Summary:
This issue starts off with a group of dogs and cats growling and hissing at each other in a standoff. Moosh, a Rottweiler dog, is strapped to the top of an examination board as he has a muzzle strapped to his nose. It seems as if all of the animals were captured unknowingly, and they are on a mission to escape the building they’re trapped in.
As I continue to read this issue, the cats and dogs are trapped inside a sterile room, where many have been forcibly made to take shots, as men in hazmat suits struggle to keep up with the fast pace that the animals are running. Killer the pug is captured by the strange men when a group of zombified, sick animals leap into action and begin to bite the crew of animals.
A fire breaks out in the building, and the cats and dogs have to avoid the men in hazmat suits, along with the zombified animals. The issue hits a climax with the animals escaping, with terror in the air as a human who helps to rescue them mentions that an extermination crew is headed towards the building, and that any pet that has not escaped yet will be terminated.
Elsie goes back inside to find others like Moosh, until the van that holds the escaped animals begins to drive off.
Tony Fleecs delivers believable dialogue for the animals, as cats can only understand cats and dogs can only understand their species. Art looks crisp, and it doesn’t clutter each panel. I’m interested to see where this story goes next, as it looks like the start of a deadly contagion spreading.
