EGX 2023 – The Games Part 1

EGX 2023 – The Games Part 1

As part of a recent trip to EGX, we got hands-on previews of various games from indie to the biggest studios in the world and a throwback to some retro arcade classics, too.

Indie

Valley Peaks is a first-person cartoony-looking climbing game; yes, you heard me right, it was fun and unique. A demo is available on Steam with a TBC date. I recommend a download and try it. I was just really impressed with it and love the look of the game.

Full Void is a 2D puzzle platformer that reminded me of the classic Flashback game, and I love pixel art, so I’m a big, available on Steam.

Deliver Rodent is a multiplayer delivery based where you are a rodent delivering food, stuck in the gig economy. It’s reminiscent of Crazy Taxi, but it’s crazy and fun. It was one of the games that embraced the four-player local support epic fun.

Non-Indie

Prince of Persia – The Lost Crown by Ubisoft was one of the games I was looking forward to playing as I’m a huge fan. I was impressed by it. It’s action-packed and full of puzzles. I’m a massive Sands of Time fan, and I want the full game! I’m looking to get my hands on the whole game when it’s out in January 2024.

Yakuza – Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth by Sega is an exciting take on the Yakuza with being set out of Japan and in Hawaii. The game has a mini-game, Crazy Taxi game-esque delivery game, which is cool and adds more to the story and combat-heavy game. From the minimal time I had, I loved the combat and fighting and the presentation – the look and feel are stunning, too. I did enjoy it and won’t have to wait long as the full release is in January.

Super Mario Bros Wonder by Nintendo was epic, and when I get through CyberPunk, I will get to this game, as it’s a brilliant 2-D platformer. The game uses a whole host of mechanics and “Wonder” to bring another Nintendo classic available to buy on Switch! Again, I only had a short period of the game but was enthralled, but who doesn’t love the Mario games?
