Spilled! is a short, relaxing game. The game was developed and published by Lente. Spilled! is a boat clean-up game that was developed by Lente, the developer who lives on a boat herself. Spilled! is available for macOS and Windows.

Spilled! is a single-player game that is short and cosy. In the game, you control a boat that is equipped with several tools to clean up the pollution in the water. The game allows players to recycle, earn coins, upgrade their boats and explore new biomes. Exploring new areas will provide players with new challenges and more waste for them to clean up.

Spilled! has extremely simple mechanics, but the controls were a bit of a hassle to overcome. The game itself features inverted controls where steering the boat is much more difficult than it may seem. At first, my assumption would have been that the game would be easy to experience with a controller, but the steering was not fluid in comparison to using the keyboard. I had found myself using the keyboard, which did not take away from the game itself but made the steering a bit less of an issue. The major obstacle in this game is the controls, though eventually, it becomes almost second nature, even though, at times, it can be quite obstructive. Besides the cleaning up, you will even be tasked to rescue different animals.

Spilled! has charming visuals with bright, vibrant colours to create beautiful landscapes. There are eight different biomes, each so detailed and lovely. For instance, you start off at a grassy scene where the dulled-down waters with oil spills, once fully cleaned, become populated by corals and fish. The main aspect of the visuals for Spilled! is the background artwork, which quite literally brings the game to life with the movement of animals, buildings, and much more. The level of detailing that went into the 3D sprite work is wonderful and gives so much atmosphere to the game. I especially loved the little animations of the animals and the use of the tools on the boat, which made the game so much more realistic. The visuals are accompanied by a graceful soundtrack that enhances the charm of the game. The tranquil instrumentals that fill each biome are delightful to listen to, and players can always purchase the soundtrack on Steam! I would love to say how wonderful it is that a solo developer created such a charming game. I even noticed that if you buy the game on Steam, each sale will donate $0.10 to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC), which is a UK charity.

Spilled! is a lovely game, and I played the game for 1.5 hours and achieved 100%, which was wonderful. The game is simple, but I love that about it. Spilled! consists of no story but just gets the player to clean up the environment around them. You play as a boat which is able to clean up oil spills and trash scattered on the water. As you clean up the debris, you can deposit it at a recycling facility and earn coins to upgrade your boat. Upgrading your boat will help you stop fires by using a hose or a magnet to bring up oil drums deep in the waters. The only thing I do wish for is to see more content. I understand that a solo developer worked on this game, but there is so much more potential to add more biomes to the game bit by bit to get players to come back and enjoy the tranquillity.

Spilled! is a relaxing, charming game where you play as a boat that is equipped with tools to help keep the waters from being polluted and bring the various biomes back to life. Delve into a short but satisfying game where you get to save animals, clean up oil spills, and stop forest fires whilst listening to an elegantly crafted soundtrack accompanied by soft, stunning visuals. If you wish to get your hands on a quick game that will put your mind at ease, then be sure to check out Spilled!
