Here at POTW we make the tough decision of what to buy if you only had money for ONE book coming out that week… this is easily the best comic coming out any given Wednesday…deal with it.
So this yet another column where I plug the genius of Sam Kieth. I’ve been excited for this since Sam said he had an finished but unreleased project sitting around the DC offices. Sam on Batman isn’t the best thing ever but lets be honest, Sam does way more innovating stuff per page than most modern artists do per issue.
The plot is essentially Batman chases the Mad Hatter and it becomes Batman in Wonderland…or something to that effect. Sam will be drawing crazy cats, fat caterpillars, and the Mad Hatter looking insane. Batman’s cape will also be 100x’s longer and more badass than any other Batman comic currently on the stands.
Sam actually isn’t writing this Batman tale. That honor goes to Bruce Jones. Jones is known for doing horror books, weird tales, and some bad comics. I personally think Jones gets a bad rep. I’ve liked what I’ve read of his Hulk, and I may be the only person in the world who enjoyed his Nightwing. I think the same mind that turned Jason Todd into a squid will pair nicely with Kieth. This won’t change everything you’ve ever known about Batman, but I think it’ll be a fun read. In fact, I think Kieth and Jones will make the best book to hit stands this week.
