The Tecknofun Bulbasaur Light-Up Scene is honestly one of the cutest collectable items I have seen, and I am so thankful Tecknofun personally sent them over for us to check out! Standing at around 5.5 inches (14 cm), it is the perfect size to display on a shelf or desk. It is part of a small series where you can also get Charizard and Squirtle, but personally, Bulbasaur was just right for me. It is not just light, but a full scene depicting the nature of the Pokémon, and perfect for Pokémon fans, especially those who love collecting unique display pieces.
The design is stunning. You have got Bulbasaur snoozing peacefully on a tree log, surrounded by tiny flowers, mushrooms and a grass bed. The whole setup gives off this cosy, forest fantasy vibe that perfectly fits a Grass-type Pokémon.
What stands out most is how detailed everything is. The hard plastic build feels super solid and the textures from the tree log’s back to the smooth petals and rough rocks make it look of high quality. You can even feel the little details, like Bulbasaur’s tiny fangs, which are adorable! I also love how some of the flowers are slightly lifted from the ground, adding that extra bit of dimension that makes the whole thing feel alive. It is one of those pieces that look just as good in daylight as it does when lit up.
The light-up feature was much better than I expected. You can power it either with 3xAAA batteries or through a USB-C cable, which is included. Having both options is super convenient. You can add batteries if you want to move it around easily, or plug it in with the USB-C to keep it in one spot.
The light itself comes from the mushrooms and is surprisingly bright without being harsh. It does not overpower the rest of the scene; instead, it gives it a soft, magical glow. There are two lighting modes: Progressive, where the light slowly brightens and dims, and fixed, where the mushrooms stay fully lit. You can easily switch between these by tapping the ON/OFF button on the side of the base. The USB-C power does not charge the figure, so if you unplug it, the lights go off. It is priced at £46.11.
As a long-time Pokémon fan, I love this product. It is one of those rare collectables that also has a real function. In the daytime, it looks like a detailed figure, and at night, when the mushrooms light up, it transforms into a mini fantasy forest scene.
The decision to only have the mushrooms glow is perfect as it keeps the focus on Bulbasaur while adding a calm, whimsical touch, as one does when setting up a scene. It is the kind of light that makes your room feel cosy, and doubles as a very nice night light.
I would not change anything about this particular product. The scene feels complete, without completely overdoing it; the lighting is just right, and it perfectly captures Bulbasaur’s aesthetic. It is easily one of the best Pokémon collectables I have now.
