The Story Begins: 2D Cinematic
Animated Adventure ‘Forgotton Anne’ To Launch This May
Anime epic to hit PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC
London, UK – April 12th: Having stunned gamers at events and expos throughout 2017 with its crisp, anime style, Square Enix Collective can now announce 2D cinematic adventure Forgotton Anne will launch on PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X and PC on May 15th 2018.
Forgotton Anne is a dazzling, story-driven, hand-crafted 2D cinematic adventure focused on the mysterious Forgotten Lands: the hidden dimension where all mislaid items from the human world – the odd socks, the lost letters, the missing toys – all linger.
With the help of the Forgotlings – creatures formed out of all of these missing items – the trapped Anne and Master Bonku begin a quest to find their way home. It’s a story full of emotion, and one layered with a combination of light 2D puzzle platforming and dialogue choices.
“As anyone who was able to catch Forgotton Anne throughout 2017 will know, this is one of the best, most striking looking games we’ve ever put out,” offers Phil Elliott, Director Indie Publishing at Square Enix West. “This isn’t just an adventure that looks like an anime, it’s anime in full, fluid motion. We simply cannot wait to get this beauty into the hands of gamers – it’s a story as delicate and engaging as the world it plays out in.”
Forgotton Anne has already caught the eye of some of the games industry’s most esteemed critics, with Eurogamer describing its visuals as “pure Saturday morning anime”, while WCCFTech said it was “impossible not to be impressed”. All in all, Throughline Games’ latest release is shaping up to be one of the indie games to watch in 2018.
“It’s been a genuine pleasure to watch gamers and critics alike tuck into Forgotton Anne’s early builds over the last 12 months, but now’s when things get really exciting,” offered Alfred Nguyen, Creative Director and Co-founder of ThroughLine Games. “We think we’ve created a world that both pays homage to some of the biggest anime films but also takes the art form in a different direction, giving players the chance to live out an animated adventure for real.”
Forgotton Anne will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on May 15th 2018 on Steam for £15.49/$19.99/€19.99, on Xbox One for £15.99/$19.99/€19.99, and PlayStation 4 for £16.00/$19.99/€19.99.
