Guatemala, 1998 and we see a familiar face, relaxing with his mother. Then the unthinkable happens and all hell breaks loose.. Twenty two years later in Mexico, on a bridge, suddenly a ball of light appears and a female body falls from it. Naked and disoriented she ‘finds’ some clothes and steals a car. A young woman named Dani (Natalia Reyes) lives with her brother, Diego and their dad. All is good until another ball of light appears and this time a naked guy appears… While at work, Dani and Diego get a visit from their dad but he seems a little ‘off’. Needless to say they soon discover that it’s not their dad and it all kicks off. For some reason, a terminator has arrived to kill Dani but she has no idea what is going on. Her life is saved by the girl who came out of the first ball of light and a huge and dangerous chase ensues. Who are these people and why does one of them want her dead?

There have been a lot of Terminator movies over the past few decades; The Terminator in 1984, Terminator 2: Judgement Day in 1991, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines in 2003, Terminator Genisys in 2015 and now bringing them to some sort of a conclusion is Terminator: Dark Fate. This one follows on from the events in T2.

As with pretty much all the Terminator movies, there’s a vague arc of a story but this film gives us a whole new timeline. You’re kind of wondering what the hell is going on for the first hour or so but once all the pieces fit into place, it soon makes a lot more sense. The action, incredible fight sequences and stunning chases make this an extremely enjoyable watch and the new characters add a lot to this story.

Fans of the Terminator series will probably be pretty happy with this new movie and it will no doubt get people re-watching the past movies, especially T2.

If you like your films fast paced, action packed and at full throttle, then make sure you go and see ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ on a big screen.

Overall: 8.5/10
