character development in the show thus far in just Season One has been fantastic. I mean just within the first few episodes we see a kinder side to Yusuke, a teen who mostly everyone else has written off as just a delinquent. Even as he observes his wake at home, he is overcome by how much the few close people in his life are hurting. This show not only hits you square in the face with some powerful right hooks, but man it certainly doesn\u2019t hold any punches when it comes to those emotional scenes!<\/span>\n\n\n\nBonus Features:<\/span><\/strong>\n\n2x artcards packaged in a collector's slip case.<\/span>\nLooking Back at a Legacy is a 17 minute special feature, including some of the English Dub voice actors.<\/span>\n\nSo as I mentioned before, Yu Yu Hakusho began as a manga series back in 1990. Created by Yoshihiro Togashi, the same man behind Level E and Hunter x Hunter. Yu Yu Hakusho however ran for 19 volumes and was serialized in Weekly Sh\u00f3nen Jump, it is also available to read in full over on the Shonen Jump app. The anime adaptation was handled by Studio Pierrot, who also handled Naruto, Boruto, Tokyo Ghoul and Black Clover. Which ran for a whopping 112 episodes, followed by a 6 episode OVA in 1994 called Eizou Hakusho. Years later it was followed up with another 2 episode OVA called Two Shot & All or Nothing in 2018!     Hello everyone and welcome back to another subscription box review. Today I will be taking an indepth look into what was included in July's edition of Nihon Box. Which was filled to the brim, full of goodies you are sure to enjoy during those long summe<\/span>r days. So let's get started with the usual info.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Nihon Box is a Japanese monthly subscription service that handpicks at least 6 items each month that are almost exclusive to Japan and ships them straight to your door. Their items are a mixture of Otaku Anime related merchandise and figures, as well as traditional Japanese items, from sweets to tableware. All of this is available to subscribe to for what I find a very affordable price each month.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The first item this month is a beautiful Hatsune Miku Summer Matsuri PVC statue from Taito, measuring 18cm tall. This very colorful figure has so much going on in its design, that celebrates those famous summer festivals we have all seen in Japanese anime. This hologram diva is wearing a red, yellow and blue short yukata, with images of fireworks on one of her arm sleeves. Her accessories include a kitsune mask on her head, as well as a uchiwa hand fan in one hand and a candy apple (ringo ame) in the other. She is sure to make a great addition to the figure collection, which is ever growing thanks to these subscription boxes.     If you fancy mimicking Miku\u2019s design and getting in the matsuri spirit, then you will certainly enjoy this small uchiwa matsuri fan. This accessory is perfect for the summer weather, it's lightweight and portable. Allowing you to fan yourself with a slight cool breeze as you enjoy the summer, no matter where you are. This is a traditional hand fan that is still pretty popular and iconic to own today. At least you never have to worry about your small electric fan running out of power, when you own one of these.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Moving on, we have a serving tray, featuring the characters from \u2018The Quintessential Quintuplets\u2019. An anime that debuted from Tezuka Productions back in 2019. The series follows the daily life of a high school student Futaro Uesugi, who is hired as a private tutor for a group of identical quintuplets: Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki Nakano. At the very beginning of the story, it is indicated Futaro will marry one of the Nakano Quintuplets but the identity of the bride is unknown until near the end of the story. The design on this tray is of the five sisters as they stand together in their yukatas, as fireworks explode behind their heads. This manga series has become very popular as of late, so I am sure there are a few fans of this series already that will be thrilled with this bit of unexpected merch.<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    Now what is the best function of a tray, other than putting snacks on it?! So our next item this month is an Azuki flavour Taiyaki. Which is a common sight at festival food stalls. This fish-shaped sweet pastry dessert has a large filling of red bean paste (azuki). However the outer pastry tasted more like soft ice cream wafers, perhaps that might have been the impact of a long journey across the globe. Either way, I would assume this would taste better fresh.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba returns once again in our Nihon Box, as we get a blind box from the Fuwakororin range. This series has six different character designs, all appearing as a mini round plush. The one I received is our lead man - Tanjiro.<\/span><\/p>\n

    And now we get to our final item for Julys\u2019 box, which is an Assassination Classroom towel. Why you may ask? A tad random maybe? Well Japan is damn HOT in the Summer, even during the matsuri festivals. So a towel is always essential to have on hand, especially for those that may be working and performing during these festivals. This \u2018mini towel\u2019, although pretty large in my opinion as you can see above as I hung it up on a door for size comparison. It\u2019s bright yellow in color, with Koro Sensei\u2019s face in the middle, with the shows title at the bottom of the towel.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you haven\u2019t heard already, the anime is getting a revival and is already being aired in Japan. With it hitting the rest of the World on Netflix in the coming weeks if not, this very second as you are reading this! Just to remind people of that fact, Nihon Box has included a packet of \u2018Onsen Maju Shaman King Chocolates\u2019. Now I have had this brand of chocolate before, and they are so good! These ones are having a collaboration with Shaman King at the moment, to promote the new anime. Each chocolate is individually wrapped with a character from the show. A good snack to munch on as we all binge watch the new anime when it drops on Netflix.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNow we travel back to the 80\u2019s with a My Neighbour Totoro tumbler. Now I got this exact same item back in So Kawaiis October box last year, so I have since re-gifted this to a very happy little girl I know. This hard plastic tumbler comes in a forest green color, with characters and designs from the famous film printed around the entire cup. It can hold 500ml, has a screw on lid and a straw making it ideal to enjoy outside and not have to worry about any summer bugs getting in for a swim. I wouldn\u2019t be putting this in a dishwasher however, as you don\u2019t know if these things are heat treated. So in order to prevent any mishaps, I would suggest just strictly washing this by hand.<\/span>\n\n\n\nCarrying on with the 80\u2019s nostalgia trip, we received a rather large figure from Dragon Quest. The franchise is having another revival as a new anime - Dragon Quest: The Adventures of Dai hit screens just last year and is still currently airing. This has led to a new wave of new merch and figures being released, including this highly detailed figure of our main man Dai. In such a battle-ready pose, sword out and in the midst of a fight. All that's missing is a slain dragon or just a shonen worthy backdrop (something with a volcano exploiting seems appropriate). This figure deserves to be displayed and is sure to take up a nice section of your collection.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNow I may not recognise this show, but I\u2019m sure at least one of you will. Cat\u2019s Eye follows the story of three sisters who have become formidable art thieves, as they try to \u2018collect\u2019 all the works belonging to their missing father. This shows\u2019 artwork may seem familiar to some of you, as Cat\u2019s Eye is another manga creation from Tsukasa Hojo. The same manga artist behind City Hunter and Angel Heart. This canvas bag really does show off his art style, with the three Kisugi sisters taking centre stage. The bag has drawstrings on either side and can be worn as a backpack, but it also has a handle on the top if you just wish to carry it about. However the drawstrings have nowhere to be tidied away if you wish to do this. This bag could very well be seen as more as a collectors item or art piece, instead of being used as a gym bag.<\/span>\n\n\n\nThis next item is very unique, as its made of a material that I think could be unique to Japan. When I mention the word Tatami, do you imagine the traditional tea rooms and Geisha in Japan? Cause that is exactly what I envisage. Tatami was most commonly used as traditional flooring in Japanese homes, hence why you never wear your shoes inside the home and must wear either your socks or house slippers. In recent times, tatami rooms and flooring have become more uncommon and are rarely featured now in modern house designs. As such the tradition is slowly dying and craftsmen have turned their time into making smaller items out of tatami. Such as the above Tatami pouch, which is from the igusa (common rush) plant, which is used in the making of traditional tatami flooring. This is a truly unique item, something I have actually never seen or even heard of before. As I just believed that tatami was just flooring. I never realised they could also be made into other items.<\/span>\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are now onto our final item and of course it is from a very popular series that I assure you all know - Dragon Ball! The infamous Shonen Jump title from Akira Toriyama, first debuted back as a manga in 1984, with the anime first hitting screens just two years later. The show has grown from strength to strength, making it an incredible and ever growing franchise. Having built up an audience over the decades, constantly gathering new viewers. So our final item for June\u2019s box is a mystery box from the Dragon Ball Adverge collection. A series of minifigures, featuring seven of the most iconic characters from the shows Namek Saga. Including not only Goku, Gohan, Piccolo and Vegeta, but also Frieza and two of his henchmen Dodoria and Zarbon. Pretty happy to say I got Freiza, who looks completely badass in his floating chair. Now these figures are very mini, they each come with a tiny dragon ball, which has no stand so it will get lost very quickly. So just be very aware of that, in case a little one or pet decides to pick it up.     So let\u2019s begin with our first item this month! Straight to the kettle we go with this Dr. Stone mug, the ideal size for a quick cuppa tea in the mornings. Dr. Stone first hit screens back in 2019 with the first season of its anime, season two finished airing in March of this year so people are still pretty hyped for this show. The plot follows a high school student named Senku, wise beyond his years, has a can-do attitude and is fascinated with science. Something that will certainly stand to him and the remaining survivors of mankind, when a sudden and mysterious event takes place that petrifies all of humankind into stone for thousands of years. It\u2019s down to Senku and a number of other teenagers who broke free, to set about fast-tracking their way back to 21st century society. It\u2019s a show well worth checking out, as its available to stream now over on Funimation and Crunchyroll. Physical release is handled by Manga Entertainment UK.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Our second item is one I am very excited about, as we get a porcelain mini samurai helmet. You can\u2019t get more Japanese, than a Samurai ornament! This small display item is usually used as a decoration item during Kodomo no hi<\/em>, a traditional holiday that celebrates children which takes place on the 5th of May. Japan is steeped in tradition as you well know, and there is a lot of history involving samurai. I would advise looking it up in your own time if you are interested. This item however is perfect as a holiday souvenir or gift. How would you display this Samurai mini helmet in your home?<\/span><\/p>\n

    We return once again to another anime related item, with this mini Cells At Work plush. Now I haven\u2019t seen this anime, so I have no idea as to what it is actually about. From the look of it though, I would guess that the plot is fairly similar to the 2001 film - Osmosis Jones. Where cells in the body are sentient and with \u2018lives\u2019 of their own, fight against any foreign viruses or illnesses that enter the body they live in. The inner workings of the human body I guess, how very relatable to the World these past 18months. The plush is of one of the main characters - White Cell. This miniature plush will have no trouble finding a space to live within your plushie collection.<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    Now for a short snack break, as I sit back and inhale these two delicious Dekopon Monaka. These pastries are known as wagashi treats in Japan, which are small savoury treats that are usually paired well with green tea. The flavor was quite nice, as it had a rather generous dekopon filling. With a very homemade jam-like texture, dekopon are a citrus fruit that are quite similar to an orange. Sandwiching this filling together, are two small waffles. Very similar in taste and texture to a pair of ice cream wafers. An interesting treat, pleasant taste but not too sure about the waffles. They were a bit too crumbly and messy to eat.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Back now to another anime item, this time from the show Black Clover. This anime has been doing very well for itself since its debut back in 2017. With a total of 170 episodes in all and an anime film currently in the works, it has gathered quite a following of fans. With new merch continuously being released, it stands as another Shonen Jump long standing franchise. The item we received was a medium sized zip pouch featuring all of the members of the Black Bull Squad, including the shows main man Asta. A fairly roomy pouch inside, plenty of space for all those coins you will need for the arcades. Can also work as a make up punch, pencil case, purse, whatever you can cram inside really. Its a nice design on the front, with a strong zip but due to the way the pouch was made the image can be a little lackluster and almost looks like it was bought straight from ebay. That\u2019s my own opinion however, others might find more value in this than me.<\/span><\/p>\n

    ,The final item in May's box that everyone received, is this figure from \u2018Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun\u2019. Now this is another anime that I am fairly unfamiliar with, but going by the plot over on its Wikipedia page - it seems like a rather fun show. With Season One of the anime first debuted back in 2019, Season Two is currently airing as we speak. The plot follows a human teenage boy named Iruma Suzuki, who is sold by his parents to a demon. How he finds himself in the demon world, adopted by the same demon he was sold to and is now enrolled in the demon school his new \u2018demon grandfather\u2019 runs. Only trouble is, he can never reveal that he\u2019s human - as he will be quickly devoured by all his classmates. So the figure we all received in this box was of the lead character Iruma and his friend Mofuego - who I can\u2019t seem to find any information on online. Its a rather large figure of Iruma, well made, sturdy and definitely well painted. Can see no faults with it at all, definitely added to the overall value of the box. The figure could be hitting a niche portion of anime fans, as I believe that this anime hasn\u2019t gotten much advertising to western audiences yet.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Now if you are a regular subscriber to Nihon Box, you are well aware of the added bonus item you receive for free every three months. May must have been my month, as I received a mystery bonus item from Square Enix (pictured above). Its a rather cute acrylic character set, the problem is I have no idea what this is from. As people pass by paying no attention to them, the whole City will stop to hear them play one day, as Carole and Tuesday meet for the very first time. A series about following your passion, letting the music guide you and working hard to make it big in the music industry as musicians who create their own melodies and lyrics from scratch - a rarity in their time. This series is perfect for all you music lovers, as it promotes so many genres as well as giving some sort of insight into the music industry. Carole & Tuesdays\u2019 lyrics are sure to stay with you for a very long time.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Well this was a complete surprise, I began watching this show fully expecting a happy go lucky series with little to no depth. Well I was gladly mistaken, as Carole & Tuesday had character development, plot and soundtracks that would stand out miles above many other and more well known shows out there. It actually felt like this could very easily be adapted into a live action, TV drama. Going from the initial poster, you wouldn't think these two girls had very much in common and perhaps they wouldn't have if it wasn't for their music. Both are driven to make this duo work, even upon their first night meeting all they wished to do was make a song together. It was like an instant friendship between the pair. The idea seemed a bit forced at the start, but shows like this only get better as episodes progress - it just needed that forced kickstart to get it going.<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    So let's begin with Tuesday, the pretty little white girl who ran away from home (a big ass mansion I might add) with her expensive Gibson guitar. Leaving her cushy lifestyle and political campaign focussed mother behind, Tuesday makes her way to Alba City (a play on Alba Records I presume) in order to pursue her music. However this girl has no idea just how to survive on her own, so luckily for her she runs into a kind hearted girl playing her keyboard on the bridge to passers by. And here we meet Carole, an orphan and refugee from Planet Earth - (oh by the way people, this show takes place on Mars. Yeah, its fairly futuristic and metropolitan, but of course there are massive wealth divisions between the people living on Mars.) Carole wants to have a music career and was just missing someone as talented as Tuesday by her side to make it. Carole is completely down to earth, hard working and driven. Together these two girls make some positive waves in the industry as they work their way up. However they also have their own rivals along the way.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Carole & Tuesdays music career gets a massive boost from a viral video of them practising a new song they wrote in a local venue, which they didn't \u2018exactly\u2019 have permission to use. As their performance and escape goes viral, the girls soon get the attention of an experienced but out of practice agent. This series has countless high points, each episode was memorable in its own way. Whether for the original songs, the covers, the episode names, down to the performances in each episode - its truly captivating at times. The character development and plot could have just been a show all on its own, even without the incredible soundtrack. As we have Tuesday and her family drama with her mother running for President. Promoting a campaign that would see all refugees being sent back to Earth. A campaign that would also see Carole being directly affected. Carole is more focussed on her career, has survived this long in life without knowing her parents. Something that is later explored and very tastefully done in my opinion. With their newfound fame, it quickly attracted those that only wanted to be near her for whatever money and fame she had gotten. The dark side of humanity definitely showed its ugly head one or two times throughout the show.<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    The most interesting arc in this show came from when the girls were entered into a Singing Competition called \u2018Mars Brightest\u2019. Here they met and competed against Angela, a fashion model wanting to transition into music. This girl has a whole character plot of her own, one that ended up being far more complex and captivating than Carole & Tuesday's storylines! And Angela was only one of the other contestants, each character in this show had their own impact on the overall experience. They each brought something to the overall plot. There are some terribly sad moments, but they add to the impact the show leaves on you. Layering that on top of an incredible music score, well that shit is going to stay with me for years to come. The only thing I wish was that this show had gotten a physical release from one of the UK\u2019s Anime Distributors instead of Netflix. I would even settle for just a Vinyl of the shows soundtrack, as at the moment I just have a YouTube playlist to go from.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u2018Carole & Tuesday\u2019 is available in a number of language audios over on Netflix, including French, German, Japanese and English. I personally watched it in English and it was a very good dub, the songs were just beautiful. This series ran for 24 episodes and was created by studio BONES in commemoration of the studio's 20th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of record label FlyingDog. The series had two directors, including the infamous Shinichir\u00f3 Watanabe. Widely known for his anime works including Cowboy Bebop, Space Dandy and Kids on the Slope. Our second director was Motonobu Hori, who has had an extensive career and has done numerous jobs across titles including Steamboy, Spirited Away, BECK, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc trilogy and Napping Princess.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Hello everyone and welcome back to another Nihon Box review, where today I take a look at what was included in November's box. So sit back and enjoy this Autumn season themed box. But first, a quick word about Nihon Box. The Anime and Japanese culture subscription box, with details on how you can sign up for your very own subscription.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Nihon Box is a Japanese monthly subscription service that handpicks at least 6 items each month that are almost exclusive to Japan and ships them straight to your door. Their items are a mixture of Otaku Anime related merchandise and figures, as well as traditional Japanese items, from sweets to tableware. All of this is available to subscribe to monthly, just keep reading along to see just how affordable it can be.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Like SoKawaii, the more months you pay upfront the cheaper the price for individual boxes will be. <\/span>https:\/\/www.nihonbox.com\/en<\/a><\/p>\n

    Monthly is \u20ac29.99 plus shipping costs<\/span><\/p>\n

    3 Months is a single payment of \u20ac86.97, making each box \u20ac28.99, plus shipping costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

    6 Months is a single payment of \u20ac170.94, making each box \u20ac28.49, plus shipping costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Due to the latest European VAT legislation, the overall cost after shipping has increased slightly. The folks behind Nihon Box have done all they can to make this transition as simple as possible, so they have taken the necessary steps & changes in order to include the VAT directly in the subscription\u2019s price. This change will normally be effective starting from the next renewal of your subscription, with the addition of the VAT in the final price (19% for Germany). And from August of this year, as a small gift of appreciation to their overseas customers they will be including a 1000yen gift card to their YattaJapan.com store. As an idea of how much the charge has gone up, prior to August I was paying \u20ac32.89 a month. The new price I pay now is \u20ac40.45 a month, which is a nice increase but I believe the value is still there within the box. Now once it arrived in Ireland, I have been charged customs through An Post. Totalling just under \u20ac9euro the first month, with this particular box being around the \u20ac10 mark on top of the \u20ac40.45 I pay each month, making this a rather expensive price hike in the end. However this is all due to inflation and the recent customs changes within the EU, whilst Nihon Box is still cramming in as much value into the box as possible from their side.<\/span><\/p>\n

    So let\u2019s get started with the first item from November\u2019s box, with this beautiful \u2018Aki in Japan\u2019 furoshiki. This piece of fabric is traditionally used to wrap up your bento or a gift, which is very eco friendly due to its reusability. Personally I will be using this as a decorative piece, although I haven\u2019t decided how to as of yet. This particular furoshiki was made in collaboration with a professional craftsman in Kyoto, who has been doing this for the past fifty years. The design is based off of an Autumn scene featuring Mount Fuji in the background of a shrine.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Our next item this month is for all you Inuyasha fans out there, with this Sessh\u00f3maru noodle stopper figure. This boy has a bit of weight to him, that keeps him perfectly balanced when sitting on the edge of a shelf or indeed a Cup Ramen. This series of noodle stopper figures always have such unique poses, this one is no different. It\u2019s well crafted, skillfully designed and indeed well painted. It can join my other Inuyasha noodle stopper on the shelf, which was included in September's Nihon Box from 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    We now move onto a slightly more recent anime franchise, with Haikyuu! This series follows a high school volleyball team as they compete in local matches, all the way up to nationals in order to repair their reputation with the assistance of a pair of talented new players. This series has a massive fanbase and Nihon Box has included it in this box with a Hug Chara Collection figure. This series of small plushies, are very cute but also useful. As within the arms will be a strong bull clip, which you can open and close by using the legs. With six characters to collect, every box will receive the main character of Sh\u00f3y\u00f3 Hinata.<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    We now move on to yet another Shonen Jump franchise with Hunter x Hunter. This franchise first began back in 1998 but has been on hiatus since 2018, but still carries a strong fan base. Due to this, it has been included with this Figurine Fuchipito collection from Re-Ment. With six characters to collect, these small detailed figures each have their unique pose and sit on top of a wooden box. Like the Noodle Stopper series, they are also designed to sit on the edge of shelves, die to how well they are balanced.<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    Our snack item for this month is the Kurobou Meimon. A traditional sweet and specialty of the city of Kurume, from the Fukuoka prefecture. Made from brown sugar, it carries its own unique taste that is unlike anything I have tried here in Ireland. It may not be for everyone's palette, as I didn\u2019t find myself going back very quickly to finish the second one in the package.<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    So let\u2019s begin with the item on the left, which is a loyalty item bonus that you receive several times during the year when you have a continuous subscription. It is always a delight to see what might be included for free every quarter. This time, it was a small keychain plush from the FairyTail and Mameshiba collab, but I can not seem to find when this is from so it may be an old release. It\u2019s an interesting item no doubt and a collaboration I never would have put together, but it kind of works. It\u2019s cute, right?!<\/span><\/p>\n

    On the right, is our new regular to every Nihon Box - a 1000 Yen gift card for their side company \u2018Yatta Japan\u2019. This time, the gift card is valid until next Summer. However at the moment, it doesn't appear to be a good time ordering from their website as the delivery option pricing is through the roof! At least for Ireland it is, no way I want to pay over \u20ac40 in shipping for items that barely come to \u20ac20. Fingers crossed they manage to sort this out in the new year, as I would prefer some economy shipping at least.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Our last anime related item of the box is the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba item pictured above. Which is known as an Eco Kairo in Japan, otherwise known as a reusable pocket hand warmer. I have not seen these items in years, not since I was in school. There is a gel inside that heats up as soon as a metal tab inside is broken, it just causes a chain reaction. In order to reuse it again, you just place it inside a kitchen cloth and then in boiling water. Within five minutes it will have returned to its original state, ready to be used again. Perfect for the current cold season. This is available in 10 character designs, all with their own unique backgrounds. Also in time for the latest season of Demon Slayer, which has just started airing over on Funimation And Crunchyroll.<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    And now onto our final item this month, with these Ukiyo-e coasters. This is a set of four coasters, traditionally made with washi paper. They feature images from four of the most famous Ukiyo-e paintings, including Kabuki (by Kunisada Utagawa), Meisho Hakkei (by Toyokuni Utagawa), Aka Fuji (by Hokusai Katsushika) and Two Women ( by Kitagawa Utamaro). All made by a company that has been specializing in washi paper for over 90 years. It is a shame however that neither the name of the company or any links to their work is never listed in the brochure. Hopefully they can add this information for future boxes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although he has some decent grades, he is disliked by fellow students for his otaku interests. Although he is a recluse, his only friend in the World is his classmate Y\u00fato It\u00f3 who is a bit of an oddball himself. These two boys have resigned themselves to believing they could never get a 3-D girlfriend and have instead dedicated themselves to anime. However, by pure chance one day, Tsutsui is late to class and is sentenced to pool cleaning duty. He is not alone however, as he is paired up with the beautiful but the schools most talked about girl - Iroha Igarashi. Through just this single interaction, their lives become intertwined forever as the love story behind Real Girl<\/em> begins.<\/span>\n\nOkay okay, I wasn\u2019t expecting much out of this show at the beginning but wow! It hit me right in the feels in the last couple of episodes! This high school romance had its ups and downs, its misunderstandings and surprises, it\u2019s far from your typical rom-com anime series. This show had deapt, so I can only imagine how good the source material was in the manga. Tsutsui is your classic teenage otaku, who prefers his own company and is incredibly awkward when it comes to interacting with \u2018real people\u2019. He does however have a best friend in It\u00f3, who has his own unique interests. It\u2019s no wonder these two had become social outcasts in high schools. However high school kids can be incredibly harsh, as all these characters are in and around 18 years old. It\u2019s not only the \u2018nerds\u2019 being bullied, but even the gorgeous Iroha who has been labelled as the \u2018school slut\u2019. The pairing is almost unimaginable, but it really works. Both Tsutsui and Iroha take their new found relationship very seriously and it changes them both for the better.<\/span>\n\nHowever there is always a catch, Iroha announces to Tsutsui that she only has another six months in this school before she transfers. They make the most of their time together, Tsutsui has difficulty expressing and understanding emotions so there are the odd misunderstandings. Iroha does all she can to improve Tsutsui\u2019s impression of himself and build his self confidence, which has a number of setbacks due to him not entirely believing her words at times. And like all great shows, there is just another massive plot twist near the end of the show. One that was utterly heartbreaking, yet with all that happens, the character development, actions, emotions - it was all utterly believable. I have to admit though, I did shead the odd tear or two during the finale episode!<\/span>\n\n\u2018Real Girl\u2019 (Riaru G\u00e1ru) first began as a sh\u00f3jo manga series by mangaka Mao Nanami back in 2011. Having completed with a total of 12 volumes in 2016, it has been published in English by Kodansha comics. However I have only been able to find the first six volumes in print, the entire series however is available to buy digitally.<\/span>\n\nIt wasn\u2019t until the manga series had ended for quite some time, was this 24 episode anime adaption released in 2018 from studio - Hoods Entertainment. This animation studio is still rather new having founded in 2009, but have since done a number of animes including Mysterious Girlfriend X and Drifters, under the name Hoods Drifters Studio. If that wasn\u2019t enough, there was also a live action film adaption released in 2018 under the name \u201c3D Kanojo Riaru G\u0101ru\u201d<\/span>\n\nBonus Features Include:<\/span>\n

      Natsuo Fuji is just your typical high school boy, who has a massive crush on his teacher Ms Tachibana. Since there is zero chance he will ever get to go out with her, he agrees to attend a mixer with his friends in order to meet some cute girls. Whilst out he gets talking to Rui, a quiet but straight talking girl who persuades him to follow her home to do the \u2018deed\u2019. Thinking that they will never see one another again, Natsuo returns home to the news that his widowed father is getting remarried and she is on the way over with her two daughters - Rui and Ms Hina Tachibana. Let this chaotic new family dynamic begin, as Natsuo must learn to live with the woman he lost his virginity to and the one he wishes he could sleep with!<\/span><\/p>\n

      Well this is an anime that is just filled with drama and questions around romance within blended families and the morals that surround them. It initially began as Natuso having a long standing crush for his teacher Ms Hina Tachibana. In order to try and get past his one sided romance, he ended up sleeping with Rui, who inevitably ended up being the teacher's younger sister. As fate would have it, they all ended up under the one roof when their single parents remarried thus creating this incredibly complicated family. Following the initial revelation, the show then turns direction into Natuso and Rui keeping their first \u2018encounter\u2019 a secret from everyone and Natsuo also trying to resist all urges to pounce on Hina. The story further develops when Hina\u2019s secret relationship is exposed, Natsuo acts upon his feelings, Hina attempts to play the older sister and obviously Rui ends up transferring to the same school.<\/span><\/p>\n

      So there is clearly a reason this show is marked as an 18 classification, both for the nature of the story and the numerous naked scenes included. It\u2019s a pretty raunchy show at times and has a pretty narrow audience, however even though the premise of the show will be too much for many people to overlook - the character development, plot progression and the overall conclusion of the show is pretty well thought out! I can not falter the script whatsoever, it always keeps both feet in reality with its character reactions and inevitable consequences. We see the challenges that come about when step siblings develop romantic feelings for one another, normal high school antics, a school trip and even Natsuo thinking about his career as he throws himself back into his writing again towards the end thanks to the members of the Literature Club. Hina on the other hand is walking a tightrope, as her relationship to a married man is exposed and later we see how the cycle is repeating itself once more when the origins of which are revealed. With Hina now in the opposite role, her career ends on a cliff edge as well when a picture of her school trip antics lands on the Principal's desk. Its an inevitable conclusion to the series, a sad one at that but one that is more realistic than the hopeful happily ever after many would have been expecting from the series. As to if the anime\u2019s ending is the same as how the manga series ended, I\u2019m unsure as the manga concluded over a year after the anime did.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Speaking of which, the manga was created by Kei Sasuga, the same author behind the one shot harem romance \u2018GE - Good Ending\u2019. The \u2018Domestic Girlfriend\u2019 manga ran in Weekly Sh\u00f3nen Magazine from 2014 upto just last year in 2020, with a total of 28 volumes released with 11 extra chapters bundled together in one last volume. The English translation is being handled by Kodansha USA, with the volumes only being available in a digital format. The anime adaptation was then aired in 2019, with a total of 12 episodes all handled by studio Diomed\u00e9a. The same studio behind \u2018My Girlfriend is Shobitch\u2019, \u2018Girlish Number\u2019, \u2018Squid Girl\u2019 and \u2018Problem Children Are Coming From Another World, Aren\u2019t They?\u2019. This anime release is being handled by the dedicated team over at MVM Entertainment, giving it a BluRay only release.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Although this anime\u2019s plot is far from family friendly or aimed at casual anime viewers, it is still worth a watch for those that are willing to give the show a chance. The character development and interactions involved are rooted in a reality on par with our own, where actions such as student\/pupil relationships are met with dire consequences. No magic, adventure, epic battles or quests, just a show that dives into a plausible scenario where a student ends up with two step sisters and a romantic love triangle ensues. \u2018Domestic Girlfriend\u2019 is available now from MVM Entertainment as a BluRay only.<\/span><\/p>\n

The local haunted hot springs, home to a number of interesting female residents and a ghost named Yuuna. Determined to help Yuuna move onto the afterlife before her spirit turns evil, Kogarashi moves in and helps to break any ties Yuuna has to this life. Trouble is, it\u2019s not going to be that simple!<\/span>\n\nWelcome back everyone to another anime harem, this time of the supernatural kind. So \u2018Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs\u2019 is a romantic comedy series, featuring a teenage boy who can interact with ghosts, ghouls, Gods etc. He wanders into a town famous for their hot springs, only to end up at Yuragi Inn due to their insanely cheap rent. There he meets the innkeeper Chitose Nakai, a woman who looks more like a middle schooler but is instead the one running the inn. She has a number of female borders, including Sagiri from a demon-slayin ninja clan, Yaya a timid girl who acts as the vessel for a Cat God and Nonko a famous manga author who is always hardly dressed, mostly drunk and always horny. And that is before you meet the resident ghost - Yuuna. Whose back story includes her dying one night in this very same hot springs resort, whilst on a school trip. So it\u2019s definitely a cast of lively characters to say the least. Thus far, its an interesting mix of personalities, so let\u2019s get down to the story aspect.<\/span>\n\nSo like I mentioned Yuuna once died at this Inn, thus tying her ghost to this resort. Now I am not entirely certain as to how long she has been dead, but I would say it has definitely been more than a decade. As to how she died, well that is still a bit of a mystery. One that I was hoping was going to be resolved in this season. However we are still none the wiser by the end of it.This anime finished airing in 2018, compared to the manga that only finished up just last Summer in June 2020. So there is some hope that we may get a season two.<\/span>\n\nNow Yuuna has a ditzy personality, she floats in her sleep, tends to lose her clothes very easily and also navigates towards Kogarashi\u2019s sleeping body every night. Resulting in him always waking up to some shocking scenes, closely followed by shocked screams and a nice morning dunk in the surrounding river outside the Inn. The comedy aspect is strong in this show, but so is the action. We have a number of supernatural monsters, creatures, encounters and even deities in this show. Apart from the action and comedy aspect, there are some touching moments - uncensored and uncut of course, wink wink. As well as some emotional scenes, some character developments, some backstories and the inevitable - rescue the ghost girl from the Black Dragon God.<\/span>\n\nBonus Features Include:<\/span><\/strong>\n\nSurprisingly, none whatsoever.<\/span>\n\nNo trailers<\/span>\n\nNo clean opening or closing credits<\/span>\n\nNo interviews<\/span>\n\nAnd certainly no OVA\u2019s<\/span>\n\nYuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs (Yuragi-s\u014d no Y\u016bna-san) was created by Japanese mangaka Tadahiro Miura. The supernatural, harem comedy was serialized in Weekly Sh\u00f3nen Jump from 2016 to 2020, with a total of 24 volumes released. The English translation and release was handled by Seven Seas Entertainment. The manga was first adapted into a four episode OVA series from studios Xebec and Singal.MD, none of which was included in this BluRay release. It was then adapted into this 12 episode series, once again by Xebec and the same director back in 2018. This was amongst one of the last productions ever to be released by studio Xebec, before they closed in 2019. The studio was most well known for their work on Martian Successor Nadesico, Love Hina, the original Shaman King and D. N. Angel. This BluRay release is being handled by MVM Entertainment, but is seriously lacking in the extras department. However it is still a solid stand alone series, but just could not be recommended for people that enjoy a good, complete ending. As you may have guessed from the title above, today I am taking a look into what was included in the September edition of Nihon Box. Which ran with the theme of \u2018Teens Power\u2019, with items from such hit anime shows including Demon Slayer, Bleach, Tokyo Revengers and Kaguya Sama: Love is War. So let\u2019s get the ball rolling with our usual Nihon Box infomercial.<\/span>\n\nNihon Box is a Japanese monthly subscription service that handpicks at least 6 items each month that are almost exclusive to Japan and ships them straight to your door. Their items are a mixture of Otaku Anime related merchandise and figures, as well as traditional Japanese items, from sweets to tableware. All of this is available to subscribe to for what I find a very affordable price each month.<\/span>\n\nLike SoKawaii, the more months you pay upfront the cheaper the price for individual boxes will be.<\/span> https:\/\/www.nihonbox.com\/en<\/a>\n\nMonthly is \u20ac29.99 plus shipping costs<\/span>\n\n3 Months is a single payment of \u20ac86.97, making each box \u20ac28.99, plus shipping costs.<\/span>\n\n6 Months is a single payment of \u20ac170.94, making each box \u20ac28.49, plus shipping costs.<\/span>\n\nDue to the latest European VAT legislation, the overall cost after shipping has increased slightly. The show focused around Ichigo Kurosaki, who became a substitute Soul Reaper in order to save his family. Many of you would be very well versed in the happenings of this show, and rightly so! It is also about to make a comeback in the not too distant future, as they will be adapting the final arc of the manga - the \u2018Thousand Year Blood War\u2019. So in order to help us all cope with the franchise about to reach its final anime conclusion, Nihon Box has included this tissue box cover with Ichigo and Rukia on the front.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNext up is this bamboo fibre cup, featuring the main characters from the latest hit anime - \u2018Tokyo Revengers\u2019. An anime that features the lead character travelling backwards in time in order to save his friends from their untimely deaths and thus change the future for the better. Kind of sounds like Steins: Gate, but with middle school kids and a street gang. I have yet to start this show, but let me know in the comments below if my description was even close to the truth. Anyway this cup could either be used as such or simply as a bit of decoration, you choose. They have even hinted in the leaflet this month that Tokyo Revengers may be making a return in future boxes.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNow we move on to the traditional Japanese item for this month, with a \u2018Tanuki Okiagari-Koboshi\u2019. The Okiagari-Koboshi (\u8d77\u304d\u4e0a\u304c\u308a\u5c0f\u6cd5\u5e2b, getting-up little boy) is a Japanese traditional doll. The toy is made from papier-m\u00e2ch\u00e9 and is a roly-poly toy, designed so that its weight causes it to return to an upright position if it is knocked over. This one is made to look like a Tanuki, the same creature you would have seen in Studio Ghibli\u2019s Pom Poko and the anime series \u2018The Eccentric Family\u2019. This item was hand made in Japan and is absolutely adorable.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNext up is our food item, with this packet of \u2018ochazuke\u2019 featuring Tanjiro and Nezuko from Demon Slayer. \u2018Ochazuke is a simple Japanese dish made by pouring green tea, dashi, or hot water over cooked rice. Ochazuke provides a good way to use leftover rice as a quick snack because this dish is easy to make.\u2019 This packet is in collaboration with Demon Slayer with its nori seaweed flavor and one of 18 collectable stickers inside the packet.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNext up is our Himouto! Umaru-chan item, in this incredibly vacuum packed pillow. This item features our main girl Lazy Umaru -chan as a super soft pillow. Made of \u2018mochi-mochi\u2019 material, making her very huggable, so you can just laze around with her and watch some anime. This series is a massive hit with everyone in the Nihon Box office, as they have said themselves that they have been wanting to include this franchise for quite some time.<\/span>\n\n\n\nOur figure for this month comes from the \u2018Kaguya-sama: Love is War\u2019 series, featuring Shinomiya Kaguya herself in her school outfit. This figure is from the Coreful Figure line from Taito, and features Shinomiya in her school uniform while placing a cute flower barrette in her hair! This figure was probably quite popular in the arcade machines in Japan when it was first released, its a good quality figure, sturdy base and has a simple, but elegant pose. Definitely one to buy for fans of the show.<\/span>\n\n\n\nAnd lastly we have the 1000 Yen Yatta Japan gift card, that can be used on their online store. However I must point out that these gift cards all expire at the end of 2021 and you can only use one per order over on their website. Something I only learned recently when placing my very first order. Unfortunately for Yusuke, his own good deed of looking out for a young boy playing by a busy road - ends up killing him! Instead of landing up in heaven, he is given a second chance of life by the Spirit World. All he has to do is become the Underworld Detective and solve the many cases involving demons and apparitions that appear in the human world. However the first thing he has to do is try and stop his funeral, so he can get back in his body again!<\/span>\n\nYu Yu Hakusho was already a fairly old series by the time I properly got into watching anime. Having debuted as a manga back in 1990, it was soon adapted into a 112 episode anime series by Studio Pierrot in 1992. Having gained popularity as a Shonen Jump series, fans of the ever popular Bleach series by Tite Kubo can easily spot where he got the influence for the franchise from. Yu Yu Hakusho follows a young teen named Yusuke, who ends up \u2018working\u2019 for the Spirit World after they restored his life following what should have been a fatal car crash. He is guided along the way by the grim reaper Botan, a young woman who resembles more of a pretty looking witch than the collector of souls. Over the space of season one we encounter many demons, some that even change their ways and work alongside Yusuke on some cases. With numerous brawls between human and demon opponents, Yusuke also gains some spiritual powers to help him out.<\/span>\n\nAs I mentioned above, Yusuke also gains some demon allies in the form of Kurama and Hiei. Both of which are incredibly strong opponents in their own right, with surprising backstories. Joining them will also be Botan and Yusuke\u2019s rival from school - Kazuma Kuwabara. A human born with some spiritual connection, in which he was able to even sense Yusuke\u2019s spirit when everyone believed he was dead. Now the character development in the show thus far in just Season One has been fantastic. I mean just within the first few episodes we see a kinder side to Yusuke, a teen who mostly everyone else has written off as just a delinquent. Even as he observes his wake at home, he is overcome by how much the few close people in his life are hurting. This show not only hits you square in the face with some powerful right hooks, but man it certainly doesn\u2019t hold any punches when it comes to those emotional scenes!<\/span>\n\n\n\nBonus Features:<\/span><\/strong>\n\n2x artcards packaged in a collector's slip case.<\/span>\nLooking Back at a Legacy is a 17 minute special feature, including some of the English Dub voice actors.<\/span>\n\nSo as I mentioned before, Yu Yu Hakusho began as a manga series back in 1990. Created by Yoshihiro Togashi, the same man behind Level E and Hunter x Hunter. Yu Yu Hakusho however ran for 19 volumes and was serialized in Weekly Sh\u00f3nen Jump, it is also available to read in full over on the Shonen Jump app. The anime adaptation was handled by Studio Pierrot, who also handled Naruto, Boruto, Tokyo Ghoul and Black Clover. Which ran for a whopping 112 episodes, followed by a 6 episode OVA in 1994 called Eizou Hakusho. Years later it was followed up with another 2 episode OVA called Two Shot & All or Nothing in 2018! There were also two anime films that came out in \u201893 and \u201894.<\/span>\n\nYu Yu Hakusho: Season One was full of action from start to finish.         Hello everyone and welcome back to another subscription box review. Today I will be taking an indepth look into what was included in July's edition of Nihon Box. Which was filled to the brim, full of goodies you are sure to enjoy during those long summe<\/span>r days. So let's get started with the usual info.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Nihon Box is a Japanese monthly subscription service that handpicks at least 6 items each month that are almost exclusive to Japan and ships them straight to your door. Their items are a mixture of Otaku Anime related merchandise and figures, as well as traditional Japanese items, from sweets to tableware.         Due to the latest European VAT legislation, the overall cost after shipping has increased slightly. The folks behind Nihon Box have done all they can to make this transition as simple as possible, so they have taken the necessary steps & changes in order to include the VAT directly in the subscription\u2019s price. This change will normally be effective starting from the next renewal of your subscription, with the addition of the VAT in the final price (19% for Germany).         The first item this month is a beautiful Hatsune Miku Summer Matsuri PVC statue from Taito, measuring 18cm tall. This very colorful figure has so much going on in its design, that celebrates those famous summer festivals we have all seen in Japanese anime. This hologram diva is wearing a red, yellow and blue short yukata, with images of fireworks on one of her arm sleeves. Her accessories include a kitsune mask on her head, as well as a uchiwa hand fan in one hand and a candy apple (ringo ame) in the other. She is sure to make a great addition to the figure collection, which is ever growing thanks to these subscription boxes.         If you fancy mimicking Miku\u2019s design and getting in the matsuri spirit, then you will certainly enjoy this small uchiwa matsuri fan. This accessory is perfect for the summer weather, it's lightweight and portable. Allowing you to fan yourself with a slight cool breeze as you enjoy the summer, no matter where you are. This is a traditional hand fan that is still pretty popular and iconic to own today. At least you never have to worry about your small electric fan running out of power, when you own one of these.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Moving on, we have a serving tray, featuring the characters from \u2018The Quintessential Quintuplets\u2019. An anime that debuted from Tezuka Productions back in 2019. The series follows the daily life of a high school student Futaro Uesugi, who is hired as a private tutor for a group of identical quintuplets: Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki Nakano. At the very beginning of the story, it is indicated Futaro will marry one of the Nakano Quintuplets but the identity of the bride is unknown until near the end of the story. The design on this tray is of the five sisters as they stand together in their yukatas, as fireworks explode behind their heads. This manga series has become very popular as of late, so I am sure there are a few fans of this series already that will be thrilled with this bit of unexpected merch.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        Now what is the best function of a tray, other than putting snacks on it?! So our next item this month is an Azuki flavour Taiyaki. Which is a common sight at festival food stalls. This fish-shaped sweet pastry dessert has a large filling of red bean paste (azuki). However the outer pastry tasted more like soft ice cream wafers, perhaps that might have been the impact of a long journey across the globe. Either way, I would assume this would taste better fresh.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba returns once again in our Nihon Box, as we get a blind box from the Fuwakororin range. This series has six different character designs, all appearing as a mini round plush. The one I received is our lead man - Tanjiro.<\/span><\/p>\n

        And now we get to our final item for Julys\u2019 box, which is an Assassination Classroom towel. Why you may ask? A tad random maybe? Well Japan is damn HOT in the Summer, even during the matsuri festivals. So a towel is always essential to have on hand, especially for those that may be working and performing during these festivals. This \u2018mini towel\u2019, although pretty large in my opinion as you can see above as I hung it up on a door for size comparison. It\u2019s bright yellow in color, with Koro Sensei\u2019s face in the middle, with the shows title at the bottom of the towel.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you haven\u2019t heard already, the anime is getting a revival and is already being aired in Japan. With it hitting the rest of the World on Netflix in the coming weeks if not, this very second as you are reading this! Just to remind people of that fact, Nihon Box has included a packet of \u2018Onsen Maju Shaman King Chocolates\u2019. Now I have had this brand of chocolate before, and they are so good! These ones are having a collaboration with Shaman King at the moment, to promote the new anime. Each chocolate is individually wrapped with a character from the show. A good snack to munch on as we all binge watch the new anime when it drops on Netflix.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNow we travel back to the 80\u2019s with a My Neighbour Totoro tumbler. Now I got this exact same item back in So Kawaiis October box last year, so I have since re-gifted this to a very happy little girl I know. This hard plastic tumbler comes in a forest green color, with characters and designs from the famous film printed around the entire cup. It can hold 500ml, has a screw on lid and a straw making it ideal to enjoy outside and not have to worry about any summer bugs getting in for a swim. I wouldn\u2019t be putting this in a dishwasher however, as you don\u2019t know if these things are heat treated. So in order to prevent any mishaps, I would suggest just strictly washing this by hand.<\/span>\n\n\n\nCarrying on with the 80\u2019s nostalgia trip, we received a rather large figure from Dragon Quest. The franchise is having another revival as a new anime - Dragon Quest: The Adventures of Dai hit screens just last year and is still currently airing. This has led to a new wave of new merch and figures being released, including this highly detailed figure of our main man Dai. In such a battle-ready pose, sword out and in the midst of a fight. All that's missing is a slain dragon or just a shonen worthy backdrop (something with a volcano exploiting seems appropriate). This figure deserves to be displayed and is sure to take up a nice section of your collection.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNow I may not recognise this show, but I\u2019m sure at least one of you will. Cat\u2019s Eye follows the story of three sisters who have become formidable art thieves, as they try to \u2018collect\u2019 all the works belonging to their missing father. This shows\u2019 artwork may seem familiar to some of you, as Cat\u2019s Eye is another manga creation from Tsukasa Hojo. The same manga artist behind City Hunter and Angel Heart. This canvas bag really does show off his art style, with the three Kisugi sisters taking centre stage. The bag has drawstrings on either side and can be worn as a backpack, but it also has a handle on the top if you just wish to carry it about. However the drawstrings have nowhere to be tidied away if you wish to do this. This bag could very well be seen as more as a collectors item or art piece, instead of being used as a gym bag.<\/span>\n\n\n\nThis next item is very unique, as its made of a material that I think could be unique to Japan. When I mention the word Tatami, do you imagine the traditional tea rooms and Geisha in Japan? Cause that is exactly what I envisage. Tatami was most commonly used as traditional flooring in Japanese homes, hence why you never wear your shoes inside the home and must wear either your socks or house slippers. In recent times, tatami rooms and flooring have become more uncommon and are rarely featured now in modern house designs. As such the tradition is slowly dying and craftsmen have turned their time into making smaller items out of tatami. Such as the above Tatami pouch, which is from the igusa (common rush) plant, which is used in the making of traditional tatami flooring. This is a truly unique item, something I have actually never seen or even heard of before. As I just believed that tatami was just flooring. I never realised they could also be made into other items.<\/span>\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are now onto our final item and of course it is from a very popular series that I assure you all know - Dragon Ball! The infamous Shonen Jump title from Akira Toriyama, first debuted back as a manga in 1984, with the anime first hitting screens just two years later. The show has grown from strength to strength, making it an incredible and ever growing franchise. Having built up an audience over the decades, constantly gathering new viewers. So our final item for June\u2019s box is a mystery box from the Dragon Ball Adverge collection. A series of minifigures, featuring seven of the most iconic characters from the shows Namek Saga. Including not only Goku, Gohan, Piccolo and Vegeta, but also Frieza and two of his henchmen Dodoria and Zarbon. Pretty happy to say I got Freiza, who looks completely badass in his floating chair. Now these figures are very mini, they each come with a tiny dragon ball, which has no stand so it will get lost very quickly. So just be very aware of that, in case a little one or pet decides to pick it up.         So let\u2019s begin with our first item this month! Straight to the kettle we go with this Dr. Stone mug, the ideal size for a quick cuppa tea in the mornings. Dr. Stone first hit screens back in 2019 with the first season of its anime, season two finished airing in March of this year so people are still pretty hyped for this show. The plot follows a high school student named Senku, wise beyond his years, has a can-do attitude and is fascinated with science. Something that will certainly stand to him and the remaining survivors of mankind, when a sudden and mysterious event takes place that petrifies all of humankind into stone for thousands of years. It\u2019s down to Senku and a number of other teenagers who broke free, to set about fast-tracking their way back to 21st century society. It\u2019s a show well worth checking out, as its available to stream now over on Funimation and Crunchyroll. Physical release is handled by Manga Entertainment UK.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        Our second item is one I am very excited about, as we get a porcelain mini samurai helmet. You can\u2019t get more Japanese, than a Samurai ornament! This small display item is usually used as a decoration item during Kodomo no hi<\/em>, a traditional holiday that celebrates children which takes place on the 5th of May. Japan is steeped in tradition as you well know, and there is a lot of history involving samurai. I would advise looking it up in your own time if you are interested. This item however is perfect as a holiday souvenir or gift. How would you display this Samurai mini helmet in your home?<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        We return once again to another anime related item, with this mini Cells At Work plush. Now I haven\u2019t seen this anime, so I have no idea as to what it is actually about. From the look of it though, I would guess that the plot is fairly similar to the 2001 film - Osmosis Jones. Where cells in the body are sentient and with \u2018lives\u2019 of their own, fight against any foreign viruses or illnesses that enter the body they live in. The inner workings of the human body I guess, how very relatable to the World these past 18months. The plush is of one of the main characters - White Cell. This miniature plush will have no trouble finding a space to live within your plushie collection.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        Now for a short snack break, as I sit back and inhale these two delicious Dekopon Monaka. These pastries are known as wagashi treats in Japan, which are small savoury treats that are usually paired well with green tea. The flavor was quite nice, as it had a rather generous dekopon filling. With a very homemade jam-like texture, dekopon are a citrus fruit that are quite similar to an orange. Sandwiching this filling together, are two small waffles. Very similar in taste and texture to a pair of ice cream wafers. An interesting treat, pleasant taste but not too sure about the waffles. They were a bit too crumbly and messy to eat.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        Back now to another anime item, this time from the show Black Clover. This anime has been doing very well for itself since its debut back in 2017. With a total of 170 episodes in all and an anime film currently in the works, it has gathered quite a following of fans. With new merch continuously being released, it stands as another Shonen Jump long standing franchise. The item we received was a medium sized zip pouch featuring all of the members of the Black Bull Squad, including the shows main man Asta. A fairly roomy pouch inside, plenty of space for all those coins you will need for the arcades. Can also work as a make up punch, pencil case, purse, whatever you can cram inside really. Its a nice design on the front, with a strong zip but due to the way the pouch was made the image can be a little lackluster and almost looks like it was bought straight from ebay. That\u2019s my own opinion however, others might find more value in this than me.<\/span><\/p>\n

        ,The final item in May's box that everyone received, is this figure from \u2018Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun\u2019. Now this is another anime that I am fairly unfamiliar with, but going by the plot over on its Wikipedia page - it seems like a rather fun show. With Season One of the anime first debuted back in 2019, Season Two is currently airing as we speak. The plot follows a human teenage boy named Iruma Suzuki, who is sold by his parents to a demon. How he finds himself in the demon world, adopted by the same demon he was sold to and is now enrolled in the demon school his new \u2018demon grandfather\u2019 runs. Only trouble is, he can never reveal that he\u2019s human - as he will be quickly devoured by all his classmates. So the figure we all received in this box was of the lead character Iruma and his friend Mofuego - who I can\u2019t seem to find any information on online. Its a rather large figure of Iruma, well made, sturdy and definitely well painted. Can see no faults with it at all, definitely added to the overall value of the box. The figure could be hitting a niche portion of anime fans, as I believe that this anime hasn\u2019t gotten much advertising to western audiences yet.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Now if you are a regular subscriber to Nihon Box, you are well aware of the added bonus item you receive for free every three months. May must have been my month, as I received a mystery bonus item from Square Enix (pictured above). Its a rather cute acrylic character set, the problem is I have no idea what this is from. A series about following your passion, letting the music guide you and working hard to make it big in the music industry as musicians who create their own melodies and lyrics from scratch - a rarity in their time. This series is perfect for all you music lovers, as it promotes so many genres as well as giving some sort of insight into the music industry. Carole & Tuesdays\u2019 lyrics are sure to stay with you for a very long time.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Well this was a complete surprise, I began watching this show fully expecting a happy go lucky series with little to no depth. Well I was gladly mistaken, as Carole & Tuesday had character development, plot and soundtracks that would stand out miles above many other and more well known shows out there. It actually felt like this could very easily be adapted into a live action, TV drama. Going from the initial poster, you wouldn't think these two girls had very much in common and perhaps they wouldn't have if it wasn't for their music. Both are driven to make this duo work, even upon their first night meeting all they wished to do was make a song together. It was like an instant friendship between the pair. The idea seemed a bit forced at the start, but shows like this only get better as episodes progress - it just needed that forced kickstart to get it going.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        So let's begin with Tuesday, the pretty little white girl who ran away from home (a big ass mansion I might add) with her expensive Gibson guitar. Leaving her cushy lifestyle and political campaign focussed mother behind, Tuesday makes her way to Alba City (a play on Alba Records I presume) in order to pursue her music. However this girl has no idea just how to survive on her own, so luckily for her she runs into a kind hearted girl playing her keyboard on the bridge to passers by. And here we meet Carole, an orphan and refugee from Planet Earth - (oh by the way people, this show takes place on Mars. Yeah, its fairly futuristic and metropolitan, but of course there are massive wealth divisions between the people living on Mars.) Carole wants to have a music career and was just missing someone as talented as Tuesday by her side to make it. Carole is completely down to earth, hard working and driven. Together these two girls make some positive waves in the industry as they work their way up. However they also have their own rivals along the way.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Carole & Tuesdays music career gets a massive boost from a viral video of them practising a new song they wrote in a local venue, which they didn't \u2018exactly\u2019 have permission to use. As their performance and escape goes viral, the girls soon get the attention of an experienced but out of practice agent. This series has countless high points, each episode was memorable in its own way. Whether for the original songs, the covers, the episode names, down to the performances in each episode - its truly captivating at times. The character development and plot could have just been a show all on its own, even without the incredible soundtrack. As we have Tuesday and her family drama with her mother running for President. Promoting a campaign that would see all refugees being sent back to Earth. A campaign that would also see Carole being directly affected. Carole is more focussed on her career, has survived this long in life without knowing her parents. Something that is later explored and very tastefully done in my opinion. With their newfound fame, it quickly attracted those that only wanted to be near her for whatever money and fame she had gotten. The dark side of humanity definitely showed its ugly head one or two times throughout the show.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        The most interesting arc in this show came from when the girls were entered into a Singing Competition called \u2018Mars Brightest\u2019. Here they met and competed against Angela, a fashion model wanting to transition into music. This girl has a whole character plot of her own, one that ended up being far more complex and captivating than Carole & Tuesday's storylines! And Angela was only one of the other contestants, each character in this show had their own impact on the overall experience. They each brought something to the overall plot. There are some terribly sad moments, but they add to the impact the show leaves on you. Layering that on top of an incredible music score, well that shit is going to stay with me for years to come. The only thing I wish was that this show had gotten a physical release from one of the UK\u2019s Anime Distributors instead of Netflix. I would even settle for just a Vinyl of the shows soundtrack, as at the moment I just have a YouTube playlist to go from.<\/span><\/p>\n

        \u2018Carole & Tuesday\u2019 is available in a number of language audios over on Netflix, including French, German, Japanese and English. I personally watched it in English and it was a very good dub, the songs were just beautiful. This series ran for 24 episodes and was created by studio BONES in commemoration of the studio's 20th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of record label FlyingDog. The series had two directors, including the infamous Shinichir\u00f3 Watanabe. Widely known for his anime works including Cowboy Bebop, Space Dandy and Kids on the Slope. Our second director was Motonobu Hori, who has had an extensive career and has done numerous jobs across titles including Steamboy, Spirited Away, BECK, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc trilogy and Napping Princess.<\/span><\/p>\n

        We are now in full swing into this festive season and I am unsure as to when this particular review will be going up on the website - so either way I hope you are all in a jolly mood!<\/span><\/p>\n

        Now before I even had the review for the November box up on the site, the December edition of Nihon Box was already on my doorstep. The staff over in the warehouse has been working flat out in order to ship this month's box off a few weeks earlier, so everyone would have it in time for Christmas. So without further ado, let\u2019s get started with the usual speel of how you can sign up for your very own Nihon Box.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Nihon Box is a Japanese monthly subscription service that handpicks at least 6 items each month that are almost exclusive to Japan and ships them straight to your door. Their items are a mixture of Otaku Anime related merchandise and figures, as well as traditional Japanese items, from sweets to tableware. All of this is available to subscribe to monthly, just keep reading along to see just how affordable it can be.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Like SoKawaii, the more months you pay upfront the cheaper the price for individual boxes will be.<\/span> https:\/\/www.nihonbox.com\/en<\/a><\/p>\n

        Monthly is \u20ac29.99 plus shipping costs<\/span><\/p>\n

        3 Months is a single payment of \u20ac86.97, making each box \u20ac28.99, plus shipping costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Due to the latest European VAT legislation, the overall cost after shipping has increased slightly. The folks behind Nihon Box have done all they can to make this transition as simple as possible, so they have taken the necessary steps & changes in order to include the VAT directly in the subscription\u2019s price. This change will normally be effective starting from the next renewal of your subscription, with the addition of the VAT in the final price (19% for Germany). And from August of this year, as a small gift of appreciation to their overseas customers they will be including a 1000yen gift card to their YattaJapan.com store. As an idea of how much the charge has gone up, prior to August I was paying \u20ac32.89 a month. The new price I pay now is \u20ac40.45 a month, which is a nice increase but I believe the value is still there within the box. Now once it arrived in Ireland, I have been charged customs through An Post. Totalling just under \u20ac9euro the first month, with this particular box being around the \u20ac10 mark on top of the \u20ac40.45 I pay each month, making this a rather expensive price hike in the end. However this is all due to inflation and the recent customs changes within the EU, whilst Nihon Box is still cramming in as much value into the box as possible from their side.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Our first item this month is a Shaman King figure from Banpresto. Seeing as Shaman King has had a remake just this year from Netflix, the merch and figures have begun to appear at a steady pace. So fair play to Nihon Box for including these figures in the final box of the year. With three characters available, including main man Yoh Asakura, his brother Hao and even Yoh\u2019s fianc\u00e9e Anna Kyoyama.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        Our next item is from the infamous Dragon Ball franchise, with this Shenron towel. This towel is more of a long, narrow hand towel. Although it does very much look like a cool scarf. It also resembles the color of a christmas tree, so why not include it in the December box! Also who doesn\u2019t want a towel of a mighty dragon?!<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        Following in Dragon Balls footsteps, is one of the more recent big hits from Shonen Jump - with Jujutsu Kaisen. This dark fantasy, supernatural adventure follows a young high school student named Yuji Itadori as he joins a secret organization in order to kill a powerful curse that has possessed him. This is a series I have yet to jump into myself, so let me know in the comments below or across our social media what your opinions are on Jujutsu Kaisen. So Nihon Box has included a plush in every box this month, to celebrate the release of the first Jujutsu Kaisen film in cinemas over in Japan. With four character plushies to collect, including Yuji Itadori, Gojo Satoru, Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki. They are a handy size, perfect to put on a shelf, seem to be well stitched together and dressed. I\u2019m sure any JJK fan would be happy to own one of these.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        Our next item is pretty damn well special, as it\u2019s a 3D puzzle of Tokyo Tower. Even more amazing and something I did not realize until reading the leaflet, is that when you take it out of the packaging, the building parts are arranged in a way that they spell out Tokyo in Kanji. So in fact this item is actually known as a Kanji Model kit of Tokyo Tower. However I do have to say that although it was simple enough to put together, getting it out of the packaging and trying to remove all the little plastic bits that held it together - was a bit of a nuisance. This would be no issue at all for those that have had experience with model kits like Gundam.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        Moving right along, we have the return of Kirby and his Limited Edition Beauty Care range. We have had this same exact range before where we received hand cream, this time it's back with lip cream. The packaging is just adorable and would make a lovely little gift, or even just used for display. The design also celebrates five different prefectures in Japan, including Okinawa, Kyoto, Yokohama, Osaka and Hokkaido. Only one of which is available in every box.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        Next up, is a nod towards the new year as we all received a Tiger Dorei Statuette, to symbolize 2022 - The year of the Tiger. Those of you that have enjoyed the Fruits Basket franchise, will be all too familiar with the Chinese Zodiac and their animal spirits. Whereas over here in the West we are more familiar with the astrology zodiac, where the time of year you are born points out your star sign. In Japan, your zodiac animal is determined by what year you are born. With it coming full circle every 12 years to begin again. This particular statuette has a small bell inside, comes with its own little pedestal and traditional looking folding screen for some decorative background art. This is a lovely piece of Japanese culture to own and one day, I would like to own the rest of the zodiac animals in the same design.<\/span><\/p>\n

        We are almost at the end of this box, so hold on just a bit longer. Our latest recurring product has been a 1000 Yen gift card from Yatta Japan, which can be used on their website. Yatta Japan is also run by the same folks behind Nihon Box, where you can pre-order figures, buy Japanese snacks and even issues of Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine!         So let\u2019s get started with the first item from November\u2019s box, with this beautiful \u2018Aki in Japan\u2019 furoshiki. This piece of fabric is traditionally used to wrap up your bento or a gift, which is very eco friendly due to its reusability. Personally I will be using this as a decorative piece, although I haven\u2019t decided how to as of yet. This particular furoshiki was made in collaboration with a professional craftsman in Kyoto, who has been doing this for the past fifty years. The design is based off of an Autumn scene featuring Mount Fuji in the background of a shrine.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        Our next item this month is for all you Inuyasha fans out there, with this Sessh\u00f3maru noodle stopper figure. This boy has a bit of weight to him, that keeps him perfectly balanced when sitting on the edge of a shelf or indeed a Cup Ramen. This series of noodle stopper figures always have such unique poses, this one is no different. It\u2019s well crafted, skillfully designed and indeed well painted. It can join my other Inuyasha noodle stopper on the shelf, which was included in September's Nihon Box from 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        We now move onto a slightly more recent anime franchise, with Haikyuu! This series follows a high school volleyball team as they compete in local matches, all the way up to nationals in order to repair their reputation with the assistance of a pair of talented new players. This series has a massive fanbase and Nihon Box has included it in this box with a Hug Chara Collection figure. This series of small plushies, are very cute but also useful. As within the arms will be a strong bull clip, which you can open and close by using the legs. With six characters to collect, every box will receive the main character of Sh\u00f3y\u00f3 Hinata.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        We now move on to yet another Shonen Jump franchise with Hunter x Hunter. This franchise first began back in 1998 but has been on hiatus since 2018, but still carries a strong fan base. Due to this, it has been included with this Figurine Fuchipito collection from Re-Ment. With six characters to collect, these small detailed figures each have their unique pose and sit on top of a wooden box. Like the Noodle Stopper series, they are also designed to sit on the edge of shelves, die to how well they are balanced.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        Our snack item for this month is the Kurobou Meimon. A traditional sweet and specialty of the city of Kurume, from the Fukuoka prefecture. Made from brown sugar, it carries its own unique taste that is unlike anything I have tried here in Ireland. It may not be for everyone's palette, as I didn\u2019t find myself going back very quickly to finish the second one in the package.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        So let\u2019s begin with the item on the left, which is a loyalty item bonus that you receive several times during the year when you have a continuous subscription. It is always a delight to see what might be included for free every quarter. This time, it was a small keychain plush from the FairyTail and Mameshiba collab, but I can not seem to find when this is from so it may be an old release. It\u2019s an interesting item no doubt and a collaboration I never would have put together, but it kind of works. It\u2019s cute, right?!<\/span><\/p>\n

        On the right, is our new regular to every Nihon Box - a 1000 Yen gift card for their side company \u2018Yatta Japan\u2019. This time, the gift card is valid until next Summer. However at the moment, it doesn't appear to be a good time ordering from their website as the delivery option pricing is through the roof! At least for Ireland it is, no way I want to pay over \u20ac40 in shipping for items that barely come to \u20ac20. Fingers crossed they manage to sort this out in the new year, as I would prefer some economy shipping at least.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Our last anime related item of the box is the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba item pictured above. Which is known as an Eco Kairo in Japan, otherwise known as a reusable pocket hand warmer. I have not seen these items in years, not since I was in school. There is a gel inside that heats up as soon as a metal tab inside is broken, it just causes a chain reaction. In order to reuse it again, you just place it inside a kitchen cloth and then in boiling water. Within five minutes it will have returned to its original state, ready to be used again. Perfect for the current cold season. This is available in 10 character designs, all with their own unique backgrounds. Also in time for the latest season of Demon Slayer, which has just started airing over on Funimation And Crunchyroll.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/p>\n

        And now onto our final item this month, with these Ukiyo-e coasters. This is a set of four coasters, traditionally made with washi paper. They feature images from four of the most famous Ukiyo-e paintings, including Kabuki (by Kunisada Utagawa), Meisho Hakkei (by Toyokuni Utagawa), Aka Fuji (by Hokusai Katsushika) and Two Women ( by Kitagawa Utamaro). All made by a company that has been specializing in washi paper for over 90 years. It is a shame however that neither the name of the company or any links to their work is never listed in the brochure. Hopefully they can add this information for future boxes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although he has some decent grades, he is disliked by fellow students for his otaku interests. Although he is a recluse, his only friend in the World is his classmate Y\u00fato It\u00f3 who is a bit of an oddball himself. These two boys have resigned themselves to believing they could never get a 3-D girlfriend and have instead dedicated themselves to anime. However, by pure chance one day, Tsutsui is late to class and is sentenced to pool cleaning duty. He is not alone however, as he is paired up with the beautiful but the schools most talked about girl - Iroha Igarashi. Through just this single interaction, their lives become intertwined forever as the love story behind Real Girl<\/em> begins.<\/span>\n\nOkay okay, I wasn\u2019t expecting much out of this show at the beginning but wow! It hit me right in the feels in the last couple of episodes! This high school romance had its ups and downs, its misunderstandings and surprises, it\u2019s far from your typical rom-com anime series. This show had deapt, so I can only imagine how good the source material was in the manga. Tsutsui is your classic teenage otaku, who prefers his own company and is incredibly awkward when it comes to interacting with \u2018real people\u2019. He does however have a best friend in It\u00f3, who has his own unique interests. It\u2019s no wonder these two had become social outcasts in high schools. However high school kids can be incredibly harsh, as all these characters are in and around 18 years old. It\u2019s not only the \u2018nerds\u2019 being bullied, but even the gorgeous Iroha who has been labelled as the \u2018school slut\u2019. The pairing is almost unimaginable, but it really works. Both Tsutsui and Iroha take their new found relationship very seriously and it changes them both for the better.<\/span>\n\nHowever there is always a catch, Iroha announces to Tsutsui that she only has another six months in this school before she transfers. They make the most of their time together, Tsutsui has difficulty expressing and understanding emotions so there are the odd misunderstandings. Iroha does all she can to improve Tsutsui\u2019s impression of himself and build his self confidence, which has a number of setbacks due to him not entirely believing her words at times. And like all great shows, there is just another massive plot twist near the end of the show. One that was utterly heartbreaking, yet with all that happens, the character development, actions, emotions - it was all utterly believable. I have to admit though, I did shead the odd tear or two during the finale episode!<\/span>\n\n\u2018Real Girl\u2019 (Riaru G\u00e1ru) first began as a sh\u00f3jo manga series by mangaka Mao Nanami back in 2011. Having completed with a total of 12 volumes in 2016, it has been published in English by Kodansha comics. However I have only been able to find the first six volumes in print, the entire series however is available to buy digitally.<\/span>\n\nIt wasn\u2019t until the manga series had ended for quite some time, was this 24 episode anime adaption released in 2018 from studio - Hoods Entertainment. This animation studio is still rather new having founded in 2009, but have since done a number of animes including Mysterious Girlfriend X and Drifters, under the name Hoods Drifters Studio. If that wasn\u2019t enough, there was also a live action film adaption released in 2018 under the name \u201c3D Kanojo Riaru G\u0101ru\u201d<\/span>\n\nBonus Features Include:<\/span>\n

          Natsuo Fuji is just your typical high school boy, who has a massive crush on his teacher Ms Tachibana. Since there is zero chance he will ever get to go out with her, he agrees to attend a mixer with his friends in order to meet some cute girls. Whilst out he gets talking to Rui, a quiet but straight talking girl who persuades him to follow her home to do the \u2018deed\u2019. Thinking that they will never see one another again, Natsuo returns home to the news that his widowed father is getting remarried and she is on the way over with her two daughters - Rui and Ms Hina Tachibana. Let this chaotic new family dynamic begin, as Natsuo must learn to live with the woman he lost his virginity to and the one he wishes he could sleep with!<\/span><\/p>\n

          Well this is an anime that is just filled with drama and questions around romance within blended families and the morals that surround them. It initially began as Natuso having a long standing crush for his teacher Ms Hina Tachibana. In order to try and get past his one sided romance, he ended up sleeping with Rui, who inevitably ended up being the teacher's younger sister. As fate would have it, they all ended up under the one roof when their single parents remarried thus creating this incredibly complicated family. Following the initial revelation, the show then turns direction into Natuso and Rui keeping their first \u2018encounter\u2019 a secret from everyone and Natsuo also trying to resist all urges to pounce on Hina. The story further develops when Hina\u2019s secret relationship is exposed, Natsuo acts upon his feelings, Hina attempts to play the older sister and obviously Rui ends up transferring to the same school.<\/span><\/p>\n

          So there is clearly a reason this show is marked as an 18 classification, both for the nature of the story and the numerous naked scenes included. It\u2019s a pretty raunchy show at times and has a pretty narrow audience, however even though the premise of the show will be too much for many people to overlook - the character development, plot progression and the overall conclusion of the show is pretty well thought out! I can not falter the script whatsoever, it always keeps both feet in reality with its character reactions and inevitable consequences. We see the challenges that come about when step siblings develop romantic feelings for one another, normal high school antics, a school trip and even Natsuo thinking about his career as he throws himself back into his writing again towards the end thanks to the members of the Literature Club. Hina on the other hand is walking a tightrope, as her relationship to a married man is exposed and later we see how the cycle is repeating itself once more when the origins of which are revealed. With Hina now in the opposite role, her career ends on a cliff edge as well when a picture of her school trip antics lands on the Principal's desk. Its an inevitable conclusion to the series, a sad one at that but one that is more realistic than the hopeful happily ever after many would have been expecting from the series. As to if the anime\u2019s ending is the same as how the manga series ended, I\u2019m unsure as the manga concluded over a year after the anime did.<\/span><\/p>\n

          Speaking of which, the manga was created by Kei Sasuga, the same author behind the one shot harem romance \u2018GE - Good Ending\u2019. The \u2018Domestic Girlfriend\u2019 manga ran in Weekly Sh\u00f3nen Magazine from 2014 upto just last year in 2020, with a total of 28 volumes released with 11 extra chapters bundled together in one last volume. The English translation is being handled by Kodansha USA, with the volumes only being available in a digital format. The anime adaptation was then aired in 2019, with a total of 12 episodes all handled by studio Diomed\u00e9a. The same studio behind \u2018My Girlfriend is Shobitch\u2019, \u2018Girlish Number\u2019, \u2018Squid Girl\u2019 and \u2018Problem Children Are Coming From Another World, Aren\u2019t They?\u2019. This anime release is being handled by the dedicated team over at MVM Entertainment, giving it a BluRay only release.<\/span><\/p>\n

            Although this anime\u2019s plot is far from family friendly or aimed at casual anime viewers, it is still worth a watch for those that are willing to give the show a chance. The character development and interactions involved are rooted in a reality on par with our own, where actions such as student\/pupil relationships are met with dire consequences. No magic, adventure, epic battles or quests, just a show that dives into a plausible scenario where a student ends up with two step sisters and a romantic love triangle ensues. \u2018Domestic Girlfriend\u2019 is available now from MVM Entertainment as a BluRay only.<\/span><\/p>\n

The local haunted hot springs, home to a number of interesting female residents and a ghost named Yuuna. Determined to help Yuuna move onto the afterlife before her spirit turns evil, Kogarashi moves in and helps to break any ties Yuuna has to this life. Trouble is, it\u2019s not going to be that simple!<\/span>\n\nWelcome back everyone to another anime harem, this time of the supernatural kind. So \u2018Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs\u2019 is a romantic comedy series, featuring a teenage boy who can interact with ghosts, ghouls, Gods etc. He wanders into a town famous for their hot springs, only to end up at Yuragi Inn due to their insanely cheap rent. There he meets the innkeeper Chitose Nakai, a woman who looks more like a middle schooler but is instead the one running the inn. She has a number of female borders, including Sagiri from a demon-slayin ninja clan, Yaya a timid girl who acts as the vessel for a Cat God and Nonko a famous manga author who is always hardly dressed, mostly drunk and always horny. And that is before you meet the resident ghost - Yuuna. Whose back story includes her dying one night in this very same hot springs resort, whilst on a school trip. So it\u2019s definitely a cast of lively characters to say the least. Thus far, its an interesting mix of personalities, so let\u2019s get down to the story aspect.<\/span>\n\nSo like I mentioned Yuuna once died at this Inn, thus tying her ghost to this resort. Now I am not entirely certain as to how long she has been dead, but I would say it has definitely been more than a decade. As to how she died, well that is still a bit of a mystery. One that I was hoping was going to be resolved in this season. However we are still none the wiser by the end of it.This anime finished airing in 2018, compared to the manga that only finished up just last Summer in June 2020. So there is some hope that we may get a season two.<\/span>\n\nNow Yuuna has a ditzy personality, she floats in her sleep, tends to lose her clothes very easily and also navigates towards Kogarashi\u2019s sleeping body every night. Resulting in him always waking up to some shocking scenes, closely followed by shocked screams and a nice morning dunk in the surrounding river outside the Inn. The comedy aspect is strong in this show, but so is the action. We have a number of supernatural monsters, creatures, encounters and even deities in this show. Apart from the action and comedy aspect, there are some touching moments - uncensored and uncut of course, wink wink. As well as some emotional scenes, some character developments, some backstories and the inevitable - rescue the ghost girl from the Black Dragon God.<\/span>\n\nBonus Features Include:<\/span><\/strong>\n\nSurprisingly, none whatsoever.<\/span>\n\nNo trailers<\/span>\n\nNo clean opening or closing credits<\/span>\n\nNo interviews<\/span>\n\nAnd certainly no OVA\u2019s<\/span>\n\nYuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs (Yuragi-s\u014d no Y\u016bna-san) was created by Japanese mangaka Tadahiro Miura. The supernatural, harem comedy was serialized in Weekly Sh\u00f3nen Jump from 2016 to 2020, with a total of 24 volumes released. The English translation and release was handled by Seven Seas Entertainment. The manga was first adapted into a four episode OVA series from studios Xebec and Singal.MD, none of which was included in this BluRay release. It was then adapted into this 12 episode series, once again by Xebec and the same director back in 2018. This was amongst one of the last productions ever to be released by studio Xebec, before they closed in 2019. The studio was most well known for their work on Martian Successor Nadesico, Love Hina, the original Shaman King and D. N. Angel. This BluRay release is being handled by MVM Entertainment, but is seriously lacking in the extras department. However it is still a solid stand alone series, but just could not be recommended for people that enjoy a good, complete ending. So let\u2019s get the ball rolling with our usual Nihon Box infomercial.<\/span>\n\nNihon Box is a Japanese monthly subscription service that handpicks at least 6 items each month that are almost exclusive to Japan and ships them straight to your door. Their items are a mixture of Otaku Anime related merchandise and figures, as well as traditional Japanese items, from sweets to tableware. The show focused around Ichigo Kurosaki, who became a substitute Soul Reaper in order to save his family. Many of you would be very well versed in the happenings of this show, and rightly so! It is also about to make a comeback in the not too distant future, as they will be adapting the final arc of the manga - the \u2018Thousand Year Blood War\u2019. So in order to help us all cope with the franchise about to reach its final anime conclusion, Nihon Box has included this tissue box cover with Ichigo and Rukia on the front.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNext up is this bamboo fibre cup, featuring the main characters from the latest hit anime - \u2018Tokyo Revengers\u2019. An anime that features the lead character travelling backwards in time in order to save his friends from their untimely deaths and thus change the future for the better. Kind of sounds like Steins: Gate, but with middle school kids and a street gang. I have yet to start this show, but let me know in the comments below if my description was even close to the truth. Anyway this cup could either be used as such or simply as a bit of decoration, you choose. They have even hinted in the leaflet this month that Tokyo Revengers may be making a return in future boxes.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNow we move on to the traditional Japanese item for this month, with a \u2018Tanuki Okiagari-Koboshi\u2019. The Okiagari-Koboshi (\u8d77\u304d\u4e0a\u304c\u308a\u5c0f\u6cd5\u5e2b, getting-up little boy) is a Japanese traditional doll. The toy is made from papier-m\u00e2ch\u00e9 and is a roly-poly toy, designed so that its weight causes it to return to an upright position if it is knocked over. This one is made to look like a Tanuki, the same creature you would have seen in Studio Ghibli\u2019s Pom Poko and the anime series \u2018The Eccentric Family\u2019. This item was hand made in Japan and is absolutely adorable.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNext up is our food item, with this packet of \u2018ochazuke\u2019 featuring Tanjiro and Nezuko from Demon Slayer. \u2018Ochazuke is a simple Japanese dish made by pouring green tea, dashi, or hot water over cooked rice. Ochazuke provides a good way to use leftover rice as a quick snack because this dish is easy to make.\u2019 This packet is in collaboration with Demon Slayer with its nori seaweed flavor and one of 18 collectable stickers inside the packet.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNext up is our Himouto! Umaru-chan item, in this incredibly vacuum packed pillow. This item features our main girl Lazy Umaru -chan as a super soft pillow. Made of \u2018mochi-mochi\u2019 material, making her very huggable, so you can just laze around with her and watch some anime. This series is a massive hit with everyone in the Nihon Box office, as they have said themselves that they have been wanting to include this franchise for quite some time.<\/span>\n\n\n\nOur figure for this month comes from the \u2018Kaguya-sama: Love is War\u2019 series, featuring Shinomiya Kaguya herself in her school outfit. This figure is from the Coreful Figure line from Taito, and features Shinomiya in her school uniform while placing a cute flower barrette in her hair! This figure was probably quite popular in the arcade machines in Japan when it was first released, its a good quality figure, sturdy base and has a simple, but elegant pose. Definitely one to buy for fans of the show.<\/span>\n\n\n\nAnd lastly we have the 1000 Yen Yatta Japan gift card, that can be used on their online store. Having gained popularity as a Shonen Jump series, fans of the ever popular Bleach series by Tite Kubo can easily spot where he got the influence for the franchise from. Yu Yu Hakusho follows a young teen named Yusuke, who ends up \u2018working\u2019 for the Spirit World after they restored his life following what should have been a fatal car crash. He is guided along the way by the grim reaper Botan, a young woman who resembles more of a pretty looking witch than the collector of souls. Over the space of season one we encounter many demons, some that even change their ways and work alongside Yusuke on some cases. With numerous brawls between human and demon opponents, Yusuke also gains some spiritual powers to help him out.<\/span>\n\nAs I mentioned above, Yusuke also gains some demon allies in the form of Kurama and Hiei. Both of which are incredibly strong opponents in their own right, with surprising backstories. Joining them will also be Botan and Yusuke\u2019s rival from school - Kazuma Kuwabara. A human born with some spiritual connection, in which he was able to even sense Yusuke\u2019s spirit when everyone believed he was dead. Now the character development in the show thus far in just Season One has been fantastic. I mean just within the first few episodes we see a kinder side to Yusuke, a teen who mostly everyone else has written off as just a delinquent. Even as he observes his wake at home, he is overcome by how much the few close people in his life are hurting. This show not only hits you square in the face with some powerful right hooks, but man it certainly doesn\u2019t hold any punches when it comes to those emotional scenes!<\/span>\n\n\n\nBonus Features:<\/span><\/strong>\n\n2x artcards packaged in a collector's slip case.<\/span>\nLooking Back at a Legacy is a 17 minute special feature, including some of the English Dub voice actors.<\/span>\n\nSo as I mentioned before, Yu Yu Hakusho began as a manga series back in 1990. Created by Yoshihiro Togashi, the same man behind Level E and Hunter x Hunter. Yu Yu Hakusho however ran for 19 volumes and was serialized in Weekly Sh\u00f3nen Jump, it is also available to read in full over on the Shonen Jump app. The anime adaptation was handled by Studio Pierrot, who also handled Naruto, Boruto, Tokyo Ghoul and Black Clover. Which ran for a whopping 112 episodes, followed by a 6 episode OVA in 1994 called Eizou Hakusho. Years later it was followed up with another 2 episode OVA called Two Shot & All or Nothing in 2018! There were also two anime films that came out in \u201893 and \u201894.<\/span>\n\nYu Yu Hakusho: Season One was full of action from start to finish.             The first item this month is a beautiful Hatsune Miku Summer Matsuri PVC statue from Taito, measuring 18cm tall. This very colorful figure has so much going on in its design, that celebrates those famous summer festivals we have all seen in Japanese anime. This hologram diva is wearing a red, yellow and blue short yukata, with images of fireworks on one of her arm sleeves. Her accessories include a kitsune mask on her head, as well as a uchiwa hand fan in one hand and a candy apple (ringo ame) in the other. She is sure to make a great addition to the figure collection, which is ever growing thanks to these subscription boxes.             If you fancy mimicking Miku\u2019s design and getting in the matsuri spirit, then you will certainly enjoy this small uchiwa matsuri fan. This accessory is perfect for the summer weather, it's lightweight and portable. Allowing you to fan yourself with a slight cool breeze as you enjoy the summer, no matter where you are. This is a traditional hand fan that is still pretty popular and iconic to own today. At least you never have to worry about your small electric fan running out of power, when you own one of these.<\/span><\/p>\n

            Moving on, we have a serving tray, featuring the characters from \u2018The Quintessential Quintuplets\u2019. An anime that debuted from Tezuka Productions back in 2019. The series follows the daily life of a high school student Futaro Uesugi, who is hired as a private tutor for a group of identical quintuplets: Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki Nakano. At the very beginning of the story, it is indicated Futaro will marry one of the Nakano Quintuplets but the identity of the bride is unknown until near the end of the story. The design on this tray is of the five sisters as they stand together in their yukatas, as fireworks explode behind their heads. This manga series has become very popular as of late, so I am sure there are a few fans of this series already that will be thrilled with this bit of unexpected merch.<\/span><\/p>\n

            <\/p>\n

            Now what is the best function of a tray, other than putting snacks on it?! So our next item this month is an Azuki flavour Taiyaki. Which is a common sight at festival food stalls. This fish-shaped sweet pastry dessert has a large filling of red bean paste (azuki). However the outer pastry tasted more like soft ice cream wafers, perhaps that might have been the impact of a long journey across the globe. Either way, I would assume this would taste better fresh.<\/span><\/p>\n

            Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba returns once again in our Nihon Box, as we get a blind box from the Fuwakororin range. This series has six different character designs, all appearing as a mini round plush. The one I received is our lead man - Tanjiro.<\/span><\/p>\n

            And now we get to our final item for Julys\u2019 box, which is an Assassination Classroom towel. Why you may ask? A tad random maybe? Well Japan is damn HOT in the Summer, even during the matsuri festivals. So a towel is always essential to have on hand, especially for those that may be working and performing during these festivals. This \u2018mini towel\u2019, although pretty large in my opinion as you can see above as I hung it up on a door for size comparison. It\u2019s bright yellow in color, with Koro Sensei\u2019s face in the middle, with the shows title at the bottom of the towel.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you haven\u2019t heard already, the anime is getting a revival and is already being aired in Japan. With it hitting the rest of the World on Netflix in the coming weeks if not, this very second as you are reading this! Just to remind people of that fact, Nihon Box has included a packet of \u2018Onsen Maju Shaman King Chocolates\u2019. Now I have had this brand of chocolate before, and they are so good! These ones are having a collaboration with Shaman King at the moment, to promote the new anime. Each chocolate is individually wrapped with a character from the show. A good snack to munch on as we all binge watch the new anime when it drops on Netflix.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNow we travel back to the 80\u2019s with a My Neighbour Totoro tumbler. Now I got this exact same item back in So Kawaiis October box last year, so I have since re-gifted this to a very happy little girl I know. This hard plastic tumbler comes in a forest green color, with characters and designs from the famous film printed around the entire cup. It can hold 500ml, has a screw on lid and a straw making it ideal to enjoy outside and not have to worry about any summer bugs getting in for a swim. I wouldn\u2019t be putting this in a dishwasher however, as you don\u2019t know if these things are heat treated. So in order to prevent any mishaps, I would suggest just strictly washing this by hand.<\/span>\n\n\n\nCarrying on with the 80\u2019s nostalgia trip, we received a rather large figure from Dragon Quest. The franchise is having another revival as a new anime - Dragon Quest: The Adventures of Dai hit screens just last year and is still currently airing. This has led to a new wave of new merch and figures being released, including this highly detailed figure of our main man Dai. In such a battle-ready pose, sword out and in the midst of a fight. All that's missing is a slain dragon or just a shonen worthy backdrop (something with a volcano exploiting seems appropriate). This figure deserves to be displayed and is sure to take up a nice section of your collection.<\/span>\n\n\n\nNow I may not recognise this show, but I\u2019m sure at least one of you will. Cat\u2019s Eye follows the story of three sisters who have become formidable art thieves, as they try to \u2018collect\u2019 all the works belonging to their missing father. This shows\u2019 artwork may seem familiar to some of you, as Cat\u2019s Eye is another manga creation from Tsukasa Hojo. The same manga artist behind City Hunter and Angel Heart. This canvas bag really does show off his art style, with the three Kisugi sisters taking centre stage. The bag has drawstrings on either side and can be worn as a backpack, but it also has a handle on the top if you just wish to carry it about. However the drawstrings have nowhere to be tidied away if you wish to do this. This bag could very well be seen as more as a collectors item or art piece, instead of being used as a gym bag.<\/span>\n\n\n\nThis next item is very unique, as its made of a material that I think could be unique to Japan. When I mention the word Tatami, do you imagine the traditional tea rooms and Geisha in Japan? Cause that is exactly what I envisage. Tatami was most commonly used as traditional flooring in Japanese homes, hence why you never wear your shoes inside the home and must wear either your socks or house slippers. In recent times, tatami rooms and flooring have become more uncommon and are rarely featured now in modern house designs. As such the tradition is slowly dying and craftsmen have turned their time into making smaller items out of tatami. Such as the above Tatami pouch, which is from the igusa (common rush) plant, which is used in the making of traditional tatami flooring. This is a truly unique item, something I have actually never seen or even heard of before. As I just believed that tatami was just flooring. I never realised they could also be made into other items.<\/span>\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are now onto our final item and of course it is from a very popular series that I assure you all know - Dragon Ball! The infamous Shonen Jump title from Akira Toriyama, first debuted back as a manga in 1984, with the anime first hitting screens just two years later. The show has grown from strength to strength, making it an incredible and ever growing franchise. Having built up an audience over the decades, constantly gathering new viewers. So our final item for June\u2019s box is a mystery box from the Dragon Ball Adverge collection. A series of minifigures, featuring seven of the most iconic characters from the shows Namek Saga. Including not only Goku, Gohan, Piccolo and Vegeta, but also Frieza and two of his henchmen Dodoria and Zarbon. Pretty happy to say I got Freiza, who looks completely badass in his floating chair. Now these figures are very mini, they each come with a tiny dragon ball, which has no stand so it will get lost very quickly. So just be very aware of that, in case a little one or pet decides to pick it up.             So let\u2019s begin with our first item this month! Straight to the kettle we go with this Dr. Stone mug, the ideal size for a quick cuppa tea in the mornings. Dr. Stone first hit screens back in 2019 with the first season of its anime, season two finished airing in March of this year so people are still pretty hyped for this show. The plot follows a high school student named Senku, wise beyond his years, has a can-do attitude and is fascinated with science. Something that will certainly stand to him and the remaining survivors of mankind, when a sudden and mysterious event takes place that petrifies all of humankind into stone for thousands of years. It\u2019s down to Senku and a number of other teenagers who broke free, to set about fast-tracking their way back to 21st century society. It\u2019s a show well worth checking out, as its available to stream now over on Funimation and Crunchyroll. Physical release is handled by Manga Entertainment UK.<\/span><\/p>\n

            Our second item is one I am very excited about, as we get a porcelain mini samurai helmet. You can\u2019t get more Japanese, than a Samurai ornament! This small display item is usually used as a decoration item during Kodomo no hi<\/em>, a traditional holiday that celebrates children which takes place on the 5th of May. Japan is steeped in tradition as you well know, and there is a lot of history involving samurai. I would advise looking it up in your own time if you are interested. This item however is perfect as a holiday souvenir or gift. How would you display this Samurai mini helmet in your home?<\/span><\/p>\n

            <\/p>\n

            We return once again to another anime related item, with this mini Cells At Work plush. Now I haven\u2019t seen this anime, so I have no idea as to what it is actually about. From the look of it though, I would guess that the plot is fairly similar to the 2001 film - Osmosis Jones. Where cells in the body are sentient and with \u2018lives\u2019 of their own, fight against any foreign viruses or illnesses that enter the body they live in. The inner workings of the human body I guess, how very relatable to the World these past 18months. The plush is of one of the main characters - White Cell. This miniature plush will have no trouble finding a space to live within your plushie collection.<\/span><\/p>\n

            <\/p>\n

            Now for a short snack break, as I sit back and inhale these two delicious Dekopon Monaka. These pastries are known as wagashi treats in Japan, which are small savoury treats that are usually paired well with green tea. The flavor was quite nice, as it had a rather generous dekopon filling. With a very homemade jam-like texture, dekopon are a citrus fruit that are quite similar to an orange. Sandwiching this filling together, are two small waffles. Very similar in taste and texture to a pair of ice cream wafers. An interesting treat, pleasant taste but not too sure about the waffles. They were a bit too crumbly and messy to eat.<\/span><\/p>\n

            Back now to another anime item, this time from the show Black Clover. This anime has been doing very well for itself since its debut back in 2017. With a total of 170 episodes in all and an anime film currently in the works, it has gathered quite a following of fans. With new merch continuously being released, it stands as another Shonen Jump long standing franchise. The item we received was a medium sized zip pouch featuring all of the members of the Black Bull Squad, including the shows main man Asta. A fairly roomy pouch inside, plenty of space for all those coins you will need for the arcades. Can also work as a make up punch, pencil case, purse, whatever you can cram inside really. Its a nice design on the front, with a strong zip but due to the way the pouch was made the image can be a little lackluster and almost looks like it was bought straight from ebay. That\u2019s my own opinion however, others might find more value in this than me.<\/span><\/p>\n

            ,The final item in May's box that everyone received, is this figure from \u2018Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun\u2019. Now this is another anime that I am fairly unfamiliar with, but going by the plot over on its Wikipedia page - it seems like a rather fun show. With Season One of the anime first debuted back in 2019, Season Two is currently airing as we speak. The plot follows a human teenage boy named Iruma Suzuki, who is sold by his parents to a demon. How he finds himself in the demon world, adopted by the same demon he was sold to and is now enrolled in the demon school his new \u2018demon grandfather\u2019 runs. Only trouble is, he can never reveal that he\u2019s human - as he will be quickly devoured by all his classmates. So the figure we all received in this box was of the lead character Iruma and his friend Mofuego - who I can\u2019t seem to find any information on online. Its a rather large figure of Iruma, well made, sturdy and definitely well painted. Can see no faults with it at all, definitely added to the overall value of the box. This month\u2019s topic was about Kodomo no hi, a traditional holiday that celebrates and prays for the growth and happiness of little boys. It\u2019s details such as these that make this subscription box so unique and talked about.<\/span><\/p>\n

            Two girls from two very different backgrounds, connect one night over music. As people pass by paying no attention to them, the whole City will stop to hear them play one day, as Carole and Tuesday meet for the very first time. A series about following your passion, letting the music guide you and working hard to make it big in the music industry as musicians who create their own melodies and lyrics from scratch - a rarity in their time. This series is perfect for all you music lovers, as it promotes so many genres as well as giving some sort of insight into the music industry. Carole & Tuesdays\u2019 lyrics are sure to stay with you for a very long time.<\/span><\/p>\n

            Well this was a complete surprise, I began watching this show fully expecting a happy go lucky series with little to no depth. Well I was gladly mistaken, as Carole & Tuesday had character development, plot and soundtracks that would stand out miles above many other and more well known shows out there. It actually felt like this could very easily be adapted into a live action, TV drama. Going from the initial poster, you wouldn't think these two girls had very much in common and perhaps they wouldn't have if it wasn't for their music. Both are driven to make this duo work, even upon their first night meeting all they wished to do was make a song together. It was like an instant friendship between the pair. The idea seemed a bit forced at the start, but shows like this only get better as episodes progress - it just needed that forced kickstart to get it going.<\/span><\/p>\n

            <\/p>\n

            So let's begin with Tuesday, the pretty little white girl who ran away from home (a big ass mansion I might add) with her expensive Gibson guitar. Leaving her cushy lifestyle and political campaign focussed mother behind, Tuesday makes her way to Alba City (a play on Alba Records I presume) in order to pursue her music. However this girl has no idea just how to survive on her own, so luckily for her she runs into a kind hearted girl playing her keyboard on the bridge to passers by. And here we meet Carole, an orphan and refugee from Planet Earth - (oh by the way people, this show takes place on Mars. Yeah, its fairly futuristic and metropolitan, but of course there are massive wealth divisions between the people living on Mars.) Carole wants to have a music career and was just missing someone as talented as Tuesday by her side to make it. Carole is completely down to earth, hard working and driven. Together these two girls make some positive waves in the industry as they work their way up. However they also have their own rivals along the way.<\/span><\/p>\n

            Carole & Tuesdays music career gets a massive boost from a viral video of them practising a new song they wrote in a local venue, which they didn't \u2018exactly\u2019 have permission to use. As their performance and escape goes viral, the girls soon get the attention of an experienced but out of practice agent. This series has countless high points, each episode was memorable in its own way. Whether for the original songs, the covers, the episode names, down to the performances in each episode - its truly captivating at times. The character development and plot could have just been a show all on its own, even without the incredible soundtrack. As we have Tuesday and her family drama with her mother running for President. Promoting a campaign that would see all refugees being sent back to Earth. A campaign that would also see Carole being directly affected. Carole is more focussed on her career, has survived this long in life without knowing her parents. Something that is later explored and very tastefully done in my opinion. With their newfound fame, it quickly attracted those that only wanted to be near her for whatever money and fame she had gotten. The dark side of humanity definitely showed its ugly head one or two times throughout the show.<\/span><\/p>\n

            <\/p>\n

            The most interesting arc in this show came from when the girls were entered into a Singing Competition called \u2018Mars Brightest\u2019. Here they met and competed against Angela, a fashion model wanting to transition into music. This girl has a whole character plot of her own, one that ended up being far more complex and captivating than Carole & Tuesday's storylines! And Angela was only one of the other contestants, each character in this show had their own impact on the overall experience. They each brought something to the overall plot. There are some terribly sad moments, but they add to the impact the show leaves on you. Layering that on top of an incredible music score, well that shit is going to stay with me for years to come. The only thing I wish was that this show had gotten a physical release from one of the UK\u2019s Anime Distributors instead of Netflix. I would even settle for just a Vinyl of the shows soundtrack, as at the moment I just have a YouTube playlist to go from.<\/span><\/p>\n

            \u2018Carole & Tuesday\u2019 is available in a number of language audios over on Netflix, including French, German, Japanese and English. I personally watched it in English and it was a very good dub, the songs were just beautiful. This series ran for 24 episodes and was created by studio BONES in commemoration of the studio's 20th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of record label FlyingDog. The series had two directors, including the infamous Shinichir\u00f3 Watanabe. Widely known for his anime works including Cowboy Bebop, Space Dandy and Kids on the Slope. Our second director was Motonobu Hori, who has had an extensive career and has done numerous jobs across titles including Steamboy, Spirited Away, BECK, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc trilogy and Napping Princess.<\/span><\/p>\n
