Nels Coxman (Liam Neeson) is honoured as Citizen of the Year in Kehoe, just outside Denver, Colorado, at a lavish awards ceremony. Not long after, his son, Kyle is found murdered and his body dumped. Nels and his wife must identify their son’s body and are told that he died of a heroin overdose. This immediately rings alarm bells and Nels knows that some foul play is at work. Devastated by his son’s death, and not knowing what to do, he decides to kill himself, rather than live with the pain. Fortunately a friend of Kyle’s. Dante turns up and gives him some new information. This information triggers a whole new series of events and leads Nels onto a dark and murderous path..

A fantasticly murderous adventure with a gorgeously snowy background, ‘Cold Pursuit’ is a rollercoaster from the start. Even though Liam Neeson is now synonymous with his characters getting revenge on people, he still makes it entertaining. The body count in this movie is ridiculously high but each death ends up feeling slightly comedic. Whether this is intentional or not is unknown, but whatever the case, it makes for a more entertaining piece. Tom Bateman is a great choice for an evil baddie and he seems to relish his role as the druglord Viking. He would definitely make a good Joker one day. He has the same evil and insane grin.

If you love relatively fast paced movies with some ingenious and entertaining causes of death, then definitely give ‘Cold Pursuit’ a watch. It’s full of action and the snowy backdrop of Colorado is gorgeous. Liam Neeson’s still got it.

Overall: 8/10
