The floppy pile is piling up so I’m going to pick up the pace a bit in hopes of getting ahead.

I’ve mentioned before how DC’s New Age of Heroes feels a lot like Marvel, but the Terrifics is (at least in my mind) an unabashed homage to early Fantastic Four. You have Mr. Terrific in Mr. Fantastic’s role of the big brain who solves the problems. Metamorpho is the two fisted hero who despite having love is uncomfortable with the way he looks a la the Thing. Elastic Man is the prankster like Human Torch, and yes he and Metamorpho bicker in a fashion similar to Ben and Johnny. Finally there is Phantom Girl who is similar to early Sue Storm/Invisible Girl she has the insecurity Sue once had, but I have to give the current creators props, being the youngest they also instilled some of Johnny’s excitement and teenage spirit into them as well. Even their villain Doctor Dread a cloaked and armored villain with look alike robots and is almost painfully close to Doctor Doom.
With all these similarities I wondered what does this series have that FF doesn’t? Well one of the biggest selling points for me is the return of Tom Strong and family. Now the relationship between Alan Moore and DC isn’t the best, but it does feel like the creative team here are fans and are treating them well. 10/10 it’s a weird fun romp through the multiverse.

While I did really enjoy those issues I loves this annual. In part because it added so much more depth to the main run. In particular there was one story pertaining to Doctor Dread that changed my opinion on him completely. 10/10 don’t skip it!
Moth & Whisper #2

Another really great issue. I am loving how Niki is still a perfect balance of skill and inexperience. They make mistakes and they deal with the consequences. 10/10 I really hope it maintains this quality.

Catwoman/ Tweety and Sylvester Special #1
Writer: Gail Simone, Shea Fontana
Artist: Inaki Miranda, Walter Carzon
Colors: Eva De La Cruz, Silvana Brys
Letters: Taylor Esposito, Wes Abbott
Cover: Emanuela Lupacchino, Tomeu Morey
Publisher: DC Comics
The first story is great. It’s a crazy epic with hero versus villain, villain versus villain, and hero versus hero. It’s practically an event comic. Plus for those fans of Gail Simone (like me) she busts out some of the characters she writes so well. The second half is a fun Looney toon style romp. 10/10 it has something for everyone.
