With the release of Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Professor Harvey is Gone on the 27th of this month from Dark Horse, we are delighted to be joined by cartoonist Giuseppe Manunta. Giuseppe is an artist and writer known for le dîner de Noël, Hellé Nice, and une Table pour 2.
Hi Giuseppe, it’s so great to have you here with us.
Although we don’t know each other, it’s my pleasure as well.
Could you please introduce yourself to our readers?
I am a graphic novel author, but an Artefice by definition with 32 years of professional life, our curious readers are sure to discover the rest for themselves. nel Segno del Fumetto
How did you get involved with Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Professor Harvey is Gone?
It was 2023. We started exchanging short messages, and then, on the occasion of Hellboy’s 30^(th) anniversary, I asked Mike if I could write a Hellboy story. It wasn’t easy, but we succeeded in the end.
Did you ever think you would get the opportunity to work on a Hellboy comic?
Absolutely not. It was one of those dreams that is meticulously stowed away in a locked drawer.
When you first read the script for Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Professor Harvey is Gone, what did you think?
That I would have had a lot of fun!
Is Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Professor Harvey new-reader friendly?
Why shouldn’t it be? How can you not love that red devil?
How long have you been working on Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Professor Harvey?
The project took about two months to complete.
What has it been like working with Mike Mignola, Clem Robins and Dark Horse Comics?
Unfortunately, I did not have the pleasure of meeting Clem Robins. My collaboration was with Mike, Katii O’Brien and Misha Gehr, whom I warmly thank, along with the entire Dark Horse staff.
What kind of feedback did you get from Mike Mignola?
Various suggestions about Hellboy and his single-shot pistol. Otherwise, he was very generous in allowing me freedom of interpretation.
How would you describe Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Professor Harvey is Gone?
A short comic full of adrenaline.
With Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Professor Harvey is Gone releasing August 27th, how do you feel?
I’m very excited, I can’t wait to hold it in my hands, raise it to the sky, and shout, “Yes, we can!”

This comic is special, regardless of where it was published, because it represents the fulfillment of a dream.
