Pick of the Week for 4/18/12

So this weeks pick was really quite easy to pick. One of my favorite books on the stand just got even better. Prophet #24 features the arrival of artist Farel Dalrymple. Brandon Graham has developed quite a world with his story of a man lost 5000 years in the future. Each issue features innovative technology/creatures and has some truly original sci-fi ideas. Aliens, weapons, adventure. This series has it all. With Dalrymple coming on to illustrate this, it may just be the perfect comic. Simon Roy, the previous artist did a wonderful job setting up John Prophet’s universe, and Dalyrmple’s dry, yet quirky style will be a seamless passing of the baton. One thing that is an advantage to Graham’s writing is that he’s an artist too. This means he lets the art do the storytelling for the most part and then only has the most necessary of dialog or exposition. This is not Rob Liefeld’s Prophet. This is a futuristic, barbarian, sci-fi story that could not be further from it. This series has become one of my favorite comics ever. If I were rich, I would do a money back guarantee on it…but I’m not so just take my word for it. I’m fairly trustworthy, right? If you’ve don’t check this out then you are missing out on comics at their finest.
