Here at POTW we make the tough decision of what to buy if you only had money for ONE book coming out that week… this is easily the best comic coming out any given Wednesday. Even though we’ve not read it yet, we’re assured of its greatness!
I don’t know what it is with my personal tastes lately but super-hero comic universes aren’t really doing it for me like they used to. I find myself gravitating to more insular titles that have more focus on their story than their universe building. Ted McKeever’s Mondo seems to be doing the former while paying homage to the later. Its format is golden age sized. The price, although a little on the high side at 4.99, will be worth it. Its story even has the formula of “accident gives super heroes super powers to fight super villian”. It should be a lot of fun and the presentation will be enjoyably retro.
For anyone who has not read a Ted McKeever comic, there is a…quirkiness to it. From his plot all the way to his graytoned art. Every story feels like an extension of him, and has a personal touch. His material is unique and it contains a creative componet that many comics today lack. I’m stoked for Mondo. You should be too.
