Magical roguelike Arcane Blast launches on 9 September on PC and Mac
Help cat wizard Adrian escape ShadowVille and regain his lost strength in this element-mixing roguelike
9 September – Campfire Studio is excited to announce the launch of Arcane Blast, a fast-paced spellslinging solo and online coop roguelike coming to PC and Mac via Steam.
Master of the wizardly arts, cat mage Adrian is caught in a time prison by his oldest student, Felix Lunnoson, and robbed of his once-great magical abilities. Now abandoned to the relentless hordes of ShadowVille, Adrian must traverse the world and face fearsome bosses to regain his strength and unlock new abilities before he can return home.
To survive the ravenous monsters of ShadowVille, players must master seven elements – air, dark, fire, frost, lightning, nature, and water – and wield them to their advantage, finding wild combinations and exploiting their adaptability to match enemy weaknesses.
Each element imparts additional effects on enemies and the environment, and can be combined to create powerful and ingenious effects, perfecting their builds and reaching new heights of power. From humble staples such as fireballs and lightning bolts, players will quickly ramp up to summoning meteor showers and black holes.
With each run, players will unlock dangerous new bosses and abilities in their quest to escape ShadowVille. But they don’t need to fight alone, bringing up to three friends, each with the power of choose their own magical path. Each players’ spells can be combined to forge chaotic chain reactions. But remain cautious: the bigger the team, the greater the challenge that awaits them.
Arcane Blast represents a significant pivot for Campfire Studio, from the success of cozy interior decoration simulator My Dream Setup to a fast-paced, element-mixing roguelike.
