COPENHAGEN – Jan. 31, 2018 – Trailmakers, the vehicle-building adventure from the Press Play, Rare, Square Enix, and CCP veterans at Flashbulb Games, is out now on Steam Early Access. More intrepid explorers can join the fun later this year when Trailmakers comes to the Xbox One Preview Program.
Trailmakers invites daredevils across the galaxy to a vehicular playground planet. Everyone is invited to create any vehicle they can imagine and explore an alien world with their friends. With a bit of imagination and some digital elbow grease, players can inspire each other to build ever-crazier vessels and race, find the best cliff for stunts, or discover the hidden corners of the land. No place or idea is out of reach in Trailmakers!
Building the perfect vehicle is a breeze with Trailmakers‘ easy-to-use interface. Snap together parts including everything from off-roading wheels to wings. Each part has its own physical rules including shape and weight, but the possibilities they offer are endless. Ever wanted to pilot a cannon-powered rocket ship? Go for it, but be careful up there! If it does work out, save the blueprints and share them with friends in only a couple of quick clicks.
Trailmakers‘ single-player Expedition Mode challenges players to start with only four wheels, a seat, a frame, an engine, and a destination on the other side of the island. Resources and new parts to play with are scattered around the world. Some hills require hefty amounts of horsepower, while other gaps and valleys can only be leapt over with rockets strapped onto the vehicle, or even flown over with helicopter blades if they can be uncovered. Expedition will later be updated so up to four friends can explore, create, and overcome obstacles together.
If imagination outgrows the amount of available resources in Expedition Mode, Sandbox Mode empowers up to four players to build to their tinkering hearts’ desire. This is where Trailmakers‘ abundance of vehicle parts can truly shine: with no limits on what’s available to players, they can build anything from walking tanks to cars able to transform into a robot or jet with one button press. Land, sea, and sky are all testing grounds for turning impossible ideas into exciting experiments.
For those who wish to build with friends, Dethrone Mode, a high-impact fusion of capture-the-flag and king-of-the-hill, will debut with Early Access. Flashbulb’s “Physics-Over-Network” technology synchronizes crashes for up to four players so each participant sees the same glorious explosions. More multiplayer modes, as well as new skins and vehicle parts, are already in development and will be introduced later as comprehensive, frequent post-launch support.
“Trailmakers emphasizes fun first over everything else,” said Mikkel Thorsted, creative director, Flashbulb Games. “We want everyone to feel as free as their untamed imaginations allow, and we can’t wait to see the vehicles our players will dream up throughout Early Access.”
Trailmakers is currently available to play in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Danish, and Polish for $19.99 / €19.99 / £14.99. A one-week 10% launch discount takes it down to $17.99 / €17.99 / £13.49.
