Mad Cave Studios Announces the Next Chapter of Underworld

New Arcs Begin Across Exit City, Revolution 9, & Hour of the Wolf as Mark London’s World Continues to Expand

MARCH 5, 2026, (PORTLAND, OR) — Mark London’s Underworld was first announced in 2024 as part of Mad Cave Studios’ 10th Anniversary celebration, launching an interconnected line of titles that included Revolution 9, Hour of the Wolf, Exit City, and the epic crossover Endless Night.

Nearly two years later, this fan-favorite corner of the Mad Cave universe expands in a bold new direction as second arcs begin to unfold. The next chapter kicks off with the futuristic crime thriller EXIT CITY #5, by Bram Stoker Award and GLAAD-nominated writer Rich Douek (A Phone Call Away, Road of Bones) with art by Tom Derenick, colors by Fran Gamboa, and letters by Dave Sharpe, featuring a variant cover by Juan Doe (Terrorbytes).

Hot on its heels comes the epic action-packed REVOLUTION 9 #5 from Eisner and Ringo-nominated writer Steve Orlando (War Wolf) and artist Georges Jeanty (Flash Gordon), with colors by Juancho Velez, lehttps://madcavestudios.com/product/exit-city-vitruvian-issue-5/?attribute_variants=Physical+-+Issue+5+-+Cover+A+-+Tom+Derenicktters by Dave Sharpe, and a Cover B by Duncan Rouleau (Venom, Silver Surfer).

Mark London spoke about continuing the series with new creative teams:

“When a story connects with readers the way Revolution 9 and Exit City have, you don’t let it end, you find the right voices to carry it forward. Watching new creative teams step in and bring fresh energy to these worlds has been one of the most rewarding parts of building this publisher. Having writers like Douek and Orlando paired with artists like Georges Jeanty and Tom Derenick shows the caliber of talent these stories attract. They understand what made the originals special, and they’re pushing them into exciting new territory. That’s the Mad Cave philosophy: to build worlds worth returning to. And with Hour of the Wolf on the horizon, there’s even more to look forward to.”

Vitruvian marks a bold new starting point and a return to the Underworld franchise, launching an all-new story arc from writer Rich Douek and artist Tom Derenick. What begins as a lavish high-society gallery opening spirals into chaos—and then horror—when a shocking murder reframes vandalism as something far more sinister. As Detective McCormick investigates, Exit City once again proves that in a world built on ambition and excess, even creativity can become a weapon.

Rich Douek said, “Exit City was already full of everything I love in cyberpunk fiction; the gritty reality of ordinary people struggling to maintain their humanity in a corrupt and oppressive corporate system, unrestrained research and mad science blurring the line between human and machine… it was chock full of great themes already, and I’m thrilled to be able to add my own spin to them. Of all the Underworld books, I think Exit City in particular is vital and relevant at this point in history, when real-world technocrats are running wild and unrestrained, breaking entire industries with no regard for the people caught in the fallout. Ultimately, that’s what we’re exploring in this book—what does humanity mean, in a world where everything is being turned into a product? I’m so grateful that Mark and Mad Cave have given me the chance to run with this book, and my hope is that it will become one of the many shining stars in the bright future of the Underworld Universe.”

REVOLUTION 9 #5 (May 27)

A new war ignites as Revolution Velveteen 9 launches a solo assault on Kiln City, taking the fight directly to the Hand of War in a brutal reckoning years in the making. This issue marks the explosive beginning of a brand-new story arc in the Underworld Universe—featuring new creators and a no-holds-barred mission to sever the Nine Hands, one by one.

Steve Orlando said, “From the very start, Revolution 9 was my kind of series—big ideas, big action, no compromises and no holds barred. So, when creator Mark London asked me if I’d like to step in for a spell, not to mention working with Georges Jeanty, the iconic artistic mind behind Buffy: The Vampire Slayer in comics, it was the easiest yes in the world! Clearly, we grew up on the same unashamed action universes, the blockbusters that knew what they were and knew what to deliver—innovative action and devastating consequences. This arc is a launchpad for Revolution 9—she’s ready to start fresh at last. But before she does that, she’s got to wipe her ledger clean. She’s got to hunt down the five teachers who made her into the murder machine she is—and thank them, in the most deadly way possible, for their tutelage. Each issue is a new teacher, a new setup, and a new assassination—and each is stranger and more grotesque than the last. Scrooge had three ghosts, Revolution 9 has five nightmares reminding her of who she was—and to be someone she knew, she’s got to put them in the ground.”

Together, these series continue to expand the world Mark London set in motion. From the dangerous glamour of Exit City to the escalating warfare of Revolution 9, each title explores a different corner of a shared landscape shaped by crime, ambition, and rebellion. With new arcs underway, the next phase of the story begins here.

As the next phases of these stories unfold, readers can follow the expanding world of these series throughout 2026. Exit City #5 arrives April 1, 2026, with a Final Order Cut-Off on March 9. Revolution 9 #5 follows on May 27 (FOC May 5), and the next chapter of the thrilling Hour of the Wolf #5 continues this fall, with issue #5 arriving October 7 (FOC September 14).
